Lamphouse By Basecamp

The location of the hotel is amazing as it is within close walking distance of restaurants and stores. The room was satisfactory. Front desk hours are limited but you can request services through text. I received a coupon for 30% off at the cafe attached to the hotel but the cafe was not open during the time of my stay. Note that the only way to get ice is to ask someone at the front desk (only limited hours) and they will get some ice from the cafe. The room was clean and the beds were OK.

Everything was great. The only downside is that their hot tub gets closed on Sundays for maintenance but we enjoyed it on Saturday.

Hot tub was out of service during our stay , otherwise everything was great.

There was NOT one parking spot per unit, or at least needs to be supervised slightly frequently

This hotel needs an upgrade. Also, no ice machine.

Lamphouse runs differently than places I’ve experienced before but it seems efficient and the room was very comfortable. There’s no elevator, unfortunately, and if you choose “room with a view” you get the third floor. Words to the weary traveler!

Our stay at the Basecamp Lamphouse was disappointing to put it nicely. The room was extremely loud - you could hear each footstep from the upstairs rooms, the heater turning on and off sounded like a car backfiring and the walls/ceiling continuously creaked with the pipes. The hot water ran out in the mornings. There were long dark hairs found throughout the room. Be aware that housekeeping is not automatically done and you need to request garbage removal and towels 24hours in advance. The TV remotes didnt work and the hot tub was out of service. Overall this was an extremely poor quality stay and we would never return.

Hot tub broke again for the third time staying here! Won’t be coming back for awhile because this seems to be an ongoing issue

Easy access to town. Be aware of upstairs with no elevator. Request floor if you cannot haul your luggage.

Rooms are good, clean. Michelle was a grade staff. Only issue was no enough parking spots.

Nice property, great location. Room was fairly clean - did find some hair on the bathroom floor - and had some nice amenities. No housekeeping unless you ask for it. Staff was responsive and helpful!

Excellent location, very clean, amazing view, on the smaller side (queen suite), you can sit outside, but on a narrow walkway next to parking lot, and absolutely no house keeping after 4 requests. This was addressed to the manager who responded right after check out, so hopefully that won’t repeat itself. Just a note, no iron board on property if you are going to a wedding like us.

The Mountain View that was paid extra for was not worth it did not see such a great view. The property had a small path around , all muddy. The shower, toilet area and bed had hair on them. It was quiet. The light in the BR attached to a noisy noisy fan , no light just above shower. Only one mirror in BR which made it difficult with 2 women.

Keyless entry is very convenient. Housekeeping was not done during the entire stay. Old property.

Bed and bathroom were dirty, hair in the bathtub and on the tiles, bed blanket was dirty, had makeup stains of some sort, AC unit not working and room over all smelt very musty or old

The water in the shower took around 10 minutes to actually get luke warm, just annoying it took longer than usual. Hair on the carpet as well, not fully cleaned in my opinion

The staff was friendly, helpful and communicative. The room was nice and very clean. The hot tub was great. Very good value for the stay. Highly recommend and would use again.

Excellent location in downtown. Really appreciated the Nespresso set up. The bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the room was not very clean. The shower drain was extremely slow draining, the shower curtain appeared to be stained from the toilet, and the refrigerator wouldn’t get cold.

Great location ,close to dining options. Small quaint property . Air conditioner VERY noisy.Couldn’t have a conversation when it was running. Noisy outside activities not filtered.Room windows and walls very thin.

The room was small but nice & decent, the bed sheets and pillows just smelled a bit funny (like bleach, wasn't pleasant, noticed it the night on our first day) when we were laying on it while watching movies. Weirdly, there was no mirror above the sink, but fortunately there was a half body mirror just outside the washroom. Our stay was okay but the location was amazing though. Sound insulation was not great since we can hear the people's footsteps upstairs and also the people talking outside by the creek's trail. AC was also loud but we decided to turn it off then just use the portable fan they provided in the room. Overall, it was a decent stay, I'd get or prefer a room upstairs next time if we come back for Canmore/Banff.

A convenient location with beautiful views. Reception area was under construction, so cannot comment. Room lacks closets and bathroom vanity does not have space for personal items.

Gorgeous room very clean! But we were attached to reception and could hear them talking all day and evening. Also the blinds don't prevent light from coming in, still slept like a baby.

I loved my stay. I guess two of the thinkgs to improve is the noise level. The walls don’t seem very well insulated, and the heating is somewhat noisy and difficult to manage. I would come back though, the price was right.

The motel is really cute and the rooms are nicely done up. The location is prime, best in town as it is right on the Main Street and is walkable to everything, so that was very convenient. Check in and out was easy and seamless. The only downside was the old plumbing. It sounded like water was running or sloshing all night long very loudly, and anytime someone in the rooms next-door/downstairs would use the water, it sounded like the pipes were right in the room with you. It was very loud. Other than that, the location was amazing, the hotel was cute. Nice little hot tub. Maybe just bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

Its renovated hotel with a hot tub, very nice and clean, comfy bed.

The room itself was just okay but the pillows were awful and made for a horrible sleep. There was no parking the first night we were there so we were told to park on the street and just move the car before 8am, not very relaxing when you are on vacation and wanting to be able to sleep in. The location is great but the room doesn’t have any soundproofing so you hear everything from the road and people running outside your door. The heater in the room also would randomly start clanking in the middle of the night which made for a very disrupted sleep. I’ve stayed in Canmore many times and would suggest staying at other hotels in the area that are much better for the same price point. Would not stay there again.

