Lovely stay at a very friendly & welcoming hotel. Rooms are basic but very nice. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Pool is a separate Uni pool - the hotel could do with more clearly advertising that while hotel guests can use it, they need to bring their own towels.

very basic rooms - more like a college for than a hotel. staff not overly friendly which was surprising. couldn’t get in restaurant even for an early dinner on first night without reservation. Biggest disappointment was pool closed for maintenance and not easy to see that through expedia booking. thankfully - expedia customer service called the hotel and we were refunded. found a great vrbo instead.

The details on Expedia said that there was a pool at the property, this is untrue, the pool is a 10 minute walk away, and a 10 minute walk back, which was manageable the first day because the weather good. The second day however torrential rain meant I was not prepared to make the 20 minute round trip to swim. I would have booked Creiff Hydro had I know about the location of the pool. Not happy about being deceived.

This hotel is part of the university. It advertises a pool but you must walk to it(10 min). Children must be strong swimmers and only lane swim. We were not told to take towels so we had to walk back wet. Room was very warm, no fans available and windows opened only a crack. Lift was a far walk from rooms.

Good location. Has the use of pool and gym although can be very crowded. The breakfast is good value. Dinner is a bit more pub food than a restaurant as they do not open the proper dining room

This is a repurposed dormitory on a university campus, rather than an actual hotel. It does not have a gym or a pool - it instead provides guests with access to the university gym and pool, which is a 5-min walk away. My 11-year old was very disappointed that the hotel did not have a pool. I was also disappointed that there wasn’t a gym onsite - this info should be specified in the expedia description. Moreover, the hotel does not provide cleaning services for your room during your stay. Finally, please avoid this place if you have an electric car - it does not have its own chargers. Instead you’re supposed to use the chargers in the university parking lot, which is a five-minute walk away. However, these chargers are not designed to be used very quickly, nor can they be used overnight. The bottomline is that we were unable to charge our car and had to go into town to do it - it was a huge hassle.

Room 103 needs a refurbishment, mouldy ceiling in bathroom, bizarre electrics - light switch behind TV!? Outside guttering next fixing. Lights from the next door office on all night shining in the room, no headboard to bed, beds very short. Overall very poor experience in this room. Breakfast was also poor quality for the high price.

Unfortunately on the second floor near the room there was a distinct smell of urine. Not sure if dogs had been there previously. The bathroom was not very clean and the beds were extremely uncomfortable.

The welcome was spot on, efficient and friendly could not fault the young lady on reception. One bedside light in our room was not working, reported this immediately, reported again at breakfast and again later yet it was not repaired. The hotel is beginning to shows signs of being rather tired, bedroom furniture scratched, very small areas of mould in the bathroom and stair treads taped etc

Dirty rooms,mould around bath under seal and on grout, furniture was shabby and dated ,all scrapped could do with a lick of varnish, that was the 1st room, second room i was offered had a white stain dribbling from the bed, in bathroom skirting was rotting and broken discoloured too needs a good clean ,and the floor in bathroom had a big dip in it must be rotted i nearly lost my balance cos floor was uneven, the place needs bulldosed disgusting place, ive cleaned holiday homes schools etc etc all my life and to a very high standard so i know how to clean, cleaner needs to be trained on how to clean, i asked her to please clean bath in 1st room she sprayed the bathroom with a bleachy spray that made me wheeze , i have asthma, the woman didnt clean it proparly, reception and the bar staff were brilliant , stay away from this place .

We had 2 rooms booked, one room was fine but the TV was tiny the other room however was anything but, there was no hot water so we were moved to a second room with damp patches on the carpet and mould in the Bathroom and another tiny TV witch was almost impossible to watch they stay were lovely very helpful easy to approach and the breakfast was amazing

A comfortable room and nice desk. More steps than I expected though, as I had a heavy suitcase (travelling for several months). The staff were helpful there though, getting it up the steps for this no longer young person. The steps were no problem for me; only getting the suitcase up was. I would like to have been able to open the windows properly to cool the room at night. The minuscule amount they opened was a joke. I know this is Scotland, but windows still should open more then they did. The room which could have been cooled by night air, stayed overheated. Wifi was good.

I arrived late (21:30) & there was nobody at reception, i was tired & desperate for the toilet after a long wet & dark journey, in the the end I spotted where it was & went in & after coming out the receptionist was there to sign me in. The noise from other rooms I walked past was crazy! There was literally zero sound proofing, I could just hear people talking as clear as if they were sat at the next table! My room was ok just a bit run down with the shower head not staying in place meaning I had to lean against the wall for it to get me. The worst thing though by far was the TV! There were two remotes! One to change channel & the other for the volume, this disnt matter though as there was a big message superimposed across the screen which wouldnt go off no matter what I did & the remote to change channel didn't work anyway! I ended up sitting in bed watching "Youtube" on my phone! Before leaving I raised my complaint to the receptionist & was told "I'll get it looked at! Clearly its been looked at as before as theres a worn sticker on each remote saying what it does (or doesnt do) I was up & out for work in the morning by 7am & glad that I didnt have to suffer the 3 nights my colleagues had there!!

Great stay. Do not sleep on the breakfast buffet add on. Very worth it. Can’t beat this place for the price in Sterling from what I’ve seen so far. Only note is that the rooms get a bit toasty. It didn’t bother me too much and I think you can ask for a fan at front desk if you need.

Room is very dated, it was clean enough but the furniture was old and damaged, light didn’t work properly as it flickered consistently. Bed was really uncomfortable, super hard in the middle then softer at the edges. Never seen a tv so small in my life. Room was really humid when we first went in. There was also very obvious staff conflict in the evening, one waitress in particular appeared very rude to another one. Conflict was very obvious to customers, not very professional.

