The Midland draws praise for its striking Art Deco character, seafront setting, and bay views, with many noting friendly staff and comfortable, often spacious rooms, but reviews also flag noticeable wear, exterior scaffolding or repainting needs, and inconsistent upkeep.

A lovely room with a pleasant view in an historically important building. Excellent service from friendly staff, great for people who appreciate Art-Deco and Poirot. What's not to like?

So sad. Midland remains in a great location, is a beautiful building and the rooms have amazing views. BUT We stayed in a suite on the top floor with a fantastic view of Morecambe and its bay. Suite is spacious and, like the rest of the hotel, has echos of greatness. The lack of reception should have been a clue! Check in is now at the bar like a budget hotel. The soft product is penny pinching. No bathrobes, no slippers, no ammenities in bathroom. The hot tub is non operational. The tv was not set up, so had to set up manually! There is no restaurant. Just a bar with food ordered at the bar. Evening staff totally uninterested, chatting at bar with friends. Food is average gastro pub fare at 4* prices. Wine list is poor. The Midland Hotel is certainly not a luxury 4* experience but it has a 4* price. Of the 1000's of hotel nights I have experienced around the world, this was by far the most disappointing.

The hotel was spotless. All of the staff were excellent - professional, courteous and friendly. The food - breakfast and evening meal was well cooked and decent sized helpings.
