Secrets Vallarta Bay Resort & SPA - Adults Only

Wow. We stayed a couple nights here looking for a relaxing place to workout, play tennis, sit/drink by the pool, enjoy some good food - and this checked all the boxes. The people and staff here are so kind and wonderful - impressively most are bilingual and english accommodated. We loved the various dining options across both Secrets & Dreams sides - incuding the cafes that serve yummy snacks and drinks. The pools are plenty, clean, beautiful, great places to chill - and the swim up bar is so fun. Through Expedia we got a free upgrade and we couldn't be more grateful for the ocean view & waking up to the sounds of soft waves crashing. The gym is AMAZING - the tennis court was quite fun (interesting texture, immitated clay we think). Thank you for a wonderful stay, relaxing and refreshing. Beautiful luxurious property - Secrets side is calming and spa-like. We are so grateful to your kind staff for treating us so wonderfully!

Staff was amazing. The one thing I was looking forward to which was the swim up bar pool was closed along with the one restaurant with ocean view closed !

This is one of my favorite properties to stay at. The staff goes above and beyond to meet your needs, specially if you stay in the Preferred section. The food options are also great! Even the buffet has a great assortment and different food themes. Unfortunately, 2 of their pools were under construction and I can wait till they are done and we can go back again. During this visit they had more entertainment than usual, which I appreciate since it's usually pretty boring around the pool area and at night. Music/party does end at 10 pm however there is a nightclub, small but serves its purpose if you are not ready to call it a night. Once again, the staff caries this resort and don't forget to show your appreciation by tipping.

Two of the pools at the adult section, including the main pool with the bar was closed for construction the entire view of the ocean was blocked and everyone was crowded into one adult pool.

Very well taken care of, nice rooms, great beds. Food was very good and great selection. Employees were excellent very courteous and helpful. Entertainment was ok, I expected more of variety shows. Lobby music at night was great. I did not like that swim up bar pool was dirty, was not clean

Loved the security of the resort and it was well staffed. Disappointed the main pool was out of service. 90% of the food was very good.

We booked a Preferred Master Suite with a Swimout. The room was nice a spacious and had a beautiful ocean view despite the noise of the construction below of the main pool being reconstructed from 7am -8pm. We were NOT INFORMED that the MAIN POOL was going to be CLOSED UPON OUR ENTIRE STAY! Muchless hear the noise outside our patio the we paid $5700 for! We booked this roomfor our 25th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY and requested Champagne upon Arrival and received nothing, not even a bottle of wine. Our Butler Jose was very nice, but did tell us he couldnot get us a BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE or WINE, thst we would need to pay for this. According to the advertisement it states a full mini bar in the room. I booked a PREFERRED MASTER SUITE to get above the normal amenities. A group we were with thst was in the Junior suites had the same Butler and had all the same options we had to choose from. Although, they booked through Costco and Costco informed them in advance the ms8n pool would be closed and gave them a $200 credit to use at the resort. We received NOTHING and soent $5700 for 4 night stay! I am demanding to speak to someone higher in Hyatt to get a credit toward my bill for Secrects at PV.

All Restaurants are not open every night. Seemed strange to me. So you have to plan dinner around which ones are open. Plus even in the indoor restaurants the temperature was 28deg Celsius or around 81 deg. F Lobby is very nice. Just need some ceiling fans to move some air around. Couldn’t even watch any of the entertainment due to it being so hot. I would say go during the winter months if you go. Pool water was so hot it was miserable. Was there July 26 - August 1. The entertainment staff at activated pool were amazing. Preferred club lever not worth it. Worse view than regular room. Only saw our butler the day we arrived and the day we left. The nighty entertainment was gunboat at best. Almost Line there was none at all

First of all, we had to sit through a 30 minute presentation which we did not like. The drinks were very weak. The pools had black mold. The night show was shared with the family resort next-door. The VIP treatment that we received was a bottle of there red wine that you can get in their lobby. Our cleaning lady was fantastic. I think her name was Itzel.

