The room was lovely. Comfortable clean, great views. Bathroom was very good, with shower, double dink and jacuzzi bath. Breakfast was very generous. The poached eggs were amazing! Will definitely return

Great hotel - private, quiet setting, with amazing views of hills/countryside. Location ideal for us; far enough out of town to be rural and peaceful, yet only a short 15/20 min walk from small town of Ambleside where there are lots of lovely shops, bars/pubs and restaurants to choose from. Welcoming staff. Beautiful house with period features (signs of wear/mould, expected due to size/ age) Fabulous gardens (some areas not accessible due to lack of maintenance) Large, well designed room with period furniture and huge bed. Comfortable chairs to relax and enjoy the wonderful views. (Contemporary mirror didn’t quite fit with the rest of the furniture and maybe some artwork above the fireplace would finish it off well. Beautiful throw in wardrobe - I would show this off on bed as too pretty to put away) Quilt was thick so option of a sheet would have been nice, as it was hot during our stay, but thankful for the large fan provided. Great to have large fridge for cold drinks on hot days (on floor - would be easier to access if raised) No recycling bin. Bathroom very large, with huge jacuzzi bath and powerful shower- great to have towelling bathrobes, flannels, even cotton balls, provided. A chair in here would be a welcome finishing touch. Delicious breakfast, good quality local ingredients and great range of options. Criticisms above are well meant, and were very small things that didn't effect our stay, but may help improve future stays. Would definitely stay again.
