Nice hotel, front desk staff are exceptional and helpful. Rooftop bar staff are rude and slow and don't care if you're served. The breakfast is good but is disorganized with ine barista trying to serve hundreds.

Mama Shelter aims that guests feel nurtured, taken care of and inspired, yet I think there are some problems with the concept that I couldn't quite understand. No room service. They cannot deliver pizza from the restaurant down below although the QR code menus are presented within the room. Confusing. Pool/gym area needs to be booked in advance. (It felt like I was the only one showing up with an actual booking as families overcrowded the gym and pool) A critical note: The pool was the main reason I booked Mama Shelter, but was disappointed as it didn't give that "exclusive" feeling as advertised due to kids screaming and playing in the pool. As the area is indoors, there is a lot of echo and it gets noisier. An important heads-up for those considering booking here. Although I know this is not an adults-only hotel, I feel like kids should not be without parental control in the pool area, or some hours can be reserved for kids to make it more exclusive for other guests. A big plus: The staff working at the reception and at the rooftop bar are absolute professionals. Everything got handled quite well, they know. wheat they are doing. All in all, I enjoyed my stay, yet it was different than what I expected of the whole experience.

The property was lovely And for the most part staff was friendly and likable, but we chose it for the amenities which included the spa and pool. During our four day stay, we were only able to secure one single one hour slot for swimming at the pool. And there were so many children there In the tiny space that it was thoroughly unenjoyable.

Mama Shelter Roma was a great place to stay - right next to Cipro Metro which is easy to access the rest of the city and only a 10 minute walk from the Vatican Museum. The Hotel was clean and friendly. Pizza was fab, the menu of the Garden restaurant was a little lacking and a little disappointing. A little frustrated to find out you had to book a timing for the swimming pool and that all of the top deck was locked up for winter. Otherwise a great stay in a very affordable set up

The inside was very neat. However i am still unsure if this was a family hotel or love hotel. There were lots of kids but the lobby had a kinky toy box you could buy and the TV had XXX pages you could press when just trying to access the free movies. The A/C would not work half the time even after trying to bring someone to take a look it was either 19 c or 26 c. Room was smaller than expected but I liked how the tv could come out and the bathroom was a decent size the pool was neat but im still confused about the reserved times when everyone showed up at the same time anyways. My main downside was while it was very convienent to have underground parking there was netting to keep the pigeons out but all it did was lock them in so our car got covered in poop and there were multiple dead pigeons hanging from the netting. Hotel was clean besides parking garage, staff was friendly, dinner was great. Conveniently located close to Metro.

Great cafes nearby, right next to Cipro station, walking distance to Vatican and beyond. Rooms are small (medium mama) but practical and functional. Pool is a large bath, more than 6 people and it feels akward, steam room wasn’t working.

The breakfast buffet was pretty good. The prices for drinks up on the terrace were a trifle high IMO. We booked this hotel specifically for the pool so that our granddaughter could enjoy it, however, it was undergoing maintenance. They did upgrade our rooms, which was a nice touch.

This hotel is great value and really vibie. Staff were great beds where comfy and the decor was ace, my only notes would be that the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms made it hard to tempt my significant other out of bed in the morning. The other thing, and this was weird. If went to the main bar on floor one they would send you to the roof bar on the sixth floor and if you went to the roof bar they would send you too the main bar. We were there for four nights and this happened most days at least once.

The room was comfortable and very clean, and has free porn, lol, so no complaints there, but the public areas are very neglected. The pool, for example, was full of chipped/broken/missing tiles and the water was absolutely filthy. There were wet towels strewn about the place and some kind of brown something smeared on one of the handrails into the pool *shudders* for two days(!). The fact that you have to book a slot to use said pool, and gym, is very weird, as it's completely unmanned. Nobody seems to care about what goes on down there and when asking for towels, because they'd all been used, 30 minutes (half of our apparent time-slot) was wasted waiting for them. Another very weird thing is the restaurant/bar being roped off in the evenings. Staff can, but guests can't access them from the lobby like they can during the day and have to instead walk out of the hotel, around to the front and then go in, reversing the trip with whatever you've ordered to take to your room yourself, which in our case was a bottle of bubbles. We also had to use paper coffee cups as we weren't allowed glasses - go figure. The rooftop looks as though it was abandoned years ago, with stacks of chairs, dead plants, tarpaulin covering various parts, etc. and, finally, even just dealing with staff was a pain, as no-one seems to know anything or gives conflicting information. Everyone seems to ping-pong around with no real leadership in the place. A disappointing stay, but in a great location!

