Hotel Chez Swann

Loved the central location walkable, staff topnotch. Be advised no parking available, parking is very expensive.

Gym not working and wi-fi which didn't work either. Not efficient to work with. Soundproofing with the street not very good.

Loved the espresso machine in room. Great room. Some of the sheets and pillow cases were very rough. There is NO RESTAURANT. No ice machine

We .family of four, stayed here for three days in the month of July 2023. Paid parking is in the other property beside this place. Likes: 1) Room is very spacious and bathroom is very nice. 2) Beds , linens and towels are clean. 3) Staff courtesy. 4) Break fast is not continental but I liked what they have. 5) Proximity of major landmarks. Not Likes: 1) we were in the third floor and the room has massive sky light right above the beds. By 5:30 am the room used to look super bright. So my advise is never stay in the third floor in this hotel if you intend to sleep a little more. 2) Elevator never worked through out my stay , I had a injury on the leg and I had a bit of tough time going up and down through steps. 3) Security cards never worked more than a day so you have to renew them everyday, not a big deal though. 4) Since security cards and elevator is not working , the door to the steps is left wide open and the restaurant kitchen smell was every where in the hall ways of every floor. 5) The building has odd smell with or with out the first floor kitchen smell

Parking difficult and expensive

We love the rooms at Chez Swann! While this location lacks the amenities of other hotels in its category, it makes up for that in comfort and style. Unique furnishings & fixtures, and location are pluses for us. Only downside is the breakfast. Their website indicates a Continental breakfast with French pastries; you expext French pastries at a classy boutique hotel to be high quality. These were not that. I know what they say about expectations, but in all honesty making arrangments for a local bakey to deliver quality Quebec style bakery products could easily be absorbed by the repeat bookings that would garner. Its silly, but factul, when you offer something "free" people will judge that offering most harshly. Swann I promise you, fresh proper croissants and bagles would be a small investment that garners you big rewards.

Definitely not a great place. Cleanliness was not great, dirty and dusty floors, hair in the sink, the trays were soaps and shampoo were displayed were full of toothpaste stains. The worse was the water pressure. I asked about it and they sent a gentleman that scraped calcium deposits from the sink spout which fixed the issue there but could not fix the pressure in the shower. There was barely enough water coming out of the shower head to get wet. He just gave me towels and left. They didn’t offer any solution like switching rooms or anything. The only upside of the place is the location.

The hotel is old. Capets in hallway worn, wrinkled. Room floors creeky and painted black. Towels had holes in them. Stain on comforter. Walls in bathroom by toilet dirty. No water pressure could barely shower, could not wash hair. Check in was efficient came in very late very tired. Staff were friendly and professional. Would have gone elsewhere but hotels full for concert.

On sent que la chambre a manqué de maintenance. Moisissures sur le rideau du puit de lumière, peinture manquante à coté du module d’air climatisé et module de lampe manquante et le trou non refermé.

The room was nice , a couple of issues. , I noted to front desk staff next day after our arrival , that there was a sock (not ours) underneath the wardrobe. It was never removed.! I also asked that the shower gel be refilled , as it had been emptied.(just enough in it for my shower.) again it was not refilled! Coffee pods were not replaced..

The room was really cool. It was clean and the staff were great. Would go back.

Bedroom and bathroom were updated and super clean, the breakfast room was comfortable and the breakfast itself was so good and complete. A hidden gem downtown.

The Hotel was clean, staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast provided had a variety of options (both healthy and delicious), and the location was very good - within walking distance of the main shopping strip, Metro and Via Rail station. Thank you!

The wifi didn’t work for our entire stay. The room was nice but lacking in amenities such as washcloths, tissues etc. Breakfast was fine but they ran out of some products which weren’t replaced

Lots to love here including location and excellent service. Two negatives - super creaky floors both in the room and the room above us as well as light water pressure in the shower. Included breakfast was nothing special by any means.

Great location and fun rooms but not a lot of space to hang your clothes. Not fun having to live out of a suitcase for a week.

