Beautiful scenery, great hot tubs and sauna

The rooms were smaller than expected, very small shower and bathroom, but the beds were comfortable and warm. The pool was not in service during our visit, which was a bummer, but the geothermal hot tub was great! We got to see some northern lights from it on our 2nd night! V

Beautiful unique location in a valley along a river surrounded by steaming mountains. On site restaurant was fabulous with some of the dishes cooked in the hotels hot spring. Service was excellent. The facilities seemed a little run down but clean. Pool was out of service but hot pots were excellent.

Don’t book this place if you are looking for a pool. The pool doesn’t work and based on the reviews it hasn’t be working for a while. We booked this hotel because we wanted a pool so it was disappointing. We loved everything else about the place. We saw northern lights and the scenery and walking trails are great! Hot tubs were great as well.

The pool looked dingy in person. One of the hot tubs was much nice than the other. Breakfast was good and friendly staff.

This property is amazing. Hannah greeted us at check-in and showed us around the property and to our room. We took advantage of their onsite restaurant, Varma, it was fabulous. The hot springs right outside our rooms were a welcomed oasis after days of traveling. Highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel is situated in such a beautiful area with natural hot springs all around. There’s a trail you can walk from directly next to the hotel which takes you to a lovely waterfall. You can go for a cold plunge into the river below after using the sauna. The hot tubs were lovely and relaxing with great views. Food was really good and the rooms were very comfy, would love to come back!

This was an amazing, beautiful property. Fabulous customer service. We really enjoyed the amenities (i.e. hot tub, pool, sauna, relaxation room). Perfect location for exploring Iceland. Our only real complaint was that the internet did not work in our room at all.

Stunning views. The heated pool and hot tubs are great. Good breakfast. They let me into the room early which was great because I was exhausted. If you’re looking for luxury with the most updated decor this isn’t that.

The landscape was beautiful with the sounds of the river right outside our room. It was fun taking a cold plunge in the river and the pool and hot tubs were great. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was wonderful.

We loved the uniqueness of this hotel. It’s beautiful on the river with 3 places to swim and relax. The rooms were clean and comfortable!

Property is very out of date. Room, not very clean, treacherous to get to with snow not cleared from walkways properly. Pool and hot tubs looked dirty and not well maintained. This place needs some serious work. Not impressed.

We had high hopes for this hotel. The pictures made it seem so well maintained and polished but the spa amenities left us feeling underwhelmed. The sauna and hot tubs didn’t seem to be cleaned, there were bugs and leaves in the water. The sauna didn’t get as warm as most do and there were no towels on the towel rack and it didn’t look like it was cleaned from the day prior. The property in general didn’t seem to be maintained well. The rooms however were very clean and well maintained. Overall, it was an average stay for an above average price.

Major disappointment. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. Iceland is an expensive country but nothing merits this huuuge cost for this 3-star hotel when we had stayed at a very luxurious hotel in Reykavik just 45 minutes drive away for less. The hotel seemed too worn, the area around it wasn’t at all what I was expecting. Seemed more like a construction place. The windows were full of spider webs, the chairs outside likewise. The cleaniness of the bathrooms subpar. The room was spacious but there were barely any hangers or drawers. The breakfast was the bare minimum. All of this had been alright if the rooms weren’t as expensive. We couldn’t believe that we had been staying at such a luxurious suite in Reykavik with an amazing breakfast for less than this. The extra 44 min drive is totally worth it.

Lovely breakfast and easy parking. rooms are cramped,no storage except coat hooks, one chair .bathroom cramped and others must leave room to allow someone to change . boutique not more garage extension feel not value for money

Decent hotel - great views and hot tubs! Onsite dining is also a 5+. I’m giving this place 4 stars out of 5 due to our room being too hot and humid (no way to make it colder - even with open window; couldn’t keep the door open due to biting flies outside)

Room was comfortable and quiet.

The surrounding area is beautiful. There is a river with small waterfalls and several geothermal hot springs. The breakfast was basic. Fresh scrambled eggs and decent coffee is all I really need. They did have both. This hotel could really be a gem, but the layout is lacking in storage space. I say this based on dozens of places we have stayed that have been half the size, but made incredible use of every little crevice. There’s very little space to place items in the bathroom. A plus was that there is a separate little foyer when you walk in with its own door to it and the bathroom. So when you hang all of your clothes, or wet shoes in that area, you can close the door so that it’s out of view. I booked this hotel because breakfast was included and a view with outdoor space is high on my “must have” list. Natural light and fresh air play a huge role in my choices for peace of mind. I'm not sure if towels are expensive or if there is a shortage, but when my partner asked for 4 more towels for the next day, she handed 3 dirty ones to the housekeeper. I was in the shower, so the floor mat was in there with me. The housekeeper insisted on having all 4 (in that moment) in order to get four. So we had to wait until I dried off just to get a fresh towel. This felt very awkward, but we just went with it. Life is a gift. While the hotel was located on the bank of a river, there was a very strong sulphur smell in the air from the geothermal activity. This was not the fault of the hotel, but made the stay less pleasant. Also, windows and door to deck had no screens so could not be opened because of insect activity. It was very warm when we were there and there is no AC.

