This review is based on us primarily staying at Dreams/Secrets and Marriott properties. A week at the Dreams in PV was about $1200 Cdn more than this hotel. The room and staff were quite good, really no complaints with the property. My one main disappointment with the trip was the food. While it was definitely ok, there was almost nothing freshly cooked. Everything seemed to be reheated , old and dry or crusty (the omelette bar being the exception, and my favorite meal). I guess you have to weigh the extra cost of $1300 against better meals. For us, it was worth it for this trip. The beach is nice and good for long walks. Pool and pool areas were clean and the staff came around at decent intervals for drinks. It was nice to go in Oct bc it was not at full capacity so we always found a spot at the pool without going down early to put towels out. The gym was decent, clean, and machines worked properly. Drinks were standard all inclusive style, no complaints.

Wonderful stay at the Riu Palace Pacifico! Place was beautiful, drinks wonderful and food delicious with lots of options! Service stood out and everyone was very friendly. Only bummer is the disco and Riu parties were closed. Wish I knew that ahead of time and I could tell many other guests wanted to party but had nowhere to go.

Facilities were clean, food was sub par an unimpressive. Pools were to hot at 95 and party pool was closed for two days. Riu white party was advertised but found out that the sister hotel that held the party was closed. We will not be going back to the Riu Palace.

Overall, this resort was amazing! It was very clean; the food was above average and they had a nice variety of dishes (even as a non-meat eater, I had plenty of options). The fitness center was probably one of the best I’ve seen on a resort. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. One thing that needs improvement is the evening entertainment. A variety of nightly entertainment would’ve been nice. But we still had an amazing time! We would definitely stay here again!

No the room was not spotless. Upgraded to partial ocean view but the balcony was toward the construction site and would wake up with construction noise. They only issue pool towel once per day while your towels are wet. The steak house required a line up. Make up your mind either make it reservation required or walk in. Right now you have to line up and see if you can get in. Generally hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly except the towl girls :):):)

Breakfast was bland and not very good. My room was clean but bath robes were stained and dirty. Staff was not very friendly and they had events for their RIU sales team and closed pools early and all access to beach was closed with no consideration for people staying there. Won’t ever go back to this place again!

After requesting a room change due to the first room not being up to cleanliness standards, everything was fine. I do wish there was more of a selection for the mini bar. The Mexican and buffet restaurants were great. The food at the sports bar is lacking. The pools are too hot by the afternoon when you'd like them to be cool. Beach was amazing. Wish you could get more than one towel per person at a time.

We stayed at this hotel for a week. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but overall, the service was just moderate. Our room was not very clean — there were many long hairs around the room and bathroom, and we had to complain on the first day. We also asked for new sheets because of a stain, and unfortunately, they never changed the sheets during our entire stay. We had to request paper towels and tissues several times, as they weren’t refilled automatically. The restaurants looked nice, but the food quality wasn’t always good, and we sometimes noticed an unpleasant smell near the buffet. On the positive side, the cocktails and drinks were excellent, and the nightly entertainment was perfect — we really enjoyed the shows and music every evening. Hotel facilities were average, and one big disappointment was that the party area was closed during our stay. We were really looking forward to the party nights, so that was a letdown. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not what we expected for the price.

Everything was perfect, everything I’d expect from a newly renovated Riu resort. My only complaints would be that the wifi connectivity was quite poor, it kept cutting in and out and was overall a weak internet connection and did not cover across all areas of the resort. And secondly the service at the steakhouse restaurant was sub-par. There was a long wait time (2 hours) to get a table which we expected but once we finally got a table, it took another hour for our food to be served. The food also did not meet expectations. Otherwise, very happy with everything else!

I loved my stay here. It was the shoulder/low season which made things quiet in general. The food was great. Lots of healthy options and variety. The staff were great and very friendly. I only found that the bed I had was quite soft for my back personally. It was very squishy and I sunk in which made my back hurt after 1 night of sleep. But if I lay horizontal in the bed it kind of had some support. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay at this resort. It was genuinely great. They do provide robes for use but no slippers at least not in my suite, not sure if it just wasn’t stocked. But in any case bring your own slippers for inside your room. Check-in was smooth, friendly, and informative. I do recommend taking an uber there and back as it’s a lot cheaper. Also there was some noise from upstairs. I was staying in the 5th floor but the noise upstairs just ontop of my bed I could hear some small construction happening. 4/5 would definitely come back again. What a wonderful place :)

Great resort - loved it! Service was terrific. Resort was very clean and well kept up. Noisy in the evening while the shows were underway - roughly 8:30-11:00pm. Sept. weather was very hot and humid with little or no relief from the pools or ocean.

I enjoyed everything except the fact that I never got any sleep. I was woken up numerous times a night for all 5 nights of my stay. Being so close to the elevator led to hearing rowdy people at all hours of the night. I heard slamming and carts rolling down the hallway which started at 6am which I think was staff. I do not recommend Room 1050.

Staff was rude. They appeared disgruntled. We left the restarurant a couple of times without completing our stay because of the staff's attitude. If we didnt leave a tip with the bar waiters we would get dirty looks. Always serving the cheapest alcohol brands. The asian restaurant food was so bad we didnt eat it. Entertainmant was mediocre. The best aspect of this place was their pool side waitresses and waiters. They were helpful and nice. There were some other staff that were also nice, but those restaurant waiters and waitresses were awful. The girls at the coffee kiosk also appeared like they hated their job. Will not go back. We've been to other all inclusive resorts similar to this one and had wayyyy better experience.

