Lots of stairs with uneven steps. The rooms are nice and clean but their bathroom is difficult to use. Every time someone gets a shower the whole bathroom is wet! We had to ask for a squeegee. And if someone is showering no one else can use the toilet. Staff is good and helpful. They have stairs to the access the ocean so you can swim in the ocean but there’s basically no beach. Overall a Fair Hotel for someone who wants a place to stay and explore the island with a golf cart.

Very clean place. Wonderful views and establishment. Pro tip, rent a golf cart from Indios Golf Cart Rental and you get free access to their beach club right down the road with lots of beach chairs. You don’t have the best beach access at the hotel but they do have a fantastic deck with chairs and amazing views of the water.

Most relaxing vacation ever!! Beautiful, quiet, clean, well maintained, quaint hotel on cliff side with best views of the aqua water and Cancun waterfront! Exceptional staff that was friendly, helpful, and gracious. Stairs down to the water where swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking awaits you. Walking distance to south end beach bars with live entertainment! Paradise!

This hotel is a hidden gem and we are so lucky to have stayed here. This property is overflowing with old charm. Beautiful hotel on a cliffside with ocean views and ocean access, a pool, restaurant/bar, and very nice staff. My husband and I are childless, budget travelers in our 20s, but we chose to spend a little more for a room with an ocean view and it was 1000% worth it. The staff brought breakfast to our patio every morning and we felt spoiled. We were walking distance from a few restaurants, stores, recreation areas, and Punta Sur (10 mins). Food and drinks at the restaurant were great. Also the AC in the room was excellent and much needed. For us, this property was nearly perfect. However, it is a property with character, so there are some quirks. It is not the most updated, the wifi isn’t the greatest, and it didn’t seem the most handicap accessible (lots of stairs). The continental breakfast is a basket of rolls, sliced fruit, yogurt, OJ, and coffee (eggs, meat, pancakes, etc. available for an additional charge). For us, this was not a problem, but let this set your expectations accordingly.

Truly lovely setting - the views and accessibility to the ocean are incredible we smirked right off the little hotel beach. Pool was delightful, staff highly easy and amenable. Woukd absolutely return again when the opportunity arises.

Nous étions très heureux d’être loins de la folie du Centro. Les personnes qui commentent au sujet du prix du taxi n’ont évidemment pas vérifié l’emplacement de leur hotel. Cet hôtel est petit et chaleureux, les couchers de soleil sont magnifiques, visibles directement du balcon. Le personnel était très serviable. Le lit est confortable. La piscine était toujours trop froide. Il serait judicieux d’offrir une affiche « ne pas déranger » pour éviter de vous faire réveiller par le ménage, nous avons eu quelques difficultés avec le débit faible de la douche. La plage n’est pas directement face à l’hôtel mais accessible à partir du bord, malheureusement il y a souvent des bateaux ancrés directement face à l’hôtel qui perturbent la quiétude du lieu.

Small vintage resort with amazing views and attentive friendly staff. Comfortable and close to great restaurants and activities. We snorkeled every morning from the beach below. However if you’re not able to climb uneven rocky stairs beware. It’s part of the charm but it’s a workout. Some loud noise from hotel renovation and boat partiers. Overall a lovely place. Fair prices. I would happily return.

Mixed feelings. The staff are really wonderful. But the room we stayed in was not very nice. The bedsheets were stained, the beds not comfy & everything felt tatty. Examples: the shower curtain was pretty dirty, there were chunks of wood out of the front door, the lampshade was super old and just looked generally run down. The shower was all over the place and water didn’t flow in a single direction. It needs a good lick of paint and some TLC. The breakfast was not great, a bowl of yogurt and some bread rolls is not ideal maybe some croissants and actual milk instead of powdered creamer would be a nicer touch! That being said if you want a quiet location this is great. The staff as I mentioned can’t do enough for you and are very kind. The place just needs a lil TLC although other reviewer photos I see are nicer than the room we had.

This place is a hidden gem! The property and its amenities (great food, comfortable beds, clean pool, and kind employees) make a beautiful, tranquil getaway on the south side of this gorgeous island. But the best part is the wonderful, friendly staff! Hector and Oswaldo are the best.

our room was perfect loved the view. overall the property was just perfect. love the value. I just didn't care for the side next to the deck by the ocean. when I looked into the woods their was tons of beer cans and garbage. would of been nice not to have to look at the garbage when I was laying in the sun. we would go again and book the same place

The hotel itself is wonderful - hence the 5 star rating. The rooms are a little dated but are clean, have great views and provide you with comfortable beds and everything else you need to enjoy your stay. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on your balcony is a dream and was one of my favorite things. The property is located on a slightly steep hillside that cascades down to the sea. Those with mobility issues should be aware that there are many steps and there isn’t an elevator. A note on the surroundings and what I would change if I visited again. We preferred this end of the island. In my opinion, it’s much easier to relax. It’s quieter and there are far less people compared to the Playa Norte/Downtown area. We broke our trip up into two stays with Hotel La Joya being our first and then we moved up to a hotel close to Playa Norte. Next time, I would probably stay here the whole time and seek out a good deal for an extended golf cart rental.

