Emerald Shores Hotel - Daytona Beach

The swimming pool is dirty. Everything else was great!

There was only 1 elevator working at the time. Other then that we had a great stay.

Older property, couch in the room had some nasty stains on it and although we saw the staff adding chemicals to the pool often, we never saw them vacuum it and it needed it. The 2nd day we turned down room cleaning because we were still good after the first night, they did not come by at all on the 3rd day. The pictures show gas fireplaces with seats around them and a tiki bar for nice ambiance however, the fireplaces were not functional and the tiki bar was never open for service throughout the busy 4th of July weekend. Outdoor patio was nice facing the ocean so the view was great.

The hot tub was never hot

Nothing unique about the property. No maintenance man to be found. The hot tub was filled with sand and also the pool. The furniture surrounding the pool needs to be updated to say the least. And the hotel they need updating badly this property is independently owned... The staff was very nice.. but I'd be looking for another hotel to work at. Cuz obviously the owners are just in it for the money... Needless to say I will not be back.. like the old saying goes you get what you pay for!! I will spend a little bit more money next time for cleanliness!!!!! And a continental breakfast for sure.... Not just coffee and stale Danish and muffins..

Very friendly staff and great hotel. Only bad thing…tiki bar is not open and the fire places are only during certain times of the year. Seeing the picture on the website made that little misleading.

Hot tub and pool ocean front

Let me start by saying I love Emerald Shores and have come and will continue to come here for years. The staff is lovely, the beachfront is wonderful but there are definite rooms for improvement. We stayed on a non beachfront facing room for the first time and the condition of the room was the worst we’ve had at ES. The shower handle was broken and spun in circles only allowing it to be turned off and on, not adjust the temperature. The electrical outlets near the couch and also on one side of the bed did not work (nor did the lamp on that side of the bed). The cover ok the bed was very odd, I couldn’t tell if the feathers in it had clumped in to small hard circles inside the cover or what but it was awful and needs replaced. The hottub was full of sand and no one vacuumed it that we saw in the 3 day period we were there (pool also had a lot of sand). The staff is so sweet and we really love this hotel but they need some time to work on little things around the hotel. Still a great place

The room looked clean upon arriving. Sheets had stains and the toilet was not cleaning. The smell outside the room reminded you of being on a fishing boat and all you could smell was seafood scent. Rooms had a strange odor to them as well. We had a very late check in due to our plane being delayed a couple times and the woman at the counter was not very friendly.

The rooms, outside around the property, and lobby areas were always spotless clean! The only complaint was that the hotel is a bit old and run down, but even with that complaint, it was still always spotless clean!

Hotel smells bad room didn’t seem like they cleaned. Had hair in bedding and hair stuck to shower walls. Tiki bar wasn’t operational. Lady at front desk in the morning was very Rudd. The free breakfast was nothing more than packaged snacks

The location is fabulous. The building and rooms are in need of maintenance and it needs updated. The king room was very spacious and the balcony view of the ocean was amazing. The room needed DEEP CLEANED. Baseboards, tables, chairs and doors needed scrubbed. Years of dust and dirt. The vent in bathroom was packed w lint and dirt. The main door to our room didn’t have a security lock or chain. The sliding door to balcony didn’t have ANY lock at all. The second morning the continental breakfast wasn’t ready from 7-9 as stated. I went to front desk the manager said they ran out yesterday…. So waiting on order to come in. (I guess the Publix right down the street didn’t have any food to replenish the Continental breakfast either…. )However the manager would keep it open longer when the order comes in. So we walked the beach. When we returned the food was replenished but locked up. The manager was there and asked if we needed some food. I said yes please. So he reluctantly unlocked the food. We got a yogurt and pastry. The hot tub had water but no HEAT. We have never been in a “hot tub” that wasn’t hot. We talked to other people staying there they were upset about cold hot tub as well. The pool and “hot tub” never got cleaned the entire 4 days we stayed. The fridge and microwave didn’t look like they had been cleaned for years as well in our hotel room.

