STORIES Joo Chiat, a Hotel by Cove - Paya Lebar, Singapore - NEWLY RENOVATED

This property is set back from the main road so was very quiet. The only downside was the 3pm check-in. We could leave a luggage safely and we were able to explore for the 5 hours

This was my second stay, and it was still a great experience. The bathrooms are modern, there’s an elevator, and the AC works perfectly. It offers excellent value for the price. The standard rooms are a bit on the small side—fine for two carry-ons or one large suitcase, but the walkway is narrow, so you’ll have to squeeze past each other. If you have a lot of luggage, I’d recommend booking a larger room. We experienced a brief power outage on the second night, but it was resolved in about 30 minutes. I’ll definitely be back!

Our second stay in Singapore. The basic room is small, fit for only one big suitcase or 2 carry ons. Basic needs for everything you need. The room is clean, AC is good, the bathroom is stylish, and they have elevator. Perfect option for anyone looking for great value and comfy stay. A short period of black out happened on our 2nd night. But the staff solved it quickly around 30 mins I guess. Will be our best choice when we come to Singapore next time!

Housekeeping is done every other day. Hence, just don’t mistakenly press (turn on) DND button by the doorway as a light switch when stepping out for the day. Don’t assume the housekeepers will change the mattress sheet because it’s not always done unless it’s requested at the front desk. Their TV channels sometimes have sound and other times no audio. Although front desk clerk says a technician will be in the next day to have it fixed, but it never did. Manager Laura was very professional. Front desk staff was pleasant.

For the price you’re paying, it would be better to pay a slightly higher price tag and go elsewhere. I’ve never seen a hotel that doesn’t offer some form of secure storage. The less than helpful front desk guy just tells you to leave your luggage by the front desk. While I was in the lobby he would leave for 2-3 20 minute increments leaving your belongings unattended. There’s no security personnel or key card, so in theory anyone could walk in and take your unattended items. Check in is strictly 3PM, while the front desk guy isn’t off at who knows where, he won’t bother checking if your room was previously occupied and may possible be empty for early check in, just a “the rooms still need to be cleaned.” The way this place is ran, you’re better off paying more or less for better security/value. Also the room was advertised much differently, there are no windows in the room, but I could have sworn the photos showed rooms with windows. Also please see attached video of the layer of dust under the sink that they needed time to “clean.

Clean, functional room. Great for our stop over. Close to airport and plenty food options. Only fault was mould in the showers seal needs to be addressed as this can be hazardous to health.

The hotel is a strange mix of contrasts - on arrival, the entrance is very nice and seems like a lovely 4 star hotel. However, they really let themselves down on the simple things. Like cleanliness. My bathroom had pieces of rubbish (even someone else's watch) lying on the bathroom floor. There were short black hairs on the toilet, in the shower, around the sink and on the bathroom floor. The bathmat was laid on the floor and one of the towels on the back of the door (rather than folded with the others) - it wasnt clear if had been used.

This is a very clean and newly decorated hotel close to the airport. It is also located in the Joo Chiat neighborhood which is charming. It’s filled with renovated historic buildings that are now nice restaurants and other businesses. I was sorry that we didn’t have more time to explore this area. I would definitely recommend this property to others wanting to stay in this area.

The lobby and the floors coridors are new, but the room no. Dusty, mold in the bathroom. And some water problem from the toilet leaking. Fpunf hair in the shower place, dirty linens. I'll never ever stay there is eventually i come to Singapore

The sheets had clearly not been changed between guests when we found someone else’s glasses when we tried to go to sleep.

Firstly, we stood waiting for someone to show up at the front desk connecting in for nearly 10 minutes. No one was there, no bell to ring and no way to get anyone’s attention aside from trying to message the hotel using the app. Rooms are very small, with poor lighting and the mattress felt like sleeping on a queen sized Yoga block. Extremely hard and uncomfortable mattress. The bathrooms were clean but, not free of sewage gas seeping up and into your entire room. It was HORRIBLE. If you used the bathroom, even run the bathroom sink, the sewage gas will start working itself through your entire room. I had to cover the drains in the bathroom with wet towels and keep the bathroom door shut.