This hotel is a hidden gem! It’s a heavenly getaway for anyone wanting to relax in a comfortable room by the sea with an outstanding view. The private porches with hammocks are a lovely way to relax. The food at the restaurant is delicious (especially the green ceviche!) and they will bring meals or drinks right to you. The staff could not be more accommodating. Fantastic getaway!

The room was very cozy and made us feel like we were part of the movie encanto. Don't expect a modern style and you are going to be very pleased. The mattress is firm but comfy. They have a snall pool and the cutest cat that slept on our balcony almost daily. The restaurants around aren't open super late, but very good. We enjoyed our 2 nights very much before heading to our all inclusive on the mainland.

They are on the Ocean and have the best views, staff is friendly, and the property gives the old Mexican charm.Good for Insta Posts! Its a nice place but needs upgrades, we were for a night so could manage but in our room, the toilet door was faulty, TV was not working.

Small vintage resort with amazing views and attentive friendly staff. Comfortable and close to great restaurants and activities. We snorkeled every morning from the beach below. However if you’re not able to climb uneven rocky stairs beware. It’s part of the charm but it’s a workout. Some loud noise from hotel renovation and boat partiers. Overall a lovely place. Fair prices. I would happily return.

Loved our stay at this quaint and quiet property. The staff is VERY helpful, friendly and service oriented. Miguel was amazing, works really hard, and was always offering to do things for us. The manager was always checking with us to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We will be back!

El Hotel es una belleza y la vista es espectacular. Las habitaciones estan muy bien. Lo único realmente lamentable del hotel es la chica argentina encargada del depto de alimentos y bebidas. En verdad no sé qué hace alli. Su trato es totalmente falto de la mínima cortesía, amabilidad y servicio que se requiere para estar en un puesto de trato al cliente. Hay mucha gente amable y servicial en esta zona. Y que estaría muy agradecida de trabajar en un lugar tan paradisiaco. Por qué tener a alguien tóxico? Realmente no entiendo. Es lo único que me frena a regresar. Espero tomen cartas en el asunto. Por otro lado, Osvaldo el gerente, se lleva un diez y de alguna manera “compensa” la otra parte. Saludos.

The staff was always very friendly and helpful. The property was quiet and beautiful. Would definitely recommend if you want a quiet getaway. Multiple restaurant/bars within walking distance as well as convenient store. Area was safe, we never had any issues in our 5 days staying here. We will be returning.

Esta muy agradable el lugar, la vista esta muy padre, tienes acceso a una playa pública sin embargo no se llena mucho y el agua está cristalina! El personal muy atento y muy amable, al rededor no hay muchas opciones de restaurantes pero el lugar esta perfecto para alejarte del ruido y demás… Me agrado mucho mi estancia, volvería sin duda.

Very pretty and quaint property away from all the business of Playa Norte. Very close to punta sur, only a 10 minute walk. We came to relax and enjoy the beauty and this property delivered. It’s small and older but it’s beautiful and very charming. We would definitely return.

Nous étions très heureux d’être loins de la folie du Centro. Les personnes qui commentent au sujet du prix du taxi n’ont évidemment pas vérifié l’emplacement de leur hotel. Cet hôtel est petit et chaleureux, les couchers de soleil sont magnifiques, visibles directement du balcon. Le personnel était très serviable. Le lit est confortable. La piscine était toujours trop froide. Il serait judicieux d’offrir une affiche « ne pas déranger » pour éviter de vous faire réveiller par le ménage, nous avons eu quelques difficultés avec le débit faible de la douche. La plage n’est pas directement face à l’hôtel mais accessible à partir du bord, malheureusement il y a souvent des bateaux ancrés directement face à l’hôtel qui perturbent la quiétude du lieu.

I have mixed feelings about this property; the staff is fantastic. I don't have anything bad to say about the service. The hotel itself could have some improvement, I think I just had the bad luck of booking my stay so late that I ended up paying around 300 bucks the night, and that didn't feel worth it. The rooms are big enough and comfortable but at 300 bucks the night it felt that something was lacking. For future guests of this property, this hotel is located in the southeast part of the island; you'll need a taxi to go to the downtown area or Playa Norte, the best beach on the island. Bring bug spray because the mosquitos in the outdoors are terrible. This hotel has water filters so that was a good amenity, there is beach access, but it's very rocky so bring water shoes. The hotel is also close to Garrafon, where you can do snorkeling and Punta Sur where you can watch the sunrise.

We liked the property, the only thing I found odd was thy include a free continental breakfast which is coffee juice fruit bread..n yogurt..it’s more expensive on the menu than a traditional breakfast but thy don’t let choose ..I found that odd n wound up paying for the lower priced..

This hotel is a hidden gem! It’s a heavenly getaway for anyone wanting to relax in a comfortable room by the sea with an outstanding view. The private porches with hammocks are a lovely way to relax. The food at the restaurant is delicious (especially the green ceviche!) and they will bring meals or drinks right to you. The staff could not be more accommodating. Fantastic getaway!
