Britannia Inn Hotel

Sent us to a different lower rated worse hotel after we arrived. Claimed they were having maintenance going on even though we booked half a year before. New hotel had flies everywhere in the lobby and a dead fish floating in the aquarium. We complained until we got another hotel again. Worst hotel experience I've ever had, not recommended.

Perfectly decent hotel for a few nights stay outside of the city.

Don’t be encouraged by the low cost. This place isn’t just disappointing - it’s traumatic. I was in London with a friend. I’d booked 2 single rooms for 3 nights. On arrival we were told only one of would be staying here, with the other at another hotel 3 minutes away - actually 10 minutes. Not a great start. They also insisted on my paying a £100 security deposit - this was not mentioned in any of booking info. The room was disgusting. Tiny, dirty, a poorly capped waste pipe in the bathroom so the whole room stunk like human waste, burn marks on the carpet, a hopelessly thin mattress in the bed, with only a single pillow. It was over 25° at night and no AC or fan. Truly the worst room I’d ever seen. It was made worse by the intolerable noise from neighbouring rooms. A lot of foreign nationals shouting and playing loud music from 7am. I suspect they were more like permanent residents rather than guests. Do not stay here. You will regret it. Only one step up from kipping in a wheelie bin.

The radiator had pink dye down it, which was also found on the "clean and fresh" towels. I was asked to pay a £100 sercurity fee upon my arrival as failure to do so was going to prevent me checking in. This was not stated on the website at all when I booked my stay. Reception staff were adamant that it was on the website but no matter how many times I told them they were having none of it. Even the guests checking in after me were shocked so there's proof it wasn't just a careless mistake and misunderstanding of my own. There is actually 4 blocks to the hotel each of which has a different door posing a security risk!! Found a slug in my bathroom and crack in the freshold slabs of the bathroom. There was a dent in the floorboards under the carpet near my bedside table which could have caused me to injure my ankle and/or foot. The view from my window was someone elses back garden that could be accessed by others (so much for privacy when my room and bathroom window is literally in someone's garden). I would never ever stay here again. You get one pillow that you have to fold to get a decent night sleep. The duvet is as thin as anything. Beds are hard. Carpet is outdated. Don't stay here I don't recommend unless your desperate and beware they ask for a 100 pound sercurity fee upon arrival and you get this back 3 to 7 days after checkout which I'm yet to see if I even get back. Appalled is an understatement.