The smell in the bathroom was terrible, I couldn't sleep, the sheets in the bed were very itchy. I was very unconformable and after all my walking i was looking for a better place to rest.

Fijn hotel in de buurt van het Vaticaan. Op loopafstand van de metro dus je bent zo in het oude centrum. Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, fijne sfeer, prima ontbijt. Kamers zijn ruim en schoon. Fijne grote tv met gratis filmaanbod. Zwembad vraagt wat onderhoud (ontbrekende tegels, loszittende afvoerdeksel).

I stayed for 2 nights and was excited to enjoy the wellness area. I messaged ahead before booking to check that the steam room was working (after reading other reviews) and was assured it was. It wasn’t working and the hygiene in the wellness area is not up to standard. Only one toilet cubicle for women and only one towel offered meaning nobody was using towels in the sauna!! Except me. The area is also not staffed so there is no one to offer any assistance or service. My room was never serviced during a 2 night stay which is very disappointing at this price point. Next time I will stay in a boutique hotel in Trastevere or the historic centre. Reception staff were lovely though and are the redeeming quality of this hotel.

Hotel mal conservado. Segunda vez que fico no mesmo ano e a diferença foi absurda. Porta do banheiro quebrada, infiltração. Antes colocavam água e biscoitos diariamente, agora só água no início da estadia. Um mísero sabonete em barra que dizem ser shampoo, condicionador e sabonete. Café da manhã deu uma grande caída tanto no atendimento quanto na qualidade.

Service in the restaurants was just all over the place, not good. Cleaning in the room was not good, they did not clean the carpet and floor for 7 nights, also they did not put on clean bedding for 7 nights. I asked for extra mattress or bedding in the sofa bed 3 times, because it was so thin to sleep on, they did nothing for me. Then I ask for extra blanket so I could put under me, and they did come with that. On the photo it was to be 2 sinks in the bathroom, but it was only one. We put do not disturb on the door, but they still opened the door. So over all I was not pleased for the price you pay and what you get.

Hotel muito bom, porém faltou atenção aos detalhes: a cama de casal eram duas camas juntas, porém a junção entre elas era perceptível. Outros hotéis usam camas juntas e você não percebe. O chuveiro era bem fraco, esperávamos uma ducha boa pelo tamanho do chuveiro, porém a água caia apenas de um dos lados. Mas o hotel tem muito potencial.

Dit is een fantastisch hotel. Ruime, schone hotelkamer (we hadden de Mama Large). Prima bed. Ruime badkamer. We hebben heel erg goed gegeten in de restaurants. Het dakterras is een hartstikke mooie plek voor een drankje of diner. Fijn dat er een zwembad en Spa faciliteiten zijn. Ontbijt in een mooi gedecoreerde ontbijtzaal, enorm uitgebreid aanbod. Alle medewerkers zijn heel vriendelijk en gastvrij. Verzoeken worden direct beantwoord. De locatie is rustig, even buiten het centrum. Bus en metrohalte zijn vlakbij. Aanrader!
Dit is een fantastisch hotel. Ruime, schone hotelkamer (we hadden de Mama Large). Prima bed. Ruime badkamer. We hebben heel erg goed gegeten in de restaurants. Het dakterras is een hartstikke mooie plek voor een drankje of diner. Fijn dat er een zwembad en Spa faciliteiten zijn. Ontbijt in een mooi gedecoreerde ontbijtzaal, enorm uitgebreid aanbod. Alle medewerkers zijn heel vriendelijk en gastvrij. Verzoeken worden direct beantwoord. De locatie is rustig, even buiten het centrum. Bus en metrohalte zijn vlakbij. Aanrader!

