A very grand hotel set in acres of woodland. The hotel is showing its age a little bit now. But overall we had a great couple of nights stay. Food was fantastic, especially the breakfast

Breakfast was excellent, the bar menu was good. Room was clean and bright. The property is a little worn, needs general maintenance to bring it up a level.

I have mobility issues so it was quite disappointing to find that we were on the second floor and the lift was out of order “awaiting a part”. Check in was fine with a very friendly receptionist. Our room was clean with a fantastic view of the bay. The bathroom was clean and quite large but unfortunately both the basin taps were faulty, erratic flow and took a long time to switch off. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice and the food well cooked. On the downside the evening meal, which we paid extra for, was a served starter and dessert but the main course was a buffet. Except for the roast pork it was unidentifiable slop my wife had Turkey à la king which both looked and tasted vile. The whole hotel needs to be refurbished, worn carpets, peeling paint, dirty windows, armchairs with frayed arms and stuffing coming out and a very unpleasant musty damp smell on the stairwell. Please also note that when we were there it was full of coach parties, probably three so meal times were frantic. Needless to say I won’t be going again and I cannot believe it has an average review of 4/5 I think I have been generous giving it a 3.

The room was a good size with a lovely sea view; great kingsize bed, when we only expected a double in the classic room; very clean. Breakfast was self-service. Full English was good, although not as hot as when cooked fresh. Limit options otherwise - no crusty bread and only plain yogurt tinned fr
