Great location, just right for the budget. AC works great as Amsterdam was quite hot and the AC really helped. Staff is very friendly and helpful. No breakfast facility in the hotel, but they offer coffee and free fruit.

Very central hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Had a place to store luggage and a safe in the room. No tea or coffee in room but facilities downstairs to do so. Vending machine was not working which was disappointing but plenty of shops nearby.

The entrance on Damrak is a little obscure, and walking down the narrow hallway behind a coffee shop left us unsure of what to expect—but once inside, the experience was a pleasant surprise. We met three different staff members during our stay and all were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The room was small, with the bed running wall to wall, so there was no space to walk around it—one of us had to climb over the bed to reach the other side. However, the bed was extremely comfortable, very clean, and well supplied with fresh linen and pillows. A big plus was that the window could be opened, which helped with the stuffy hotel rooms we encountered elsewhere in Europe during winter. The bathroom was compact and basic but exceptionally clean, fully functional, and the shower was excellent. Shampoo/body wash was provided, and we were amused to find the hairdryer stored in the safe. The location is outstanding—around a five-minute walk from Centraal Station and within easy walking distance of everything we needed for our two-day stay. With a late flight, we were offered a free midday checkout or 1:30 pm for 20% of the nightly rate (about AUD$33), which was well worth it. Secure luggage storage was also available for as long as needed. The hotel spans two buildings, making access a bit of a maze, with small lifts typical of older European buildings. Overall, excellent value for such a central location in a major European city.

The hotel was in a great location close to the train. It also had excellent air conditioning. The bathroom drain did not work and it flooded the bathroom each time you showered. Also the WiFi did not work the entire time we were there. They said floor 5 was too far from reception. But neither of the WiFi networks worked. The decor was…interesting… but I guess each room is different.

Great location with elevator. Rooms are small and bathroom does not have a separate stall but works great and very functional. King bed was very comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would stay again for sure !

No amenities at all, room did not even have tissues. No spce in bathroom, no shelves, no room on sink, no towel rack. We have all been in lots of hotel rooms with poor lighting, but this was the worst ever. Room was very very dark, even in day time. A/C worked very well. Did not expect a luxury hotel at the price paid but this was absolutely bare bones

This was a real find: the hotel was reasonably priced, in a convenient and safe location, and with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. There is an elevator, but as it’s a bit of a rabbit warren upstairs, you might need to switch to another one. When the person at the desk saw that I had a heavy suitcase, she moved me to a room that did t require changing elevators or climbing stairs. When I got to my room, i couldn’t open the window, and they sent someone up within a few min it es to fix it. There’s free coffee and tea in a lounge on the ground floor, and it’s an easy walk from the station (which I could see from my window) Great breakfast place a couple of doors down. The staff pride themselves on the individual decor for each room. My room was pretty bare bones, but functional with nice pillows. It would be better with more light ,and a box of tissues, but that’s a very minor issue.

Whilst a very basic hotel, it was right in the centre of Amsterdam and had all our needs. Staff available 24/7 were very friendly and helpful, giving us lots of tips for places to visit. Room was very clean and we had a view over Damrak. Free tea and coffee always available by reception, and a nice cafe next door for breakfast. People were constantly arriving, so obviously a popular choice. if you are looking for a central location at a reasonable price, this is it.

The location was fantastic. Walking distance to the hustle and bustle of everything. The room itself was shabby, the walls needed cleaning or a coat of paint.. The bed is only accessible on one side only. However the best itself was very comfy.

I would have had a far more sanitary practice, better service, and overall better experience while in jail. Before diving into my full review, upon entering my room there was multiple small (.5-2cm) blood stains on the bed sheets and comforter. This alone was enough to persuade me not to stay the night, but this was far from my only concern. The hotel is well placed in Amsterdam and the staff are generally helpful, but there are a number of other issues that detract from the stay. The room is lower end of acceptable but shows HEAVY signs of wear: extremely outdated (passed off as ‘stylistic’ but in reality is just entirely worn down and near useless), fixtures that squeak so loud it could be heard multiple stories down, or don’t function at all. Noise/sound proofing is a joke. The bed is fine, though it feels like a spring loaded jack in the box. There was quite a lot of lint and unidentifiable materials spread throughout. The entire bed inspection was done prior to touching anything, as is typically done upon entering a new room. There was multiple small (0.5-2cm) blood stains on the bed sheets and comforter. This booking is the type of booking that makes you read every tiny detail of every booking you make anywhere going forward. If you are in Amsterdam for a short stay, plan to spend most of your time outside the room. I want to pretend this place was serviceable enough, but all the small issues stacking with extreme issues makes this impossible

The rooms smelled interesting and I couldn\'t tell if it was the room or the bathroom. My friend said that in her room her sheets were dirty, and she was also upset with the cleanliness of her bathroom. There are no refrigerators, and even though it has an elevator there are some rooms you still have to walk up or down a flight (if you intend to have bulky or heavy luggage. Staff was friendly/helpful, but unfortunately was not able to check us in due to some system failure. Great feature is that it\'s close to the main train station and decently central in Amsterdam, but you will walk past the entrance it\'s a small "door" with a sign above it between a busy business street.