Everything was great with our stay. The room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed provided. The only thing i didn't like was that there wasn't a check in office, it took awhile to get ahold of someone to check in. After that everything was great...nice easy check out!

Great location. Automated check-in process was excellent - once we figured out how it worked. Reserve, then respond to emails before you arrive, and the day of checkin you get a code. So easy. Don’t respond to the emails and it’s a bit of a mess - no on site staff the day we checked in.

Checkin was a nightmare. We were unable to complete the pre checkin as the app would fail to upload the photo for identity purposes. There is no reception on site and communicating with the property was very weak. They never responded to our messages, would not answer our calls or the call would drop off, or ring busy then drop off. Checkin was extremely clumsy and required much effort on our part. We were finally redirected to another property and they were finally able to resolve the issue……after a long wait in line. Would not recommend this property based on our checkin……extremely frustrating which is not what you need when traveling.

The hot tub at the lamphouse was out of service so the staff allowed us to use the hot tub at one of the other properties.

Our check in experience was not smooth at all. No one worked at this motel and the office was closed due to construction. When we called the number no one answered, we called many times. We couldn't check into our room without the code -- we never received the code/check in information via email 24hrs prior like we were supposed to. So disorganized and unsettling. The location and room was good

We didn’t understand how this place has this many excellent reviews…for almost $500 a night, we didn’t think it was worth the price. The good: location, rooms are big and bed is comfortable. The bad: 1. Non-existing front desk… there is a room for it but it was locked the entirety of our stay. They would only communicate via automated WhatsApp texts, which got very annoying. 2. Noise: We stayed on the first floor and we could hear our upstairs neighbours walking around - make sure if you stay in the lower lever, there are no rooms upstairs 3. Overall service: We saw other guest complaining that their tv didn’t work and again no one in the front desk to help. They (hotel management) would schedule a visit via text but that meant disturbing your own day just to accommodate them 4. House keeping: we were told house keeping service happens just once during your stay! For the price this is in my opinion unacceptable. We requested fresh sheets and told we would get them the next night- it didn’t happen For this price, I’d stay somewhere else next time… somewhere with actual guest services available.

It was a very nice place just online check in took over an hour to get into the room.

We received a text message the day of our check in notifying us that the front desk was being remodeled. We drove 4 hours to the hotel only to discover that there was no front desk. There was no sign or further instructions. We asked a waitress at the restaurant next door and were told that they had a steady stream of hotel guests asking the same question. Fortunately there were guests in the parking lot that gave us the address of another base camp property where we could check in. Once we checked into our suite I found stained carpets with runs in the rug Not exactly what I expected for the price of the hotel. The next day we were informed that our key code wouldn’t work and to drive to the other location to pick up a key. The following day we were informed of a fire safety check. The room was never cleaned in our 3 night stay, they provided 4 coffee pods for 2 guests to use over 3 nights. There was no sign to hand on the door to request service. These are all facts not criticisms. I want other guests to know what to expect. Btw, I did reach out to the front desk and requested a name, email address and phone number so that I could speak with the owners about these issues. I received an email 24 hours later apologizing for the room key issue and asking me to reach out if there were furthur issues. I chose to enjoy my vacation instead. The property is in a great location. The bed was comfortable. Other than that I would compare it to a motel 6 in Beverly Hills.

Lamphouse is all about location. You really can’t get closer to downtown Canmore where all the coffee shops, restaurants and stores are. There’s parking within the facility so there is no stressing about finding a spot to park. Place is clean and quiet, nice mountain views from the hot tub. Front desk area could / should be nicer since its customer’s first impression of the place. It was looking quite rough and did not reflect the accommodation. Staff is very nice, friendly and helpful.

Great room! Updated, clean, has everything you need. The location is excellent and the check in process was so easy! Nice to have a parking in such a convenient location.

Nice modernized place with nice toiletries and all the glassware/barware you could possible need. Amazing location with easy parking. Reception hours were a bit limited but luckily our room was free and we could get in shortly after they opened at 2:30pm (we had a wedding to get ready for). Crazy expensive for what it was but unfortuneately it's basically a "normal" price for Canmore these days.

Great spot in Canmore. The coffee at the coffee shop was amazing and a great location in town. My only complaint is the door code that was given to me didn’t work. I had to go get a key at the front desk. Small problem. Great stay.

This is a solid choice for staying in Canmore. It's right at the beginning of the main street where downtown section begin so it's a short walk to everything. There is a cafe/bakery on-site with a hotel front desk that's only staffed during check-in time. The room is more than adequate for our 1 night stay and we even look out to a river. The onsite jacuzzi is small, but cute. My only complaint would be regarding the virtual check in process. It was my first time staying here, and I didn't realize I was supposed to look out for a text for check in instructions prior to arriving. For what it's worth, it was written in an e-mail but I neglected it thinking it was just standard confirmation e-mail. Anyways, I did not have cell phone reception the few days prior to checking in, so I did not receive the text. Come check-in day, it took me a while to get someone on the phone to assist me. But once I received the check-in text, everything went smoothly. I actually really liked the keyless entry because that meant I didn't have to carry a key around with me.

Great location for a great price! Room was well equipped with glass mugs, drink ware, kettle, cocktail shaker, good bathroom amenities. I was unhappy that we were notified 30 minutes before check in that the hot tub was out of order and no options were given to us until I pushed to move to a hotel in same owner group. Michelle was helpful and did make some arrangements for us that were appreciated but better, advance communication would have been appreciated as there was lots of vacancy in town this night.
