A boutique Inn. Inspite of the heavy sowfall we paid for parking / it was available for us . It would be great to have a spot assigned with at least 1 handicap spot. Easy check in. Lovely breakfast with fresh croissants / hot eggs / sausage or bacon. Will be back next week for 2 nights as we wrap up our Ottawa / Montreal winter vacation.

Very central location with underground parking (charged). Nice balcony on the room which was comfortable and clean. Safe in the room and a nicely equipped kitchenette. Good bathroom. Good breakfast with lots of fresh fruit and a hot option. Super staff on front of house. Would highly recommend for 2/3 nights in Quebec.

The hotel itself is great. The space is clean, the rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. My only complaint is parking. The car park has space for eight cars, and we were just fortunate to be able to get a space. The spaces are extremely tight (and not all guests park in between the lines, making it even harder to park), and there was one morning we had to get a staff member to move his car as we were blocked in. There was a bit of a push for us to check out early, assuming so he could use the space, but I made it clear we'd be back. This was at 6:30 a.m. with checkout at 11 a.m.! The "self parking available" is a little misleading when you consider this, as I'm assuming parking would be in a city car park next door. This is just something that needs to be noted better.

Rooms were basic, but clean. Ours had a large balcony which was a bonus. Location is great. Easy walk to many bars, restaurants, and tourist areas. Note that there is only parking for 8 in the hotel underground lot so pre-book if you have that option! The included breakfast buffet had a decent selection of choices, well stocked, and good quality. Great value all around.

This was our first time staying at the Byward Blue Hotel and it certainly did not disappoint. We loved the convenience of being close to Byward Market. We loved that it is nestled away on a quiet street a stones throw from shops and restaurants and a lively area of the city. Our room was cute and cozy and exactly what we expected from seeing the pictures on this site. We stayed on the sixth floor and loved that we had the outdoor space of a private balcony. The weather was gorgeous so we made good use of this outdoor space. The staff were excellent and very helpful. We enjoyed our chats with the guest services attendants both day and night. The morning breakfast was convenient and a nice selection of hot and cold foods and beverages. Parking is very limited for the property. There are nine underground parking spots for the hotel and it must be reserved ahead of time. However, no worries because there is an underground public parking structure just down the street from the hotel and the price is very reasonable for both weekday and weekend stays. We ended up staying for an additional two nights and were not disappointed in the least. Well worth a stay. I know that we will return!

Angelo at the front desk was friendly and very helpful! The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. It is located an easy walk to Parliament and Byward Market with lots of good restaurants in the area. Nice breakfast was provided There is a good parkade a couple doors down.

Fabulous find. Room was amazing featuring really nicely equipped kitchenette, large room with balcony, great bed and bathroom. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Parking was easy, in the public garage right next door which cost CAD 50 for 3 days. The position of the hotel was perfect with easy walking to everywhere. Can't recommend highly enough.

I have a confession, I've been gatekeepering this place for over 6 years hoping nobody would notice how great it really is. Ok, thats a lie. Truth is I recommend The Byward Blue Inn to anyone I know who is traveling to Ottawa. The rooms are smallish but well kept, and always a bottle filtered spring water in the fridge. The rest of the hotel is always clean... and the breakfast. Simply the best bang for your buck or Euro, or whatever.

Pros: Very nice property in a great location. Staff was very friendly. Complimentary breakfast was delicious. Room was nice with pretty decor and lovely paintings. Shower was hot. Cons: Sound of elevator hydraulic system reverberates through the whole property all night long. So if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Found long black hair in the bathroom sink along with shards of glass on floor.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Conveniently located and my room was lovely. The bathroom is a bit dated (as are the hallways) but the room itself was upgraded, clean, comfortable , I had housecoats and bottled water and breakfast was great. I left behind my phone charger and it was waiting for me at the front desk in a bag with my room number. I could not ask for better service. I will 100% stay here again. Thank you for being a hidden gem in Ottawa .

They do have parking available but the entrance driveway and the spots are ridiculously narrow. I suggest parking in the public lot right next door. We liked the hotel - great location. The rooms are old but have all the advertised amenities and it was clean when we arrived. We spent three night there and our room was never cleaned during our stay even though, on the second morning we specifically requested that it be cleaned.

