Been to mercure a couple times now, room is clean and staff are friendly enough , only thing let down was information on arrival , didnt know pool was closed and after been out at night came back wasnt told had enter through door at side rang door bell 3 times and gentleman on reception didnt budge,

A nice property in a central location in the city center. We found the staff (front desk and lounge) very friendly and helpful. Parking (paid) is directly behind the hotel. Rooms were clean.

A group of us were staying at this hotel whilst in Ayr for a para lawn bowls event. We all put out registration numbers into the iPad on reception and paid the parking to the receptionist. Fast forward we have all received “fines” from a third party company. They refer you to the hotel, the hotel don’t want anything to do with it and refer back to this organisation.

A very basic hotel in a great location. With a few exceptions service very poor (one receptionist very helpful, the others couldn’t care less. Ignored multiple times at the bar so went elsewhere. Breakfast staff pleasant). The hotel is in a terrible state and it surprises me that Accor allow them to use their name (albeit falling off the outside wall). Room comfortable in cooler weather but very dated, and the building and decor are in an awful condition.

I have stayed at the mercure many times but found that it was not as good as before. The bed was very hard and the pillows were of inferior quality 2 of the lights in the room did not work but my bad I did not report it. The location is great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool and health suite still closed after more than a year this is not good enough this was one of the main reasons that we have stayed here in the past, also no air con in the rooms. This hotel is far too expensive for what you get.

Location of hotel was excellent. Walkable to shops , restaurants & Sea front. The one area that seriously needs improvement is the ladies public toilets located next to restaurant & bar. Sinks had taps which were all different styles, 2 sinks had no water… floor & doors could be cleaner ..( very sticky).,whole lot needs ripped out & refurbished. Bar area & restaurant nice and clean & well maintained.

The pleasant lady who checked me in gave me an upgrade to my room and that was most appreciated, especially the wonderful view. The hotel is very tired looking and my room wasn’t cleaned to a high standard. One of the tooth mug glasses in the bathroom had somebody else’s toothpaste marks in it and the tv table needed wiping as well as the remote control. Everything could have done with a deep clean. My room carpet had a black thread on it (not mine) and what looked like burn marks on the carpet. Hotel doors were well worn and needed painting and the iPad I touched to confirm my parking arrangements was gritty to the touch. I wanted to wash my hands because of this. The downstairs cloakrooms were chipped and tarnished and the whole place needs a lot more care. The flooring I saw beyond reception looked absolutely filthy so expecting staff to work in that condition is a pretty poor. I choose the Mercure as it’s a known brand in a good location but it gives an air of neglect and I would be reluctant to visit that brand again.

Mercure do not tell you that the hotel is used for Ukrainian refugees. Not a problem, but they do not know how to be quiet in a hotel. Doors banging all night. Up talking. Had to move rooms due to noise. Rooms not clean. Bogys adorned the bathroom walls. Pubic hairs in the bath. They didn’t even come and clean our room the one day!!! Boy racers up and down the road outside. Noisy pub next door. I didn’t really sleep. My 9 year old daughter was distressed. Not at all happy as I used 2 of my free stays that I had built up with you. I will be complaining directly to Mercure about it.

The hotel is needing some work and the bathroom wasnt clean but room had new carpet, the staff were really friendly and the breakfast was excellent. I'd stay again. The seagulls in the area are very loud - the town needs to address it - not only the volume of noise, but their behavior and the trail of bird droppings they leave behind.

The room was tiny, with just enough space to get along 2 sides of the bed with the bed shoved into a corner. The hotel is very tired and needs a facelift. Ayr seems very depressed.

Rooms could do with being refreshed as shower was damaged and there were no plug sockets next to the bed. Had to ask for an extension lead as i have medical equipment i need to pkug in next to the bed. Receptionists were both lovely, helpful and accommodating.

Enjoyed our stay! Wasn't impressed with menu options so ate away from the hotel. Had paid for a "privilege" room which we were really pleased with until we tried to sleep. Two of the three windows would not close properly leaving visible gaps. This meant that there was traffic and seagull noise all night. Will not be returning any time soon!

Great location for the Ayr Festival that we were attending. The room was perfect for an overnight stay. We basically used the room to sleep in, so we never used any of the facilities or the restaurant. It would have been good to have a fan or air conditioning as it was very hot during the night

Was not told of any payment for parking. Put our cases in a locker in a room . Locker wouldn’t shut and bags just fell on floor . Blonde girl said the doors don’t shut properly but main door will be locked . Was very strange . Attitude of blonde girl on desk was shocking. Very abrupt. And spoiled our stay straight away . I nearly walked straight out . But my friend calmed me down. Very poor people skills and aggressive. Worst I’ve ever came across.

Hotel was very clean Only negative I have is when checking out the guy at reception ran out after me saying I had an outstanding bill! Which I hadn’t When I went back in there’s was a girl on reception who checked and I was correct Guy said he doesn’t usually do reception and wasn’t sure what to do Maybe best to have only fully trained staff at reception to prevent this happening to anyone else

Great Rooms, great location. Much nicer looking inside than out! Nice clean open bar and lobby area. Helpful staff. The only criticism was how mean the breakfast service was. They seemed to be on a mission to hand out the smallest amount of food possible. 40 people trying to eat, eggs coming out 12 at a time, bacon coming out 12 slices at a time. No beans, no bread, no pastries.........

Room with a View. We had room 665 and the view from the room was Amazing. Room was Clean and Tidy, Nice Comfy bed and Nice Large soft towels. No Faults about the Room. Only one complaint was the Shocking Expensive Bar Prices. Save your money and go outside, there are plenty of bars and restaurants near by.

Reception area looked good. Arrived early so sat in lounge until check in time. Our room was on 6th floor & looking out towards sea. Room itself was very outdated. Beds were at least the 3’ width. Not much space to get out of bed on one of them. We found the toilet did not flush unless you did 3/4 times. During the night there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in bathroom.. I knew I was not imagining things when my wife also reported it to me. Mentioned this to reception. Evening meal, selection on menu very poor. In fact us & another family related couple were the only 4 in there. After long drives we did not fancy trying to find somewhere else. Breakfast, fresh fruit had run out. Waitress said more being prepared. Be 5 minutes. Was told this on 3 occasions. 20 minutes later a bowl of pineapple & some chunks of water melon appeared. One coffee machine stopped working. It was still not working on following morning. Quassants tasted stale. Bearing in mind that the room rate had doubled as it was Ayr gold cup weekend. Nearly £250 /night. Plus car park charges per night of £7. I will not ever be stopping there again. Choose wisely. Another family member stayed at another hotel close by & were also very dissatisfied so maybe it’s an Ayr thing.

Stayed for 2nights, check in was fast and the receptionist was lovely. From check in till we left the staff were all very helpful and nothing was too much bother. Breakfast was varied and plenty, dinner at night was also enjoyable. Will probably return in a couple of months for another stay for a wedding. Thanks to all staff.

Hotel needs refurbished out of date. The room was very dated. Furniture was terrible the windows were blown and need replacing. The views from the window are spectacular but were spoiled by the windows. Shame could be much more. Went for breakfast on the first morning the food was excellent. Also the staff were very helpful. Second day was terrible £14 each for the food. Nothing was ready had to wait for every single item. The receptionist had to help out. The breakfast staff not interested in any customer totally ignored everyone very poor. Never went back on the third day. Would not stay there anytime after that. Could be a lot lot better.
