Stayed 2 nights

Our room no. 12 was quite small but had a large shared decking area with views of the coastline and we sat out there with drinks before venturing out. The decking needs attention with several areas having loose boards and some raised areas. Both of which are safety issues. The room was warm but we had a excellent oscillating fan. The hotel service and staff are excellent and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant on our second evening with views of the sea. We ate at Roma Italian the first evening, which was nice. We used the bar area at times and the terrace and also the outdoor swimming pool one afternoon. Everywhere was quiet and relaxing and we were so lucky with the weather too! Sidmouth is a lovely town and we visited the various gardens and views and walked alongside the river Sid on a circular walk. We explored every corner of Sidmouth! The Salcombe Tap House, (for a beer or wine facing the sea, right at the far east end of the seafront), was very nice as was the beer and wine. You can have a taster first to see what beer you like best, a nice touch! Lovely staff too... Thank you to all at the Harbour Hotel for looking after us so well for our 2 nights stay before heading off to Cornwall and the Eden Project. Rob & Sally Gill

Stayed 6 nights

Booked a single room in May 2026. First room I was given: tiny room, couldn't fully open wardrobe door because bed was in the way, v. limited wardrobe space, not helped by ironing board being kept there. TV not working, no safe, lights not fully functioning, Asked to be moved. Second room: could open wardrobe door, but same problem with storage in the wardrobe ( although ironing board was now stored behind the curtain). Had to live out of suitcase and bags for the week as a consequence: not great or relaxing for a tidy person. No door hooks for coats and robe added to untidiness. Base of bed marked on both sides with what looked like urine, checked the mattress, but that was ok. Housekeeping chaotic. Room not clean. Dirty mark on bathroom floor for two days before I d/w it myself. Safe present. TV catchup not working Reported twice, but not sorted). Biscuits and bottled water provided some days but not others; reported to reception, but nothing done. Last day of stay, decided to eat poolside before setting off. Was told that there was only a sharing menu available on Sundays. I pointed out that I was a single hotel guest, but no alternative was offered: end of a rotten week. Wrote to hotel from home about this, but have received no reply. Would not recommend this hotel.

Stayed 1 night

In a lovely spot not far from the sea and has good views across the bay. Beautifully maintained swimming pool and surrounding area. Some more parasols in the hot weather would be useful. Room was very clean and the portable fan was most welcome as there was no air conditioning. Staff very helpful especially as it was a very busy and hot weekend. Continental Breakfast is available inside the well furnished restaurant or on the lovely outside terrace. Food choice was good with an option for cooked breakfast for extra £10. We really enjoyed our stay and will return.
