This is an old style building but could use some TLC. Very rundown and needs a good clean. Beds were passable but nothing special. Rooms had good heating. Lady at the service counter when checking in did not want to be there and felt more of an hindrance to her. There is approx 7 car spots for all those rooms so be prepared to park on the street.

Lovely hotel, a little old but room was spacious and bed comfy. In a great location. Pity they don’t utilise the common spaces more- it was all closed up at 6pm, even the bar!

Very warm welcome from the hotel staff, however I guess it is cold Hotel Blue as I turned a little blue from the cold. It was freezing cold in the public areas with not heating available and we were told that there was a problem with the chimney so the log fires could not be used. As the main reason we choice the Hotel was because of the welcoming log fire, we will not be staying there again during winter.

The location of the property is great. The parking onsite is limited but there is also street parking. The beds are very comfortable and there is adequate heating and airconditioning in the rooms. The bathroom is in need of maintenance to deal with the peeling paint and mould. The breakfast starts at 8am.

The only criticism I have is that the allocated parking is not considered by other guests. We came back after dinner at 8:30 pm to find our parking place had been taken. This meant we were required to park in the street. If I had known this could happen beforehand I would not have booked this establishmment.

beautiful property with lots of character. room was small but cosy & just what we needed for our stay. breakfast was included. property was just beautiful, a real charmer with a dining room, games room/lounge, bar. great location.

Room not too clean (a lot of dust, grime and spots of mould). Tad noisy from traffic (room facing main road) and thin walls (floor board creeks, walking on floor above and talking in other rooms). Room felt stuffy and small. Breakfast and kitchenette underwhelming. Did like the fireplaces in the common areas and the free boardgames (even though pieces missing). Wouldn’t stay again

Totally run down and overpriced! Avoid it! The carpets in the room were old and filthy. When it rained I had a water leak dripping beside the bed. The bathroom was best part but temperature from the shower changed so much and so quick, I got scolded on my back. For the hotel info - I was in room 5 and the waterfall was right hand side of bed - I guess you know as the paint was peeling!

My sister and I booked a twin share room, but ended up really with a room EACH, with steps, a doorway, but no door between them. It was perfect - together, but our own space too! Very unusual, and kind of in keeping with the feeling of being from another era. Comfortable, clean, friendly, everything we could want - and old fashioned. Like revisiting our childhood, but with mod cons!

Nice historical building. Common areas, like the living area and the restaurant look very nice and feel cozy. Bedrooms are large but are in need of an uplift, or at least a paint job. Beds are comfy, TV works well, bathroom had a good size, with good water temp and pressure. Aircon did work well as too. Location is perfect, halfway between Echo point and the Katoomba city centre, so you can walk to both areas. Lots of parking available at (and around) the property. Good breakfast - various types of bread, coffee, cereals, fruits, etc. Staff were super friendly. Wi-fi did work, but would struggle a bit when there were many devices connected. Overall I would stay there again, good price for what it offers.

The air condition unit in our room did not work. After 2 hours of us attempting to get the unit to work (in a room that was VERY cold due to the prevailing ambient conditions in Katoomba) ...I mentioned this concern to the reception staff member, and we were relocated to another room where the air condition unit did work. Our concern is that the reception staff did not apologise for our inconvenience, nor provide service with a smile. We were made to feel like we were a burden to the reception staff member. A smile costs nothing, and is so welcoming to a customer...

Disappointing Stay – Poor Service and Inadequate Facilities We had one of our worst experiences at Hotel Blue and Cottages. The front desk staff was rude and dismissive, showing little concern for customer. The air conditioning unit in our room started leaking during the night, forcing us to turn it off on a hot day. With a 5-year-old in the room, we endured a sleepless night in unbearable conditions. Despite the hotel providing an after-hours contact number, our calls and texts went unanswered. The next morning, I received a casual response, “Hi, just got your message,” which lacked any sense of urgency or apology. When I raised this at checkout, the staff simply said they would “look into it” but offered no apology or resolution. If after-hours support is not genuinely available, why advertise it? This experience was unacceptable, and we will not be returning.

I love this Hotel. We have stayed twice this year. It’s in a perfect location for visiting the Blue Mountains and only 10 minute walk to the centre. Great value for money :)

Excellent location, easy walk to town & longer walk to Echo Point and escarpment tracks. RSL across the road, good for easy dinners. An old style affordable hotel, providing the basics. A plus is the good continental breakfast included in price, so it’s easy to head off to explore the area.

Just had one night here in a standard room. Room was compact but any longer we would have been tripping over everything. But t had all we needed. Bathroom is compact. It is an old hotel but is in keeping for the area. Location is good. There was a continental breakfast, which was good to start the day.

The place is lovely and the staff do polite. It is an older building so there are some quirks but we had a wonderful stay. The water was hot, bed comfy and everything to our needs. Breakfast was basic but good. The staff really made it, they clearly love the place and their customers.

Antiquated. Front desk not open for ckeck-in until 2 and not very friendly. Breakfast is a joke. We were there 45 minutes after opening and butter for toast all gone and no one around to replenish. Little variety. Have to make coffee with powdered substance and add water from a pot, not even warm.

Sadly our room was not the one in the photo. Little let down. Quite old hotel, old furnishings and style, little creaky and drabby. Breakfast of basic cereals and tinned fruit a little disappointing too. Very basic. But overall was convenient for access to the town. For two nights it was okay.
