Motel 6-Atascadero, CA

The rear portion of the building has shifted and the walkway around the 2nd story is down. My room was fine but some people could be flustered by seeing building in shambles.

I reserved a non-smoking room weeks ahead. When I arrived, at 9:30 pm, I was told they “only had smoking rooms, but it was pretty clean.” I explained I had reserved non-smoking. I was told I could take the room or leave. I called Expedia. Spoke to customer service and a manager. All they could offer me was a credit on my next booking. I asked to be placed in another hotel. I was told that “since I didn’t cancel a day ahead, I couldn’t get a refund.” How could I have know “a day ahead” they were putting me in a smoking room? The room smelled like an ashtray. There were holes in the wall. The walls were dirty. There was “caution” tape outside my door because the railing had fallen off of the second floor. DO NOT stay here. I won’t be using Expedia again.

Probably the worst motel I have ever stayed at (same for the rest of the group). Cockroaches, AC didn’t work, bathroom smelled of mold, a lot of drug use/selling, pool had water bugs, etc.

We booked 3 rooms for a family trip. 1 of the rooms was not cleaned, 1 other room smelt like weed & the other rooms AC did not cool down the room all night. Beds were uncomfortable. Pool was not working due to high water levels. Horrible-will NOT stay here again.

The restroom was not clean, bed was not sanitary, shower was not clean, small bugs in room. Could hear people in next room. Pool was disgusting. Had not been cleaned. Was not able to use pool. Room was not prepared when we arrived. Was given another room but it was not clean. Sorry.

The room was old, had no hairdryer, no amenities except for the few essentials soap/ shampoo. The property looked like it was overwatered and muddy in some areas. A small part of the property was taped off deemed unsafe and looked like it was getting ready for construction. I would not stay there again. It did served its purpose for a one night stay.

Pool was closed, no coffee in the mornings

Sadly price hikes due to local event meant this was the lowest priced. Check in was easy, but the location was right off the exit do was noisy and homeless hung around the back of the parking lot. The room was clean but it smelled like old smoke. You could tell it used to be a smokers room. Everything worked fine and towels were clean. Bed was old, but no bugs.

The shower pan was stained and cleaned. The shower curtain was damaged and it would not stay in place. This site was under construction, and had a lot construction noise starting at 7 AM. In addition, this Hotel and people wandering throughout the parking lot through all hours of the night.

This place is very run down. We checked in at 0200 we woke up the clerk working. Only thing he said was id? And card to pay. Then gave a key and walked away. I had no idea what room we had our where it was. I had to find out written on the key and find a map in the lobby. Half the parking outside was roped off and nothing by the room. When we walked in The door had multiple holes from where the lock had been moved. Usually because the door had been kicked in. The table where the tv was located was coming off the wall and was broken. The bed had what looked like cigarette burns on the comforter. Multiple places paint was chipped or coming off the wall. The bathroom had blood splatter on the wall. Outside was construction where part of the second floor walkway was missing where the wood was rotted. Horrible parking.

There were bugs in the room. The TV didn’t work. They had no local channels. The room was dirty. The only thing I could say the hotel staff changed the TV very quickly for me. Otherwise, this hotel is probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in and I will never recommend or stay in a motel six. Never never never, and I will never recommend it. You’re trying to stay at a motel six I recommend look another direction cause it’s a dirty, nasty cockroach crackhead motel.

It was a rundown motel with people living in it. I found a bug in our bed, and the shower was completely dirty, and the towels were stained. Needless to say, I will never stay in a motel six again.

The room was so dirty we had to go out and buy disinfectant and paper towels to clean it. Shower was filthy. Bed sheets were dirty and stained (yes, we have pictures). T.V. didn’t work. We were told we would receive some sort of discount, but haven seen anything.

I told the GIRL at the front desk my room had cockroaches (I wasn't even there and hour)I wasn't going to stay in a filthy room and she refused to give me back my money back or try to compensate me in any way. I had asked to speak to the manager and she refused to try to contact her or give the the contact information. Please remove this motel from your website because it's infested with bugs and you are going to get bad reviews from people who aren't happy with their stays there. Also the mattress was filthy down near where the streets cover it. It looks like a bed bug infestation but I wasn't there long enough to sleep.

Checked in to our hotel around midnight. We went straight to sleep. We woke up in the morning to find hole punches in the door, BLOOD splatter on the walls and smoke alarms covered with plastic wrap! We confronted the front desk and told them the conditions of the room and they did not even bat an eyelash and continued to smoke their cigarette

Cockroaches, peeling wall coverings, dirty floor, needed mopping. Rest of the room was average.

