Hampton by Hilton London Croydon

Newly built hotel, very handy for the Thameslink trains to and through london and Gatwick airport. Rooms very tight to move around in. No bath and shower just about adequate. Staff are really, really friendly. Hotel is let down by the area and the gym. Area not great to walk around on your own. There's plenty of eating opportunities but no classy places. As for the gym. 1 runner, 1 bike and some weights in an area about the same size as a small bedroom does not make a gym! BTW I booked here instead of Leonardos over the road as this propety advertised a gym, which I wanted to use as the streets aren't so safe on night.

Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and a good breakfast. Special mention to Manoj who was working during breakfast - he was so friendly and helpful and is a real asset to this hotel. I hope he can be recognised in some way. My only slight negative is the so called accesible parking paces at the front of the hotel which are really not sufficient. In fact I was given a parking ticket despite displaying my blue badge. The ticket states that I was partially on the pavement but I was parked as close as I could to the hotel pillars to allow for entry and exit to the vehicle. Maybe the bays could be marked to help? Thanks.

Breakfast was awful. Gym equipment broken and bike was a £45p/m peleton. Bed was uncomfortable as matteress was cheap and you could hear springs popping.

The staff at the front desk were to busy talking between themselves, one lift out of order, no explanation to where the stairs were. The lift that was in use was being used by the staff (which I understand) but for them to tutt when the guest stop it.

Lovely modern hotel near Selhurst Park. Satnav directions useless. Better to opt for Ruskin Square Car Park across the road. Parking very expensive £16 and no subsidy. Rooms are very small and not suitable for families. No walking space to use the desk or access window. Cant leave window open at night as very noisy. Not worth £167 a night. On a plus breakfast was good. Staff are pleasant and helpful.

Overnight stay. Ruskin square car park directly opposite the hotel was very convenient. Room was very clean. Customer service was excellent and restaurant staff super attentive and friendlly. Great breafast and choices. Only complaint was the gym - the tredmill and bike didn't work and no weights. Other than that everything was great.

We stayed for 2 nights at this beautiful hotel, while attending a concert at Crystal Palace Park. Every member of staff we saw or dealt with was friendly, welcoming and pleasant. Our room was lovely, clean and tidy. Breakfast was great and the staff were very keen to please and seemed very happy in their roles. It was convenient to catch a bus from the station, just 5 or 10 minutes walk away. The only one criticism I can make is that we were unable to order a drink and sit in the bar after our return from the concert at around 11pm. We were offered the option of a drink but we would have to take it to the room. Also there was no food service available, but an Uber delivery was offered. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, particularly the friendly staff and would definitely stay again if we needed to be in the area.

Close to central Croydon. Carpark across road but only 1.85m headroom. Good for railway and tram.

No room service after 10 but very convenient to the train station.

Walking towards the hotel felt dangerous at night. Rooms were decrepit with mildew and musty smelling curtains The hilton app is rubbish

The building was safe and secure, with the door key card required to access the building when the doors were locked, and also to operate the lift. Although there was a good level of cleanliness, the bed frame and items within the room were looking well used and tired. The breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was of a reasonable standard.

Very close to train station, the room was spotless and quiet, comfortable bed, breakfast was copious.

Checked in on this hotel late night after our long flight from Texas. Next day, we found dried blood spots on the lower part of sheet under the duvet!!! It was disgusting and on our inspection, the sheets were not changed from the previous guests as there were blond hairs in there. FYI, we are asians with dark brown hair. Phone and safe were not working! BEWARE!

Room was decent sized and clean. Staff were very friendly

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and it is becoming increasingly shabby. We had to ask to change rooms on arrival as the first one allocated was smelly. A bit like it had been cleaned with a dirty mop. The room was not made up, so cups were not cleaned and the tea and coffee not replenished. The safe in the room was broken. Staff were fine, as was the breakfast. Since we stay in the Croydon area quite regularly, we will consider other options in the future.

