I travel to Llantrisant regularly for work and staying at The Vale is always a highly pleasant experience. The food is good, the rooms are reasonable and the gym facilities a huge bonus.

Very spacious comfortable room, aircon not working properly on a very hot day. Staff were excellent, attentive, polite and friendly. Excellent choice at breakfast, (£15pp) good quality food, but so-so coffee. Bar meal expensive for what we got, Mezze platter tasty but not a lot for the £20+ we paid. Gorgeous.grounds and views. Plenty of parking. Facilities great if you use them, pool, gym, golf. Great location just off M4. We had a vey good rate so it was very good vfm.

Stunning hotel with amazing pool and jacuzzi area and fabulous outdoor space for sunbathing.Shuttle service to nearby Hensol castle for gin distillery tour/afternoon tea. If you prebook dinner option, you will get 3course menu, otherwise it’s only ala carte on the day. Breakfast is excellent and weather permitting you can sit outside on the terrace with the view of the golf course.The only downside is, that it is in the middle of nowhere and you can eat only in the 1 restaurant as there’s nothing else nearby.

Reception no personality at all , when we booked in . Pool closed very disappointed. Room excellent. Diner very good although three items not available. Nice little touches like bottle of wine in room , and bottles of water . But we did have exec. Room worth the extra . Would definitely return.

Comfortable and above all convenient stay for visiting thia year's Eistedddfod in Pontypridd. Lovely hotel, great facilities and 2 golf courses on site. Staff are very friendly, Welsh speaking and want to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. We had nail clippings on the carpet next to the bed and also in the bathroom next to the sink. We also had a wet towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door which had to be from the previous guest which led us to believe the room wasn’t as clean as it should be

I stayed for 1 night with my sister. A little break away as she hasn’t been well. Our room was lovely and clean. We had a cuppa on the patio. We had a table and chairs and comfy cushions for our use. The bathroom was lovely and big. Super clean. We had a bath and separate shower cubicle. Plenty of complimentary toiletries. We used the hotel bar for our evening meal and drinks. We enjoyed very much. Shout out to a fab cooked breakfast we tucked into a full cooked plus toast and fruit. Lovely.

We’ve stayed here before and it’s ok, it’s probably at the lower end of being a four star hotel because whenever we’ve stayed it’s never super clean (we wouldn’t have stayed here again except it was the only available place when we were in town for a concert) - this time there was a false eyelash left on the floor, the bathroom floor looked like it had been maybe swept but not mopped as you could see water marks on the floor, cobwebs on the windows. The worst thing this time was the fire alarm that sounded twice for a few seconds between 3:30 and 4am, we couldn’t get an explanation as to what this was about but we couldn’t get back to sleep so not a great experience. On the plus side - we had room service when we arrived and breakfast the next day and the food was good, staff are friendly. A quick note about taxis, which is not the hotels responsibility but is something to bear in mind: it can be difficult to get an Uber or taxi to/from Cardiff, it must be too far from Cardiff centre for most drivers. Reception won’t book a taxi for you but they do have local cab firm numbers at the desk and let you use the phone to pre-book for yourself. Pre-booked Ubers also work

First the poor points- executive room booked - shower door missing led to water over bathroom floor, poor workmanship of not finishing the sealing of the shower control. No towel rail to dry towels. Glass shard in shower which I stepped on and it embedded in my foot. Shower tray dirty not been cleaned properly. Bedroom floor not hoovered well as found a very large needle which was waiting to be stepped on. Little things like this leave an impression of not really caring. Housekeeping need to raise their game as I’m not sure I’d return. Positives- staff were great especially when the issues of glass, needles and poor cleanliness were raised. Bar staff were great nice range of bar meals and good selection of drinks. Overall I feel standards in some areas have slipped and that’s a shame.

Room was not good. Bedside lights didn't work. Wardrobe door was hanging of the hinges. Carpet was old. Paintwork was in need of attention. Walls were all marked. Bathroom was clean and bed was comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast could have been better. Spa was good. Wouldn't book again, there were too many negatives.

This is a great place to stay. Lovely spacious rooms, great wifi, wonderful bathrooms and great views. But .... I'm sorry to be slightly negative but the curtains could do with being able to close properly for privacy. That is literally my only gripe. I can't speak about breakfast as I always leave too early. But I do like this hotel, my next-door neighbour (Clive Griffiths) put me onto this as he played rugby for Wales and always rated this hotel. I look forward to returning.