This location exceeded our expectations -the views from the river properties were amazing, and there were walking trails right outside the hotel leading us to beautiful hills covered in flowers and geothermal hot springs. Great breakfast overlooking the river. A very special place!

Room had no inernet and limited power outlets for charging devices. Dinner quality was very good but restaurant was understaffed - took almost two hours to complete the meal and we skipped dessert because it would have taken another 30 minutes. Also paid almost $400 for the night and it didn’t come close to matching Black Beach Suites for the same price. Very disappointed and would not recommend

The bed was very comfortable. Nice to hot tub while overlooking the quaint river setting. The bathroom sink area was small but that was a minor inconvenience overall. The staff, restaurant and food was excellent.we felt pampered and recharged. Even caught a small display of the northern lights here.

We had no hot water. I called at 7 AM and was told that a manager would come by in 5 to 10 minutes. Nobody ever showed so I called again. I was told that's they would work on it And that someone will get back to me soon. Again nobody did. I went down to the reception area after 30 min or so and was told that there had been something wrong with the water in that room and they were trying to fix it. I continuously was told it would be twenty minutes. After almost 3 hours, I was finally given the chance to shower in a different room. The delay really messed up our day. This was the hotel we were most excited to stay at. Breakfast wasn't great. The hot tub was also cold. The staff told me one thing about the hot water but told my fiancé something different. I was told that they depend on the geothermal activity and that sometimes we can't help nature. My fiancee was told that they are dependent on the city for water. Overall a really terrible experience.

Beautiful location and wonderful rooms! The staff was incredibly accommodating when our rental car had a flat tire. They helped us greatly by assisting us with pumping the tire and gave us directions to a local auto shop. Thank you!!

Perfection! I watched the aurora directly from my bed! The staff took such a great care of me, the room was clean and cozy, food at the restaurant was excellent. I look forward to coming back.

This location was very scenic. Breakfast was included and it was good. The accommodation/ room was ok. The bathroom was very small. The Lady who checked us in was not very knowledgeable about the tv/ stations etc. Also, we had a terrible time locking and opening our door. It seemed to need repairs. I did tell the front desk receptionist before we left.

Excellent accommodations and view of the river. My husband and I both have food allergies and the restaurant went above and beyond to accommodate us, even with fresh baked gluten free bread! We would stay again in a heartbeat!

Fantastic location nestled amid the geothermal terrain. Nice facilities. Stella was friendly, helpful and welcoming to us when we arrived. Great breakfast.

What a location! Steam vents all around. Hot tubs/pools to bathe in. Great scenery and good food. And just far enough away from Rejkjavik.

We throughly enjoyed our visit to Frost and Fire Boutique Hotel. Situated by a river, the view from our room and terrace was beautiful. We loved relaxing in their hot tub and walking around the town. The receptionist provided us with excellent information about the area, and arranged for me to cook my eggs for breakfast in their geothermal waters. The hotel was also just blocks away from the Geothermal Park, where we go to see a geyser! We highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely unique hotel. Ideally located as a home base, to visit many sightseeing highlights. The hike up to the hot springs behind the hotel was wonderful. Would recommend to any friend. The breakfast buffet offered a nice selection, and the staff were amazing.

Mitte Juni 2023 verbrachten wir für 7 Tage unseren Aufenthalt in Frost and Fire Hotel und waren sehr zufrieden. Wir hatten ein Balkonzimmer mit Flussblick das sehr schön war, allein der Ausblick, traumhaft. Würde daher nicht die einfacheren Zimmer empfehlen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, was der isländischen Mentalität entspricht. Frühstück war sehr gut.Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet um die umliegenden Sehenswürdigkeiten zu erreichen. Entfernung von Flughafen Kevlavic 90km und Reykjavik 40km.

Excellent nature location

It was the most intimate and cutest lodging of all we had in Iceland. The restaurant was amazing! We had the 6 or 7 course dinner and it is the most memorable and delicious dinner in Iceland! Highly recommend it.

We loved our stay at Frost & Fire. Our room was small but it was comfortable. The staff was incredibly accommodating. The restaurant on site Varma was gourmet quality. There are several incredible hiking trails around the hotel. We really enjoyed the hot tub outside our room. We also had a Northern Lights experience from our terrace which was amazing.

Amazing setting by the river, the food was remarkable and the whole place is great.

It was an okay stay. In my opinion, the best part of the stay was the nice staff! The rest of the hotel is OK, but not great. We spent 270 USD on the room with the view over the river, unfortunately this stay was not worth it. We booked the room with the view over the river, unfortunately we did not see much of the river as it was dark most of the time. So do not bother booking the room with the view over the river if you are not planning to actually be sitting on your balcony between 11 am and 3 p.m. The toilet was not cosy and the toilet seat was cold. The pillows very actually rather bad, very flat and in the morning I was very stiff in the neck. Selection at the breakfast was okay, but it is far from the best hotel breakfast, however we were totally fine with that. Coffee was good and the plates very absolutely beautiful. The hotel restaurant was amazing, the meat I ordered was truly amazing and one of the best steaks I have had! So skip booking the room, just book something cheaper in Reykjavik, come here for the hike, warm river and the steak at the hotel restaurant.

Very nice place. Calm and peaceful. Good with hot tubs. Very nice restaurant and good breakfast.
