University Park Inn & Suites, an Ascend Collection Hotel

I booked a room here for my family so we wouldn't have to drive to an early morning event. Our room was in a part of the hotel that looked out of service. No walkway lights and totally dark. We called and asked for the lights to be turned on so it wasn't such a creepy experience and nothing was done. The walls were so thin that you could hear everything happening in the room next door. They were partying into the early hours of the morning. We called the front to complain about the disturbance of peace numerous times but nothing was done. Eventually I knocked on the door to ask them to keep it down. The beds and pillows were awful. All in all it was one of the worse nights of sleep in my life and I regret staying here. Would not recommend.

The room was great and beds were very comfortable. The front desk staff was very kind. The location is great, super close to the arboretum as a walkway to UC Davis. The only issue: they put us in the very back section of the hotel, which was the only part of the hotel with no outdoor lights. They have put new recessed lighting in the section right next to it, but they haven't even changed a bulb in the one large fixture that exists. I don't mind that is just a motor lodge, but the old "Davis Motel" sign in the corner of the parking lot gives of a creepy vibe and then they put me as a solo woman with my kid in this dark section. Weird.

Just a bit odd. Right next to train, not next to any food or restaurants. Loud but weirdly quiet.
