Royal Oak at Keswick

The staff and warm and welcoming. Extremely dog friendly (we received a doggy welcome pack and a doggy breakfast!). Rooms were clean with a good choice of hot drinks and other special touches (sleep spray etc). Breakfast was delicious and served promptly.

Great hotel with the sweetest staff! They assisted with everything and was so nice! Great hotel for dogs as well. The trays outside of the rooms for muddy boots was the cherry on top! Like most old buildings in th UK it gets a bit damp but the room was nice and clean

Last night of a business trip, but have stayed previously. Super location, first class breakfast & very cosy room. Couldn’t access room to after 3pm but this wasn’t a problem. There is no parking at this hotel as it is literally on the town square. Lots of public paid parking close by or you may be fortunate to find free street parking.

Very courteous, helpful staff. Please note that they would allow check in ONLY at or after 3pm. Parking is a short walk away.

What a brilliant inn! A great bar with a fabulous selection of local ales, plus the standard largers and beers. Check in was friendly and efficient. The room, warm and cosey with a lovely, comfortable bed, plenty of storage and a good sized, clean bathroom. The shower was fantastic - hot and powerful. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and good quality. But the best thing about the place was the staff - absolutely fantastic, every one of them. Friendly, cheerful, helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. I’d stay again in a heartbeat and would thoroughly recommend.

Extremely friendly staff, great selection of local ales. Food was exceptionally good, large portions served piping hot. Brilliant central location with several carparks located nearby. The hotel is extremely dog friendly.

We stayed one night on the way back from Scotland to London with our dog. They staff were very welcoming and friendly. They LOVE dogs so it was a holiday for our pup aswell. They also do a doggy dinner of mash, chicken and gravy for £1.60!! Food was good, room was Cozy, loads to do around town. Have already recommended it to friends. We would stay again for sure

Daryl, the manager, took great care of us, as did all the staff. Had two dinners and two breakfasts, all the meals were great! There is no onsite parking so either find a parking spot on your own or pay for parking in one of the lots. There is a loading area right by the hotel door, so we were able to check in, get our luggage to our room and then find parking. There is no luggage rack or closet, except for a small open rod that had a 7-8 hangers - had to leave suitcases and bags on the floor. Location is perfect, right in the heart of downtown.

Excellent location, well presented rooms all in good style with the location, nice hotel, breakfast was good and not greasy for a full english, very very dog friendly, loved this about the place and the staff clearly all dog people. Will definitely stay again

Beautiful little hotel. We booked a 'cosy' room and it was perfect for our 1 night away, even a tray outside the rooms for any muddy boots. Service was a little slow in the restaurant area at breakfast and checking out we had to find a staff member, but all in all fantastic hotel and we'd definitely go back. Perfect location with beautiful roof top views

Another nice stay at this lovely pub. It’s been refurbished since our last stay and it’s been done very tastefully. A warm welcome on arrival and even a room upgrade which pleased my daughter no end as was her first ever hotel stay. Room was clean and spacious and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was one of the best around. Great service and a huge menu choice. All in, a great over night stay and will hopefully be back again in the near future.

We had a fantastic time at the Royal Oak. All of the staff were really nice and looked after us. We stayed in Room 15 which is on the top floor and is nice and cozy, very clean and had aircon. The complimentry tea, coffe and water was good quality along with the bathroom products which were also available at the shop in the main square. Breakfast was 10/10 in terms oif quality (locally sourced) and choice.

The room was very comfortable and clean the shower was great the was food was very nice and the beer was as well and the staff were all very friendly

We stayed here in 2021 and loved it so came back, It seems to have new owners/management so has changed somewhat, This stay we were in a very small and very hot room (maybe above the kitchen? It wasn't warm outside) and although it was clean - the drain smell from the bathroom was strong.(Room 1) Staff were nice - very dog friendly.

The hotel room carpet is very dirty. The hotel can be noisy at times. Finally the management needs to work on the art of customer service and respect their customers when making a request.

The little extras made this room so much better. The breakfast was fairly nice and the pub served food on the evening. We didn’t eat there because it was quite pricey for the type of food. The place is located right in the centre of Keswick and was a great base. The room was quite hot, but there was a fan. We would stay again if the price was reasonable.

