The Sands Hotel

We arrived for a day at the pleasure beach When we were greeted at the door we were shown to our room which is rare in Blackpool nice touch !! Brand new fresh carpet throughout We noticed some supplies which looked like new doors etc so this hotel is on the up Room spotless nice shower for a change in a hotel in blackpool Would definitely recommend again owner is is obviously trying to bring this hotel to its peak fair play Outside is a little dated but dont let that put you off very very homely experience

We thought this property was great in regards to the location and cleanliness but we were disappointed to find out on arrival that there was no bar as it was having a refurb. There was nothing that told us this before we arrived and it was for my birthday so it did put a bit of a downer on the evening after having a long day at the pleasure beach. It also mentions that the room has toiletries so I was expecting some shower gel and soap but there was nothing apart from a bit of hand soap which you were lucky to get any of as the dispenser was pretty empty. The rooms were spacious and clean and had coffee/tea making facilities which was a nice touch but nowhere for breakfast as it was closed and again no info on this either.

AVOID walked in and was met by building materials in the reception area. And the owner manager in pyjamas. The room was dirty. Top drawer of unit was like a used ashtray. Paper peeling off the ceiling and bathroom walls. Cobwebs all over bathroom walls. Rusty shower head holder and dirty shower cubicle. Had no working lamp and only 1 bedside cabinet. The wardrobe had bits of blue tack and what looked like chewing gum too.all stuck down one side.was told TV remote was broken and they hadn't replaced so had to spend 10inutes stood looking through channels finding something to watch using buttons on TV. Hospitality tray had 4 t bags 6 sugar and 6 milk in a double room and No coffee at all (I dnt drink tea). Was looked at like I'd asked for the world when I asked for more.with wasn't there any there as the comment manager made.Kettle stopped working so phoned to ask for replacement to get told there was no one to help as she was out and if I didn't' like having to wait till she came back to property I could always get in my van and go Home. As apparently it's an unmanned hotel ?? Went to get the iron and board off the wall holder in the hallway to have it all fall off the wall onto me it pulled wall plugs out as we're not correct fixings for stud walling.iron landed on my foot.thankfully it was a small travel iron type thing so was just left with a bruise and pain when i put shoes on later.no breaks. The room was cold as heating wasn't on long enough to make a difference AVOID.

when you put criteria into hotels.com you would expect to get that.. Was aware that breakfast was available for an extra charge but to be told no breakfast or bar or any food available when I asked is what is known as misleading information and then to be told Wetherspoons is over the road ... As a result an extra cost and inconvenience that should be addressed by the sands hotel and by hotels.com This should be updated on website and also informed to customer that book before they travel here. This is the second time this has happened ... if not available the customer should be informed.. Also no tea and coffee in the room and no where to fill kettle up as sink too small So had to ask as luckily saw a cleaner and no one answer my txt message!!! And when no answer at the door when we arrived had a phone call and was given a code to get in and one for the room .. No welcome which would have been nice .. Will defiantly consider other place before returning here..

This hotel was an awful expereince, im afraid to say. We arrived, check in was ok, reception lady shown us to the room and how to use the keycards etc. There was no information in the room regarding checkout or breakfast, etc After a bit of a drive there, we wanted a hot drink but no milk. We asked at reception, 'they were awaiting delivery later that day' this was 3pm. At that point we went out for the day. On our return at midnight, soaked through after lytham festival, still no milk in the room. So unable to make a hot drink still. So maybe a hot shower.....towels were like sandpaper and one full of holes. So we didnt bother! The draws still had previous occupants belongings in a cigarette lighter, pair of odd socks &some earrings And so to bed, which was clean and quite comfortable. Lying there and there were constant beeps from two different alarms. Sounded like batteries needed replacing in the smoke alarms or something. No reception on duty apart from an emergancy number. So i contacted the booking company to log our concens re facilities and service. The beeps make it very difficult to settle. Next day checking out, I tried to speak with reception regarding our concerns but there was nobody around to speak to. There were bags of cement in the hallway still from the previous day. I dont expect 5 star hotel when i visit blackpool,im not a fussy traveller. We usually stay in budget accommodation but Ive got to say this is the worst small hotel we have stayed in.

Hotel is in a great location tram stop straight across from hotel. Staff is lovkey warm and welcoming rooms were comfortable hotel is a bit dated and does have a lot of stairs no disabled access oversll we had a good and comfortable stay

Friendly greeting when we arrived. Only a couple of small issues, the shower door was broken so we couldn't use the shower properly, but it was sufficient for the kids to wash off the sea water from their legs. The only other issue is that we booked a family room, which was on the top floor, I'm just glad our kids are older and didn't need carried up all the stairs. But that's not an issue with the hotel, just a mild inconvenience. Room was tidy, well insulated windows drowned out the sound of the pier at night, keycard access to allow you to come and go as needed. It seems like the building is getting upgraded and worked on, good luck to the proprietor with the works.

Doesnt look much from outside but nice inside, good value for money and close to everything we needed

Stayed on 6/4/24 one night Very basic, TV with no remote, no smoke alarms present in the building, no WiFi due to building work, room was clean but got cold through the night, no heat from radiator Curtains were coming off the rails. This was a cheap deal so I suppose you just get basic.