I travelled with my daughters for their 18th bday trip. We had a red eye flight and made into London at 10am. When we got to the hotel the front desk concierge assured us that she would put us in a room although we weren’t due to check in until 3pm. To our disappointment, the room was not ready and was not cleaned from the previous guest(s). Went back downstairs and got it rectified. It was all downhill from there. The shower curtain in the bathroom was dirty and stained like it hadn’t been replaced in months. Worst part of the stay was when I found a bed bug crawling on the bathroom wall. The only bright spot was hotel employee (Manoj). Manoj was very kind and courteous during our interactions with him.

Reception staff welcoming and reception area and restaurant clean and appealing. Room was dusty with stray hairs on the towels. Bed springs were broken - really uncomfortable. Not what you'd expect from the Hilton chain.

Family room very small. Limited space to move. The carpet in the room and the common area need a good clean. If you need a bed for a night or two or travelling alone, it is fine. Stayed at the Docklands hampton, it was a much much better experience. In short I wouldn't stay here again.

Hotel experience was excellent,but could do with upgrading mattresses as too firm.

The staff here was tremendous. We had a problem with our original room. They were courteous and efficient in moving us to another room. The only negative was the comfort of the bed, which I think just needs updating.

Nice hotel but Wi-Fi didn't work in room for all 4 nights I was there. It was reported every day but never fixed. They did offer an alternative room but I managed by going to a nearby coffee shop.

Good for a quick overnight stay. Decent breakfast. Room with double bed and sofa bed was really small. Sleeps three but not enough space generally for three people to move around. Staff were all really pleasant.

Great hotel, comfortable room was a little on the small size but perfectly adequate. I had a problem with the Wi-Fi however which was reported on the day I checked in. I stayed a total of 4 nights and despite reporting every day the issues was never fixed. Unfortunately the mobile data signal in the room was also poor which caused issues when I was trying to do work from my room. I had to go out to a nearby coffee shop to use their Wi-Fi. Otherwise the staff were helpful and breakfast was good.

Paid £105 for the room as it had aircon, could have stayed at the Travel lodge for 65 with a fan, but wanted aircon as it was a really not day. Aircon not working, was given a fan. Bed was so uncomfortable, reported to main reception who said we would get a mattress topper, when is arrived it was a mattress cover and made absolutely no difference. Was told that all the beds are the same. Spent the majority of the night in the night in the chair. Ordered fish and chips from the restaurant. When the meal came the two pieces of fish were so over fried, that when I tried to cut the breadcrumb it was broke up, to reveal a grey piece of fish about 3 inches long and far to chewy for even the knife to cut. Sent it back and changed for a chicken and bacon pizza. This was not much better, to be honest it booked just like a pizza you can buy from a supermarket for about £4, however charged £15. The noise of the doors banging was so loud, that when I manage to doze off in the chair, that woke me up. Whilst we were there we witnessed many other guests making the same complaints. We reported this to reception again in the morning who were apologetic that we had not had a good stay. We would not stay again.

Usual fry up items okay. Miniture donuts, cakes and muffins were dry and tasteless however the freshly made waffles were great. Coffee out of machine was not to my taste as uses watered down powdered milk. Fruit selection limited. The man helping to accomodate guests at breakfast was attentive and appreciated. Would i stay again? Yes

Everything was really good, except for the fire alarm on Saturday night / Sunday Morning at 1AM. Service at breakfast was excellent, good friendly staff. Reception were really friendly and made us feel really welcome.

Staff lies and spins the truth. So I won’t give my opinion. I will just state the facts. 1st NIGHT - Arrived at 10 pm after a long trans-Atlantic flight - 1st room / AC does not work. says 18 C, which is around 65 F; should be cold. room is mildly hot. There is a button to lower temp. Vikas tells me - “no, button doesn’t work. The minimum is 18”. Room is still hot. - He takes me to another room. temp is again 18 C, but room is cooler. But there’s clearly a strong musty smell. - 3rd room is also cold, just like the 2nd, at 18 C. Now I can rest. I pull back the sheets. There are 5 hair on the bed sheet. I call Vikas - he grudgingly changes the bed sheet. - But what about the comforter on top of the bed sheet? His reply, “you can check out now”. It is 11 pm and pitch dark outside. The neighborhood seems unsafe. I have no choice but to sleep in the bed. 2nd NIGHT - 3 am / Fire alarm goes off. I carry little one down the stairs. The entire bldg is on the street. Someone tripped the fire alarm - FROM OUTSIDE THE HOTEL! And they have no control. - Little one wakes up, stays awake until 6 am. - I complain to Asif. There’s no apology. He tells me that he will pass the message to Clayton, the GM. - Two old ladies tell me that the fire alarm was tripped up the prev day also at 2 pm. 3rd DAY - I call. Garima, the front desk Mgr tells me Clayton doesn’t talk to everyone. And just like that, the call is over. Ok. Read and make your decision.