Loved the decor, the location. Some super cool design like the curtained double shower! Loved the settee furniture. Very spacious room. Friendly bilingual staff. Only think is that the water pressure isn't great. Not terrible, but could be better. Also, definitely need to upgrade the Wi-Fi. Not really good enough for a live Zoom meeting, so not great for a business traveler.

The rooms were unexpectedly unique. The were quite large. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Please have your check in times updates so the room actually being ready coincides with that time. Your guests should not have to go away for an hour to await room readiness. Many of us are tired and have come from far.

Some hotel staff are helpful some are not. Is not a 4 star is a cosy hotel in a good location. Try to avoid the rooms 304, 303 etc facing the main road. Simply you will not get any sleep. Breakfast is very basic and the quality of the products offer not the best.

It was overall a 4/10 experience. We stayed for 2 days but our rooms were not cleaned for whole 2 days also the lady at the receptionist refused us to provide water bottles and stated the hotel doesn’t provide water bottles. But on the similar day at night the guy at the receptionist provided us with water bottles when we requested. Overall customer service was pathetic

The good: The room is large and spacious, simply decorated. There is a skylight that really lights up the room with a nice light duribg the day. The bathroom is also quite large and well lit. Also the shower is very large with full body showers. The bad: The service: this is somewhat of a 50/50 split. When we first arrived, we were a couple hours early of the 3pm check in time, however, most hotels will check, and if you're room is ready they will check you in early. We were hoping for this situation since we were needing a place to change to go to a funeral. The person behind the desk did not even look to see if our room was ready, just staying the 3pm check in policy. When we asked if there was a washroom to get changed in, he said there was no washroom on the ground floor. The parking: The street that the hotel is on is a parking nightmare. There are only 2 spots outside of the hotel to check in and the only parking nearby is behind you on a 1 way street in the underground garage that is part of a different hotel. You will still need to walk outside to get to chez swann if you park here. The AC: The AC is not left on between visitors, so our room was 29C when we came in, after 8 hours it was only down to 21, after 14H it did not have the power to drop below 19C, so if you like cold rooms for sleeping, not great (it was only May). The skylight: although beautiful duribg the day, if you like a dark room at night for sleeping, not great.If i had more room I would saymore

The location was perfect as we were going to the Bell Centre for a concert. The room and hotel were very clean. We arrived early to check out where the hotel was and find out where to park. We did not ask to check in as the room was not ready but when we asked to use an available washroom we were told we couldn't use the restaurant bathroom unless we ordered something... seriously? We just drove 3 hours and had paid for a room.

Very convenient location. Can walk to Old Montreal in 20 mins and right at zst Catherine. Will definitely come back again.

Very good location, short distance walking to most of downtown interesting sites, brand stores and terrasses or restaurants. Good breakfast already included, ready to go in the morning. Nice and very clean rooms. Don’t pay attention to the outside look, inside is worth it.

Great chic rooms with hige shower. But noisy due to being over a restaurant/nightclub.

We went to a Habs game and hotel was close and convenient. Also, close to where on and off bus was located.

Great location to attractions and restaurants

It’s my go to place when I need to be in Montreal—super location near the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and close to the Museum of Contemporary Art!

The only issue is that second floor rooms are loud at night due to the bar below the hotel making it hard to sleep. Otherwise, it was a decent stay!

Mixed feelings about Chez Swann. First the room. I booked a suite and it was spectacular. Huge. whimsically decorated, fun, romantic and functional. Love the bathrobes and individual toiletries Next the location : just as great. You’re in the heart of downtown. Amazing. On the downside, building upkeep is not the best, they could provide more amenities such as bottled water, a kettle etc. But the worst was the breakfast which was included. Very very low end except for the French breakfast pastries that were awesome. The rest was toast, cereal, fruit cups, yogurt. Bare minimum. No effort. So disappointing come soldering how much care and attention went into designing the rooms Will probably return for the location and the suite. But would rather go to McD for breakfast

Great walkable location to the downtown core shopping centers. Room was spacious, bed comfortable and clean. Only cosmetic issue was the dirty/stained curtain on the skylight and one exposed ceiling lamp cover. Staff were friendly & helpful. Great to have a good continental breakfast included in our stay.
