Property is undergoing massive remodel. Amenities listed: pool, hot tub, gym were all unavailable. Free breakfast was also listed but the dining room was unavailable so the had a few bananas and muffins behind the front desk. Ice machine on 3 rd floor was broken and had a sign on it saying to go to lobby for ice. Basically, they charged a premium price for services that weren’t available.

The hotel was doing extensive renovations when we were there and so the pool and fitness rooms were closed (which we didn’t plan on using anyway). There was some dust from the work, but not in the lobby or breakfast area. Both those areas were clean and neat, as was our newly renovated room. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and informative and we appreciated her very much. We were only there for one night, but had a very good stay. There are plenty of restaurants within a mile drive of the hotel.

They are undergoing massive renovation, so the whole place has tarps hanging all over it. The noise of the saws etc when you go to the main lobby is deafening. They really should not be open right now. No breakfast available because of the construction - they offered a "grab and go" which you were "free to eat in your room" Nice. Front desk was nice but the conditions were appalling. The room was perfectly fine, but the construction was pervasive.

The elevator was not accessible for the 2nd floor to go down. Not a big deal but not fun either! I enjoyed my time in Athens for Homecoming and visit family and friends.

First, let me say, they are refurbishing the hotel, so construction is going on. The pool is closed, the business center is closed but we didn’t want to use those things anyway so that wasn’t the problem. Our room was in a dilapidated condition. The curtain rod was broken, there were holes in the curtain, the tile in the bathroom was broken and the bathroom door wouldn’t shut because it didn’t fit the frame. We were there two nights. They gave us two towels. The first morning we went for breakfast, there was no hot food because the oven was broken. The next morning,however, there was hot food. When we returned to the room after our first day out, it had not been cleaned and there were no clean towels. We went downstairs and complained, asking if we had to ask for housekeeping as you sometimes do now, but they said no. They just skipped us. This is the worst Holiday Inn Express we’ve ever been to. The desk clerk was nice though.

ALERT before making reservation, call & make sure elevator is warking. The elevator went up to 2nd floor but was not possible to call it to 2nd floor. Choices were to use stairs or ask desk to send it to 2nd floor. Apparently the elevator had been out in excess of two months. This seems to me to be a safety risk & our 2 months is negligent. I asked when reserving for ground floor but did not get ground floor. Breakfast was not very good.

Floor in the room was gross and it was furniture was dusty, after adding for a room refresher it never happened. Then I was promised wash cloths and they never brought them. For the price I don’t think it was worth it, very disappointed.

The staff was amazing. Kind and accommodating. The room had a STRONG chemical smell of Pine Sol or other similar cleaner along with a mold and damp smell. There was a roach crawling across the entryway as I was steaming my dress for the event I was there for.

Our room had only 1 chair to set at the table, so the 2 of us could not eat at the table and there was only one table in the room. The closet had not light inside, which made it very dark and hard to use. The coffee maker did not work. I was glad that we were on the 1st floor close to the front desk and the breakfast buffet. The plug next to the bed on the side closest to the window did not work.

The front desk attendant, Evelyn was so sweet, even as she was dealing with a disgruntle guest that was checking out. My experience at the Athens Holiday Inn is not one I will soon forget. The employee that checked me in for my stay has the best customer service I’ve ever experienced in the hospitality business. She was professional, friendly, and truly wonderful to interact with. I have the utmost respect for the staff here, they really have made my stay here more comfortable! The hotel provided me with complimentary waters which is greatly appreciated, especially since most hotels upcharge bottled water. The breakfast was so delicious! Fresh, warm cinnamon rolls that melt in your mouth & biscuits and gravy that made me feel at home. Thank you to the holiday inn crew here! I will definitely be staying here anytimeI visit Athens!

The hotel was okay, the staff was the most pleasant part of the stay. The hotel is very worn and we had a room on the 2nd floor. They are having elevator issues and you can take the elevator up, but the elevator could not be called up to the 2nd floor. It was a pain to deal with. The room was extremely damp and apparently there were some issues with moisture within the hotel because there were fans setup in the mechanical rooms and stairways. The most disturbing thing about the stay is we had our door hanger turned to Do Not Disturb during the day when we left. When we returned that evening not only did house keeping come and switch out our towels, but maintenance had also been in our room and replaced the full length mirror while we were out. There wasn’t anything wrong with the mirror. We didn’t complain but that is shady and will not stay there again. The elevator has also been broken for three weeks.

We stayed two nights at the hotel, and it was a terrible experience. On the first night, some people who were installing mirrors in the rooms came into our bedroom without permission. Even though they heard us inside, they opened the door anyway. The following night, we noticed that the cleaning was done halfway and not a single towel was left. When I went downstairs to ask for towels, the lady on the night shift only gave me two, and when I asked for a third one, she got upset and told me how annoyed she was to give it to me. There was also a swamp cooler in the room that made an excessive amount of noise, making it hard to sleep at night. The elevator didn’t reach the second floor, the ice machines were not working, and the pool area was under renovation. Overall, a terrible experience — and it’s not even a cheap hotel.

Ok for 1 night. Vacant strip mall next to hotel seems to be a late night hangout area, so was a bit loud. Staff was very friendly. Construction going on the entire 2nd floor but thats understandable and i was notified in advance. Good stay for the price.

We were in town for a baseball tournament. The hotel was in close proximity to the baseball fields. The breakfast was well stocked and fresh each morning. The pool was awesome. The first night was a little crazy with kids and adults running in and out of the open pool windows. We were not given any large towels for the bathroom. This was not noticed until I was through with my shower, in which at that point, I just used one of pour beach towels that I had brought for pool time.

A/C would not cool, it was hot in our room, no hot breakfast (blamed a broken oven) missing lamp bulbs and they could not find any replacements, construction on the floor above our room, could hear them using the hammer and heavy walking and dragging stuff across the floor. When we checked in they said it would be that evening between 5:00 and 7:30, didn't mention anything about the next morning.

The plumbing was in bad shape. It took me 20 minutes to fill my bathtub with hot water. The alarm was broken and I let the front desk know the following morning. The check in was great and the room was clean. Breakfast was good and very clean.