The room was clean and quiet. Staff were helpful and kind. Only concern was the mattress was VERY soft and not that comfortable. Also, if a guest is interested in watching TV (we weren’t), it was not working. The location is perfect for exploring Byward Market area, government buildings and the canal. Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of Byward Market in Ottawa. There a ton of food and drink options nearby and the hotels breakfast was great with really good food and attentive staff. Easily one of my fave hotels in Canada (this being my second time staying there and we will come back for sure).

Overall pretty amazing place. Great lication and the room is clean and spacious. Well appointed for sure. Kettle, etc.. It is strange having a double twin bed configuration in this style of hotel.

Room is bright, spacious, clean and so was the bathroom. Balcony was a very special feature. Centrally located in downtown Ottawa, it is now my first choice hotel whenever I return. Reception and management were professional, extremely efficient and accommodating. This was an excellent experience.

I wish I could give 5 stars to the staff and services. The staffs in breakfast room and room service who greeted and smiled at you. But the front desk not so much. The night when we checked in, the old guy behind the check in counter was rude and impatient when I asked for the parking directions. He shouldn’t be in hospitality business.
I wish I could give 5 stars to the staff and services. The staffs in breakfast room and room service who greeted and smiled at you. But the front desk not so much. The night when we checked in, the old guy behind the check in counter was rude and impatient when I asked for the parking directions. He shouldn’t be in hospitality business.

I couldn't get my safe to work -- told the front desk by phone & no one came up to help me. I told them 2 more times in person that I thought the battery was dead & it was never fixed. & Front desk staff seemed more interested in conversing on the telephone while I stood in front of him rather than greeting me & checking me in. I DID really like the room -- no carpet & it felt clean. I also liked the kitchenette with a great kettle, real dishes and utensils AND real mini milks & creams for coffee/tea. There was coffee and tea always available in the breakfast area too. And a code to be buzzed in as a guest from outside, so it felt safer. It's also within a quick walk to lots of food, a big mall, and Rideau canal! For skating! Id stay here again. Great value

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Conveniently located and my room was lovely. The bathroom is a bit dated (as are the hallways) but the room itself was upgraded, clean, comfortable , I had housecoats and bottled water and breakfast was great. I left behind my phone charger and it was waiting for me at the front desk in a bag with my room number. I could not ask for better service. I will 100% stay here again. Thank you for being a hidden gem in Ottawa .

When we arrived, the receptionist was quite rude and did not make us feel welcome which started our stay with a sour taste. Thankfully, everyone else we met at the hotel including the receptionist in the morning was kind and polite which improved our views on the hotel. That being said, the location of the hotel is ideal, the room was nice and the complimentary breakfast is a good addition.

Staff are very welcoming and aim to please. Breakfast is very tasty. The only small improvement would be their coffee in the mornings. Not very hot and it is very strong. That is a personal preference though so it would be difficult to please everyone. Cafes close by to choose from. Room was quite nice and we had a higher floor. It is quiet at night so no problem sleeping. Great location. Highly recommended

Spectacular location, literally 2 blocks from Byward Market, 15 mins walk to the Parliament Hills, art museum and Royal Canada Mint Museum. Room is clean, space is decent, tons of renovations done. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is better than majority of hotels

Location, location, location. Two blocks to the National Art Gallery, right next to Byward Market. Walking distance to to pretty much all the venues. Major Hill park, Rideau Canal and locks. The breakfast was good, plentiful, simple and well made. Staff were friendly and excellent. There was no down side to this hotel. Public parking garage right next door and reasonable about 34 dollars for two half days and one full day.

The room was clean and had lots of amenities like wine glasses and a coffee maker. The breakfast was good. We saw many homeless people and drug users in the area around The Byward Market which made us feel unsafe.

Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of Byward Market in Ottawa. There a ton of food and drink options nearby and the hotels breakfast was great with really good food and attentive staff. Easily one of my fave hotels in Canada (this being my second time staying there and we will come back for sure).

Excellent all-round experience. My room was spotless and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Decent breakfast with a good variety of items. Very convenient location in easy walking distance of plenty of the major sites, restaurants, etc. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely big room, beautifully clean, nice balcony, very useful kitchenette and lovely modern bathroom. The breakfast was fresh and varied, great helpful staff. The hotel is in a fab location, very close to Byward Market. I’m a solo traveller and would definitely recommend this to others
