Great location! Extremely noisy balcony door was open. Small pool situated in the dining room. Had to pay for second face cloth, But money was returned on leaving. No elevators. Restaurant had very good food and service was good

Headlines - this is a great location - one block off the Malicon. The hotel is older but mostly well maintained. It’s very clean and we saw how they cleaned a room between guests! It was extensive. The water pressure in the shower was great and the water was hot when needed! Things to be aware of - the wifi can be slow. The staff suggested I try a different room’s network and after a couple of tries I found one that was decent. The pool area is completely assigned to restaurant seating so you need to sit further down in the courtyard. This area seems to be not in main use anymore as there is maintenance items stored here. We did not care but some people might. The beds are firm. I found the pillows really flattened out. The staff were so pleasant and accommodating - we felt very well cared for during our stay. If you are OK with a basic room and love being in the center of everything, then this is good value!

Great hotel, great location. Malecon is literally across the street. The area has access to everything you need from food options, banks farmacia etc. Only downfall is if you are on the main street side, it can be a little loud with traffic but not intolerable. We didn't use the pool. It looks nice but it's in the middle of the restaurant and I found that a bit awkward. That is really my only real complaint

Basic hotel. Bed was comfortable but had a cement wall for headboard, and couldn't sleep due to incessant noise from a compressor operating right outside our room. Only stayed two nights, so didn't ask to move. No elevator, which we knew when booking. Location was good, one street over from Malecon, but on a very busy, very noisy street. Restaurant wasn't great, but many other options close by. Reception staff very nice and helpful with directions.

I do not recommend this hotel. 1. My bathroom had MOLD. There was no fan, window or ventilation of any kind in our bathrooms. I witnessed and took photos of them JUST PAINTING OVER IT... No vinegar, bleach, nothing to deal with the mold. So it smelled of paint all 3 days I was there. I'v been sick for over a month since getting back. 2. The second bed in the room was a not a bed but a mattress on top of a futon. .

This is an economy hotel but worth the price. The staff was excellent and accommodating. We had microscopic ants in our room that appeared to be from the previous guest. We reported it and they attempted to eradicate them but sadly we had to share our stay with them. If not for that I would have rated this hotel higher.

Everything was great about this place, only thing is there was a decent amount of mold in the bathroom in my room. So just be cautious of that if you plan on staying here. I think it's due to the fact that the bathroom doesn't have a fan or ventilation, outside of the door being left open.

We just needed a room to sleep so we got this hotel but we did not know that it was located by a busy street. the glass door is not too thick so the noise of the cars driving by, can be heard. Also, the room was ok but I can see that the building is a little bit old.. On the other side I can say that is location is very convenient if you’re not driving, because you can walk around the malecón and restaurants are plenty around the area too..

Nice interior design/decor, good restaurant, plenty of hot water in the shower (not so much in the sink), room had a safe, very good A/C. - Intermittent wi-fi, no cable or satellite TV (antenna only), no hand towels, no elevator, ice cold pool, no "Do Not Disturb" signs for the doors, no room fridge, no coffee Mondays (restaurant closed).

This is a solid budget hotel in a fantastic location, well worth the under $100/night price, but it’s not for everyone. Pros- Location- A block off of the Malecone board walk, tons of transportation, perfectly walkable, plenty of options. Staff- Staff if friendly, speaks English well, and are very helpful. Hotel dining - Solid in hotel restaurant, no room service, but easy access. Price- Nice sized rooms for the price. Cons- Noise- The hotel is well built, so no room neighbor noise, but PV has cobblestone streets and hotel is on a busy one. Most rooms are street facing, and vehicles are super noisy. This includes late night excessively load people and car radio noise, even very late at night. I used ear plugs every night. Odors- PV’s high humidity creates a moldy/mildewy smell, largely from the air conditioning unit. It dissipates fairly quickly, but if you’re sensitive, then this isn’t the place for you. Balcony- Some rooms have a shared falcon and is easy access to next room’s outside door. Door closure seems sufficient, but doesn’t have a separate lock. No elevator- two floor hotel with no elevator, not too bad, but not for everyone. Pool- The pool is in the court yard, and feels more like a part of the restaurant and not a separate space. No lounges chairs or anything, and not a lot of sun. Conclusion- Great option if you are budget hotel tolerant, if you’re not, look for other locations nearby locations at a higher price point.

The Hotel is clean and very nice! The location is perfect. The cleaning staff are wonderful. You have to remember though, that this is Mexico. It is noisy with outside car traffic. They are not nearly as accomodating as hotels in the US or Canada. The lady at the front desk loved to say No. Can we have an extra key? Can we have an extra hand towel? Can we be on the first floor? No. Can we have a room with 2 single beds? Yes, for $150 more. You get the picture. Overall, I know what to expect, and, I will stay here again!