This was a great place to stay for a quick, two night stay in Amsterdam. A quick walk from the train station with spacious room and comfortable bed. The room could have been cleaner (a few hairs in the shower) but nothing major. We did have two inconveniences while staying, the first day the water was turned off all day due to some road work. Out of the hotels power but a bit inconvenient. Second was the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. Overall would recommend for ease, and first time visitors.

Great location, Friendly Staff You can’t find a better location. This hotel was half way on the busy Damrak street, between the Train Station(6min walk) and Dam Square. We stayed in rm 517 which was the top floor in the Roof Gable looking onto Damrak. The room was quaint old world charm with exposed beams and fairly large for Europe. The bed was extremely comfortable and the place was clean. The only drawback to the room is that it could be a bit loud at times as it faces the busy street, so we did hear some noise from late night party goers and the Tram that passes, but overall we weren’t disturbed too much. There was lots of shopping, restaurants and attractions to sightseeing close by… all within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and always accommodating to our request. I would definitely stay there again, and would want that same room 👌

The room was ridiculously small. The head and foot of the bed touched their respective walls. With two people sleeping in a king size bed, one of had to crawl over the other to go to the bathroom. Otherwise, it was fine. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. The location is fabulous. Oh, and we looked in another room that was not small like ours. Did we get unlucky, or did they not tell us that the room was so small?

The hotel was in a great location close to the train. It also had excellent air conditioning. The bathroom drain did not work and it flooded the bathroom each time you showered. Also the WiFi did not work the entire time we were there. They said floor 5 was too far from reception. But neither of the WiFi networks worked. The decor was…interesting… but I guess each room is different.

Great location near Amsterdam Centraal. Limited amenities. Suite has large room, comfy king bed, large shower. Terrace overlooking Damrak. Walls were painted black, so very limited lighting, even with full window light. Terrace could use cleaning.

The entrance on Damrak is a little obscure, and walking down the narrow hallway behind a coffee shop left us unsure of what to expect—but once inside, the experience was a pleasant surprise. We met three different staff members during our stay and all were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The room was small, with the bed running wall to wall, so there was no space to walk around it—one of us had to climb over the bed to reach the other side. However, the bed was extremely comfortable, very clean, and well supplied with fresh linen and pillows. A big plus was that the window could be opened, which helped with the stuffy hotel rooms we encountered elsewhere in Europe during winter. The bathroom was compact and basic but exceptionally clean, fully functional, and the shower was excellent. Shampoo/body wash was provided, and we were amused to find the hairdryer stored in the safe. The location is outstanding—around a five-minute walk from Centraal Station and within easy walking distance of everything we needed for our two-day stay. With a late flight, we were offered a free midday checkout or 1:30 pm for 20% of the nightly rate (about AUD$33), which was well worth it. Secure luggage storage was also available for as long as needed. The hotel spans two buildings, making access a bit of a maze, with small lifts typical of older European buildings. Overall, excellent value for such a central location in a major European city.

Our room was perfect and cosy, it’s so easy to get anywhere from this hotel with central station only down the road and plenty of shop and food shops open till late and the staff are amazing, very friendly and kind, especially the night staff who spent the time to talk to us and made us feel welcome and gave brilliant recommendations couldn’t of hoped for better staff

Terrific staff, helpful and friendly, great location good coffee very clean very comfortable bed, air quality. GreatTelevision. We got ourselves turned around and lost in Amsterdam, called the hotel snd they patiently and kindly got us back on track. Lovely area, great walks, trams to all museums, concerts, walk to several great restaurants for all styles and prices

In late October-early November I was given a room which had no heat. It was bone-chilling cold. I caught one of the most furious colds of my life and had to seek medical attention. I relayed the situation twice to the hotel personnel, and their only action was to give me an additional comforter for the bed, nothing else. I can only assume that the hotel management either had no solution or else didn't care. I will never stay there again.

My room had hair- others hair- on the toilet, bath towels and on shower floor; it also had stains (looked like makeup) all over the pillow case. I took photos when I got into my room, showed the Supervisor who told me she could downgrade me or upgrade me with a charge. We asked to speak to the Manager and requested a full refund. After a 3 HOUR exchange (excuse the pun), we received a refund and booked a different hotel (having to, of course, pay more money). Terrible service- check in was a nightmare, disorganized and no sense of urgency on hotel staff\'s part. Is unfortunate because the location, although very busy and noisey on Damark, could be a better experience. The Exchange Hotel needs a lot of work for the price they charge and the positives they claim for their hotel. The only positive that came about was that after 3 hours of patience and negotiations, we received a full refund on a non-refundable room. This was a result of "threatening" Visa policy and consequences they could incur. After a 9.5 hours flight, this was a HUGE pain in the ass.

