Grandstay Apple Valley

The front desk gentleman was amazing very helpful. Our room was very spacious and clean. The pool however was very small and the heavy chlorine ruined my swimsuit. It went from purple to pink and we all had strained eyes and coughs afterwards.

The location was good and the price was good. We checked into our room to find dirty dishes in the dishwasher - not a good start. There is no housekeeping available (unless you stay 7 days) but the cleaning staff were accommodating to our requests for coffee and tp. The pool was the smallest I have ever seen - and the hot tub was closed "for repair" (forever?). The laundry room had 2 washers - both out of order for our entire stay. The front desk was usually manned when we stopped by, but we had to wake the attendant twice. He was not able to provide coffee refills nor dishwasher soap for our room. Overall, although the price seemed like a good value, the quality was below our basically average standards. We would not book this hotel again.

Our toilet didn’t flush, there was no lights in the living room. The pool area was not cleaned. The hot tub didn’t work. Yikes guys

I'm sure at one point.It was a very nice hotel in poor condition. No licensure in the one elevator, to close the doors in the elevator the button was broken. In our room, the dishwasher was not even put in properly and interesting smells, simply painted over cabinets, new flooring. So 1/3 the way done in terms of reconditioning rooms.. Hallway Carpet, not in good condition. Bathroom also not very clean or kept up. Bathtub with a shower filled up around your ankles. The young lady that checked us in never smiled, never greeted me, non-helpful.

Check in was smooth, welcoming and efficient. My 2 BR suite was in moderate condition. A little dirty. Pop splatter on the walls and something smelly under the fridge. Handprints all over the tvs. For some reason we were given the handicapped accessible room. The day staff were not welcoming or knowledgable. These rooms are advertised with full fridge and kitchenette. Nothing to cook with in the room and there are no utensils. The fridge was dorm sized. The public areas of the hotel are clean and in good repair. The pool and hottub are postage stamp sized but clean and warm. This hotel is overall comfortable but a little under supplied and under cleaned.

Breakfast was very good. The pool was small and not maintenance. The gym needs some upgrades only 3 running machines not weights or area for stretching.

The rooms are very large, with comfortable beds and furniture. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was decent with many choices. Only downside is that the pool and hot tub are very small.

Spotlessly clean, great location. No idea why they don’t charge more. (Nobody tell them tho…I love getting a good deal)

The staff was nice, but the place is poorly maintained. All vending machines say “do not use”, hot tub was broken, ceilings were leaking and there was visible black mold. Sinks not clean-hair in sink from previous guests.

Smell of room was awful and got worse as turned on air or heat. Mold growing in bathroom.

Had a 7 night stay. After the first morning we didn’t eat there again. We went to Perkins Restaurant every day. Lousy choices, lousy food, shortages of most of the items available. The room was okay. Kitchen table had dried paint on it. Virtually no silver ware or cooking utensils and plates or glasses or Cups. The shower was awful. It’s a so called accessible bathroom. I pity the power handicapped person that gets this room in the future. The shower head which could be hand held was NOT adjustable. The water came out at a velocity that literally was painful to your skin and especially sensitive areas. I personally spoke to the hotel person in duty and explained the issue and they said they had no complaints. I don’t believe it for a minute. We asked for a room change as this was following our first night stay of a 7 night stay. They said they could Not Change our room. I was told we couldn’t get a refund be ause we booked thru hotels.com. We literally left and paid another hotel in Eagan, MN about 6 miles away so we paid for two hotel stays at rhe same time as we couldn’t stay the rest of the time at the GRANDSTAY in Apple Valley, MN. We have stayed at this Grand stay 5-6 different times over the last 5-6 years and sidnt encounter any issues that couldn’t be resolved. After this horrible stay we will never stay here again.

The staff was limited. The suite we got had little to no dishes, tv didnt work, pool area had gum stuck to window, no towels,

Service was great! Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the bathroom in our room. The toilet and shower were not clean. There was a ton of dust along the top of the shower and the toilet had a black/brown ring around the top of the bowl

I am so happy we found this place! Spotless room. Bed was just the right amount of soft but supportive. Super convenient location. Staff was friendly and attentive. And the best part… we stayed in a suite with a full kitchen for the cost I would have expected to pay for a fleabag hotel. DONT MISS THIS PLACE

The room we stayed in was dirty… my husband killed a giant spider as soon as we walked in. There was another dead spider in the room and a black worm of some sort crawling in the bathroom.