Hotel was basic but ok. Had an issue checking in, luckily a colleague had id and a bank card as I don’t travel with either, just Apple Pay. Maybe send an email before hand to say that they’re needed or no check in. Also instead of a hold on my card, the payment was taken the day before but the receptionist told me it was a hold/pending payment but it was not, so my colleague and I had both paid for both rooms and we were lied to. My money was refunded 2 days later.

The man at reception was not welcoming and walked away before he had finished telling us everything. We had to ask another female staff who was extremely polite and helpful to finish serving us.

We stayed at The Hampton from June 30 to July 5 2025. The staff was very friendly and helped us whether in the morning for breakfast or to help us warm our food in the evening. The staff were consistently friendly and always smiling. Environment was clean and hotel was about 6 minutes walk to train station and eating places. We would especially like to acknowledge Manoj and the front desk staff, Garima who checked us in when we arrived on June 30th.

Checking out was very slow, went searching for someone, then took along to print the invoice out, even though I was the only person around. Charged me £30 when I never spent a penny at the hotel, weird smell around the hotel, room was very small, tv never worked.

The lady Fran or Frans at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant. She made our stay really nice especially with directions and how to get around on the train. Breakfast was really good. Beautiful hotel and convenient to shops and trains.

Close to Croydon train station and more affordable than staying downtown London. Quick access to trains to Gatwick which is one stop up or a 45 minute ride to Brighton Beach. 15 minutes to London Victoria.

Clean and comfortable room Restaurant with very limited menu. Breakfast buffet daily was disappointing. Excellent location for public transport, buses, trains, trams etc. Easy to get int central London by train and easy access to and from gatwick airport Walk to shops and restaurants

This property is situated next to the train station which made it very easy to travel.

Convenient location for a short stay. Close to the train station and Box Park. Plenty of places to eat or get a drink nearby. At times lots of cars park outside the entrance making it hard to cross the road, particularly with the nearby building works blocking the pavement.

Our stay was really good. Family of 5 we booked two family rooms that were connected. The location is the best! The train to central London(Victoria, Waterloo London Bridge)is a 2 min walk and there are also trains to Brighton and Gatwick airport, many restaurants in the area, movie theatre, shopping mall. One of the rooms was slightly smaller than the other. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel in itself needs much of a touch up as you can see some small deteriorations but not to the point of being put off so it can be easily ignored during the stay. I'd book again.

Great hotel, clean room, just by the station

Swift check in, comfortable room, lovely shower. Had something to eat in the dining room which to be honest wasn't anything to write home about (quick heated pre packaged fish and chips) but I didn't want to go elsewhere, so it fulfilled a need.... Breakfast 'ok', a bit salty, and the dining room a little on the 'soulless' side, but the staff were helpful, smiley and friendly

Amazing staff at the reception. Check in was a breeze. Clean, well appointed room (with the most squeaky bed in all of Croydon though). Breakfast was really nice as well. I really enjoyed my stay.

The staff were so lovely and helpful. Couldn’t ask for better people. Breakfast is as fab especially the freshly made Waffle! Unbelievable! Air conditioning- wasn’t great. Information sheet might be useful in room.

A basic hotel with 'literally' Chicago Town frozen pizza served up as fresh for £15!!!!

Pleasant stay , good breakfast with great choices & very friendly staff

Well located for East Croydon station and local tram services. The property is quiet and provides good service within a locale well served by hotels of a similar standard. The breakfast offering is varied.
