La Quinta by Wyndham Modesto Salida

This is where we stay when we visit family in the area, it's a wonderful place, staff is super friendly. Only complaint is pool and hot tub aren't maintained. We pay good money to stay there, I feel even during winter the pool should be kept up year round, especially when advertised as having pool and hot tub. Let the quest decide if they want to enjoy them. Cant use if full of leaves and dirt.

There are no fans in the bathroom, also for the thermostat there needs to be just a fan setting. Both of the outside doors DO NOT work with keys we had to go all the way around every time and went to the pool and same thing ended up having to go back all the way around and they are aware of it not working. The coffee was horrible.

As my comment for improvement, I would say that they really have to expand the parking lot space. In fact, it is quite small and the individual spaces don’t cover most of the car’s dimensions. Other than that, quite acceptable!

Good hotel for short stay. Close to Modesto, ok breakfast to start your day. The pool is small and not really clean. The room was good and clean.

The room was clean and comfortable. It looked like it had recently been updated. The bed was comfortable. Everything I look for was present such as in room safe, refrigerator, large screen TV, wifi. The parking was plentiful, there are several dining options within walking distance, the included breakfast was good. We made use of the pool and spa and the guest laundry. This was a really good place to stay for the purposes of this trip and I will stay here again when visiting the area.

Only two complaints I have is that the person above me was heavy footed constantly & the juccuzi's jets are very mild, needs a lot more power and more jets for legs , shoulders . Thanks

While conveniently located close to the highway and still exceptionally quiet, this hotel had issues. Some issue were simply inconveniences or unmet expectations, while others created safety concerns for traveling with my family. The inconvenience/unmet expectation issues were primarily related to service and the breakfast - both lacking. The main safety issues were that of multiple doors. The door leading from the hotel to the pool could not be re-opened from the outside, causing guest to needlessly walk around to the front of the hotel and back through the Main Lobby to access rooms. The second was a side exit door that said a key was needed after 9pm to access from the outside. This too did not work as it should and remained unlocked and accessible the entire night. When brought to the attention of the staff, their response was a shrug and a "Yeah, that's just how it is." While not necessarily an unsafe area, it definitely lended itself to having some non-patrons around, and traveling with my wife and young child the issues with the doors did not meet my expectations and left me disappointed.

No parking available due to construction work. There was no information on this prior to booking. Had a hand-written sign to park in the neighboring Hilton hotel, then later told us that the Hilton didn’t agree to us parking in their lot, so asked to park in a Burger King parking lot.

I checked tried to do early check in at 1pm on the 18th of December. They told me it would cost me $20 extra for early check in. Never experienced this anywhere else, seems petty. I passed and went across the street and had breakfast. I came back at 3pm. They required a $250 deposit. I thought “Oh wow my room must be really nice given a $250 deposit”…. I went up to my room. They assigned me a handicap room on the second floor with a shower head that only goes up 5 ft. I’m 6ft. There were 5 very obvious stains on the carpet, the carpet was so sticky it felt as though it was vacuumed with honey. I went downstairs and voiced my concerns to the front desk. The lady at the front desk said the stains were from someone’s pet. So they most likely kept that guys $250 deposit and didn’t shampoo the carpet for the next guest. At no point did she offer to give us a new room that didn’t have visible animal urine on the carpet. The coffee was good, The gym was excellent, the breakfast was bad. Bacon and scrambled eggs, That’s it, That’s all most people want, You guys are doing too much with the mini omelets and sliced Sausage…

Hotel was great value for money, very clean, staff were really friendly and helpful, only slight negative was that the pool had a lot of debris in it and there were a ton of bees in it and around it.

Room smelled very strongly of mildew.

The first room (223) I was offered smelled like an ashtray. The second room (225) room I was offered was occupied with ants. The carpet throughout the hotel was stained and in need of a deep cleaning. The dry wall in our room had countless poor quality repairs. The bathroom door was severely water damaged.The window track was rusted from water damage.

There was a broken tile in the bathroom floor. I almost cut my foot on it and thats how I noticed it. There were also roaches in the bathroom.

Outside, lobby, breakfast room were neat, clean, modern. Take one step down the hall and carpet was pretty dirty. Hall way smelled like weed most of the week (didn't seep into our room, thank goodness. Room was spacious but dated (no 'vanity' in bathroom, furniture older but decent shape. Overall, a good week stay.