Overall experience was terrible because of the staff. Staff was rude and very inconsiderate towards guests. We had a total of 3 rooms in this hotel (really wish we didn't) and the check-in process took forever. The hotel only accepted limited payment methods and wouldn't let you keep your bags in the room or even take a shower until you make the full payment first!! At first they sent me a note saying that you need to pay or call us in 24hrs or we will cancel your booking, so, I paid half the amount (through paypal as a workaround) to ensure my booking. I spoke to their representative who knew the issue but at the time of check-in they refused to generate a paypal link and said we would only accept CASH!! I could not even step in to the room after almost 10hr of travel until I paid them in full (all cash). Exchange rate was as per their wish which I found to be really an easy money making opportunity for them. Alberto B. (one of their receptionist) is till date the rudest hotel staff I've meet and I've been to over 23 countries so far, so he is right up there on the top. He would stop you each time to enter the hotel and check for items you are bringing in (like seriously?), water bottles included. He could not speak english and would only say a sentence or two in Spanish with the word "NO" at the end and make you guess what does he mean. I am pretty sure he was making up rules as he went because none of the emails I received from Expedia or the hotel had mention of pol

The staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to make your stay perfect. The hotel is great, everything is concrete on the inside of the rooms with colored designs. Soundproof, clean, sturdy. Location is prime! Walking distance to everything in Centro and the Malecon. Restaurants, shopping, drinking, excursions. The restaurant at the hotel is great. Friendly service, decent prices and the food was great. I had several breakfasts, pizza, pasta, seafood and all was excellent. See you soon Hotel Rio!

The Staff here is Perfecto. If we needed anything they made sure our needs were met. Carlos at the front desk was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The maids, Coexist restaurant staff and the maintenance man were all so pleasant. We look forward to staying here once again.

This was the absolute worst hotel experience I've ever had. From the minute I arrived I was treated like garbage. The staff ( especially the manager ) were extremely rude, they would not allow a guest to visit me and the air conditioning unit leaked a puddle on my floor causing me to slip and fall. The hotel did not even apologize. I had to change hotels mid week and this ruined my entire trip. Expedia was not helpful whatsoever either. The 2 passed the buck back and forth and left me to fend for myself. This hotel treated all the white people the same way I met 2 other couples who were disgusted at how they were treated also. They accused us of smoking in our rooms when we absolutely did not. Then when we complained they threatened to have us arrested. Absolutely not a good experience. The hotel ruined my trip and did not care at all that I fell and could have been seriously injured.. never stay here never ever ever stay at this hotel. The loft Malecon up the street will take good care of you they were amazing to me once I got moved. But the rio malecon is absolutely horrendous in how they treat their guests

This hotel is in a fantastic location. Right at your doorstep is the Romantic Zone, Downtown and the Maleconè is not even a block away. The Rio Cualè river market is also right there. The staff are friendly and helpful. I've stayed at a few other hotels in the RZ around the same price and this one is definitely the cleanest! If you're not planning to spend much time at your hotel, this spot is perfect. If you want a place to lounge with a view maybe not for you. This was my second time staying at the RIO and I would stay again.

Hotel Rio Malecon is a great hotel! Friendly staff and an excellent restaurant, Coexist Bistro (Italian/Mexican). The property itself is a little dated but the rooms are very clean, the beds are comfy and the air conditioning works great! There is a unique pool and lounge area in the courtyard too! You can't beat the location right on the malecon with tons to do and see all within walking distance. See you soon!

It’s an older property but well maintained. The bed was comfortable and has a nice pool. We had a view of the ocean right down the street from our balcony and a restaurant on site. It’s located a block off the malacon, so a perfect location and close to some great shopping. Only a few blocks away from the Señora de Guadalupe church. The front staff were very friendly and helpful.

Estuvo muy bien! Lo malo de este hotel es la disponibilidad de los que trabajen en el restaurante del hotel en las mañanas. Aunque se dice que se abre a las 7:30 am, estén muy ocupados con el comer entre ellos aún hasta las 9 am. Perdimos mucho interés con comer ahí. Además, estuvo muy tranquilo y divertido el ambiente. Está cerca de muchos mercados y otros puestos maravillosos.

Drinks were good and made of quality ingredients. Staff was all very helpful and kind. We didn't eat breakfast there, but next time probably. It may not be open until 9am which is late for us. Room was clean. Price was excellent for location and convenience. Pool was clean.

This is my second stay at this property and again, I had a wonderful time. I worked from my room a couple of days and the internet speed is excellent with routers for every 2 rooms to share. The on site restaurant, COEXIST, is amazing. I've tried something from every section of the menu and everything was very tasty and of high quality. Kudos the chefs for creating great dishes. The team at Hotel Rio is always ready to help you and answer any questions you may have about the area. The Malecon boardwalk is across the street with tons of shops and restaurants. The secluded pool and sun space is really nice and quiet where you can unwind. I will definitely be back... again. :)

This was more than we expected with a wonderful location only a few meters from the Malecon with everything one could need an easy walk away. The facility is a little tired as it was built in 1958 but a great example of true Mexico. The staff were wonderful with a very good restaurant on site that also was excellent. We will definitely recommend as we were surprised at how quiet our room was on the side street. Front facing rooms would be noisy. We would certainly come again if we needed a short term place to stay in PV. Thanks to all that made this a pleasant surprise.