Mama shelter was a very nice stay, in a quiet portion northwest of city center (about 3-4km away). The surrounding area was nice and had decent amount of local shops and cafes. Mamas is situated not even a block away from a 24hr grocery and only a block away from Cipro metro station. Made everything and traversing Roma easily accessible. The only downfall I experienced with my stay is the lobby and restaurants on the ground level play loud music until a about midnight or a little after-we were located on the first floor so we could hear everything. Nice stay otherwise!

This hotel is a mad house and completely understaffed. Everything required a long wait, we would return in the afternoon to a dirty room and have to request cleaning (despite having the sign on the door asking for cleaning). There is no room service, They told us to get food in boxes from the restaurant and take it to our room. The boxes arrived at 3 different times, the girl brought them out holding them sideways, by the time we got all the boxes and got to the room- the food was tossed around and there was apparently gelato in our fruit boxes which was completely melted and a massive mess- the boxes with pasta were soggy and gross. Reception takes forever with everything. When our flight was canceled, we called and asked to book another night- after an hour of not hearing back, I went down to reception- they called “reservations” and told us they were fully booked. I went back to the room and looked for a new hotel on Expedia and found Mama Shelter- with 4 different room types available!!!! Rebooked our same room type. Went down and told them and requested to stay in the same room to which I was told our room had a new guest arriving (it was 9am, check in is 3pm) I asked if they could simply change our rooms and the girl said she would check but can’t guarantee anything. This is SUPER SIMPLE! Went down an hour later after not hearing from them and checked with another girl who said, yes no problem. They are disorganized and slow.

Mama Shelter aims that guests feel nurtured, taken care of and inspired, yet I think there are some problems with the concept that I couldn't quite understand. No room service. They cannot deliver pizza from the restaurant down below although the QR code menus are presented within the room. Confusing. Pool/gym area needs to be booked in advance. (It felt like I was the only one showing up with an actual booking as families overcrowded the gym and pool) A critical note: The pool was the main reason I booked Mama Shelter, but was disappointed as it didn't give that "exclusive" feeling as advertised due to kids screaming and playing in the pool. As the area is indoors, there is a lot of echo and it gets noisier. An important heads-up for those considering booking here. Although I know this is not an adults-only hotel, I feel like kids should not be without parental control in the pool area, or some hours can be reserved for kids to make it more exclusive for other guests. A big plus: The staff working at the reception and at the rooftop bar are absolute professionals. Everything got handled quite well, they know. wheat they are doing. The rooms were clean and comfortable (albeit quite pricey overall) and location is in a lovely residential neighbourhood with food options plus within walking distance to the Vatican. However we knocked off a star because the professionalism and level of service from the reception staff left much to be desired. Most of the front desk staff seemed to be trainees who needed a lot of guidance from the more experienced staff at handling basic admin tasks. There were also two false fire alarms that were activated during our stay - the second alarm was activated at around 1am and people left their rooms only to be told it was a false alarm, however no apology was ever given by the hotel or staff for this. We had also told the reception twice about booking an airport transfer for us, and they assured that it was all taken care of. On the day of our flight, we were told by a trainee staff that no booking was made or listed on record, and we had to ask them to book us a taxi on short notice - again no apology was given nor any explanation offered as to how such a booking could go missing. The staff didn’t seem the least concerned to check or ensure a proper handover is done when they change shifts. Finally, do keep in mind that complimentary water is only provided for the first night - it is otherwise chargeable at £2.50 per bottle, although for a hotel it should be provided complimentary for all nights of the stay or at least 2 free bottles a night given this is peak summer season.

