We were super impressed by all of the changes made at this hotel. From the minute you walk in, you can tell that everything is brand new. Well, the furniture, the flooring, the pain, the finishes, etc. There is still the historic charm but the interior is brighter, more up-to-date and clean. Even the check-in desk is more modern. We loved our room! My only complaint would be the lighting in the bathroom but the products, the tile, the sink, the light around the mirror - all so nice!! The room was great! It would use a mini fridge but that's really my only bit of feedback. The room is spacious, the carpet clean, the new furniture (lights, couches, chairs, table, etc.) all updated and well appointed. For the people that complain about the pool & hot tub being closed, deal with it. It's going to be worth it for your next stay. The restaurants are great!! While we didn't eat, we had two drinks. I've eaten at both restaurants (multiple times) and never had an issue. The super friendly piano player (he had a great laugh) was so kind & even played our songs. We had some coffee before we left but missed breakfast as we prefer sleep over food. We had no issues with the construction. The staff working around the hotel were very friendly. We can't wait to go back!

Beautiful area with lots of trees. Hotel has been remodeled which is nice. Our room was clean and staff was friendly. The gym is nice too and free breakfast is decent. The attached restaurants are overpriced and the food is absolutely terrible unfortunately. There are not other dining options in walking distance. And sadly the restaurant didn’t honor the $20 coupon given to us at check in. Overall would stay there again, but would not eat at the restaurant.

My room appeared to have been recently renovated (a sign posted in the elevators said renovations were being performed), and the bathroom and bedroom were in excellent condition. The temperature control worked well. The grounds and the interior appear to be nicely designed for weddings and similar events. Unfortunately, my room was close to the ballroom where a band was playing loudly until 11 p.m. one night when I had to get up early the next morning. Assignment to a room in a different wing of the building, or at least a warning from the staff about the event and its schedule, would have been considerate.

We liked the property a lot (fyi - it is under renovations but the rest was lovely). Front desk staff was great. We were there for a wedding and the food was excellent. Our room, however, was a bit run down. The tub was dirty so we didn’t take showers there. By the time we noticed after the wedding it was past midnight so we didn’t want to say anything. The bedding was comfortable and appeared clean.

Cleaning staff was amazing, room was immaculate every night I returned to the room. Having a fantastic restaurant on the premises was also great. Check and check was quick and smooth. Plan to stay there next time I'm in town on business!!

Train station across from parking lot and train whistles blow several times throughout night makes sleeping difficult.TV has DISH with mostly old reruns. Room was recently updated but bathroom faucets both leaked. Also no way to reach front desk from room phone. Room needs info sheet. Room view is of a rooftop with lots of piping. Hotel was recently renovated and clean. Breakfast was average continental self serve. Convenient to downtown Madison, NJ and the local colleges.

Always a great stay!! Super clean & lovely staff! Check-in was a breeze. The gentleman that helped us is often there and he's so nice. The staff at the restaurant are top notch. We enjoyed some tunes from their piano player, an appetizer from the kitchen and great drinks from the bartenders (especially Mark). I highly recommend this hotel!!

After checking in around 6pm, we left to go to a holiday party. Upon our return we were locked out of our room, accused of trying to stay a night for free, let into the room, then confronted in our room by security insisting to see our identification and confirmation. Then a maid walked into our room at 9am because her work slip read the room was vacant. Because of an error by the hotel, changing our departure date on their computer, we were violated, accused of being thieves, embarrassed, all with no effort to correct the situation or do anything but say they were sorry to rectify the situation. We have NEVER felt more violated or embarrassed at a hotel. They tried to blame the error on Expedia, but our reservation in our account was accurate. It was hotel personnel's error and no effort was made to correct this, from the night before, to the overnight, to the next morning. We were mortified and felt violated and unsafe. A shame as it appeared to be a beautiful hotel with lovely amenities. Their staff needs a lesson in customer service, IT and security. Even thinking about it now upsets and infuriates me. What a horrible end to what was supposed to be a lovely night out over the holiday.

It’s a beautiful property. The rooms were great but we didn’t have any hot water for the showers. There were four of us two of us took cold showers and they never did anything about it except saying oh sorry about that. I complain to two different people told them I’d like someone to call me and I never heard from anyone.

When I got to my room, there was no TV remote. I called the front desk to inquire about it and the front desk attendant made me feel like I was the problem. I asked for someone to come up and locate the remote that he insisted was in the room. After 15 min of waiting< i went down stairs and asked for another room. No sorry for the inconvenience - nothing. I went upstairs and was greeted by a room with a remote - great. I go to sleep and suddenly I awakened by the loud sounds of wind whistling through the window -which won't seem to shut all the way (don't get this room if there is any wind - you won't sleep. When I was leaving I noticed a charge for $20 "facility fee". I asked what that was for and they said, "parking, breakfast and wi-fi" I said, your parking lot is empty, I didn't use the wi-fi and it said that breakfast was included with the fee I paid to stay there. He said, "I don't know what to tell you." Again, no sorry, no attempt to make anything better...nothing. I asked what other people had to say about this mysterious charge and he said, "nothing". If this is your kind of place - have a good time/

Front desk service was excellent and the location is very convenient for anyone needing to use the commuter train service. The hotel is a bit rundown and maybe their cleaning procedures need to be revamped. Both mornings I was awakened by a knock on the door by housekeeping at 8:30 am. Maybe Do Not Disturb signs would be a good idea.

Third time for us staying at this hotel. We find a parking very convenient and ample. The rooms are spacious, extremely comfortable bed. Bathrooms are standard for a hotel but clean with ample hot water and nice towels. Front desk is always helpful. There were some renovations going on at this time, but it did not interfere in anyway with our stay. For us this is a very convenient replaced hotel with easy interstate access. There is a train line that runs nearby and during the day you can hear the trains intermittently. There is a complimentary breakfast which is more than adequate. We will stay here again.

One of our favorite hotels. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. The adjacent restaurant is really good as the included breakfasts in the morning. Getting to Madison and Morris is easy and New York is reachable by way of the train station across the street.

Was very happy with our stay. The hotel itself is beautiful. Our room was incredible. Everything from the lobby to the room was clean. Staff at the front desk were very friendly. Breakfast in the morning was great. We would stay there again!!

Came for a wedding. Lovely room, beautiful property, and easy check in experience. Notably was very quiet despite being given a room on the first floor close to the elevators with ongoing foot traffic into the late evening. Also, bagels in the morning were some of the best I’ve had and that’s saying something. I’m genuinely curious where they get them from, may need to call!
