Fairfield House Hotel

Hotel was well situated and easy to find with plenty of parking. The rooms we had were quite basic but clean and one room had no window that offered a view. The beds weren’t comfortable although they were sizeable. The leisure center was ok apart from the jacuzzi was out of action. The staff were very good and very helpful but I feel the hotel had room for improvement to make it more modern.

Really helpful staff, managed to park in the hotel car park, also used the pool with kit children. Food was lovely too.

Booked a last minute stay and was pleasantly surprised. A lovely traditional hotel with all the 'trimmings' - grand foyer & staircase, hotel dining room serving dinner as well as breakfast, lovely well appointed room. Pool was as you'd expect but fitness centre was above average with a greater range of equipment that is uusual in my experience. Dinner was ok, breakfast was excellent. Free parking on site. Located just off the beachfront.

The Staff were brilliant & friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely big room with amazing views of the sea & across to Arran. We hardly used the TV, just sat & watched the weather change & the sunsets from the comfortable chairs in our room. The food was good quality, but I personally found the restaurant very warm (I struggle with overheating) and this affected my dining experience. Overall a great place to stay & even enjoyed a dip in the pool.

I decided to spend a weekend in this hotel for my wedding anniversary. I had booked a double executive room. We get a room No.: 44 The accommodation: Our room had a view of the roof full of air ducts from the kitchen and swimming pool, from which constant noise and smell spread. I've been in the many hotels before, but here was smallest bed at all. (only a double), the hand shower in the bathroom did not work, there was mold in the corners of the shower. The Leisure center: The water in the pool had not been changed for at least a year, the color was cloudy, the floor around the pool was dirty and damaged, the hot tub was out of order, empty and the service worker told me that it had been broken for a long time. The showers, saunas and locker room were fine. Catering: We had a delicious dinner, on hot plates, the service was pleasant, prompt, but the cutlery was dirty with someone's fingerprints. after the complaint the staff immediately replaced it. It happened both evenings. We ordered hot breakfast, but it was brought to us already cold and dry. It was definitely pre-prepared at least 1 hour before serving. It happened both mornings. This hotel has invested in modernization, but in small details it is run-down and neglected. I will definitely not return here and I will not recommend it to my friends.

Nice place to stay. Free tea, biscuits, coffee and hot chocolate. Rooms nice with space but could do with a good clean in the bathrooms. Showerhead had black mould, shower curtain (glass) was broken and water went all over the floor. Rooms noisy could hear people talking clearly through the front door. When the room above had a shower or flushed the chain it was like sitting under a waterfall of the noise. Staff lovely. Gym was good but again could do with a clean. Handles on most machines were sticky and so was the floor.

Lovely stay with my 11 year old. Staff friendly, polite and helpful. Hotel clean, tidy and welcoming.

Very satisfied with our two night stay at the Fairfield. We would definitely stay again. Everything from check in, spaciousness of the room and bathroom, excellence of the breakfast, courteous staff, cleanliness etc. to check out was great. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The swimming pool area wasn't to clean. The doors need cleaned they are really dirty. The floors in the womens changing room were like big puddles and dirty.p

On arrival found my room was outside in car park rather than hotel. Clearly hadnt been cleaned properly as there was still faeces in the toilet that hadnt been cleaned, Carpet looked un hoovered and overall really dusty

Beautiful room and bathroom. There were stains and marks on bedding, hair in the toilet, leftover water in the kettle. The shower design made water splashes everywhere outside of the shower. Other than those, members of staff were lovely and welcoming.

Shower had erratic hot and freezing water bursts. Very inconvenient . Hair in the bath.

Stayed here for a night to and was very impressed. The hotel is lovely in architecture in the main area's of the hotel, oldie victorian style (I think). My room was huge! Bathroom was Huge! Hallways were fine, a little tired but clean. Staff were incredible throughout and couldn't do enough. Views over towards Arran are beautiful and the Ayr beach promenade is on the doorstep.

Comfortable beds and breakfast very good. Unfortunately was in one of the two annex rooms which was disappointing. directly faced car park and dining room seating area. On entering room could smell the pool adjacent to it. Had to keep curtains closed most of time as felt very overlooked. Possibly a net curtain or other would help though wouldn’t stay again for this reason.

This review may seem harsh as I would consider staying here again JUST NEVER IN THE ROOM WE GOT AGAIN, staff nice but slow and forgot a few times, its an older property that could be refurbished, its near the beach but dining and outdoors looks on to a car park, the room we had room 18 is above the swimming pool and the equipment used to run this is below and so noisy, the room was far too hot as didn't have proper ventilation,

Our room on 1st floor was near large industrial air conditioner which were very noisy

We had a lovely stay for four nights with breakfast. The room was enormous and the bathroom had everything you could want in there. Bed was comfortable, nice selection of instant teas and coffees in the room. The staff were lovely, particularly the hosts of breakfast and the breakfast selection was excellent. It's a short walk from the beach and into the town for shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you to all the staff who work in this hotel.

