Downtown San Diego Lodge

Beds were comfortable. Very few parking and the parking spaces too small. Spiders on the ceiling(4), Hair from people that stay there before in the tub and sink, and also dirty splash’s mirror. The microwave and fridge were nasty in the inside!

The hotel is situated right at the exit and entrance to the freeways which is challenging for ingress and egress and can get loud (traffic) an lots of homeless people in the area as well. Location is a good walk for getting to Little Italy and the Pier. The room was exactly what you need to get a good rest and sleep. Nothing fancy, very unfussy lodgings. This place minor updates,nothing impressive,what i call a lipstick update. Good clean, bathroom, bedroom, and bedding. Beware! This property does not have an ice machine nor vending machine on site. The front desk suggested I walk across to the gas station a block away to get what I needed. I was unaware of this before I booked. Also no coffee machines in the room. Urgh!!! Lastly, the parking lot is small and in an effort to accommodate all guests vehicles cars were double parked bumper to bumper. Urgh! I was not able to back out and leave at my convenience. I had to go to the front office, report the car number that I was blocked in by, and let the front desk know that I needed to exit. Then I had to wait for front desk to contact the car owner as well as wait for car owner to come move their car. This took about an extra 30+ minutes from the time I walked down to my car with luggage to leave. Very inconvenient for lodging we will stay away from this lodge. Not priced right.

Stay is near downtown SD areas. Only downside is parking in best major freeway exit!

Hotel is located at the end of a freeway exit ramp so there is quite a bit of traffic that results in considerable noise and a difficulty backing out of the parking spaces. Note that parking spaces are tandem, so someone may block you in. In which case you must walk to the office and have them call that person to move their car. Quite inconvenient.

It ok but no much packing for visiting

Good value for money. A little disappointed with having to pay extra parking for an RV but it was a larger one. Otherwise as expected and convenient.

The hotel was ok and room was a good size and clean. The area around was dirty and lots of homeless. The parking is free but not guaranteed and very limited. If are looking for a good price and close enough to uber this will work. We wont stay here again due to the area and parking situation.

The front picture of the property is very misleading. This picture is not close to where this hotel is, or near Little Italy. Pros: Our room was pretty big but the tv was too small. Lobby guy was super nice. Cons: There is very limited parking spaces, which we ended up having to pay next door which sucked. The floors in the room were really dirty. No elevator

Parking limited. The room latch was missing in the first room that had no carpet. Transferred to second room that appeared to have been used. One of the wash cloth was strewn over by the sink and appeared to have been used. The peep hole had a was of tissue stinking out of it from a previous guest. Parking limited. Homeless people loitering on property ground Sign says no smoking within 25 feet of building. Other guest smoking at the steps in front of office and had to walk thru the smoke to get to my room.

The bad reviews are unfortunately true. The room looked nothing like the photos. Hairs found on both the beds and in the shower. Horrible stay. Just pay the extra money go somewhere else. Complete waste of money.

The room was not clean, there was black hair all over the shower. this was not exactly what I intended for my stay. The pictures were very misleading.

Stained towels, burns in the sheets, ants, hair all over the room, door wasn’t sealed properly and other bugs getting in the room. Nothing seemed to be wiped down clean. Do not recommend this to anyone.

This is not the place for comfort, family or sanitation and health safety. The location and parking not the best. Its appearance is questionable. The hotel room we stayed at was dirty, black mold in the shower. Water damage. There was tape over the smoke detector. The curtains and window was super dirty. Burnt holes in the blankets and questionable markings in the walls. The latch to lock for extra security was broken. But what was worse of all was the people above us were making so much noise as if they kept pacing back and forth all night from 10pm till we left the room at 6am! The only thing positive was the lady at the front desk. She was very welcoming and sweet.

Old sheets bed dirty restroom ant crawling in the shower bath is not a place to be advertised in Expedia for your customers.

Room was dirty, our sheets were stained so we asked them to change them which resulted in them not cleaning our room for 2 days. We understand you get what you paid for but as we were going to be out all day all we expected were clean sheets and a clean room and didn’t even receive that.

Do not book here! These photos are so out of date. It looks nothing like the pictures. The room was absolutely disgusting and we couldn’t even get a refund to go somewhere else. There was hair everywhere, the floors were sticky and it’s so run down. There were holes in our sheets and blankets. When asked to get fresh sheets and towels, the said “well housekeeping left so I can’t do anything”. Ruined our weekend getaway. We felt so gross even after showering in the morning. This place will be getting reported to the health department. Not to mention the blood stain we found on the curtains. I think we would’ve been better off sleeping at the homeless encampment next door.

It's a nice enough Motel-like place, facilities are surprisingly new and you get a fridge microwave. The water pressure is pretty bad though.

The stay was good and comfortable. Although the wifi was extremely slow.

The pics of the building and room make it look nicer than it is than what you actually get The noise from the street is pretty loud in the room, the door to the room doesn’t seem safe, the building hallways are very dated looking, and my bathroom had a torn shower curtain.

Paid $90. You get what you pay for. Property needs a little updating, new towels and blankets. There was an odd smell in the room. Walls and ceiling are paper thin. We could hear every move the person above us made. Can hear the cars/freeways around.

Staff was very courteous and room was clean but dated. The biggest problem is the noise all night long. Very very noisy street traffic with an off ramp and an on ramp for I-5 & I-163. But the price was very low compared to other hotels.

I was killing a few days and wanted to be close to downtown. This hotel is right on the corner of downtown but sandwiched between two freeway exits. Very loud, 24/7 unfortunately. Walkable but this corner of downtown sees more tent cities pop up at night too. Staff were nice, the hotel is aged but some minor upgrades have been made to the rooms.