Our room was definitely not well cleaned. Not just before our stay either. We moved a dresser in one of the rooms because we dropped an earring and the pile of garbage and dirt was unbelievable. We did take a picture, but unsure how to upload it here. Housekeeping wasnice to come and clean it up but front desk was not. The rest of the rooms were ok, not well kept though.

It just needs a lot of updating. Broken trim, chipped, cracked and stained counters and cabinets. My wall had coffee or doda all down the wall and the shower curtain was covered in hair. Bed was clean.

Even though it has been updated it still felt old. The rooms echo and the walls are paper thin.

The rooms are large and offer a variety of amenities including a small kitchen area. Definitely could use some upgrades but definitely a great option for the price.

Did not like fridge size. TV remotes eere identical and confusing

The room was big and it was really nice having a dining table with chairs and the ability to cook meals instead of having to eat out all the time. The elevator was my least favorite thing because it was old and slow and looked like the floor was always dirty. There is only one elevator and the stairs are hard to access from floor to floor.

Just in need of updates to rooms. Floor raised in bathroom and paint peeling above tub. Bed comfy, fridge cold, tv was somewhat limited and WiFi in and out. Room keys had to be redone daily through our 1 week stay! Otherwise it was good

We booked the 1 bedroom suite with 2 queen beds. Very spacious. It had tons of room. Full fridge, microwave and 2 burner stove. They must have built that hotel well cause i didnt hear anyone on either side of me or above me at all. I stayed for 5 days and the only time i heard anyone from my room was 2 ladies in the hallway laughing really loud. Thats it and my room was right infront of the elevator. Very nice staff and accommodating. I as there with just my toddler and i and felt completely safe. Great location, around alot of restaurants and shop. Convenient! We'll definitely stay here on my next visit.

Our stay at Grandstay did its purpose. Room was clean, but showing its age in places. Also, unfortunately we could smell that someone had previous smoked in the room. Overall we’d grade this property with an average grade.

Room and building was obviously not kept up super well. It was nice layout and room size was excellent

Well I stayed at this hotel because we rented one of the banquet rooms for my daughter’s grad party $$$. Well I tried to check in at 1:30 so I could get ready for the party. The front desk lady was so rude and said it was not ready ok understandable. Then went back at 2:40 and it still wasn’t ready and she said she had to go upstairs and check and would be back in 15-30 min. Well she finally came back at 3:12 and I was able to check in…late. The party started at 3. The room was barely cleaned. The shower was dirty and had a wet washcloth from the prior guests. I just can’t believe how rude she was. I get it they were short on help but she could have told me that from the start.

32 minutes before a check in clerk came to the front desk then, another 40 minutes before our room was available.

Always a great stay at the grand stay! This is my go to hotel! Clean, affordable and the customer service is always friendly!

We reserved a two bedroom suite. Upon arrival we were given a studio room. When I showed my actual booking the front desk clerk shrugged and said “We have you in a studio.” I asked if I could have the room I booked and he shrugged and said “We don’t have any available.” He couldn’t care less. I asked to speak with his manager and he said he could only call manager in emergencies; which this did not qualify. It being late and having driven all day from out of state, we stayed in the studio (cramped of course). Dirty dishes in dishwasher. Soap dispenser empty. Not enough towels, only a half roll of toilet paper. No sheets for roll out bed. Entire property is crumbling. Filth rings the pool. Dirty towels and food all over pool area. Beams and external doors rusting, paint peeling, tiles cracked everywhere, handicap door buttons don’t work (not ADA compliant). Continental breakfast was mostly bad. Only one toaster for about 15 people waiting for the breakfast. Eggs were overcooked and dried out. Coffee was actually ok. The maids were friendly and greeted us every time we saw them, so that is refreshing. I travel a lot and this place was the worst I’ve stayed at in recent memory.

Nate at the front desk helped us fix the broken tv and the broken thermostat and was very friendly

Important parts of the rooms were clean, but then walls and light fixtures and such were not. Hot tub was out of service. One staff member was amazing and friendly and helpful and the other one was one of the rudest least helpful people I’ve ever met. Terrible. Lots of parking. Breakfast was good. There for four days and got zero housekeeping. Had to track down clean towels and coffee and never had our linens removed or garbages emptied.

