Hilton Garden Inn Amarillo

We brought our dogs and really did not expect the room to smell like a wet dog. We stayed in four separate hotels on our trip and this was the only one that stunk. The pool was not heated… or warm at all, and the deck surrounding the pool was very slippery. We picked this one for my husband, a stroke survivor, who enjoys a swim because his balance is awkward and he can stand up easier in water. Not a safe environment for him or anyone. Dinner…. We seemed to be only ones who ate there. Probably because they were out of near everything we picked. The best part of dinner was the bartender/waiter. Super nice, attentive and made sure we got refills and brought the kids their food first.

The pool was filthy. They initially charged us for breakfast dispite already having paid for it. Just not the excellent service we usually receive with Hyatt.

Not sure how long this particular Garden Inn property has been open. It did not look like it was undergoing a remodel. But it seemed more devoid than usual of artwork at elevator stations and in the corridors to the rooms. Coffee stations and bottled H20 were great. Did not see the usual lobby carafes of water (w/fruit). Gym was adequate, although it could have used a half-Bosu ball and mats / exercise bands.

It was ok. Coffee maker in the room was broken. Printer in the business center wasn’t working but the room was ok.

Clean Room, good parking for Big Truck

The room was a little banged up, but it was a pet friendly room, so no worries. It was on the first floor floor, which was very convenient. The most fabulous thing about the hotel is the offering of food light into the evening. It’s very nice to come in and get decent food instead of hunting around the neighborhood

Great place for an overnight stay. There is a bar and restaurant onsite and plenty of restaurants nearby.

This place was great from the front desk to the bar. We really enjoyed our time there. We will definitely stay there again the next time we are in town.

Parking spaces need to be a little bigger not everyone drives a compact car. Did have trouble with the key card's .

My son and I picked up several bed bug bites. Praying we didn't bring them home with us. $75 pet fee for a one night stay is absurdly high especially since there was dog doo all over the grounds.

The staff were very nice, 5 stars on them, the room was fine...clean, but had to call maintenance to fix the fridge. My problem w the hotel was though they advertised as pet friendly, there is not really anywhere to walk your pet for potty purposes except for the back of the hotel which is NOT maintained, is unlit, feels unsafe in the early morning or after sunset. The entire back area has dog poop everywhere, one small area by the dumpster is designated for dogs but there are no poop bags in the stand meant for them. You sign a pet waiver upon registration that says you"ll pick up after your pet, so I realise if owners actually did that it wouldnt look like that, but the grounds still need to be maintained.

Pictures lie. The lobby was drab. Nothing like the photos on the website. The front desk clerk was not at the front desk but was at the breakfast bar and was seen putting something in his mouth. No one to help with checking out. Our room looked nothing like the photo and the view from the window was a view of a homeless camp just on the other side of the privacy fence. The restroom in our room smelled of urine, and there was a dark brown stain under the sink. When I used a towel to wipe the stain with my foot a yellowish brown stain was left behind on the towel. We had two rooms during this visit.The staff upon arrival seemed friendly enough. The person that checked us out on Sunday seemed indifferent. I told her that I was not happy and she quickly moved us on. Our rooms were not ready upon arrival at 5:30pm. on Friday. They were ready twenty minutes after we arrived. My mother's room was nice. I'm not sure that I had fresh sheets on my bed. The sheets were not tight like you expect. The sheets would not stay on the corners also. That was most aggravating. Kind of a peeve of mine. We stayed two nights. Our rooms were not cleaned between nights. We were out of the rooms for 12 hours Saturday. There was plenty of time to refresh them as advertised and expected. Coming back to a fresh room is one of the perks of paying so much to stay at a hotel versus staying at an Airbnb. I don't like dumping on the hotel and I know it's hard to staff a large facility but you asked. I did expect a better experience from Hilton.

The number one thing a hotel needs to do is provide a comfortable place to sleep. Unfortunately this did not happen. We had a double bed room and both beds were terrible. The bed closest to the bathroom was not comfortable and made the oddest noise I've ever heard a bed make whenever you moved on it. It was the more comfortable of the two, so I let my sister use it, but through out the night its "squeaking/croaking" noise was loud enough to wake me during the few short times I managed to fall asleep on the other bed by the window. That bed was so concave that my head was below my feet and forced my body to roll into the center. And it did not have any remaining 'padding' and felt like sleeping on cardboard - it was one step up from laying on the floor. I got out of it in the morning with a stiff and sore back. The small table by the chair in the corner had a loose top and dumped my phone and tablet onto the floor when I set them there. The bathroom had no vent, so after we had both taken our showers the room was humid. The AC came on and off constantly making many loud clicks and whining noises. Between the air quality, the terrible beds, and noises, I may have got a few hours sleep at most. When reporting the issues at checkout, the staff offered reward points to make up for their terrible room, not any kind of refund. They promised maintenance would fix the issues - but the damage was already done. Will not be staying here again.

