Did not have high expectations, but the rooms are better than expected, with air condition and the receptionist helpful. The building itself is rather old and the elevator does not go all the way to the top floor. Walked home during the night and was approached multiple times by men sitting in their cars soliciting segs, so beware of that as a woman

The hotel is an older property and the room and bath were very small. Not so small that we couldn't make due, but small. Also the air conditioner controls would not allow a temp below 21° C and a couple nights were a bit warm in the room. The elevator barely fits two people, but at least they had one. Right around the corner, a few blocks away, is a delightful area with dining and shopping for pastries, chocolates, ect. Fairly oae to the Chellet de Halles train underground. Uber would pick us in from the hotel when we needed a ride. Our drivers canceled 6 times. We ended up having the front desk call for a taxi. Price wasn't terrible but better research may have found us a larger room in a more modern hotel.

It is a typical Paris hotel; clean, small, noisy. We liked it a lot. But I do wish we had known that the tiny elevator only goes up to the fourth floor, and there were 33 additional steps to drag up our suitcases.

Petit hôtel à proximité immédiate d'une station de métro et des grands boulevards, il est situé dans une rue au calme. L'ascenseur est étroit et seul un client et une valise peut l'emprunter. La chambre était assez petite en taille et disposer d'une mezzanine ou se situé la salle de bain, celles-ci se trouvant sous le toit etait surchauffé par la chaleur extérieure avec les températures caniculaire. Location is good, five minute walking from metro Strasbourg Saint Denis or three minute from Bonne Nouvelle. Room is comfortable and size is reasonable, however the lift is tiny for two people with two suitcase. But that is typical France style. Continental breakfast not much choice but it is delicious.

Well located small and simple hotel for a short Parisian break. We walked from Gard du Nord and access to the Metro is 2 mins away. Tucked away in a side street away from most of the noise of the main road; however, it is next to a church that rings its bell very loudly each morning at 8am! Room was small but had all the necessary amenities. For a simple hotel is was very expensive, but is is Paris…

However, the facility is dated and the elevator is very small: about 2x3 ft. My room had a step stair case to the toilet and shower.

Our 1st floor standard twin room was simple but perfect for our mother and daughter 3 night stay. It was spotlessly clean and quiet with comfortable beds, its own temperature control and an opening window. The bathroom was very small but manageable. The position of the hotel was convenient for the Metro to the Eiffel Tower, and for walking to the rest of the famous Paris sights and shopping areas.

Terribly run down place, upon arrival the room stank of mould, sewage and bleach that was probably trying to cover the other faux smells. Roof windows vent full of mould, just gross. Some hair in the bedding, replacement brought by staff who gave us a few for us to change with the comment “not sure which is clean”. Property looks nothing like in the pictures, it’s super run down, not even the entrance door to the lobby opens properly and gets stuck half way. The smell of the room got mostly resolved by keeping the windows open 24/7 (which led to my pregnant partner catching cold, but hey, better than inhaling bleach and mould for multiple days). We were offered a diff room at the 2nd floor I believe, yet other reviews complain of hellish noise in the building, so we stayed in the attic. The building is indeed very loud and the lift makes very loud bang as it passes through 3rd floor I believe. This place is more like run down youth hostel than a nice hotel as it SEEMS from the heavily Photoshopped photos.

The Bonne Nouvelle is a typical modest (but well-kept and appealing) Parisian hotel, located on a quiet block just a few blocks from a boulevard with bustling cafes and a Metro stop. The rooms are, unavoidably small (this is Paris, after all!) but designed to make the most of the available space. There is a desk, chair, rack to hang clothes on, and tall wide windows. Flat screen TV. The bathroom has a rain shower, which is a pleasant surprise, given the limited size of the stall. The staff is exceedingly cordial and helpful. This is the 6th Paris hotel we’ve stayed in during the last few years and I would put it at #2 on that list. The only complaint to make: the WiFi signal was spotty, especially late at night. That may have been just an issue with the location of our room.

I didn’t realize when booking that my bathroom would be a ladders climb up! They should have been much more clear as not everyone could handle that climb, I could but didn’t enjoy doing it in the middle of the night or when arriving back and really needing it. Also, NO internet service in that room. It worked elsewhere in the hotel and the staff pretended to care and check on it but didn’t do anything about it not working. So not a place to spend a week in. Even for a day I would have gone elsewhere. I left three stars because the location was fairly convenient.

A really good little hotel. Good location with good breakfast. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Downside was intermittent WiFi, but that might be as I requested a top floor room which was in the roof, so maybe the WiFi struggled to get that far.

Excellent experience at Hôtel Bonne Nouvelle. Well-situated in the city, close to metro lines 4, 8, and 9. Lively area with restaurants and bars open late (but not so close that the noise is disruptive when you’re back in your hotel room). I stayed in the single room which was clean and compact. At first, the hotel seemed charming and had the appeal of a small boutique property. However, our experience quickly went downhill. The building is quite old, the rooms are small, and the entire hotel had a musty, damp smell that made the stay uncomfortable. The continental breakfast was very limited, and it was disappointing that the room did not include basic amenities such as a safe or a small refrigerator. We also had a major issue with the front desk staff. The young woman at the desk argued with us about our room type — we had booked a premium room (which is supposed to be larger), but she insisted on placing us in a smaller one while still charging the higher rate. After several frustrating calls with Expedia, it was finally confirmed that we were correct. Only then did she contact her manager and admit the mistake. Horrible service! Toilet flush button stopped working, and we were told they "couldn't" get someone to fix it until the next day. We had to stick our hand through a hole in the wall to flush for 36 hours before it was fixed. Also, the aircon is remotely controlled by them so you'll never get the temperature you select on the controller. It goes up several degrees shortly after you set it.

Six stars to the staff if I could. The hotel is cozy. The room is clean. The bed is comfortable. The staff were so kind and caring. They were so accommodating and treated me with kindness when I arrived early. I enjoyed the location as it is about a 15-30 minute walk to the main shopping areas. It is not too walkable to the popular tourist areas if it is too cold.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Bonne Nouvelle. The location is excellent, within walking distance to supermarkets, plenty of restaurants, and well connected by public transport. Reception is available 24/7, which was very convenient since we were traveling with our baby. The room was simple but very comfortable. It would have been even better with a small fridge, but we managed fine. The elevator is quite small, but having one at all is a plus in Paris. A highlight of our stay was the private transfer from the airport arranged by the hotel, it made our arrival much easier with a baby. On our last day, we accidentally lost our room key card, and it was replaced immediately without any issue. The hotel offers baby cots for an extra charge, though we didn’t use one since the bed was spacious enough for the three of us. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend Hotel Bonne Nouvelle.

Great Hotel! The location is fantastic, really close to Metro stations, lots of lovely restaurants bars and shops. Staff were very helpful. Offered a free Wattsapp service for assistance while we were in paris, which we used. Room was nice, actually quite large for Paris! There was a bad leak in reception on check out day, but staff were on top of it. Quite noisy at night, but this is to be expected with a city hotel

Con: looks shabby & very run down; disappointingly small “superior double” room, especially for the price; tiny lift that could barely hold 1 person with a suitcase; no restaurant or bar (we knew this), but immediate area was run down & wasn’t comfortable to walk out in the evening; coffee machine in room, but had to buy pods after the first 2 each day; no bottled water; no in-room safe; water for shower / basin often cold or luke warm as tank too limited for number of guests
