Spark by Hilton Amarillo Medical Center

I used Hotels.com to book a room at Spark by Hilton on my way home from Louisiana to Colorado. I will say that I will probably never stay at a Spark hotel again. The front desk clerk was initially not terribly pleasant but also not rude, just rather blah as if she didn't want to be there and didn't want to help. I loaded my things onto a cart and went to my room. Immediately took the cart back downstairs. Went back to my room and after the door shut, I tried to lock the deadbolt and was unable to do so. Called the front desk and got no answer so I went downstairs again. Waited for the desk clerk to come inside from vaping or something. Told her I couldn't lock the door and that I was not comfortable in a room where the deadbolt didn't lock and asked to be moved. Also told her it looked as if it had been broken into before. She told me she could not move me because they were sold out. I said that I didn't think the entire hotel had been checked into yet so couldn't she move me and put someone else there? Her response was no and that she would come up and try to deadbolt my door. I called Hilton Customer Service, who tried to call the front desk and got no answer but thought they should move me too. The desk clerk came up and couldn't lock the door either but still said she couldn't move me. I told the Hilton CS lady this and she called the desk clerk who answered while still at my door. She then called a manager who agreed to move me. Had to relocate bags etc. Just bad serv,

Hotels with bugs get the worst ratings possible!

Hallway smelled like dog pee. People not so friendly and weird odor in room I thoight it was an updated hotel but its old.

The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful.

I was traveling and checked in super late. Room was great and very clean. Cassandra checked me in and she was super sweet and very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