Great location and property. Marc and his staff are phenomenal not too mention some of the nicest people around. Everything worked perfectly and entire property was clean, especially the room.

Room was crawling with roaches

The hotel was disgustingly dirty. Paint was peeling off the ceiling and the sheets were all ripped up and dirty and no hot water in the first room. The second room had roaches crawling on the wall and the beds weren’t even made. And the third room was dirty and still no hot water.

The view from my room was amazing. I had a room on the 7th floor. The hallways smelled funny. The furniture and appliances were dated and not in good condition. On the night of my first stay, I spotted a baby roach in the bathtub. Not even 30 mins later, I spotted a big roach coming from the mini fridge cabinet. I informed the staff, and luckily they were able to put me in another room located on the second floor. The hallway on the second floor smelled better. The room itself was better than the previous. All in all, my stay was sketchy and will most likely never book this hotel again.

Hotel was right on the water. Beautiful views and great access to the water. Our room was an oven view balcony with kitchenette. The room was dated but ok. The kitchenette and bathroom need a complete remodel. For the price and what we needed this Hotel was fine! Service was great!

Hotel needs to be updated and remodeled, looks dirty. The hotel room doors slam shut waking up the whole floor and took 20 swipe of the key card to open. Beach access was very nice but that was the only good thing about the place.

The best small hotel on the beach. It’s clean, comfortable, and has fabulous ocean views. The staff are friendly and treat you like family. We stay a couple of nights 2 or 3 time a year, and the manager knows us by name. We highly recommend it

It was a quiet hotel, staff was really nice. Hotel is showing signs of age.

The bed was very hard and not comfortable. The pillows were not very good. The comforter was old and all the fill had crumbled and moved to the corners. However, it was still clean and warm enough. Overall the room was fairly clean and spacious and the staff was very good. Don't let them put you on the 9th floor until they replace the beds. Don't get the room between the elevators- noisy.

The only problem we had was trying to regulate the air conditioner. We were too cold and tried to turn it up but it kept turning off.

Bathroom old needs renovation bed has sink hole in the center

Room was clean, staff excellent, beach view wonderful. Main issue was the AC unit may have had the drain tray runoff possibly blocked, causing dampness in the room. Location has many pluses, right on the beach, with many restaurants close by.

Ocean front balcony view with a full moon rising over the ocean was gorgeous. Quiet room, clean, bed was springy but comfortable. My wife and I had a great time and hope to return.

It’s true that some challenges came up during my stay, but many were due to external factors—like the aftermath of a hurricane—or the actions of other guests. For example, the breakfast shortage wasn’t the staff’s fault; it happened because some guests took more food than they needed, even filling their bags and leaving little for others. What truly stood out, though, was how the staff handled everything with such kindness and grace. They treated us as if we were part of their family, always going the extra mile to make sure we felt welcomed and supported. Marc, in particular, is someone we won’t forget. His kind heart and positive attitude shone through every interaction. He went out of his way to help everyone, always with a smile, and his genuine care made a lasting impression on us. I also want to thank the two amazing women at the reception who were so thoughtful and attentive. One of them took her morning coffee every day on the sofa with my autistic son, making him feel seen and valued. It’s a small gesture, but it meant the world to us. Another staff member checked in with us daily, asking if we needed anything, and the maintenance team was equally incredible. These little acts of kindness added up to make our stay memorable. The property may have its flaws, but the staff’s warmth, empathy, and dedication are what truly define this place. We can’t wait to come back !

Unfortunately we have a bad experience with front desk lady seams like she has preferences for white skin very unprofessional treatment received from her but everything changed with a white guest after me and another non White guest she didn't provide me the code to get back on the property after I checked out no even a thank you for your stay or comeback soon I don't know if the current immigration situation in Florida makes this personal feel entitled to descriminate Hispanic people but this is very unprofessional.

The staff here was amazing, they were super helpful during a difficult weekend and allowed my vechicle to stay parked on property, well after my check out. Thank you to the team for also going above and beyond to help communicate while we were out of the country.

Customer service was Wonderful!! I was truly pleasantly surprised how Wonderful it was staying here definitely will come back.