Unfortunately, only one member of staff was on shift during dinner time; it was fully booked and even though I had managed to reserve a table, the only person in charge was struggling with coping with all the customers. Few were turned out as there was no availability and I left after 20 minutes waiting at my table. Other than that, the room was clean, tidy and comfortable and the location was quiet and beautiful.

Our first impression was the building is old and tired and in need of a face lift. Our booking couldn’t be found and we were kept waiting for 25 minutes. Staff failed to explain not only to ourselves but other guests what was required when exiting the property with your vehicle - (a ticket from the check in desk was required to be collected to scan at the gate). The room was tired and furniture well worn. Bathroom cabinets required replacing as they had swelled and blistered. The room itself was very clean, the bed comfortable and large bath towels were provided.

A very warm welcome on arrival. Hotel clean and well maintained. Food was excellent. All staff were friendly and professional. Good parking facilities, with the added bonus of a bus stop opposite with frequent buses into town. Would return and recommend.

i clicked through the email about 'how was check in?' The stay was fine, but check in and then subsequent trips to breakfast were not good as there was no obvious flag on the hotel system that we had booked breakfast. i had to search on the app with little mobile reception at the reception desk and eventually find a small note of Full breakfast included which the hotel grudgingly accepted. We were then obviously not added properly to the room list and had to go through this rigmarole again at breakfast. i clicked through the email about 'how was check in?' The stay was fine, but check in and then subsequent trips to breakfast were not good as there was no obvious flag on the hotel system that we had booked breakfast. i had to search on the app with little mobile reception at the reception desk and eventually find a small note of Full breakfast included which the hotel grudgingly accepted. We were then obviously not added properly to the room list and had to go through this rigmarole again at breakfast. Staff weren’t friendly in the restaurant. Receptionist made a mistake with my booking and on check in we waited 30 minutes to check in.room had window wild open, cold and smelted terribly.Manager next day was professional and offered us a free meal. Sewage in assessable bedroom was terrible and we felt sick all night. Tv didn’t work and staff didn’t always come. No porter after 11 pm. No phone to call reception and had to use mobile. Very disappointing for the money.

I love this hotel it’s on the university campus and the area is spectacular,the Wallace Monument is in the background,it has a lake and the grounds are a great place to walk,within walking distance to Bridge of Allen,transport excellent,there is a ship,snack bar and chemist,the hotel itself is comfortable,quiet and staff excellent

The place is a solid 30mim walk to the Stirling Old Bridge. It’s a lovely walk so I didn’t mind. It’s also right next to a bus depot with bus’ running into town frequently , very easy to use the public transit system. So overall I really enjoyed it . Short walking distance to Wallace monument and to Wallace Pub. Hotel was clean and had a good breakfast and a nice lounge. Overall really enjoyed staying here.

Staff was friendly, professional and helpful. Unfortunately, only one member of staff was on shift during dinner time; it was fully booked and even though I had managed to reserve a table, the only person in charge was struggling with coping with all the customers. Few were turned out as there was no availability and I left after 20 minutes waiting at my table. Other than that, the room was clean, tidy and comfortable and the location was quiet and beautiful.

Great stay. Do not sleep on the breakfast buffet add on. Very worth it. Can’t beat this place for the price in Sterling from what I’ve seen so far. Only note is that the rooms get a bit toasty. It didn’t bother me too much and I think you can ask for a fan at front desk if you need.

Initial room was nice enough, but smeeld strongly of either perfume or air freshener - so much so that it was as if someone had tipped the entire bottle into the room. This was rectified by offering us a different room. The Hotel purports to be dog-friendly, but ours wasn't allowed in the bar. As he wasn't allowed to stay in the room on his own, we had to shut him in the car while we had a drink. The grounds surrounding the hotel are beautiful, with a number of scenic walks, through wooded areas. Parking was easy and free fopr residents, and some of th staff were very helpful and friendly, whilst others - most notably at breakfast - were a little less so. The breakfast buffet offering was abysmal and definitely not worth the £13.50/person. Pastries hadn't been replenished, very little on offer on the buffet, other than overdone bacon, inedible sausages and eggs cooked to destruction. Best go elsewhere to eat for better value and quality.

Overall a good stay, suited our requirements, breakfast was good but finished at 9:00, and cleared away very quickly. We eat in the restaurant the first night and it was very good, it would have been nice if reception had advised us to book a time after we had checked they were open (Sunday night). Rooms are tired(very) but still functional and ours was large. Our room had a round toilet seat on a normal shaped toilet, Why!!!

Initially we were given a room on 2nd floor but my husband has mobility issues. However changing rooms wasn’t a problem. Room was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was a feast. Great value for money. Although there was a large private party we weren’t disturbed by any noise. Ate from bar menu. Food excellent. Service good.

Nice hotel good location easy to get a bus to city centre breakfast was good we eat dinner one night it was ok my wife had dinner there before and said it was better before drinks at the bar a little bit expensive but it is a hotel i ordered half pint of lager shandy for my wife it was just under £5 for the drink this is taking the piss a bit but overall stay was good ew will stay there again

bit surprised by the quality of the hotel tbh. they put us in a disabled room adjacent to the downstairs pub/restaurant which meant we were looking straight out at people drinking. the room had cobwebs and a dirty floor too so we asked to be moved. the other room tbh wasn't much cleaner. the hotel is very rundown and in need of a makeover - very disappointed.