The first room we where given looked out on to the room of the kitchen which had air con and all sorts of vents making horrendous noise almost like an aeroplane taking off and that was with the window closed. With the window open words could not explain the noise levels. Check in staff where understanding and gave us a different room after our complaint and I was very happy with our new room. Im still in shick though at room 44 which they first offered us.

Beautiful building and excellent location. Some parts of the hotel need some updating but overall very clean. Unfortunately my room was above the kitchen extractor so very noisy and smelly - couldn’t open the window and therefore it was very hot! So if you get room 44, ask for another room. Food was good at both dinner and breakfast, nice staff

I was travelling for work and stayed one night in Fairfield Hotel. When I arrived in the evening at 6.30pm I couldn't get any food, because they couldn't fit me in the already half empty restaurant. I was given a room outside, in an annex in the carpark attached to the swimming pool and the fitness suite. I was uncomfortable and surprised to be sent outside away from the building on my own, this wasn’t noted in the room booking and, as a women on my own, I felt extremely vulnerable sleeping beside an external door to the dark carpark and away from the building in winter. There was a phone, but I didn't have the number to reception in the room. The room was clean. There was no drinking water and there were paper disposable cups rather than reusable cups for making tea. Cars started arriving to park right outside the room from 6.30am so I could not get much sleep nestled between the noise of cars, car doors slamming, and noise from the gym/pool which the room/annex was attached. The staff were all extremely nice and friendly, but I was utterly exhausted for my next day and I would not recommend this hotel from my stay. I contacted management but they did not respond.

Recent two nights stay, hotel just what we wanted staff very friendly and helpful

We arrived a bit early but found the woman on reception was not very pleasant and a bit abrupt. Room was pleasant and clean. We used the swimming pool but the jacuzzi was not workin. Breakfast was very busy and more staff would have helped a bit. Overall the hotel was good value and we would return again

Room was not made up in the morning. The fault with the bathroom extractor was not rectified and the bathroom had a Jacuzzi bath that was not working and when reported we were told the room was not sold with jacuzzi. All it needed was a sign. The leisure pool area looked in need of an update with the jacuzzi here also not working! Overall the staff were very god but the place needed a little TLC.

First class service from all staff especially Christine at reception. This stay was a gift from my daughter and she made a brilliant choice I've enjoyed every minute of my stay.

Clean and comfortable room, looked to have been recently updated. Breakfast had a good amount of options, but they did seem a bit understaffed, as it was very busy. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Excellent value for money. Friendly / helpful staff, great breakfast / room & extra bonus included use of the pool which my grandson loved (could not get him out!). Wish we were staying longer but will be back. Worth every penny.

Arrived and the fire alarm was going off due to a technical fault - despite this the receptionist was brilliant. A friendly face, apologetic for the noise and very professional despite mayhem. The room was large and to an excellent standard - would certainly trecomment the Fairfield

Older hotel with lots of character. Very friendly staff, and fantastic food. I was particularly impressed with how they catered for coeliacs at breakfast with a good range of gluten free alternatives.

Nice enough stay, room was just OK but clean. Bit of noise been above the Wedding function but probably due to booking though hotels.com offer and didn’t go on late. Breakfast was tasty and bar area was comfortable. Staff all very friendly and pool a good enough size. Fantastic location for the beach. Only disappoint was no food available anywhere onsite / room service when we got back to the hotel from a few drinks in the town around 10. Quite aggressively signposted saying no takeaways or external food allowed either.

Friendly yet professional staff from check-in to departure. Very comfortable room with well stocked hospitality tray and bathroom toiletries. Lovely to see large bath sheets for drying yourself. Evening meal delicious and lots of choices as was breakfast the next morning. Would definitely return if we ever had to come to Ayr again. Thank you

Very helpful duty manager got tv working on Netflix. Very friendly. Breakfast staff friendly. Restaurant was nice and clean only to be let down by the breakfast! Hot breakfast on first morning dry and un appealing. Scrambled eggs dry as sawdust. Second day asked for four sausage on one plate and bacon and mushrooms on another. So dried out we had to leave itv. We didn’t bother on our last morning and ate elsewhere

Lovely decoration friendly staff great breakfast

We stayed here for one night on our way home from holiday. From the moment we entered we were made to feel so welcome. Staff were so friendly, polite and helpful. We had use of the leisure complex which whilst not large has good facilities. Our room was very comfortable and contained everything we needed and lots of little touches that just make your stay special e.g. packets of biscuits and hot chocolate along with tea and coffee. We had dinner at the hotel and there was a great choice of well priced meals on offer. Breakfast again was comprehensive and everyones' tastes were accommodated. The location is great just a few minutes walk from Ayr beach and 10 minutes from the town centre. Great value for money!
