Hotel was clean but older shabby. Pillows were terrible. Room was very tight and beds were full not queen for double bed rooms. Staff was helpful and friendly. Off season availability of food or other services very low. Heat was fine. Would likely not stay again if a better option was available. Pool was in a separate building so too hard to access for us. Parking is very spread out. Beautiful location but road in and out was very pitted and flooded. Bakery in town had good food.

Hotel is extremely dated and you are issued actual keys for your room. Our room had no secondary lock or peephole on the door. The lock could have been easily picked by a child. Also there is no lock to keep people from accessing the hotel hallway from the outside. In addition, there are no elevators to access the second and third floor rooms which is clearly an ADA violation. One of the worst hotels I’ve ever been to.

A lovely view of the St Lawrence and Boldt Castle. Desk was friendly and helpful. Outdoor pool was awesome as was the indoor pool and jacuzzi. They did close the restaurants the night we were there which at first seemed disappointing, but the walk to town where shops and restaurants were was only 9 minutes!

It is a little outdated ,we were on 3 rd floor no elevator! The Restaurant I would not recommend. Need organization. Bar tender amazing, our server, train her. We were handed menu and told to seat ourselves, The wait for everything was long. Never came back to check. Asked for dressing never came. It was not a pleasant experience. My Scampi was buttery no flavor Restaurants in town so much better. The staff at the hotel itself are amazing.

The parking lot wasn't well lit in areas. Definitely a unique layout for the space. Would recommend updated lock features. Haven't been to a hotel in decades that uses a key anymore. Overall, very clean, though oddly the hallway to our room and even the room itself for a bit had an odd odor best described as wet cigarette smoke. it did seem to eventually go away, or we went nose blind to it at least. Overall, for the stay and view it was very enjoyable.

For the price of a nights stay, you’d think they would invest some more money into the hotel! Rooms were clean, but old and outdated. Just as outdated as the grounds surrounding it! The restaurant was understaffed. The grounds yet again were in need of some TLC!

We just got home from our weekend away. We booked a king jacuzzi suite with a balcony. I was very disappointed with the hotel. It is tired and outdated but I can handle that. That wouldn’t have bothered me. What bothered me was that I paid $300 a night for a room that had spiders and cobwebs all over it. The room needed a good cleaning or atleast someone to wipe down the walls. There are not many photos when I booked so I had a feeling something was off. Also I paid good money for a patio or balcony and had every intention of sitting out there enjoying the view. Wayyy too many bugs and well I attached a photo of our view. I know by the lake we should expect bugs but it just needs a good cleaning and maybe an exterminator? The one positive is the location. Most of the major attractions are about a five minute walk. Next time will definitely be booking elsewhere.

Nice location, which made it easy to walk wherever we wanted to go. Great staff at the front desk. However, the room had many bugs and smelled like urine. The indoor pool could be a nice place but again, bugs both dead and alive lined the window sills and there is definitely a carpenter ant or termite problem because wood shavings could be found all over. It's as if the pool room never gets cleaned, swept or mopped. The floors were filthy. It was disappointing. For $300 a night there's not even breakfast, only coffee and tea. A little pricey for what you really get here. I've definitely paid less elsewhere and gotten more. It's a shame. This could be a premiere property if a little time was spent on it to clean it up and get an exterminator.

Don’t let the run down looking outside of this hotel throw you off. Yes, it’s old but it’s also clean and comfortable. We stayed in a standard room with two double beds. And it was only for 1 night. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

The hotel is extremely dated, there was mold in the bathroom and there were numerous ants crawling along one of the bed side tables. The rooms also did not have a dead bolt lock, just a standard lock on the doorknob which made me feel incredibly unsafe. Overall, I did not think the hotel matched the description on Expedia and I would not return to this property.

We stayed one night in room 209. The room had a horrible smell of mildew. A lot of areas in the room were dirty, dusty, rusty, stained, or broken. We had the only room without a porch or balcony. There was a cigarette butt container right outside our room which meant smoke was wafting in through our AC unit. The are at night is very poorly lit which made walking unsafe for families. It was a very unfortunate stay for us with our child.