The entire Hotel smelled like Marijuana, inside and out. If this is a non-smoking hotel, why does it smell like that? Some of it was permeating off of other guests but for the rooms and hallways to smell like it, they would have to of done it in the room. Are they not charging for a cleaning fee? If they are, why isn't the room actually getting cleaned? You can't advertise a smoke free facility when the evidence of it is everywhere. Can't blame them for the smells outside in the parking lot but inside, very much so.

They gave me two different rooms both of them they hadn’t changed the sheets from the night before. It was extremely embarrassing for everyone involved. There was not only hair in both beds but one had oil like stains on it.

Found a pair of fake eyelashes on the floor, floors were dirty, found hair in the bathtub and around the floor. Found a stain in one of the pillow cases and decided to take off, when we did a bunch of hair came out of it. Eww!! Complained to front desk and she was so apologetic. Offered us a different room. She said that she was going to let her manager know and request for a discount off the room, for our inconvenience. We moved all our stuff to the new room and it was much better. We were two floors away from the rest of the family but the room was a lot better then the first one. Next day, found out that the room that my husband stayed in also had hair in the bathtub. He was so tired. He said he didn’t want to complain and just cleaned it himself. When we checked out I spoke to the manager and told her we switched rooms last night due to the room being dirty. She said she read the notes that the night attendant left about the room not being up to our standards. I repeated, “Not up to our standards, it was dirty!”She said she went into the room this morning and noticed that the beds were sat on but didn’t notice it being dirty. I responded by repeating the events of last night and told her that I had pictures to prove it too. I told her that the night attendant was great in accommodating us with a new room which was much better. She said that she was glad we found it to our liking. Her tone seemed condescending. Told my husband and he went back and told her off.

Shower didn’t work. It didn’t have sent pressure.

Omg the jacuzzi in the room was the best for me and my fiancé. We got some much needed R&R. Plus nobody bothered us when we were loudly *clapping*

AC and fridge were loud. Gardening was done too early on a Saturday morning. Has good toiletries

Very nice clean hotel in a great location. Only complaint is there isn’t a single usb or type c outlet anywhere in the room so being wall plugs.

This is our go to place in Salida to visit family. We had a good stay as usual. Clean, standard hotel breakfast, good service. Although you can hear the train, it is off in the distance, and not a problem like some of the other area hotels.

Spent one night near family for our granddaughter's birthday. The hotel was clean and nice. The room was clean and spacious and the carpet was clean. It was nice and comfortable. We’ll definitely consider this hotel the next time we visit Salida.

Lighting in the room was bad. Bathroom lighting was missing casing, but otherwise good. Room had apparently been remodeled, but was not yet finished. Sprinkler exposed and other minor defects made room look cheaper than what it was. Bed was very comfortable.

Only thing i didnt like was I had the room right next to the elevator and i could hear it open and close all night

The hotel common areas and the rooms are nice. The room was clean and the bed was pretty comfortable. However, we checked in after a long day of hiking and were not told that the hotel did not have any hot water. After the first cold shower, I called the front desk and they said “Sorry, no hot water until early tomorrow morning.” At this point we were unpacked and exhausted so the rest of us took quick cold showers thinking we’d get a hot one after our morning workouts. The next morning at 10:30 AM, there was still NO hot water. I spoke to the lady at the front desk and all she had to say was “Stuff happens.” She offered no resolution, no discount and no help at all. I told her that I felt we should have been told before paying for a room that did not have hot water. I am extremely disappointed in the way the hotel handled this situation. They had plenty of time to inform me and offer to cancel and refund the room so I could find alternative lodging but they chose not to do so, which tells me they do not care about their customers. I will not recommend La Quinta and I won’t be staying with them in the future because of their lack of concern. My other issue is that after paying for the room in full, they take a $100 deposit that still hasn’t fallen off my credit card even though I was told it had been refunded. So, if you stay here and have any issue, do not expect a resolution or compassion from them.

Did not honor the check-in “anytime”. Checked in following morning due to late/long drive and room was not saved. Got charged for the day despite not checking in on time AND being told our room was not saved. Had to rebook room then and there. That’s not even the worst part! The next night we come back to the room to find out ALL of our stuff is gone. We’re confused and angry and my young daughter is terrified! Turns out the same person that gave our initial room away didn’t book our stay correctly and we were essentially kicked out. No call made or message left at all. They claim to not have a number on file but our receipt given from the girl clearly had it. So no call or message left and me and my family come back to an empty room?! Why did our key card still work? As of right now, 3 days later, we weren’t charged for the stay. I’m skeptical but that was the very least they could do. Never coming back! What a horrible experience. I haven’t even talked about the room. At this point it doesn’t even matter. Even though we were “comped” for the stay, we won’t be back.