Room was lovely and clean and value for money

Cruby on outside cobwebs all over inside room was small attick room cobwebs on ceilings ok for one might

Stain on the bedsheets toilet didnt flush toiletroll stuck in windows we drove home instead of staying

This stay was awful. The lady was very welcoming however the standard of the room was awful. The bedding had a fousty smell like it had not been dried properly, the chairs were stained and in dire need of a wash. The window was broken and could not close which during a windy night prevented us from sleeping. The room was full of cobwebs and there were no lightbulbs in the side lights. In the corridor just outside the room was a huge rotten hole in the ceiling which was not appealing to the eye or comfortable for the kids the walk past. This was a memorable stay for all the wrong reasons unfortunately. I would not recommend anyone staying here until this place has been given a good clean and work done.

We had a delightful stay, Claire was very friendly. The room was lovely and clean. There was plenty of tea and coffee for the room. Had a lovely shower. What else can you ask for?

On arrival we were greeted with a dirty pair of pants in the bathroom. The tap in bathroom was stiff and wouldn’t turn off properly the shower was awful no power and smallest shower head possible was told there was toiletries but there isn’t as only on a 1 night stay took none luckily a spar round the corner. The room itself was dusty & very hot then to complete it all in the morning turned on tv for my little niece to watch but didn’t work. Plus point il never have to go to this cesspit agai.

Excellent service the host was welcoming and very friendly the room was clean and perfect for us. Great service. 😊

I liked my room 4, lovely seaview room so great views and looks right onto the south pier, all rooms are shower only; lovely lady Claire - nice to meet you Claire. Plenty places to eat nearby hotel, had a nice lunch at Wetherspoons which has plenty spaces to eat, some tables on the rooftop. The hotel does not have any meals but that was OK; hotel is spoilt for transport options with tram stops and bus stops right opposite and now you can get a tram direct from Blackpool North Station to either up north or down south. Some guests may not like the bingo games from the south pier as you can hear it from the room, starts around 10am till 10pm, though I quite enjoyed hearing it. Lovely being there for the switch-on of lights, my first time and also my first time staying down south, I'm usually up north. A lively area whereas up north is quieter. Very reasonable to stay at this hotel too. Will return soon!

We stayed over the weekend in the family room The lady who greeted us was very nice and showed us to our room The room was basic but clean Could do with another pillow each, blackout or darker curtains as the light flooded in at 5am and a bathroom mirror for shaving Other than that the room was okay Tea and coffee making facilities Seagulls very noisy ( not the hotels fault though ) Location was great and really close to everything Owner doesn’t live on site but gave us a number should we need her which was fine

Defiantly going to stay again. We really enjoyed ourselves. Room was spacious. It had its own shower and toilet. Very happy.

Only downside was our eldest was gutted the tv had no signal - not a bad thing though really. Would return in the future.

All three faults, the card key was unpredictable and took quite a few attempts to unlock the door. It was nice to have a kettle but no milk and only one t bag. The biggest fault was the smoke alarm beeping every 30 seconds, kept us awake mist of the night

Host was very welcoming and friendly. Room was very spacious, beds comfortable. Place is a little run down in areas... there was a hole in the roof outside our room and a window was broken and unable to open. The chairs in our room were dirty.

Lady was really helpful and nice

Wifi not working. No staff to communicate to, we were looking lost when we needed anything. No soap in bathroom. The surroundings did not look nice. Etc.

Holey towels that were like sandpaper. Ceiling sagging in bathroom. Bed too small. Outdated. Had to put kettle on floor to boil. Slow to let us in, standing outside in pouring rain waiting on a reply to doorbell. Temperature in room was good though. Glad it was only 1 night. Not value for money

This is not a hotel where you would want to stay for either a short or long holida….it’s something else entirely, and frankly, I’m surprised such a place still exists in the UK. It’s disappointing to see such a lack of standards in the hospitality industry. To be fair, we were a group of five (2 adults and 3 kids), so perhaps others may have a different experience. However, aside from a place to sleep, this hotel has absolutely nothing to offer. I am truly at a loss for words to express just how let down I am. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is its convenient location next to Pleasure Beach and directly opposite South Pier. Highly not recommend it, pay a bit more and get a decent hotel in this area.

I liked the friendliness of the host: the location (opposite south pier) & the room(sea view). The hotelier was very kind & on seeing how lame I am, gave ma a room on a lower floor. I would happily stay there again. There was confusion reaching the hotel because a rival, calling itself the Sands Venue, is under construction & the name is so close to the Sands that I can imagine other future guests getting confused. The upstart venue should be made to change its name

I understand this is a "budget" hotel but...Certainly not as advertised online. It is very very "drab". The television didn't work, no signal at all, constant dripping tap Grubby grey towels, no toilet brush, no hand soap, no coffee in the tea caddy, nobody around when you need them. They advertise politely that you respect there are children living there and to be quiet between certain hours. The said children were actually the ones to keep us awake and woke us early in the morning by running up and down, shouting and banging up above us. Luckily, we just needed somewhere to rest our heads...it certainly was not restful but we were knackered. Will definitely not be returning