Overall very nice place to stay. The woman at the front desk did not seem very helpful and we felt like she didn’t even want to check us in, just a very bad attitude. Later there was a gentleman behind the counter and he was very kind and very accommodating. The housekeeper were also very nice and helpful.

We had a great stay!! Ocean front and a kitchen at this price? Great deal! Check in was easy and Room was clean. Balcony with two queens and a kitchen! Kitchen was great addition to their continental breakfast. We were able to make our own eggs. We spent all our time at the beach and the pool and only wished the Tiki bar was open. Seasonal starts around summer. Fine, I brought my own bar. Mark was friendly and so was the entire staff. Coffee available all day and never had a problem finding a parking spot. This is not a luxury resort but definitely got bang for the buck!!! We left very happy and wouldn’t mind staying again soon!

Good location

Great location. Away from the hub of the downtown area but not that far that you can't get to restaurants and other attractions. Staff are great. Very simple hotel/resort and the prices are very reasonable. Right on the beach with free access to the beach. Very clean.

Fast check-in, clean and spacious rooms, and unbeatable beach views 🌊✨ We had a great time and would definitely recommend—affordable and relaxing! Only suggestion: keep the pool cleaner on busy summer weekends. Still, such a great stay—thank you!

On beach

Location is very good, beach is close, pool was clean, Hotel needs a bit of an update and matresses need to be replaced, but overall an enjoyable stay. Staff was freindly

We looked for a quiet weekend overlooking the Atlantic for a reasonable rate. We got what we were hoping for: a spacious room overlooking the beach and ocean (and pool deck and hottub). LOVED IT! Breakfast was less than minimal - but lots of places close by to have breakfast, but wouldn't count on that unless you love yogurt - didn't really matter to us. But that room - wow!

Pro: on the beach Con: seaweed piled in the stairwell. Pro: had a hottub Con: hottub was broken. Pro: breakfast provided Con: it was PopTarts and yogurt. The people giving 4-5 stars must have only ever stayed in rent-by-the-hour in downtown Detroit.

Their cold continental breakfast was only from 7:00-9:00, but we were NOT informed of the short hours. So when we went downstairs to eat at 9:07, there were locks on both fridges and the clerk initially said she wouldn't unlock them. After I said that was crazy and bull to my 3 kids, she did unlock them so we could grab a few items although she didn't see happy about it. I chose that place for the complimentary continental breakfast.

Was not as shown on the website. Tiki bar was not operating. Hot tub never cleaned the 3 days we were there. Charged us one price for one day and then up the price for the remaining days. Do not recommend. Unless these things don't bother you. No restaurant on site.

While the staff were consistently friendly and attentive, and the oceanfront location and views are truly outstanding, I feel compelled to provide honest feedback about the condition of the room and facilities during my recent stay. Regrettably, the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the accommodation fell far below acceptable standards for a property of this category: • The room had a persistent musty odor combined with a strong smell of wet dog. • Kitchen appliances were heavily rusted and covered in various deposits and residue. • Visible dust, hair, and debris were present on the bed linens, blankets, and flooring. • Walls, baseboards, and appliances are in urgent need of repainting and thorough refurbishment. Additionally, the breakfast offering was extremely limited, consisting only of basic cereal and frozen juice, which does not align with the expectations set for the property. The friendliness of the staff and the prime oceanfront location are genuine strengths; however, the serious deficiencies in cleaning, maintenance, and basic amenities significantly impacted the overall experience and represent issues that require immediate attention is needed.

I've stay at many beach hotels before and this one did not disappoint. It was clean and looks updated. The plugs were a little hard to get to and nowadays with cell phones, etc extra outlets would have been nice. The breakfast was also lacking..only cereal and a few pastries. The pool and hot tub overlook the ocean which was great in the morning. A great little find!

Beautiful ocean view. Tv only had 7 channels & bed was not comfortable. Key to the room wouldn’t swipe majority of the time. Breakfast choices were coffee, milk, yogurt, or a mini muffin.
