This hotel is in a great location near the zocalo, the alameda and the cathedral - the center. It is clean and the staff are great. The rooftop restaurant is delicious - thanks Yvonne - an excellent server who is so nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

Excelente lugar para hospedarse , ya que se encuentra cerca del palacio de bellas artes , torre latino , barrio chino , garibaldi y hay varios restaurantes cerca. Yo me hospedé para ir a un concierto al estadio GNP. La habitación muy cómoda y limpia. Y para mí es un plus el hecho de que llegué mucho antes del check in y me guardaron mi equipaje. También a la hora del check out me guardaron el equipaje , ya que mi transporte salía más tarde y así aproveché para salir a comer y hacer compras sin tener que andar acarreando mi equipaje.

This hotel is in need of a little TLC, but it's okay, generally speaking. Housekeeping services seemed to be somewhat lacking - e.g. the floor was not clean or swept properly. The bathroom was incredibly small with hardly enough room for one person to move freely. The bed was comfortable and the bedding and pillows okay. They have a great rooftop garden and restaurant, serving good local food (including a preset menu at a reasonable price). The rooftop has a good view of the street. The people/staff were friendly, but we didn't interact with them much save for the server at the rooftop restaurant, who was quite pleasant. Hotel Principal is an old, budget hotel ... charging relatively high prices for budget accommodation and services.

El hotel está bien ubicado pero la habitación que nos dieron #300 olía a caño. Pasamos muy mala noche con la ventana abierta, a la mañana siguiente, le comentamos al personal y nos dijeron que le dijéramos directamente a la recepción pues ellos ya sabian del problema y no habian resuelto. Cuando les dijimos, nos cambiaron de habitación pero escuchamos que habian vuelto a dar la habitación con el mismo problema. Asi que se me hizo poco ético el personal de recepción del hotel.

Very hard beds. We had room with two double beds. Very uncomfortable. We asked if they could do something about this (perhaps add a mattress topper etc.) and they gave us a key to a room with a king size bed to see if the bed was better. It was. But when we returned to say that we would like to switch there was discussion among the front desk people and it turned out this change was not possible so they gave us keys to another room to try out (it had double beds) and the beds were just as hard. We stayed with the hard bed for the remaining three nights. But for the hard bed, Hotel Principal is a good property right in the heart of CDMX.

We were in a small "comfort" room. Barely enough space to walk around the double bed. Space poorly planned. Bathroom cramped. No windows. (Other, larger, rooms may have been more pleasant.) We moved across the street to the EXCELLENT Hotel Histórico Centro. Twice the room rate, but worth it, for pleasant surroundings and unbelievable staff service.

Nice clean hotel. The location was amazing!! Very close to a lot of restaurants and stores and iconic places in a walking distance. Nice room, nothing fancy, but clean. The only thing I didn't like is that the Wi-Fi doesn't work well and there are not enough electrical outlets in the room.

We really enjoyed this hotel! They had a beautiful rooftop dinning area with bar. The hotel was very clean. We were with in walking distance to the town square! There is a store and ice cream shop right next store, I loved this so much. The staff was very nice and welcoming❤️we will stay here again.

Was just here with a reservation of three nights. They only took a deposit which I was charged the day before my fist night. I was surprised I didn’t get the option to just pay my whole reservation in advance. Be careful, even with an unpaid reservation done in advance, they will try to charge you a different fee, in my case I was getting charged double the amount for the unpaid balance. During the reservation process, it only gave me the option to pay a deposit and to pay the rest at the hotel. Since I’m bilingual, I was able to talk to them and made them honor the fee on the unpaid reservation. Seems like they are trying to take advantage of the tourists. Be careful and look for another place around, there are plenty of hotels to chose from. Not to mention the rooms were very small. Just a very basic room.

Perfect location, very walkable. The hotel was extremely clean. The staff are great and are very accommodating. They do luggage storage which was a great option for me since I had a late flight. They are one of the few hotels nearby that has A/C in every room. Would not hesitate to book again, great value for the price.