Our room was not what we booked so it was changed the next day and the new room was nice but the Only issue was the AC would drip water whenever it shut off. One of the sinks in the bathroom was clogged. All-in-all it was okay. Denisse at the front desk was not happy when we told her that the room we booked was not what we got and we asked for it to be changed. All other front desk staff werr very pleasant

My experience at this resort was disappointing overall. I had spent hours researching and carefully choosing what I thought would be the perfect place to celebrate my 40th birthday, and I even brought a group of people with me. I emailed the hotel multiple times before our stay to confirm details and request something special for the occasion, and not a single email was ever answered. When we checked in, not only was nothing meaningful done to acknowledge my milestone birthday, but we were also charged more than expected. All reception did for my birthday was leave a small piece of cake in my room. On the bright side, when we went to the Japanese restaurant for dinner on my actual birthday, the staff there treated me amazingly and even sang a song; that was the only part that felt like a celebration. To make matters worse, I wasn’t even given the room I specifically requested, and the Wi-Fi was terrible; it barely worked most of the time. For a resort of this level and reputation, the lack of communication, customer service, and attention to detail was extremely disappointing. The one thing I can say is that the property itself is very clean; you rarely saw garbage, even in the garbage cans. It would be a really nice place if you’re just going for a getaway or no special occasions, but if you’re expecting to celebrate something meaningful, I would look elsewhere.

The resort is good but falls short compared to the last time my wife and I were there. The American sports bar service was absolutely terrible, as you had to wait forever to get service, drinks or food. We walked out on more than one occasion after waiting forever. With the exception of the Krystal restaurant, the food was not fantastic. The Filet Mignon in the steakhouse was quite difficult to cut, not an issue I normally have with a filet. We went to the buffet for breakfasts and was pleased with the service and food choices. Hope that you can rectify some of these issues as the resort could be great but the Riu just feels like it's just going through the paces rather than trying to improve it's customers experiences.

Had been trying to fix this reservation for 2-3 weeks in advance to avoid a bigger issue, however the hotel and hotels.com were not accommodating or helpful. Getting anyone to help me was like pulling teeth. Hotel staff was pushy to get me off the e-mail/phone when I was asking for help. Sandra from front desk had an attitude the whole time when she was ask to assist me with the reservation. Claimed to be a manager but had no ideas on how to resolve or help the issues. Will not stay here again. Room service food was terrible. There are less than 7 items in the menu and a toddler could’ve made them for you. Sports bar wings were dried up and hard. As if the were put in the fryer and left under a heating lamp for days. Nacho chips were hard and not tasteful. That’s just a hint of what the food is like. Besides the food being very mid and staff with bad attitudes we won’t be staying again. No thanks

Staff is excellent. Friendly, kind and helpful. The rooms and facilities are always clean and attractive. Staff keeps the place spotless. We were there while some very loud repairs were being made near our room. They have to be made sometime, so nobodys at fault. It did make sleeping late a challenge. Food offerings are very diverse and generous. But the quality wasnt as good as I recall from previous stay. So much has to be prepared in advance to meet guests' needs. Always nicely presented.Just seemed kind of "tired" this time. Its a beautiful resort. We had a wonderful time.

The property is beautiful! All the food services from the lobby cafe to the a la cartes were excellent; buffet is very good selection & quality. Staff from front desk to food services to cleaning & landscaping work hard and it makes a luxury experience. The only con to the stay for me (my second visit) was the mattress was quite soft & worn at the "sitting spots" on each side. The Riu Palace location can't be beat - a modest walk on the beach and you're in Bucerias for the flea market, Farmacias, and beachside dining. (Or 180p cab ride each way + tip!) This is my first trip back since renovation & opening as adults-only, and I miss the big pool but it's nice that the pool with the swim up bar is separate now for the "all day crews", if you know you know. We were 6th floor above the theatre, which is loud til 1045 ish depending on the show. We didn't find it an issue (usually reading in bed before 10pm LOL) If you go, sit in Carlos' section at the buffet patio. He's the best!

We had a room on the south outward looking side of the resort, the views of the mountains and sunrise were amazing ( 6th floor), the city at night and the bay looking south to the mountains there too. There was some construction going on next door but honestly was more entertainment that anything, heard more noise from it getting massages on the beach, but therapist worked to the rhythm of the noise !!

A little far away from puerta Vallarta. It is in Nuevo Vallarta which is up and coming but far away from town. However they are very accommodating with taxis and the rest of our stay was amazing.

Every staff member from the front desk to the housekeeping staff to the servers and activities personnel were outstanding, friendly and willing to assist with whatever we needed. Our room was clean and very well maintained during our stay. The outdoor amenities were great and always clean. We had a Spanish lesson with Melanie and she made it very fun and interactive and we couldn’t wait for our next class with her. The shows were good. My only complaint is that the food in the speciality restaurants was just ok. In a few places we didn’t finish our meals because we didn’t like it. Honestly, the buffet and the sports bar had the best food throughout our stay. Besides that, we had an amazing stay and would definitely return.

Drinks were watered down. Not many options for the breakfast buffet. The dinner options was not good. The only place that we liked was the steakhouse and Krystal restaurant. All the other restaurants (including the sports bar and pool bar food) was either to salty or greasy. We had upsets stomach during our 5 days stay. The hotel does have nice amenities and the place is very Jude and clean. I was just disappointed with the food

Everything was good. Hotel was very clean and Staff was great. It took us a couple tries to discover the theme restaurants were not very good. Just stick to buffet for dinner and you should find something you’ll like.

Breakfast was very good had a lot of options. Buffet probably the best ever had had in Mexico. Lots of options and quality very good. I thought it was better than the premium restaurants. Partial view balcony was very nice great pictures of sunset and afterglow!

Service here was lovely and friendly. We enjoyed the quieter wellness pool for the most part. Wish the resort had its own beach umbrellas but that’s okay. Gym is doable and bit small. The taco bar was our favourite. Food is decent but nothing really stood out. Would come back!