The Lodge is right off the 163 fwy exit, so it is VERY noisy. The room was clean, but the sheets felt very old and worn. We had to use a blanket from our car because there wasn’t one on the bed, or extra in the closet. The towels were stained.

For the price, this place was great. Nice friendly staff and clean room.

This place deserves ZERO STARS. Not only is it a dump that smells like someone farted in a trash bag and lit it on fire. It doesn’t offer room service or have vending or ice machines. When I confronted the office about it he told me go walk to the gas station and buy ice. Okay that’s fine I’ll do that. They only sell 10lb bags of ice! As a worker he should have known that why are you sending guest to go buy a 10 pound bag of ice when we don’t have a freezer ! Parking is limited but I managed to get a spot that they said was secure. He said we have a camera monitoring it. However after I had to walk to McDonald’s to find ice I came back and two people were literally smoking from a crack pipe in the parking lot and he said it’s okay they only smoke they don’t mess with the cars. When I went to check out a day early because nothing was as advertised when I booked he said sorry non refundable. I was willing to pay for the one day we slept in the horrid place. But he ended up yelling at me calling me a bi tch for asking for a refund and then called me more names and told me to f-off off. I disputed the whole stay and got my money back.

Multiple issue with the check-in process, hotel conditions and everything that was advertised did not match up with what we check-in to. I feel extremely uncomfortable with this stay but I cannot cancel the stay without a refund. So i am force to stay. Front desk absolutely was not understanding even though they saw how uncomfortable i am to stay here. Expedia was limited with what they can do to help me. I might as well be sleeping in my car tonight instead.

The staff are terrible they didn’t even give me a card key they said something wrong with the chip just to make contact with them to open the door notice someone already check in on my reservation with a different name that’s why they can’t provide or give me a card the staff is trying to make there money on the side or something is going on and I’m already tired no time to argue I just let it fast. They need a new staff here for sure

I would stay here again. The night staff was very friendly and helpful. We were driving over 8 hours and hit crazy traffice but I called and let them know that I would be there after midnight and they were very accomdating. I called a second time because I accidently put wrong address in the gps and they were very kind helping me figure the problem. Once, I got to check in at 12:30 I was greeted by a smiley friendly face. The room was great.

I was put in a completely different room and the keycard failed 3 times

Invest more and get yourself a better place. The reception girl was rude during check in and also the guy at night. It was dirty it smelled it was scary. Just invest and stay somewhere else

The clerk at the front desk was friendly

Front desk agent that worked at 8pm , was an absolute gem! She was funny , quick, efficient , so happy !!!, energetic , an absolute bundle of joy which made our moods elevate ! What an incredibly easy fast and fantastic check in!!! We absolutely loved her . Thank you to whom ever hired and put her there , you did an outstanding job at picking who’s at the front of the house!

Good price and the staff is excellent.

This is the most economical place to stay near the Gaslamp area. We loved the walkability. Yes, there are quite a few sketchy areas around the hotel but the hotel itself felt clean and safe. We walked to a cool coffee shop each morning. We walked to PETCO park for a Padres game. We were able to find great places to eat nearby. Not only is the gaslamp area very close, little italy is within walking distance too. I've stayed here a couple times when in the area. Would stay here again.

difficult to be more centralized in San Diego than this lodge. Will be back.

It was a last moment booking for ComiCon - you can wlak to the convention center.

The outside of the property is awful. Transients everywhere. The parking lot was clean. The staff was very friendly. They gave us a "quiet" room. It was anything but that. The traffic noise is horrible. The room itself was super clean but very! basic. I wanted a cup of coffee at 6 am so went to the front desk and was told to wait 30 minutes. When i went back there was a half dead 7" rat outside the lobby door. If you want something close to lamplight district and dont mind walking past 4 blocks of tents and trash..we checked out a day early and left after one horrible night

The place was good for spending one night. The bed was comfortable. However, I would look it up on Google Maps prior to making a reservation. We were expecting to be able to walk to and from Petco Park, but after the game we took a Lyft, as the amount of homeless people in the area made us feel unsafe at night.

This is typical lodge in a big city center. Close to MTS, but the walk may be on the dangerous side as there were/are a lot of individuals temporarily experience homelessness on the streets. However, the property appeared to be safe, secure and clean. The front office personnel was friendly and available. Security was on par. Room was relatively clean and habitable. First night was a bit noisy from the neighbors having a party. However, overall no complains for the class of the lodging property this is.

Stay away from this hotel…it is A SCAM..Pictures and description are not accurate…the hotel is located in an unsafe area right next to the expressway…room was filthy and appliances were broken.

The staff could me more friendly, welcoming theirs guess. No other bathrooms except in the rooms no Continental breakfast. It felt like a dead place to relax and enjoy… If you looking for a quick room to get in and get out, I guest it’ll be OK

The best thing about this hotel was that it was within walking distance of balboa park. The door didn't fit in the doorframe, big gap. Towels like sand paper. Skimpy blanket. We were actually cold at night. No in room coffee, not even a glass in the bathroom. Not a particularly good area either. Noisy.

The location has traffic noise but is within walking distance of downtown restaurants and hotels/conference centers, which is a big plus. It doesn't serve breakfast, but offers free coffee in the lobby, which was much appreciated. There is a gas station on the next corner which has food items for sale. A small point: there weren't any soap dishes, so I had to put soap down directly on the counter or the edge of the bathtub.

Scam. Its horrible no parking, small, it smelled like mold, no ice machine, you can hear everything through the walls. Never staying again dont recommend. Oh there is a creepy door thats locked in the room instayed in, on the side a little foom with tiny windows supposably storage.