The staff was super friendly and made sure they were able to accommodate guests. The were busy at the front desk when we checked-in and when we checked-out. They made accommodations to ensure that our room was thoroughly cleaned because of my respiratory conditions. During our five day stay I did not have a flare up being in the room at all. I really appreciated that, thank you Mama Shelter Roma! Be advised that if you want to have dinner on the rooftop of the hotel, you have to make reservations or you won’t be able to enjoy the atmosphere. I wish this would’ve been told to us at our check-in. But this is why the reviews are available, so you have an idea of what to anticipate. Mama Shelter Roma was a great place to stay - right next to Cipro Metro which is easy to access the rest of the city and only a 10 minute walk from the Vatican Museum. The Hotel was clean and friendly. Pizza was fab, the menu of the Garden restaurant was a little lacking and a little disappointing. A little frustrated to find out you had to book a timing for the swimming pool and that all of the top deck was locked up for winter. Otherwise a great stay in a very affordable set up

Hotel was lovely and new. Staff friendly. Amazing restaurant and always packed roof top garden. I strongly recommend their pizza/pasta! Breakfast is mainly sweet pastry and cold cuts. They have their own interpretation of English breakfast too. Overall a very good stay. Hotel is super close to metro but it was on a slope so it requires some effort during the hot summer days. Close to the Vatican. Also close to a 24h supermarket and local shops.

Not really close to tourist attractions but the easily accessible train and bus, made it a breeze. Nice rooftop too! The surrounding area was a little bit of an eyesore but it was safe nonetheless. It’s obvious that neighborhood is Rome is in the midst of gentrification.

We really enjoyed our stay at Mama Shelter Roma. It was very easy to walk a few blocks to the train station and make our way out to many other points of interest. Also Mama Shelter has the best pizza hands down!!! And an awesome staff!!!

The main reason to recommend Mama Shelter is their beds. Extremely comfortable! Nice vibe overall. Good plentiful breakfast and very good drinks/food choices for dinner. An excellent hotel! The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. A real boost of confidence having never been to Rome and not speaking Italian. The neighbourhood felt entirely safe with grocery stores and a Metro stop very close by. While not in the heart of tourist Rome we actually preferred it, it wasn't insanely crowded like the Vatican or other popular tourist areas. We walked most everywhere anyway. The room wasn't huge, and there wasn't any storage furniture, no dresser or anything, but there was a large bathroom. A safe, mini fridge, large windows that opened, to a degree. A lovely rooftop patio with a great nighttime view, a small pool and sauna. The steam room was closed for the duration of our nine night stay. We only had one meal at the hotel, wasn't great. Some of the best food I've ever had was in Rome, but this to my mind was sub par. The staff took forever to serve us, even water, felt like the younger serving staff didn't care at all. Maybe it was just bad luck, I suspect this wasn't the norm, but we didn't go again. Seemed a little tailored to a tourist crowd that didn't know any better. But in fairness we only tried it once. But in the end that didn't matter much, there are no shortage of amazing dining experiences to be had (it is Rome after all) and was more than made up for by the quality of the room and the amazing service of the desk staff. We would happily stay there again. Thank you Mama!

While not in the heart of tourist Rome we actually preferred it, it wasn't insanely crowded like the Vatican or other popular tourist areas. We walked most everywhere anyway. The room wasn't huge, and there wasn't any storage furniture, no dresser or anything, but there was a large bathroom. A safe, mini fridge, large windows that opened, to a degree. A lovely rooftop patio with a great nighttime view, a small pool and sauna. The steam room was closed for the duration of our nine night stay. We only had one meal at the hotel, wasn't great. Some of the best food I've ever had was in Rome, but this to my mind was sub par. The staff took forever to serve us, even water, felt like the younger serving staff didn't care at all. Maybe it was just bad luck, I suspect this wasn't the norm, but we didn't go again. Seemed a little tailored to a tourist crowd that didn't know any better. But in fairness we only tried it once. But in the end that didn't matter much, there are no shortage of amazing dining experiences to be had (it is Rome after all) and was more than made up for by the quality of the room and the amazing service of the desk staff. We would happily stay there again. Thank you Mama!

Our stay was really good! We'd love it if there was an access to iron and ironing board in our room, but we can live without it. The only thing that we did not like was the booking system for Gym and Pool facilities. Either get rid of it, or if people book it, save it for them. But having to book a slot and then go in to find that the pool and sauna are full, was not the best experience. However, I would 100% recommend staying there, the location is good and easy to access, the staff was wonderful and the hotel was lovely.

Location is great. Cleanliness was good, However basics like Tea bags for the room etc provided only on day 1 and charged for other days. Some breakfast catering staff did not seem welcoming even though the charge is quite high for the items offered .
