Apple Hostels of Philadelphia

Staff was responsive, polite, professional throughout my stay. I especially appreciated the secure entrances (needed in Philly city environment). They have a giant community refrigerator and you are allowed some pantry items, too. I'm 51, so the hostel thing got tough for me quickly and I didn't last long (my dorm living ended long ago), but this is a good place if you can do communal sleeping/living space. It's also about a quarter the price of hotels in the neighborhood. I didn't like that the windows didn't have drapes and I had to fight the city lights keeping me up all night, along with sharing room space with others through the night and all that means. But bathrooms, showers, communal spaces very clean and very comfortable at Apple Hostel in Philadelphia, so that itself is to be commended. The city around can be rough, I found this hostel to be a refuge for me.

Fantastic staff. Clean and safe. Provides fresh towels and lockers. Will need to buy a padlock if you don’t have one, they’re $6 from the vending machine inside the building.

Overall experience here was great. Great social space. Hostel has daily events for resedents to socialise.

Great hostel, pool table, board games. Has nice cloths to dry dishes and hands which are washed which is great for the environment.

Everyone at the front desk and all staff were super cool. Easy check-in, great policy for leaving bags before or after check-in, and overall cool vibe.

It has a great location, unfortunately the building is really old tho in acceptable conditions. The wifi doesn’t work well and room could have been colder.

The Apple Hostel is run by young people from around the world who understand hostel culture fluently. They are friendly, hospitable, relaxed, and service-oriented. There is a high quality shared kitchen, they offer local dining recommendations, and they do special mini-events every night (free soda, free beer, etc). The stairs up to the rooms still suck (this is *not* an accessible hotel!) but if you’re young and able to schlep your suitcases, don’t let those stairs chase you away; it’s a fantastic place.

The service was terrific. They have a full kitchen. Although technically there is street parking, it's extremely difficult to find one nearby, and it's expensive. However, street parking is free after 10 pm if you only need it for overnight.

This has got to be one of the best hostel experiences I’ve ever had! And at a great price! Comfy bed, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, great location! Good internet connection too.

Clean, friendly environment, big lounging area, eco friendly. Very clean bathrooms! Super organized and one can do laundry for 5$ We went during the slow season so it worked out well for us. We also went on a ghost tour with a worker from the hostel, I loved it! 5/5 stay at the hostel :)

Overall good stay, nice for a hostel and the fact that it’s in the middle of the city is excellent. Bed had weird stains on the pad and undersheets that was brown and I essentially had to lift the mattress and everything on my own because the base pad was disheveled and off. Cleanliness could’ve been upped a decent amount, honestly. There was a bunch of dust on my bed ledge/shelf which is WILD given the amount of turnover here…..

It was ok. The front desk was nice, informative, helpful,and friendly.it felt safe with the card to get in and into the rooms. The location was excellent, walkable and close to city attractions like The Liberty Bell and The Convention Center. I had only ever been to private rooms in hostels in Mexico. Didn't know exactly what to expect in my group room. The six bunk room, was actually two rooms and a bit chilly but the bed and linens were clean and the comforter was amazingly warm! I disliked the rudeness of the person on the top bunk who kept putting her suitcase in front of my suitcase. It pissed me off when she tipped it over in front of my locker instead of using her locker. I'm not sure why inconsiderate is the new acceptable??!??I'm a rule follower. She also left a bag of chocolate on the floor when we weren't supposed to have food. One can argue chocolate isn't food per se, BUT it's winter in a city, that says, hello let's invite the mice, but that isn't the fault of Apple Hostels. She was gone the next night or I would have said something. The bathrooms were a little gross, but that's people that didn't manage to use a trash can kind of thing. The fridge was a bit smelly, but the fish being cooked was too. It was nice to have a comunal room to hang out in. People were from all over there. It was a hostel.

really great location in philly, just a couple of blocks down from the liberty bell visitor's centre, super accessible via metro/bus etc. i would say the sleeping quarters felt clean and neat but the shared showers were a little grubby. would say worth the cost on location alone!

Pleasantly surprised to see a modern large kitchen, safe setting, good people socializing, friendly helpful staff. Clean beddings, nice showers.

The air vents were covered in dust which negatively effected my allergies

The bathrooms were very ample. Towels, shampoo, and body wash were provided. Good food was less than a block away. Safe area.

Ok stay; but kind of noisy at night. Ok for a short stay.

I enjoyed my stay. The bag check is helpful and it’s in a really walkable part of town. The beds could be upgraded to limit noise and movement of the bunks, but it’s great for the price. Close to transit and close to the waterfront.

AC just didn't work the first night. I got half of the cost of staying there back. I slept in my car. I had to call to get the refund. Parking sucks and is about 2 blocks away. It's not worth saving the $50, just get a real hotel room unless you don't have a car and love walking up stairs (no elevator).

Overall decent location… its a hostel so don’t go in with high expectations, but I wasn’t expecting a bunk bed since I didn’t choose that and a little pricey for a hostel in my opinion!

Very friendly young staff, reasonably clean (old buildings are always a bit musty, and the water from the taps smelled weird), and generally in used but cared-for condition. In the women’s dorm, mattress quality is not great and blankets are reused after washing, so be careful if you have allergies or spinal problems. Be aware that the facilities are not ADA-compliant; there’s no way to get in and out of the building with a wheelchair. Checkout is in the morning, but you can leave your bags in their luggage closet until 8 PM. (Keep your claim check!)

The best experience in a hostel. Stayed in a huge private room, very clean, easy check-in /check-out, great downtown location on the edge of Old City.

Was on a solo trip to the northeast and was glad to stay here after NYC. The hostel staff were all basically my age and super friendly. Excited to say I made good friends with them. Pablo, Sara, Via, they were all super helpful and fun. The kitchen was great too, was glad to not have to spend money going out.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The neighborhood is perfect to stay in for visiting Philadelphia, the Market-Frankford line is literally around the corner. I am from Philadelphia and moved out of state and I will always come stay here when I visit Philadelphia.

Close to most historical sites.

I have stayed here before and thus expected the same service and comfortable atmosphere. It is close to the metro train ( 1-2 blocks ) , plenty of restaurants , close to the historical sites and across the street from the Museum of the American Revolution.