I booked this room on a hurry, and wouldn't have minded the usual Motel 6 experience. But this location was extraordinarily horrible. Room had a bad smell, and there were puddles of mysterious liquid on the floor - coming from under the bed, and by the "closet" / TV stand. The bed sheets were not changed, and there was a pubic hair near the foot of the bed. It was abundantly apparent that this room was not cleaned since the last guest. I arrived late into the night, so I didn't have an option of rebooking at a different hotel for the same night. Considering the conditions, I was very much worried about bringing bed bugs from this visit. So I never ended up unpacking and getting comfortable. Avoid at all cost!!!

Quiet and convenient area. Motel room 148 was in terrible dis-repair and I saw a cockroach crawl out of the crumbling wall in the bathroom. The curtains were becoming detached and were worn out to the point of having holes in them. The screws holding the front door security latch were coming loose from the door. The parking lot was flooded with water, likely from the lawn sprinkler system. There was trash on the walkways and parking lot. The bathroom sink didn't drain properly. The shower and floor were stained and appeared unclean.

The first room we were given had mold inside and all over the toilet. We called to inform the front office, and they said they would have the maid come and clean it. After waiting a while, we decided to try and flush the toilet, it did not work. So we were moved to another room. We could hear kids running up and down the walkway/hallway throughout the afternoon. We left at the crack of dawn. You get what you pay for.

Dirty room, sheets were dirty upon arrival, had a total of 5 bugs of some sort crawling on bed/walls, missing shower curtain

Staff were excellent! Room needs refurbishing! Shower wand in disrepair, and air conditioning did not work. Good thing it wasn’t that hot.

I requested a wheel chair excessible room. the room that i was given was occupied. so they put us in a nice room on the 2nd floor. i had to hobble up the steps. not happy about that. The room was nice and clean but it was cold that night and the heat did not work. I was freezing all night long.

After having my key card reset three times, I still couldn’t get in my room. Ended up switching rooms. Outlet in bathroom did not work.

The property was a little dated and well loved. Staff was helpful and polite. The room we had did not have a working heater or air conditioner despite having the hook ups for it. The TV i think was going out because the screen was getting ready to go out. It was close to all our destinations so thats why we choose this location.

We were able to check in a bit early, which was nice because we had to be at a wedding from 2p-7p. Room is clean. Walls are thin, you can hear every footstep and every time someone in the adjoining rooms runs water or flushes a toilet. Neighborhood feels a bit sketchy, but not the fault of the property. We just need a place to sleep for the night after the wedding, so it was fine.

When I checked into my room I noticed it was very cold. I turned on the heater but had to leave because I was going to visit my son in Monterey, 105 miles away. That was at 2:30 pm. When I got back to the room at appox. 9:30pm, I noticed the room was even colder. I felt the vent to see if heat was flowing. No heat. I went to call the front desk but the phone wasn't working. I tried the TV to watch the election results. The TV was not working. I went to the front desk. The person behind the desk stated that nothing worked because they were renovating. I asked for another room but all rooms had no heat,TV or phone service. I went back to my room to find another hotel at 10:30 at night. I found one,then went to the front desk person and stated this was totally unacceptable. I asked for a refund. He had to ask his manager but didn't sound hopeful. Not very happy Expedia. You should have checked this hotel before my booking. I don't think I can use you again.

No hot water in the morning at 7a! Unable to take a shower.

The room smelled like smoke, the smoke alarm was hanging from the ceiling. The AC did not work and did not have the cover on the thermostat as well.

Staff was very accommodating about checking in early.

The General Manager is extremely rude. We stood there to check in for at least 5 minutes before she came out aha said she didn't know where the worker was. Don't know why she couldn't check us in. The front check in person was nice. The shower was awful. Water everywhere when I got out. Small and a bit closterphobic. Only good thing was watery got hot. Lots of very loud people at 4am.

I travel. A lot. Suffice it to say Ive stayed in all types of housing around the world. And this was one of the worst stays I have ever had, primarily because of the way the staff treated my elderly parents. I got to the motel early, as this was a special trip for my parents, and I wanted to make sure everything was adequate. The room was a little cold (found out later the heat did not work) and so I asked for an extra blanket for my parents. They gave me one, and I put it in their room. An hour later, it was missing. I went and asked for another, and was told it would be put in their room. We went out, and when we got back at 10 pm--no blanket. Went to the front desk again, asked for a blanket, was told there would be one brought to their room. 1 AM, still no blanket, and no heat. My mom, freezing and in tears, was ringing the bell at the front desk to no avail. My dad had to go and knock loudly on the "Employees Only" door, to finally get a blanket. Because of the stress and the cold, my father had a COPD attack, and almost had to be hospitalized. The staff was uncaring and unresponsive, and I will never go to this motel again.