We walked into the room & it smelled very musty. It was very small, so small that the chair that belonged to the desk was off to the side against the wall instead of under the desk. The doors did not have a second lock on them, such as a chain or bolt. When we checked in I asked if they we were on the River & was told not with the standard room that we booked. So, if you go there be sure to ask for a riverside room to be on the River. We went to one of the restaurants there and waited for over an hour for our food, which wasn’t the best. I had the sliders, which I asked to be well done, and they were rare. My husband had the chicken Caesar wrap and he said it was very dry, like there was barely any dressing on it. The only nice thing about it was the view. Not once while we were waiting did the waiter stop by to advise us of the hold up on our meal.

The walls are super thin: we could hear the TV and the baby next door to us. And the wifi was practically not particularly reliable. Parking was a gamble, especially on Saturday. But the place had great character, we were very comfortable in the king bed, and the giant bathtub was a treat! We had dinner one night at the Pointe Bar & Grill, which was wonderful: amazing views, excellent service, and tasty food. It was also an easy walk into town and to the dock where we caught the boat to Boldt Castle. As long as you're prepared for a rustic stay that's, Bonnie Castle is the place for you!

Me and my Thai friends were treated like garbage by the front desk staff on June 20,2025 around 430-5pm. Your staff member claimed she couldn't find our reservation when we told her our names. When it took us a moment to look up the reservation on our phones the elderly white woman yelled at us telling us to spell our names and when we laughed nervously she yelled at us that it is not funny. She was very rude and racist. Instead of politely asking us to spell our Thai names she berated us like we weren’t human beings deserving of respect. I’d advise all non-white travelers to stay clear of this hotel and spend your money elsewhere.

Our stay was nice and quiet and comfortable. Staff person was very pleasant and helpful. She offered if we needed anything more to let her know. If we are up that way again or someone asks, we will recommend Bonnie Castle resort to stay at.

Once I was able to actually get into my room things were ok. Check in time says 3pm... So I drive 6 hours from home and get there at 430pm to be told that my room isnt ready and to come back later. How wonderful to go to dinner in clothes I had been wearing for 6 hours while driving on an 85 degree day.

Well maintained motel in attractive location opposite Boldt Castle in Lake Ontario. Nice big outdoor pool. Can walk to the restaurants of Alexandria Bay. Be aware that they sometimes have motorcycle groups staying there ( noisy engines). Easy access to Canada via nearby 24/7 border crossing.

Property was probably nice when it opened, probably decades ago. Expedia said the property had a restaurant that was open 7 days a week. We arrived on a Sunday and were told restaurant was only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On the other hand, room was clean, comfortable and well kept.

Please reconsider staying here at all costs. It is like a boat graveyard from 1979. The only thing it has going for them is a sort of pier to have a beer with a view. It is sooo dated. Hotels.com advertises a continental breakfast, no such thing. Coffee urns in the lobby and I use that term loosely. Absolutely NO cancellation unless seven days in advance. Once you book they have you. Also they add a $4.00 charge per day for maid service. Not in fine print. Trust me….it’s bad

The staff and location were wonderful. We were scared when we walked into the Manor Restaurant because literally no one was there on a Saturday night - we had a wonderful dinner overlooking Boldt Castle. The prime rib was excellent! The hotel and property have not had an update since probably the 1970’s but it was clean.

We did the upgrade for a room with a balcony facing the river, the view was beautiful, the balcony was super small, to the point that my husband could not sit facing the water, he had to turn sideways. The resort is dated but clean for the most part. The service was mixed, The Pointe was good, The Manor was terrible and they weren’t even busy. It was convenient to the boat tours and shops.

This property has declined severely over the years. Very disappointing. On-site restaurant is also a miss. Our poor waitress seemed to be the only person doing anything, waiting on every table. She had no support and took us 2.25 hours to complete our meal. Feel terrible for the staff trying to satisfy customers when it doesn’t seem like they are getting any support.

Our stay was for a bachelorette party. The check in was confusing. The Hotel charged my card as soon as they received my booking reservation, almost 2 months in advance almost $1500.00. They explained that was their policy ?? not a huge deal but unexpected. Kind of disappointed that they did not have breakfast available on premises in restaurant, the restaurant was for dinner only......again not a big deal.