Exceeded my expectations for room size, layout, cleanliness and staff efficiency.

I was woken up at midnight by front desk had to go back down and check in again. They check me in under wrong name And the guest who room i got was trying to check in. After got check in could not fall back asleep for quite awhile.

During my stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Modesto Salida on June 25th, 2024, I checked in at 11 p.m. Only AFTER I was charged the full hotel fee and signed all appropriate paperwork, I was told that there was no hot water. Even worse, I called the hotel to tell them my check-in time earlier in the evening, when they were well aware of the issue and could have informed me in time to book another hotel. However, this information was mysteriously omitted. At check in, I was told the hot water would be restored by the morning. At this point, it was too late in the evening to find another hotel, and I had already been charged for my stay. Despite being covered from head to toe in sand from a day at the beach, I decided to suck it up and shower in the morning. However, the hot water was NOT restored in the morning. It is unacceptable for a mid-range chain hotel to lack hot (or even lukewarm) water. I reported the unresolved issue to the hotel staff upon checkout and was offered an extremely limited refund. I continued to seek a greater refund for this terrible experience, which significantly impacted my stay, to be met with the following response: “Regarding your recent stay, unfortunately, we are unable to offer to you an additional refund. -Jan Zemola, AGM” If you are looking to stay somewhere close to Yosemite, which was the purpose of my stay, El Capitan Hotel in Merced is AMAZING and recommend.

I would have given it an okay overall review but because of Joanna (not sure if I spelled her name correctly) from the front desk helping me after we checked in, it made our 7 days stay better. After seeing what an actual double sized bed looks like I was going to cancel our stay because my kids would not be comfortable sleeping in it, Joanna saved us from having to check out and upgraded our room to a better one bedroom with a king bed and a pull out sofa bed without any extra charge. The room in general has a bigger space and made our stay comfortable.

Property is right off the free and very close to everything. Parking could be better but overall great experience.

Conveniently located near the highway and various places to eat, if you desire. Breakfast in the morning was very nice. The Diamond Almond Factory near where you can shop for family gifts or for yourself.

Great location within Modesto. Close to the freeway but far enough away that you do not hear the traffic. Safe and clean area. Only concern we had is the mattresses are on the very firm side and it was difficult to sleep on. Wish they would upgrade the mattresses.

Within walking distance of several restaurants. Bed was very confortable. There are train tracks close by so its a bit noisy when the train goes by. Everything was pretty clean, and they have a nice breakfast, make your own waffles. Staff was very nice. We will stay again, if in the area.

The hotel was great but one block away were homeless people

Overall I had a very nice stay. Parking is sparse and I had to park at the adjacent hotel the first night I arrived. Lots of work trucks taking up multiple spots. Guys standing in the parking lot smoking weed. Somewhat of an uncomfortable situation. Arrived back earlier in subsequent nights and everything was fine. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good with a nice variety of fresh food. Coffee was really good. Beds were super comfy. Thermostats were easily adjusted for comfort. After the first night, wasn’t sure if I’d return. After the next few nights, I definitely would for the value and comfort.

Nice hotel along the freeway that was affordable.

Property itself with overall nice, no screens in the window, which seem very unsafe also was very noisy at some point because of the nut processing plant across the street but still not bad

Staff were so helpful and friendly. Plenty of option’s for breakfast. Dinning area was clean.

This was my first stay at a La Quinta, and I am impressed. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We arrived much earlier then check-in allows and we still were given our room, which was fantastic. The pool, while small, was clean and heated. The area around the hotel has some dining options, with more just a few minutes drive away. The breakfast was typical hotel breakfast but well done. I can't think of a negative thing to say about this location.

The choices were good. Coffee sometimes was a little cold The staff kept the area clean, wiped the tables after people left. Overall it was a good experience.

The bed was very comfortable. The place was very clean and nice. I had no complaints about the shower, no complements either. The breakfast left much to be desired. This hotel is very comparable to the Hampton Inn next door; however, the Hampton Inn's breakfast is a bit better. I'd like to compare a hotel of this caliber to another La Quinta I stood at in Denison, TX. The breakfast there was great, with cheese to put on your eggs, lots of fruit, and many other options. The fruit at this Salida hotel was overripe and otherwise old. Given the choice, I'd opt for the very similar but better and cheaper hotel next door, the Hampton Inn and Suites.

The breakfast offered was a good quality and the beds were very nice.

Property was very clean, quiet, and basic breakfast included in the pricing.

Everything was great, but you really need to get better coffee. It was terrible. Otherwise, no complaints