Whilst the room was done out very nicely, was nice and clean and had a great location in the town centre, it was absolutely tiny, the smallest room we have ever had. My husband and I had one large suitcase and one small/medium one. There’s hardly anywhere to put anything in the room so we had to have both cases on the floor and leave most of our stuff in the case during our stay. There was one piece of furniture comprising a rail for hanging clothes, a surface underneath that had a coffee machine on it but there was nowhere really to put it to use it, unless you wanted to have it steaming your clothes above. At the top there was a further bit of rail that had a small round mirror on it, which was handy. Below was a shelf mostly filled with a tray containing a kettle and packets of tea and coffee. There was a thin piece of surface to the left of the tray where I put my hair straighteners and about 1-2 inches of surfaces in front of the tray where I just put the jewellery I had been wearing that day. There was one drawer. There was just a tiny glass shelf in the bathroom. The bathroom was tiny, I would say a bit less than 2mx2m. The twin beds were the smallest size you can get (2.5 feet/75cm) and it felt like sleeping in a straight jacket. We decided not to let the cleaners in as they couldn’t really clean the room properly as it was such a mess as there was nowhere to put our stuff away. Breakfast was very hit and miss.

This was a great spot, right in the centre of Keswick. Delicious breakfast included and warm, friendly service. The room was spacious and nicely appointed. Our only complaint was that it was quite warm and difficult to cool down in the evening, even with fan on and windows open.

Very central spot to stay in Keswick, as we made our second visit to the Keswick Mountain Festival. Very friendly - to humans and dogs! We had the same room as last time, which was fine, but it is difficult to keep the room cool - even in May - especially as there is a fair bit of town noise if you leave the windows as open as permitted. I do think this needs looking at. Breakfast, dinner and bar service was great, with very friendly staff throughout!

Room was tiny, about a foot between bottom of bed and wall, you had to turn sideways and watch you didn't bang your head on tv on wall. I know you have to accept its a tiny room but to put the tv there and make less room to get past is crazy with no thought, also staff doing breakfast made loads of mistakes with either getting our order wrong or takiking food to wrong tables, i saw this numerous times

A lovely hotel with friendly staff in a great location. Our room was a wee bit small but comfortable. Another in our party had a magnificent suite.

The property was clean and well put together. My only comment would be to add a couple more fans on the days it is really warm. We had two rooms but only one fan, and even with the windows open it was very warm.

Travelling for business, excellent food - staff really friendly and go above and beyond.

Property was fine. Our issue was that we wanted to reduce our stay to 2 nights instead of 3. We tried the phone numbers provided by Expedia but could not reach the hotel in advance. We even had our hotel try them and no answer. So as a result we were not able to provide them advance notice. We informed them that we would only be staying 2 of the 3 nights, but they would not give us any refund whatsoever. They even charged us for the breakfast on the day we were not there. The attendants kept saying they there was nothing they could do. My biggest issue is that if I could have reached them in advance and confirmed that I would be charged the full amount, It would have influenced my decision on making the change in the first place. Bottom line is that that they were very difficult to reach and communicate with.

From the time checked in the housekeeping hosts sought to make sure we had what we needed and were comfortable. We needed to leave earlier than breakfast serving time to catch our train and the kitchen was kind enough to send us with a take away. I’d highly recommend this hotel because of their attentiveness to us personally.

Breakfast service was poor we seemed to be forgotten about both mornings waiting up to 35/40 mins after ordering and getting in complete order,hotels nice just lacking seating for just wanting a drink.

I love this place,staff are brilliant they are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble,I will certainly be visiting again.beautiful shower I didn't want to get out.perfect breakfast served with a smile.thank you for a very enjoyable stay.the lovely staff I can't praise enough 🤗👍

I can't speak too highly of this hotel. The staff couldn't do too much for us, they were courteous and polite at all times. The quality and choice of food was second to none, for the lake District, it was extremely competitively priced....we will be back, soon, for another break.

From the moment we arrived to the minute we left, the hospitality we received from the warm welcoming, friendly staff was incredible. Our dog was spoilt rotten with love and treats. Both Sunday lunch and Breakfast were beautiful. Our room was modern and very clean. But without doubt the staff make this such a special place.

Lovely historic inn right in the middle of Keswick. Close to everything in town, and a great hub for exploring the Lake District. The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful, and accommodating. All the staff were pleasant and positive. Tasty breakfast options.

This place is a gem. Great food, great service, reasonable price and conveniently situated in the middle of Keswick with 5 minute walking access to everything that Keswick has to offer including Lake Derwent Water.

Very handy location 2 minutes to local bus , very good for the bars and restaurants

This property is situated in a great location in the center of Keswick. Breakfast and food in the restaurant was excellent. The rooms complemented the historical character of the building. The staff were very pleasant and responsive.

Quality little hotel at the top of the square, with a banging breakfast !