The location of this hotel is in a pretty prime spot! That part I really enjoyed. However, the front desk service was pretty unfriendly and not super welcoming. Additionally, I had Just booked the hotel and a couple hours later I realized I had accidentally selected the wrong dates and tried to amend the reservation. They refused to reimburse me. The two additional nights had been reserved by accident even though it had only been about 30 minutes. Typically, hotels will work with you, given the circumstances, and how far away in advance the reservation was made, but they seemed more interested in taking my money than helping me. When I got to the room, it was very very, very basic. It wasn’t super uncomfortable, but it definitely was not cozy cozy. I probably would not stay there again.

Great location, Friendly Staff You can’t find a better location. This hotel was half way on the busy Damrak street, between the Train Station(6min walk) and Dam Square. We stayed in rm 517 which was the top floor in the Roof Gable looking onto Damrak. The room was quaint old world charm with exposed beams and fairly large for Europe. The bed was extremely comfortable and the place was clean. The only drawback to the room is that it could be a bit loud at times as it faces the busy street, so we did hear some noise from late night party goers and the Tram that passes, but overall we weren’t disturbed too much. There was lots of shopping, restaurants and attractions to sightseeing close by… all within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and always accommodating to our request. I would definitely stay there again, and would want that same room 👌

Comfortable bed, although the king room was tight. No matter, we only slept there. Well situated for train and tours. Heart of tourist area was annoying as the streets were very busy and dirty. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Staff were Excellent!!!,

Whilst a very basic hotel, it was right in the centre of Amsterdam and had all our needs. Staff available 24/7 were very friendly and helpful, giving us lots of tips for places to visit. Room was very clean and we had a view over Damrak. Free tea and coffee always available by reception, and a nice cafe next door for breakfast. People were constantly arriving, so obviously a popular choice. if you are looking for a central location at a reasonable price, this is it.

Great location, just right for the budget. AC works great as Amsterdam was quite hot and the AC really helped. Staff is very friendly and helpful. No breakfast facility in the hotel, but they offer coffee and free fruit.

Very central hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Had a place to store luggage and a safe in the room. No tea or coffee in room but facilities downstairs to do so. Vending machine was not working which was disappointing but plenty of shops nearby.

This was a real find: the hotel was reasonably priced, in a convenient and safe location, and with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. There is an elevator, but as it’s a bit of a rabbit warren upstairs, you might need to switch to another one. When the person at the desk saw that I had a heavy suitcase, she moved me to a room that did t require changing elevators or climbing stairs. When I got to my room, i couldn’t open the window, and they sent someone up within a few min it es to fix it. There’s free coffee and tea in a lounge on the ground floor, and it’s an easy walk from the station (which I could see from my window) Great breakfast place a couple of doors down. The staff pride themselves on the individual decor for each room. My room was pretty bare bones, but functional with nice pillows. It would be better with more light ,and a box of tissues, but that’s a very minor issue.

Veldig bra plassering. Eget bad. Utsikt mot hovedgaten. Hyggelig betjening. Døgnåpen resepsjon. Gratis te. Massevis av gode suvenir butikker. Kina restaurant en skuffelse. Måtte gå gjennom red light district. Ikke noe kjekt. Jumbo matbutikk lite utvalg, minner om Joker. Spar butikk dyr, men litt bedre utvalg av mat. Delikatesse butikk i samme gate som Spar, men åpner seint. Ingen spa med tilgang til sauna, dusj og boblebad. Måtte ta massasje først. Prøvde å forklare at jeg hadde kreft og veide under 50 kg. Gått ned over 30 kg. Noe som var veldig dårlig ettersom det snødde og daglig regn med mye vind. Så totalt feil tid på året å besøke Amsterdam. Minner om været i Bergen. Bare mer vind. Besøk Amsterdam i juli og første halvdel av August. Da kan du sitte ute.

it’s a kinda hip place in a very touristy part of amsterdam. better for young people who are there to party and crash. staying in the room isn’t an option. only the bed fits 😂 all that being said if the above applies to you this is going to be perfect for you. My 19 year old son loved it. downstairs cafe makes excellent coffees.

Just used the room to sleep and get ready. Would not hang out in the room. The walls are covered with dirty/stained drapes that look like theater curtains. The bed was comfortable at least. No ice or water to drink available.
Just used the room to sleep and get ready. Would not hang out in the room. The walls are covered with dirty/stained drapes that look like theater curtains. The bed was comfortable at least. No ice or water to drink available.

Got next to zero sleep due to being in a room next to reception. Avoid rooms 101, 102, 103. Made worse by a rude guy on reception in the early hours talking to someone on speaker and listening to the radio loudly and when asked if he could keep the noise down didn't react well, went on to blank my other half then after returning to the room proceeded to laugh loudly and keep up with the noise. Shocking.

The hotel was under construction with wet paint everywhere. Their pictures online are most definitely not the room we stayed in. Dusty/Dirty yellow curtain with dust on floors. No shower curtain and water stood all over the bathroom. Had to carry luggage up the stairs. Terrible room.

Hotel in need of an update. Even though they have an elevator, you still had to use a few stairs to get to the second elevator. We chose this hotel because of proximity to Centraal Station.
