Despite only being available for the first night of a weekend break, the lure of staying at the Atholl Palace Hotel couldn't be resisted. We arrived long before we could check in at 3.30pm, so time was spent using the luxury spa facilites and in the bar. We also had a good wander through the wee museum, which was fascinating! The staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The room was spacious and wonderfully decorated, and the bed extremely comfortable. The buffet breakfast was delicious, with so much choice available. Definitely one for a revisit in the future, for more than one though next time!

Amazing property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and regretted that it was only 1 night. The staff were excellent and very efficient. The room was tastefully decorated and very clean. We had a great time in the pool area and hot tub. Overall - highly recommended.

The Athol Palace is truly a gem. The Palace itself is preserved well with minor cosmetic repairs noted. The grounds are lovely and a short walk to town is a must. The swimming pool, hot tub and steam were enjoyed but the sauna not working. The gym was small but workable. The “cozy” double was small but still sufficient. The dining room, bar and common area were all comfortable. The food was average. I stayed on a weekend. There were weddings going on all weekend. I feel the staff was overwhelmed and there was not enough help.

Really enjoyed our two-night stay in one of the turret suites. The hotel was still beautifully decorated for Christmas but very peaceful being a few days after Hogmanay. Overall condition of the building is excellent, especially given its age and historic nature, which must make it a real challenge to maintain. Our room, bathroom and the turret lounge above were very clean and well presented. Excellent comfy super-king bed. Public rooms were lovely - warm and welcoming. Swimming pool area was very clean and a pleasure to use.

This is a historic property with old world charm. The interior is spendidly appointed with period era Scottish countryside decor. The grounds have magnificant views and are filled with beautiful trees and flowers. There is a very nice spa and pool facility that includes a pool, hot tub and steam room. The main dining restaurnat and bar are both fantastic

What a setting - absolutely stunning! Gardens are fantastic, hotel is very clean and tidy everywhere. Spa is excellent and breakfast was very good too. Staff all very helpful. Great 2 night stay

We booked a night to stay at a castle during our trip to Scotland. We were placed in a room on the main floor which was towards the end of a hallway. The room was very musty of which the stench stuck to our clothes even after we left. For the amount we paid, we expected a bit more. The breakfast was better than expected and the staff in the breakfast area were very friendly.

Underwhelming for a £250 per night B&B rate. Lovely looking hotel and gardens but room was tired and dated for this price. Small, tired bathroom. Service was bang average again for the price and although staff ok, they could have made a bit more effort considering the price we were being charged. If I had paid £100 for room I probably would have been happier with things. Not the cleanest place with windows and mirrors dirty around hotel. Breakfast was cold and serving filtered coffee - no excuse for not having a decent self serve coffee machine these days. Our room was hotter than the sauna in the spa area and we had to keep the windows open. All a bit disappointing really.

It’s unfortunate that the stay was such a disappointment. The restaurant staff was horribly rude & inconsiderate. The breakfast staff would interrupt conversations we were having within our group in order to “set the record straight” on what we were saying. I informed them the conversation wasn’t including them. The bread at dinner was moldy. Drink orders were incorrect & when we told the staff, they told us we were wrong & we’re confrontational. There was mold in the shower. The restaurant staff seemed to be short tempered with our entire party of 12. We will never return to this hotel again & spread the word on their rudeness.

The Castle itself is beautiful and the restaurant and bar very nice. The room was fair. The water pressure in the shower was dismal and we we directly above the bar, so I could hear every word in the live music until around 12pm the last night we were there. The housekeeping did not leave us any washcloths or a bathmat the last day we were there and they never cleaned our coffee mugs at all. Although I was disappointed in the accommodations, the staff was very nice.

The hotel was grand from the outside and was beautiful in the snow. Inside was a bit chilly even though they had several, lovely open fires in the main foyet. The carpeted wall lift was small but effective, but was busy at times. Breakfast was hearty and plentiful, but most of the staff in the hotel looked miserable half the time. Our room looked like it had been chopped from a previous larger room, in two, and was very grey, with little thought for interior design. The bathroom was also small with no window and the water pressure in the shower was reduced. There was a bath but u needed to be a munchkin to really enjoy it! The views from our room were stunning but the single glazing allowed the chill in, even though the radiator was on full blast. We wouldn't stay again. Sorry

The location is beautiful, as is the building. Beds were comfortable, linen was good quality, and service was exceptional. There were two negative points - I found it very cold overnight, and provided the hotel with feedback that perhaps an extra blanket could be stored in the room as there was only a quilt on the bed. The other negative was due to the WiFi network limitations we were unable to use the television as there wasn't enough bandwidth to support it and we spent time watching a 'buffering' circle in the middle of the screen. Aside from these two things, this is definitely an excellent hotel to stay at and I would visit again.