Singapore is kostbaar en hotelkamers zijn aan de prijs. We wisten op voorhand dat deze kamers geen ramen hebben en daarmee frisse lucht en daglicht niet aanwezig zou zijn. Echter we moesten best wel lang wachten tijdens het inchecken en uiteindelijk bleken ook nog twee van de drie kamers niet schoon te zijn. Er zaten haren in het beddengoed en op de kamervloer lag viezigheid. Dit is uiteindelijk allemaal opgelost.

Nice hotel in nice location. about 15m walk from MRT station, at the beginning of vibrant JooChiat. Located within the Malay Market on one side and ~200m away from JooChiat's colorful eateries and shops. Newly renovated and clean.

Noise with doors slamming all night

The hotel is in a good location but the room is very small and the male staff in the night shift was not pleasant to talk to.

The hotel was solid for the price. I wish it had a window to get in some natural lighting but the space felt big and cozy for a lone traveler.

Everything works as it should be. Room that I booked is the cheapest as it was just a transit hotel. Very small room. Basic amenities. Kettle was not in the room so had to go to reception to request for one. No phone in the room to call. About 20-30mins walk from MRT station. Food around the hotel. A lot of halal restaurants as the area got more Malays.

Good service and nice, clean rooms for a good price! Close to stores and restaurants, easy to walk to bus station(3-4 min) and also the subway is just around 15 min walk. The sound proofing between rooms is a bit weak. But since it’s a quiet hotel in a quiet area it’s still OK. Just wear ear plugs If you’re sensitive :)

Great location for walking, dining and more. However room was not ready until after 5PM.

1泊でしたが、素晴らしい滞在となりました。レストランやカフェが近くにたくさんありますが、素朴でのんびりした雰囲気のエリアです。カトンの中心地よりも、私は、この立地が気に入りました。スタッフの方もとても親切で、夜中のチェックインも、手荷物預かりも丁寧に対応してくれました。どうもありがとうございました。

Poor room service. We didn’t get room service the 4 days we stayed. They were supposed to on 2nd day, but did NOT. I had to go down to get more toilet paper and our trash was overflowing because there wasn’t phone in the room. Front desk staffs promised that it would be service the next day, again did NOT get room service. I had to go down to get my own supplies that were out. The wall also thin, I can hear the person next room coughing all night and threw up in the morning because all the coughing. There were hair in bathroom floor and stain sheets when we checked in.

The staff there always made you a priority and did whatever they could to help you out they go above and beyond what most places do. I am staying with them again

Sadly the hotel did not clean the room - even when requested 3 times. The bins in the rooms were overflowing! We were disappointed that even when asked we would return to the room to find it wasn’t cleaned. The hotel is about 15 min walk to the mrt station. So great if you are happy with the distance. It was great to get around the city. Just a shame about the service at the hotel

Great service

Staff are polite and responsible. A female receptionist on duty helped my wife and myself book a taxi for our cruise trip. Accidently, I left my handbag, which contains our passports and credit cards, at the backseat of the taxi. When I found the problem ten minutes late, the taxi had long gone. We had another taxi back to the hotel. The lady comforted us and immediately called the driver. The driver confirmed the bag was still in his car. The story had a happy ending, surely due to the efforts of the lady. We are very very grateful to her!

櫃檯男性服務人員態度極差，把所有同行朋友當成偷住客，叫所有人提供房卡重新檢驗。 還威脅要報警 最後檢查打自己的臉，也不講一句道歉

New decor, Clean and comfortable room, great shower and good AC. 10 min walk to nearest MTR station ( Paya Lebar) which was easy to find and great for exploring Singapore. Supermarket beside hotel but limited eating options nearby. No working fridge in room but bought ice from supermarket and used sink :) can't really fault it for the price.

I would definitely recommend this property to others wanting to stay in this area.
