The Alexander Mansion was our first experience at a Bed and Breakfast and it was absolutely fabulous. Richard made us feel very welcomed and is charming and wonderful host. Upon our arrival, he provided us with fine wine while enlightening us with a tour and the history of the mansion and the area. We were in awe with the beautiful historical decor in the mansion. Richard served an awesome five course breakfast while we enjoyed the company of the other quests. Thank you Richard for sharing your beautiful home with us. Our 1st B&B experience was above and beyond our expectations and was a truly wonderful experience. We hope to return again next year.

The mansion is a very old an historically significant piece of property in both Winona and Minnesota. The owner, Richard, is a very gracious host and wonderful cook. Our lower level "basement" room was overly spacious with 3 rooms and a walkout to our car. Wine and after dinner drinks complimentary. Would highly Recommend . Bobb Fielder

By far the best Bed & Breakfast we have stayed at hands down! The ambience, food, history of the home, our room & Innkeeper Richards attention to detail were all top shelf! You start the day with an incredible breakfast which includes a dessert & end the day with a nightcap & piece of chocolate waiting for you in your room. Felt special staying here. We stayed in Mary’s Room (as my wife is named Mary!). It was perfect! Richard and David were excellent hosts. Very accommodating and gave us a warm welcome and send off. Wine when we arrived (welcome after a long days driving!) and sherry at bed time! Very relaxing and the house is magnificent. Highly recommend!

I think this is the B and B I have stayed at. This is my 3rd time. The inside is beautiful. Richard the ower is probably the kindest person you will ever meet. He knows the area well to suggest restraunts. He also knows the history of the home. Amazing 4 course breakfast ending with ice cream. I am not a big ice cream person especially in the winter. I have never had an ice cream Sundae like this so good!

Spent 12 nights here whilst visiting family in the area. We agree with other guests that the Alexander Mansion House offers an “experience” in an historic building. We had the Alexander Durante room which was beautiful. Every night we would have a “night cap” and the room would be waiting for us with lamps turned on and the radio on. Breakfast is very much a part of the experience here. We got to meet and talk to / have breakfast with so many other guests over our time here which really added to the experience. Cannot rate this property highly enough. It made for a much needed break and a wonderful Christmas. We will be returning very soon! Thank you to our wonderful hosts x

It eas amazing. The bed and breakfast is beautiful. The room is gorgeous. It truly is a mansion . Richard is a wonderful host. He makes the best breakfast. My wife and I decided on a weekend getaway on short notice. We enjoy touring old mansions and so we were delighted when we came across the Alexander Mansion while doing a google search of nearby bed and breakfasts (We live in Minneapolis). The check-in with Richard was fun and easy. Richard provided several dinner recommendations and made our reservation once we decided where we wanted to go. Our accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well designed. The mansion was a step back in time. Richard provided an excellent four course breakfast. We are excited to return as soon as possible. We plan on bringing friends next time to enjoy the space.

Very grand home of 1890. I was in Winona for a class reunion. The Alexander Mansion was very clean with vintage decor. Breakfast was served at a large dining room table where we could chat with the other guests. Breakfast was a 5 course meal with each course perfect in presentation and taste. Our experience was absolutely perfect. Richard, the Innkeeper, was an amazing host. He gave us great recommendations around town for dinner and there were many wonderful touches included in the stay. My visit to Winona was to revisit places from when I lived there 50 yrs ago. I chose Alexander Mansion as it matched closely the home we were placed in as the pastor for a local church. And it did bring back memories! I was flooded with nostalgia and happy memories, from mom making us dust the bannister spindles to having to use a step to get into the high beds. And the wrap around porch and the multiple fireplaces. Every where I looked, I relived happy memories. Richard was a gracious host with helpful tips. And not enough good things can be said about the breakfast. Plan your day accordingly as you will be stuffed from the 5 course breakfast! Even when I was the only guest, he went all out!

Richard was extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. He gave a great overview about the Alexander, including it's history. Everything about our stay was extremely satisfactory. We highly recommend this property.

This is a must see for anyone who wants a cozy place with much history. The home is beautisul, and Richard provides service that is unmatched in my experience. The breakfast that is provided in the morning is massive and enjoyable. If you are planning a trip to Winona and want to have an experience as opposed to just lodging, I think you will be very pleased to stay here.

What’s a wonderful place. Richard is so welcoming, the mansion is huge and beautiful and full of character, and he even put together snack breakfast for me to take with me because I could not stay for the actual breakfast. Winona itself is lovely and I was able to take a couple of sunset walks on the water after I arrived quite late. I can’t recommend this place enough.

This is the best B&B around. I hate sharing the review because more people will stay. Richard and David are the perfect hosts. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast is more than you could ask for. The only negative is the white wine should be chilled during the wine social. Each day they white wine was warm. However, if that's the only negative, then it's a WIN. Winona is a wonderful town and it's great to explore when the college students are not yet in attendance. The B&B is full of history and Richard gives a wonderful story of the history. Will definitely stay again.

My wife and I decided on a weekend getaway on short notice. We enjoy touring old mansions and so we were delighted when we came across the Alexander Mansion while doing a google search of nearby bed and breakfasts (We live in Minneapolis). The check-in with Richard was fun and easy. Richard provided several dinner recommendations and made our reservation once we decided where we wanted to go. Our accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well designed. The mansion was a step back in time. Richard provided an excellent four course breakfast. We are excited to return as soon as possible. We plan on bringing friends next time to enjoy the space.

Our experience was absolutely perfect. Richard, the Innkeeper, was an amazing host. He gave us great recommendations around town for dinner and there were many wonderful touches included in the stay. We also got to learn a lot about the house. The breakfast was phenomenal. Richard goes above and beyond for everyone who stays at the mansion. I cannot emphasize enough what a pleasure it was to stay here.

Richard was amazing. The house was beautiful and the breakfast will leave you full for hours! If you need more than one bed, take the room with the kitchenette. Its cozy and has a private entrance.

Very grand home of 1890. I was in Winona for a class reunion. The Alexander Mansion was very clean with vintage decor.