Very small room. Clean and fresh but too small for the kingsize bed, it took up most of the room. Cooked breakfast was luke warm. Been made for a while but not kept warm enough. No brown bread, only white bread for toast. Overpriced for what we got.

We’ve stayed several times and have also enjoyed the grandeur and the history of the Victorian hotel. This time we stayed in a Superior Room on the top floor with a view along the valley. The room was spacious and warm. The super king sized bed was very comfortable. The bathroom looked to have been recently renovated. Plenty of choice at breakfast, and all very tasty. We particularly enjoyed relaxing in front of one of the many open fires dotted around the ground floor.

Excellent location and hotel. Staff were great and accommodating. Great on site ammedities. Only downside was the lack of AC in the bedroom meaning it was really hot. However this is common in Scotland.

A luxury hotel that absolutely earns that title and meets the standard that you would expect. Even though the hotel property is not very far from the town of Pitlochry--walking into town and back is no great strain--the property envelopes you in calm and luxury. The woodland paths create distance between you and the mad world. The lobby full of sofas and stuffed chairs invites a lingering stay--a book and an afternoon are all you need. We stayed in a fairly basic room, but it was immaculate and luxurious, with lush and peaceful views down the valley. The staff are exceptional--we were greeted with samples of the hotel's whisky liqueur, which itself was perfect. We enjoyed the "gym" facilities downstairs. Breakfast was absolutely exceptional. After our travels, it was like walking into another world entirely. And the building itself is beautiful. I can't say enough about the experience.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed two great dinners, with all food hot and tasty. Good breakfast buffet too. Wish there was shuttle service back and forth to town, we would have even paid a fee. You can walk to town, but some guests may struggle. We did get free shuttle to train station on departure, which was much appreciated.

Reception was chaotic, no note of my name, no room until they sorted themselves out. Given I had booked 4 rooms very disappointing. Bar and food very expensive. Better menu in the bar than in restaurant. Fine dining prices in restaurant but not food to match. On departure given a bill for my room!! It was prepaid to yourselves months previous! Not impressed. Many new staff with a lack of training. We will not be returning.

Waiting staff very rude. No robe for spar we paid for. Had to undress in tiny room. Heat in hotel was unbearable. Bar staff also unfriendly. Paid to stay the night but left at 7.30 in evening. Very disappointed

We have stayed 3 times at Atholl Palace and it's somewhere that we find very relaxing and it's suits our taste. The room we had this visit was very large with lovely views. From the hotel, it's a nice walk into Pitlochry main street and off the main street you have lots of walks that can be taken.

The hotel is very grand upon arrival, the staff are helpful and welcoming. The breakfast is superb and one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had - lots of options, both healthy and unhealthy. I would say, however, that the rooms are in need of an upgrade. The bathroom I had was quite dated and a shower curtain was used which felt unhygienic. There was also no toilet lid too. Overall an okay stay but I would look to upgrade to a different room next time

We had a really nice stay at Atholl Palace. A great place with decent size rooms and comfy beds. Really friendly staff and great surroundings. We would really recommend booking the BnB with dinner package. We could choose a three-course dinner which was excellent.

The hotel is lovely and full of character with huge, beautiful grounds. My only complaint is that everything is over priced to the point where we ate and drank out all the time. Even at breakfast several items carried a supplementary charge. I have not come across that for "normal" fair before. the same was true in the expensive main evening meal menu. It just seemed mean and greedy. Shame as it was the only negative in a lovely hotel

The hotels grounds are amazing. Even if you don't stay there, it is worth a visit. The restaurant wasn't very good, and the food was expensive. It seems like the hotel has seen better days. Maybe it was worth the price back in the day, but now seems overpriced .