Family Wedding. All gd. Tho Room for a 4 star hotel when you touch up paint on walls use correct colour. And a black mark for the room we had, had all the sockets for plugs/digital etc Except no USB Charging ports. Except 1 incorporated on rear of TV which does not charge.

Overall it was a nice hotel and nice resort. The room was large and very clean. Our only issue was we were on the ground floor even though we were not part of the events. Due to being a popular wedding venue there was a wedding each day. The corridors were loud until 3-4am each day. We struggled to sleep most evenings. We recommend, if you are going to stay request for a room away from wedding guests.

It was a nice stay. The room was nice, buffet breakfast was excellent. The pool was fun. The checking in part experience was disappointing. My staff member didn’t offer a smile or communication, we weren’t given a warm welcome. As it was my wife’s birthday stay I felt more could have been done.

Reception staff not that friendly, also didnt both to help tell me where my room was even though I asked, dont always assume someone has stayed there before! Room was tired looking and dated, really old CAT 5 sockets that nobody uses anymore, no idea where the kettle was, will not stay there again, very disapointed

Staff were fantastic from check in to check out and throughout the stay. Room was clean and had all the amenities needed perhaps some of the furniture could be updated but didn’t effect the stay in any way. Stayed at the hotel for a wedding in llanerch vineyard, After checkout the staff offered us a shuttle to the vineyard to collect our car and save us walking which we massively appreciated. Would definitely recommend staying here and looking forward to staying again in the future!

Staff at this hotel were really helpful, we asked to move room because of noise and they did this immediately. The hotel seems to cater for golfers and functions so it was busy and noisy, one bar area not open and no room in restaurant for dinner. Also our first room right over a function room and unbearably noisy and we were moved to an accessible room which needed some work

Attended a wedding at Hensol Castle and stayed the night at The Vale. The shuttle buses between both venues offer a great service. The room was lovely and had everything you would need. And the bed was huge! I didn’t get the chance to eat at the Vale but my family did the night before and said food was great.

Initially ignored by the receptionist, despite standing there waiting to be greeted and booked in. Booked a double room and was given a twin room. Had dinner in the restaurant, which was busy and had to wait over an hour for our mains. The food was very good, though. Overall, we would not come here again.

My stay was excellent, from start to finish my customer service was first class. From the night porter checking me in to the receptionist taking my bag back to the car nothing was too much trouble. The service was so genuine I didn’t feel I needed to ask for anything the staff offered. From making my breakfast late because I had a flat tyre on my mobility scooter and couldn’t get to the restaurant, to calling the greenkeeper who looks after the golf buggies to try and fix the scooter tyre, to helping me get in it back in the car. My room was changed to ground floor, the porter found me a doorstop so I could drive in and out of the room. Little things to some people, a huge help to someone like me. The only down side of my day was the fact the pool area was closed for renovation. The price was not reduced and I didn’t see that until I had booked. I book the vale because of the leisure facilities. When I saw it was closed I didn’t arrive that afternoon but left it until late evening. Hopefully I can get a pass to come in for a day when it’s open again. I was glad I did come late as the South African night porter was exceptionally helpful and we chatted about rugby. It felt like the staff there were a happy family and as a guest I was one of the cousins. I am glad I went back to staying at the Vale. Well done team Vale.

Check in was very simple and efficient. Prior to our stay we tried to book the restaurant but nobody answered the phone. On the night of our stay we used the bar for food and it was adequate but to be honest very over priced. The burger we ordered was of slightly better than burger van quality. The room had a lively view of the golf course and was clean but a little tired. The bed was comfortable however our nights rest was disturbed by a very noisy wedding in the function room. We could hear every record from their disco and had a very disturbed nights sleep. We paid for breakfast upon arrival and when we went for breakfast there was no record in the restaurant. We had to prove we had paid and it embarrassed us a little as we felt the staff were accusing us of not paying and were room only. Breakfast itself was total chaos and it took some considerable time just to get a coffee. The food was good but nothing special. Checkout was very quick but we were not asked about our stay as I think they knew what we would say. Summary: lovely location, would not recommend.

Reasonable breakfast with usual selection of cooked options. One small comment about the need to ask for coffee/tea …. an individual pot or press would have been appreciated. Restaurant took over an hour to serve pasta dish but management refunded when I decided to abandon waiting. Good sports facilities. Quiet environment. Parking onsite and free WiFi was a plus. Generally a positive stay in a nice convenient location.