For the second time since made the mistake of reserving at this hotel. I wanted to give them a second chance but still the same problem. They made me wait over an hour for my room. That said that was not ready and that they didn’t had any more rooms to accommodate me so I’m had no choice. I ask for a discount on the room because they had me waiting in my car but “Nothing “. But i guess that “ You get what you pay for”

The night clerk was rude and spiteful. He couldn't find the reservation, gave us the wrong room, wouldn't put our two rooms together telling us 3 people had checked in...but it was midnight and MAYBE 1 person came in. But no one had the adjacent rooms the whole time we were there. THEN tried to blame us for everything! (The day clerk was nice.) The hotel looked like it had been through a war. Water was backward...to turn it off, it had to turned past the scalding hot water. The a/c was barely adequate. The location was the ONLY redeeming quality.

The staff at the hotel was incredibly helpful and kind. I would recommend this hotel to any one looking for a stay when visiting the Atascadero area. Amy, the general manager, was a great help and very accommodating.

Avoid this one if you can. Worst motel. Not only because of the conditions of the rooms, but also the way it's run. Was given a dingy room with a broken air conditioner (on an 85° day) when asked to be moved was told they had no other rooms so we didn't stay there. They charged us anyway. Then the manager dodged my calls and lied to MGMT about the situation. I also thought it was odd that they have no working phone system in the rooms.

We had couple of problems. Room was not done on time that they had to gives us another but still we had to wait another hr for the other room. We’re awaken at 1:30 am by front desk staff saying that we were in the wrong room because apparently our room was reserved for someone else that had pay for a whole week so it was a mess!!! The front desk lady that help us was really nice and she explain that they were short staff which I understand but really waking us in the middle of the night…… it’s ridiculous!!!

Staff was friendly and helpful in making some necessary changes to our accommodations.

We stayed there for the 4th of July, and it was good. I never ever stay at a Motel 6, even after their remodel. This one was good, clean, safe and right off the highway.

very close to 101 and 41 to Morro Bay and plenty of shopping nearby.

This hotel was okay, what was expected of a motel 6. I was checked into a smoking room at first and had to call and change to the non smoking room I had originally ordered. There was a very very creepy man lurking outside of my room and watching me all night, that was the worst. Very unsafe for a woman. I would have left immediately if my boyfriend wasn’t there with me.

This motel was ideal for my purposes! Clean, comfortable, quiet, dark (so I could sleep) and close to everything I wanted in Atascadero. The only suggestion I have is to make the coffee in the lobby stronger.

I like that it was available and didn't charge a two night minimum. Did not like that it was the barest motel ever. No trash can, no hair dryer, just coffee in the morning. I will still book through Travelocity but I will not stay at a Motel 6 again.

I have stayed at Motel 6 on many occasions back home for visiting family. I thought because we had visited Atascadero in the past it would be a decent experience or similar to our experience in the past. When I arrived with my family, I checked us in. My daughter was crying in the back that she wanted milk and when I asked the man who worked there he said they did not have any milk in the vending machine so I could make my daughter a bottle. When we first arrived to our room there was a group of men outside playing their music super loud and bbqing in the parking lot. We thought maybe it wouldn't matter once we got into our room and would not hear them as much. We brought our things into the room in front of the pool area with the AC system would not turn on and failed to work. The room also did not have any blankets. That is when my husband went to the front check-in office and the employee gave my husband a new room key while we waited. My husband went into the new room to check if the AC worked but when he came out he told me that the room smelled like an ashtray full of smoke. That is when I told him we couldn't stay there anymore and had to go someplace else. I just couldn't stay there with my daughter inhaling cigarette smoke in the new room.

Pool was closed, no coffee in the mornings

Our stay started out with my leaving a wallet at the front desk and then missing $150 out of it, (my fault). Closed the curtain at window and clips fell off, had to get maint. Next morning no hot water for showers, said they had someone coming at 10am, coffee not ready. 2nd night had warm water, figured hot water fixed. Next morning no hot water. Checked out no one at counter. Will not stay here again.

ALTHOUGH IT IS CLOSE TO THE FREEWAY IT IS VERY PEACEFUL , STORES ARE CLOSE BY AND ARE DEFINETLY WALKABLE , HAS A 24HOUR STORE ACROSS THEE STREET PRETTY PERFECT!

Perfect for our stay. Close to our Beer Fest Event! Uber ride was convenient Breakfast place was awesome! The Nest We will be back next year
