Holiday Inn Express & Suites Havelock Northwest New Bern by IHG

Nice and clean hotel. Pleasant staff. My second stay here in a week. First time the pool was open and nice but a little chilly. Second stay, they said a pipe busted so the pool was closed. A little disappointing but not a deal breaker. Beds are pretty comfortable.

Two night stay. Room smelled like a $50 motel on the beach. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice and the attendant very friendly and always cleaning. Safe location. Grounds and entry need work. Smoking section is just outside front door. Butts everywhere. Staff was very friendly. Pool area was nice.

Nice room, comfortable beds,, good breakfast, wonderful spa tub. Unfortunately the indoor pool i had looked forward to was closed for maintenance. Staff was very friendly.

I booked through Expedia and I was told when I arrived that it would have been better to book through their site directly as I would have saved on the daily room rate. I was also told that as someone who booked on a 3rd party site, I was not considered priority to receive one of the better rooms. That did not make sense since I paid more. The room I received was musty. As soon as we opened the door, the musty smell hit us. There were scented plugins but it did not mask the musk smell well. You can also tell that the room was dated as the walls had empty areas where picture frames or mirrors might have been. The carpet was ripped up in different areas of the room. The TV was old. The sink area in the kitchenette had warped cabinets and countertop. The cabinet where the TV sat on also smelled like musk. I mean, as soon as you open a drawer or cabinet door, the smell just hit you; it was so strong. We were there while it rained. The hotel did not advertise that we would have a concert of frogs croaking all night. This let us know that the room was not sound proof at all. We could hear everything outside our room. The pool is nice but there are no lights available at night. The pool is advertised to close around 9 or 10pm. Why not turn on the lights in the pool area? We tried to find the light switch with no luck. Would I stay here again? No and that is just due to the property itself. It is dated and bordering as a motel rather than a hotel. The staff was great!

Our stay was good. A lot of people checking in at the same time. Only 1cart to bring items from the car. Was told there was 2. Next day there was still only one. No concerns about it

This was a work trip. The rroom was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was super friendly. They have a small gym which is convenient. The location is also close to MCAS Cherry Point. The only suggestion I would provide the property manager is to pay closer attention to all the trash around the building. It makes the hotel look unsightly.

The staff was efficient and accommodating. The pool was to shallow.

My shower was not clean. Seems like it was never rinsed out from the soap / shampoo on the wall.

They claim this place was renovated, but from the looks of the peeling ceiling in the bathroom, evidence of something running down the walls in the bedroom area, and dirty feeling carpet, I would say otherwise. 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper, pubic hair on the toilet, wadded up used tissues underneath the curtains, someone’s left over food in the mini fridge and pillows that smelled like feces. I had cleaner accommodations in the middle of Saudi Arabia.

The hotel was clean, staff friendly and helpful, and our room had everything we needed. Oh, and breakfast was delicious, hot and ready, nice and early! We only stayed one night, but we'll definitely be back here next time we visit our daughter.

The hotel is my go to hotel when I stay in Havelock. I needed a handicap room this time because my husband was traveling with me. The seat was broken in the shower that he needed for bathing. The furniture was extremely warn to the point that the corners on the black couch were white. It was very noticeable that upgrading needs to be done.

TV didn’t work - ridiculous you had to point right next to TV.

Very outdated, barking dogs on 3rd floor all night long. Refrigerator was broken, tile shower shelves broken. Tv was from 25 yrs ago. Stained carpet, stained pull out bed.

Jaida and Lorenzo terrific staff that went out if their way to see that we had everything needed. Air conditioning LOUD and air felt damp went not running. So Holiday Inn needs to replace and clean vents at a minimum. Vanities looked cheap. But we were out and about daytime and Domino delivered to our door!

Some good points would include breakfast, nice people, some updating going on, clean bathrooms, snd pool, the most obvious problematic thing would be the room furniture was showing serious age, and should be changed out.

Routine upkeep . Dead bolt on the door did not work. Ac unit very noisy had to turn off to sleep. Chair for desk are looks like it was totn up by a wild animal

Good clean place to stay, needs updating in rooms.

Staff was excellent in that they REALLY tried to make my stay exceptional. My only major complaint was the bed. It was TERRIBLE. Mattress needed to be replaced long ago. The sides were broken down from too many years of people sitting on the edge. The mattress wasn't overly soft, it was collapsed. I had a hard time getting in and out because it was like a giant marshmallow. Woke up both mornings with a back ache that lasted all day because you just sink down in it without any support and was like sleeping in a canoe. If they don't have a spread sheet with every room number and the date the mattress was installed they need to start one. The one thing you want for sure in a motel stay is a good night's sleep.

Comfortable beds, easy check in and out. Hot coffee available. The hair dryer was not working and the front desk attendant left one in my room while I was out with a very sweet note and cookies. Such a nice touch!

This is possibly the best hotel stay we have ever had. The property was very well maintained (fresh and clean), the staff was friendly and attentive, breakfast was excellent and served with a smile. I am in the service industry and want to give a BIG shout out to Darcie and the Team! I know her name because we engaged in a conversation 😉 - great way to build repeat customer base. Thanks again

TV didn’t work. Tried multiple inputs to little avail Only one person at front desk. Had to wait a long time to get answers. Place needs an update. Sorry I signed up for IHG membership if this is any indication of value.

We had to refresh our keys at the front desk every night when we got back to the hotel because for some reason, the system was checking us out of the hotel every day.

All in all a great place to stay for a quick trip near Cherry Point. Good location and a great breakfast. We would definitely stay again for our next visit.

It was a nice place to stay and $100 per night less expensive than comparable places in my destination Morehead City. Well worth the 20 minute drive.

The location is next to the tourist info center so seeing the old planes next door was cool! The room was clean breakfast nice & staff kind.

This hotel was great for a two night stay near family. The room was spacious and the hotel is close to everything. It was clean. Breakfast was great. Easy free parking. They have a cool fish tank in the lobby.

Facility was clean and well lit, in a convenient location. Front desk staff were friendly and professional. Our room was clean and very cold when we walked in (summertime, so it was ok), but once the temperature was adjusted it stayed pleasantly cool all night. Bed was comfortable, pillows were so nice, sheets were soft and bedding was cozy. Bathroom clean, in shower soap and shampoo, plenty of towels. Warm breakfast in the morning… pretty standard as far as breakfast goes. It all was clean and well presented. Would stay here again when we’re in that area.

The bed comfiness was awesome. The room was clean. No bugs. Breakfast options were plentiful. Front end staff cordial. Only drawback was The sink faucet in bathroom is not long enough to wash your hands in sink. Overall great stay.