The stay here was the worst I've ever had a hotel. While getting breakfast (and before checking out), housekeeping entered our room, threw away groceries we just purchased, and took my girlfriend's belongings to the counter. To top it off, there was a "do not disturb" sign I left on the door. When speaking to the Ass. Gen. Manager, she immediately became defensive and uncooperative in finding a resolution to the matter. And said the general manager won't be available for a month. The initial intrusion and inconvenience left us feeling violated, and has caused my girlfriend all kinds of anxiety. The assistant manager's response left me more upset and angry than the housekeeping incident. I recommend finding another place to stay if you value your safety and security, especially if you are a lone female traveler. I'll never stay here again and highly recommend you find a place to stay with better management and customer service. In addition to this incident, some toiletries like lotion and toothbrushes were missing initially and we only noticed after the housekeeping intrusion. Additionally, all of the rooms in the suite felt unsweeped or dirty. The fit and finish of the rooms was subpar. The flooring doesn't run all the way to the walls, there are nail holes with mission mirrors or paintings, and the adjustable shower wand rail ends up lowering to about 4 feet and is very difficult to raise up again. A terrible experience from a bad assistant manager in 1star place.

Hotel was clean, quiet and the staff was kind and attentive. There was a dollar store across the street and Target around the corner. The location was less than 20 minutes from the zoo, the Mall of America, and beautiful Minnehaha Falls!

Friendly staff. Loved the kitchen/living area with the separate bedroom. You felt like you had an apartment. Husband loved the juice/coffee machine was on all the time. Several xs we came back late and stopped to get a drink. The breakfast/dining area is nice and clean. Some hot choices as well. Loved the location. Clean, comfortable beds, location...all ✔️

It was a good stay but a great price. Breakfast was good, (great muffins) normal except for black bananas My room was clean and comfortable but also directly over the restaurant associated with the hotel. It wasn’t terrible every night but the noise from the parking lot was enough to wake me up. Water was just hot enough not to complain. Not quite there for people that like a hot shower. Skimpy on large towels. My key cards stopped working three times which involved a trip back down the long hall and an elevator wait. A guest told me to keep the card away from my phone and that seemed to work, not sure because I checked out the next day. This could easily have been a great stay with just a little more effort- More towels, hotter water, tell guests to keep key card away from phone. Fresh fruit please.

The hotel was nice, and the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed due to plumbing issues for part of my stay, and the Wi-Fi only seemed to work in the hallway of my floor.

Breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly. The room was nice and clean. And parking was great.

We were looking for a whirlpool suite with a restaurant near by as well. This hotel fit the bill, and though our stay went well, there was room for improvement. The breakfast offered was lacking, with the juice dispenser down and therefore only milk and coffee offered. The property could use some updating, but our bed was comfy, though the frame squeaked and made noises with any movement. The whirlpool was great and had a TV nearby, though the remote only adjusted the volume and wouldn't change the channel. The a/c worked well and there was water pressure in the shower, but almost too much. Whirlpool suites can be rare, so it was worth it for that but otherwise we might choose another option.

In need of a refresh. Breakfast eggs & coffee was cold

Breakfast was ok. Most things were not real hot, always gone, and needed to ask to get more instead of them just checking. Rooms need a little TLC. I did, however, appreciate the bedroom being shut off from the kitchen/living room area. Need area rugs for noise absorption. Need hooks to hang jackets and hooks on the bathroom to hang towels.

The stay is always very nice and all our needs were met. The shower head needed to be replaced, we didnt make a complaint so they probably wont know. The breakfast is really nice. It has a very large variety of foods, love the chocolate milk and the coffee has caffine in it.

We had a mixed time with our stay. The room was excellent and very clean but the grounds outside were very dirty and the trash can outside the rear main entrance was full the whole 2 day stay we was there. Breakfast was what you would normally find but the one lady there was so overworked. She was running so hard to keep the breakfast full and running smoothly. She did amazing for how busy it was. So busy in fact the dining room was packed and people were taking their food outside or back to their rooms. Shes gotta be one of the hardest workers there and kept a huge smile on her face and never got upset while under huge pressure. Kudos to her, she definitely deserves a raise and someone hired to help her on the weekends.

Restaurant on the property that was very good. Room was very clean and beds were comfortable.
