Beautiful, older hotel that needs some TLC. Very friendly staff who are always there to help. The room was relatively clean but is desperate for a make over.....it's showing its age. The hotel decor is quite old fashioned with lots of dark wood and old furniture but still very comfortable. Unfortunately, it's not very good value for money. We stayed for 2 nights which were really quite expensive but it was during an Andre Reiu concert weekend so it's only to be expected. The location is ideal for train travellers, which we were, being literally 100 yards from the station. However, it's on the wrong side of the river for the beautiful old town of Maastricht and the big square where the concert is....about 25 minute slow walk. Would we return? Absolutely.

First of all, this could be a nice hotel, if it had air-conditioning in the rooms. But the fan in the ceiling blows normal air. At the same time, the bar and restaurant are air-conditioned! So, "paying customers" are respected, but not the hotel guests. An additional fan is provided in the room - what for, saving electricity?.. Also, the internet connection is slow and can be nonexistent in the evenings. You get used to it in third-world countries, but in the middle of Europe?... Finally, most hotels provide bottled water, at least when one checks in. Here, there is a fridge, and a coffee machine, but no bottled water.
