Holiday Inn Express and Suites Newberry by IHG

The hotel and hot tub were out of service due to renovations. But the staff and breakfast were excellent. Hotel was clean and safe.

For the most part, the place was clean and inviting. I was looking forward to the pool area a lot. When i got there, the pool was very cloudy and had two different areas that looked like film (Lotions/oils/etc) were collecting. The jacuzzi was clean.

Everything was great! The staff even made the pool warmer for us! Only negative was no waffles at breakfast. Other than that, breakfast was amazing!!

I stayed here during a Spartan race. This is the quietest room I have stayed in, room was very clean only complaints about the room was it had no toilet paper holder and the shower head was kind of weak. I did call the front desk about the wifi my question was answered,but the staff member said she had a kobby full and I would have to call back later. Biggest problem was that the elevator was broken and I had to climb to the 4th floor after a Spartan race. All in all it was a pleasant stay.

I like that it was at an I-26 entrance/exit ramp and close to Newberry College. The room I stayed in wasn't clean and the coffee pods not stocked (only decaf). The pool had a layer of stuff on the surface.

The staff was amazing and friendly. The gym is extremely well equipped. My AC didn’t work so they switched my room to another one but that didn’t work either. Other than that I had a great stay and would definitely stay again!

Woke up bitten on head and legs. Noticed a bed bug on wall and in bed under pillows.

My stay was 4day they only cleaned my room 2times. When I arrived there was hair all over the bathroom counter and floor. Room was dirty.

Room was not very clean at all. I can deal with a property being older and outdated (which this one was). There’s a difference, though, in outdated and dirty. This room we stayed in was dirty. The staff we encountered were at least extremely friendly. However, the gentleman serving breakfast could be heard coughing numerous times in the kitchen, and then I saw him placing biscuits with his bare hands in the containers to be served. He was extremely kind, but that was not nice to witness. My wife also found a hair in her bacon. Will not stay here again based on the lack of cleanliness alone.

We are from Newberry but live in Tennessee, so we have definitely found a place to stay whenever we visit home! The hotel is very clean, staff were friendly, and the breakfast was a hit!

The staff was very friendly, helpful, and efficient. This was one of the quickest check-in experiences I’ve ever had. The free breakfast had lots of options and the hotel and room were clean. The room had some nice convenient features and was new/upgraded.

I should preface this review with. I am a hotel general manager and have been for 25 years. The front desk clerk was very friendly, however he was sitting down and wearing a baseball cap. This was our first day in an IHG property In some time. I thought we should have been offered membership in the rewards program. we were not. upon entering our room, we immediately noticed that our bed looked to have been slept in. Our bathroom was very dirty with hairs on the floor and in the tub. unfortunately, the theme continued throughout the room. the carpet was dirty. the furniture was dirty and stained. because of this I decided to do a full inspection and even found zip ties on top of the cabinet. we left them there. so if you go into our room and look on the first cabinet when you walk in, put your hand up there. if you're going to find zip ties. looks like I've been there for some time. breakfast was the worst I've ever had. in fact, I threw up after eating the cinnamon roll. gravy from the biscuits and gravy was burnt. the eggs were wet and terrible. overall, Not only was my stay terrible but the $144 a night price was adding insult to injury at this point . This was the last minute stay due to a storm and if this is an example of IHG we definitely will not be returning

Very clean and updated

It’s currently 1am and I’ve called front desk twice because of people in the hallway being way loud waking us up, with no results. The interstate noise is horribly also!

We enjoyed the hotel, the bed was extremely comfortable, however there was a few blood stains on the duvet and sheet. The shower needed to be cleaned a little better in the corners, but the water pressure was very powerful, almost abusive. The ac in the room was good but it didn’t get super cold in the room, ended up sleeping with just the sheet.

We had a very nice, comfortable one night stay on our way from Tennessee to Myrtle Beach. The beds were plush and we slept well. Lacey was very helpful with check in and directions to restaurants. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. Our only complaint was that only one floor had a functioning ice machine. We were on the fourth floor and only floor 3 had a working unit. We would definitely stay there again.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great- there was so much variety! Only complaint is that they didnt service the room at all so we had to ask for what we needed each day, but always promptly brought it.

The unit in our room was not working well enough to heat the room. When we contacted the front desk, she came up personally to attempt and when that did not work, she offered us the option of receiving extra blankets or to switch rooms. We chose blankets, as it was already 8PM and she accommodated us quickly.

Bathroom door would not shut as it was badly out of alignment. Hotel could have been cleaner. Road noise from the interstate was very loud all night long. Service was good, breakfast was good.

I was put in one room. Smelled bad so they changed my room It did not get cool. Maintenance checked it but did not change I checked out a day early as it was too hot for me to sleep. Also toilet handle was partially broken

Smooth check in, friendly staff, clean room

We had a bad experience at another hotel and were having to find a room to replace it at 10pm at night. They were very helpful and kind. Would definitely stay again

I fell in the shower in room 101 and messed up my wwrist and my left elbow. The manager told me and my husband to call hotels.com and request a full refund for our stay. My husband called and left a message and no one ever returned our call. The staff at the motel were great, very friendly and very concerned about my fall. But as far as hotel.com I'm not at all pleased with them!!!

The stay overall was fine. Checking in was great! It was when I went to check out that we had an issue. We checked out between 8:05 AM and 8:15 AM. The lady at the desk took my room keys and said, "You will get an email when I check you out". She then put the keys on the desk and continued looking at some papers that she was holding. The lobby was empty except for her and myself. She did not acknowledge me nor did she ask how the stay was, nothing. I tried to speak with her to get a receipt showing I had checked out and she dismissed me by saying there would be an email. I left due to having somewhere to be, but I kept checking my emails. I called a few times due to not receiving an email stating that check-out had taken place. Each time, the same female answered. Each time, she was short-answered, rude, and dismissive. At this point, I was frustrated and gave up. I am still not sure if I had been checked out, but so far there hasn't been a new room charge so I am assuming so. The breakfast was great, service in that area was great. The main floor ceiling near the pool area is showing some wear and tear, but overall, clean. I would stay here again, the only difference being I would not leave until I had some sort of documentation proving I had been checked out.

Our check-in process was extremely good and handled by an extremely friendly and welcoming front desk clerk. Our rooms were great. The only complaint I had was about the staff member working in the dining room for breakfast on Saturday, July 22 - members of a family came down and were obviously getting breakfast for other family members back in their room. The gentleman overseeing the breakfast yelled at them from across the room, "There is a LIMIT on how much you can take!" It was rude and disrespectful of the family and added a feeling of discomfort which should have been a nice breakfast. Otherwise, the stay was fine.

The kitchen stopped bringing food out at 9:30 am, a 1/2 hour before breakfast ended. What’s the purpose of staying open until 10 then! It may have been the staff, however if that’s the SOP, something should change. There was cold cereal left. Nothing else, and the kitchen staff was just there in back.

THE BEST breakfast I have EVER had at a hotel. It was a legit breakfast with a gentleman who was very attentive to bringing out hot, fresh biscuits, sausage gravy and keeping the area clean. It was better than some restaurants with a big variety of food...and the coffee was great too. Y'all get an A+! Keep it up. This along with a great staff and a very comfortable stay puts this hotel on the top of the list when I'm in the area again.