Renovated inside. Stayed with two adults and two small kids and had a large enough room. Breakfast was great. Made to order omelettes hit the spot. Kids loved the variety of cereal.

My only complaint is we were supposed to get a digital key we never got it so my husband went in to see what was up and the lady there said your room is probably not she never checked or anything. We checked in on the app the day before arriving saying wed ne there at 3 and check in time is at 3. This lady was off at 330 and she was very rude when my husband approached her to ask her about it, it made him so uncomfortable that we waited for the next lady to clock in to get our room.

The heater and the keurig did not work. Thestaff were very helpful to find me a other room, but i had to do without coffee. Why doesnt the staff check to see if things are working properly ahead of time.

The front desk clerk did not seem welcoming. There was another couple who came back to get help accessing their room. She was on the phone dealing with that while checking us in. The room was comfortable but will not return. We’ve had better experiences with Comfort Inn.

Stay was ruined due to rude, unprofessional hotel staff. Traveled with my 83 year old mother to see a family member now in a nursing home. Simply needed a convenient, low stress, comfortable stay. When ordering breakfast (no posted menu), politely asked a simple question about options and received a shockingly rude response. The second night we returned to the hotel to find a very large truck and trailer blocking the entrance. I couldn’t get around it in my small car to park. It had been there 15+ minutes before I went in to tell the front desk. I approached to find the front desk person talking to the driver of the truck (another employee). They let us stand there for several minutes before even acknowledging us, he then walked off, and the front desk employee rudely said - “he’s moving!” She then proceeded to argue with me when I pointed out the rudeness of responding that way to a paying customer. Guessing this place has management that doesn’t care if employees are rude to customers. Will be staying elsewhere in the future!

We had a minor delay checking in. Our room was not ready. But we were checking in at approximately 3:10 pm.

This place was great from the front desk to the bar. We really enjoyed our time there. We will definitely stay there again the next time we are in town.

A weekend getaway and this was the perfect place to stay. The room is large, plenty of space and it was clean. The bed was very comfortable. Big shower with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff were always pleasant. The check in was quick and easy. The hotel is right by the mall and lots of restaurants or fast food places are right in the area. We plan on staying here on our next visit.

Just fine for one night driving through Amarillo. Clean room and convenient for the drive next day.

On our way to the mountains and needed a place in Amarillo. The Drury across the street is always packed with kids and dogs. So we went with this place. It kind of tries to be a more modern looking place but it’s age makes that a little diff. The shower in the bathroom kind of says it all. But it’s a decent place to stay for the night. Kind of pricey considering you have to fill out a W2 just to get the free Wi-Fi and the breakfast is not complimentary. But I will tell you this, it’s quiet. It is so quiet. Minus the kids and the dogs it is a better option than the Drury if you want a peaceful nights sleep. We’ll stay there again when passing through, but just wanted to leave an informative review.

Friendly staff who worked hard to make my stay comfortable. In house restaurant had decent burger and awesome breakfast service with made to order omelettes! Highly recommend!

Not a typical Hilton experience but okay in a pinch. The hotel feels dated and overall has a non well lit slightly run down vibe. The morning breakfast cook is unfriendly as hell and the morning breakfast is mediocre, coffee is lukewarm. I’d recommend a different hotel option if you are in the area.

What I didn't like was you pay for breakfast that wasn't to good at all,the cook was coughing and wiping his nose and face with a lil cough with no mask,and in his phone at the same time,my omelet was not cooked properly all my vegetables were not sauteed and he put tomatoes in my omelet when I didn't asked for them and don't eat them

The rooms were nice-decent. Although I couldn't get the water from the shower to turn off and the hot water took forever. The "Cheff was really rude and bad attitude. We got our breakfast & our food was so salty ee couldn't finish it.

Gotta love stopping at a Hilton property when you can on a road trip. Having a restaurant when you are a tired driver is always nice.