Awful experience! 2 of the pools were under maintenance, loud constructions noises while trying to relax, no beach view, had to walk the extra mile to get to the beach. Odd closing times for pool side bar etc., Staff is super pushy on timeshares. Food was the most horrendous thing I’ve ever tasted. We instead ate in town the whole trip after finding out how awful the food at the resort was. Oh ALSO, roaches in the rooms! Opt for an Airbnd instead and just eat at local restaurants!

We are just leaving today from an incredible stay at this hotel. The staff is amazing, the hotel is clean and safe, the food is very good and it is a wonderful location for an incredible vacation.

This is a great resort. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, from the receptionist who checked us in to all the dining staff to housekeeping. Very clean and well kept property. Just about everyone speaks enough English to understand and help you.

We just stayed a week and it was awesome! Hotel staff were very accommodating and the food is delicious. Only thing is the pools are a little murky. But our server by the pool, Junior, was amazing! Highly recommend and will be back!

People approach you daily to join their membership program, there was toe nails on the bathroom floor, the food was good tho. You couldn’t enjoy the beach without someone trying to sell you something every 5 minutes

As an Expedia gold member that was told to mention upon check in I was denied because I needed to be a platinum Expedia member. My ocean view I paid for was blocked by palm trees. The biggest view I got were the people in their private pool going at it which was very uncomfortable. The shower leaked underneath the door and didn’t drain causing the entire area to be soaked. Ruined one of my outfits. The toilet made sounds the entire time making it hard to sleep at night. We had a 6.2 earthquake and there was no follow up from the team to ensure everyone was ok or what to do.

Food was really good, staff was friendly and the overall atmosphere was nice. The only complaints were the staff seemed to always be trying to enter the room. Several times (even after housekeeping had come for the day), they would knock and try to enter. Woke us up a few times. Also, the walls/floors are thin, so you can hear things moving around and it's hard to sleep.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Secrets Vallarta resort that had garnered some positive reviews in the past. However, my experience left much to be desired. The resort was clearly showing its age, with poorly maintained rooms and a front desk staff that seemed less than willing to assist. The first impression upon arriving at the resort was good. The exterior of the building looked a bit outdated. As I entered the lobby, it was apparent that this place had seen better days. Arrived around 1pm, however, the front desk was not willing to provide an early check in. My family and I had to wait 2 hours. The resort lobby had no AC so the weather was hot and extremely humid. The problems continued when I reached my room (3rd) Expect to hear noise from the pool if your room is on floor 1-6. The furnishing appeared old, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired. It was evident that the room had not received the attention it needed to maintain a comfortable atmosphere. Upon discovering these issues, I asked to be switched and I got a room on the 6th floor. This room shared the same concerns as the previous, but even worse. The sink smelled like sewage. Nasty smell upon entering. I approached the front desk staff in the hope of switching to a different room. My request was met with resistance. The staff was uninterested and appeared inconvenienced by my request. I was told I needed to wait another 2 hours for another room to be available. Wish I could provide more

There are pros and cons to this resort Pros: The Staff: All the staff are eager to please, friendly and helpful. We were in the preferred section. Our Butler, Carlos Miranda and his helper, Jose Beccera, helped rescue what could have been a very bad week. The food was good at the restaurants and the Cabana (Bali Bed) that we rented was very nice. The waiters that took care of us at the Cabana were also very helpful and there when we needed them. The Grounds: the landscaping was very nice and kept up. It was a pleasure to walk around. Cons: When we arrived, we were sent to a sub standard room with a stone walled balcony. We could not believe that it was in the Preferred section. You couldn't see from the balcony without standing up. After quite a hassle, we were finally placed on the Preferred floor (15). The balcony was a normal, see through balcony, although small and narrow. The room was out dated with dingy pink curtains separating the bathroom from the bedroom. All the furniture looked dingy and grey. It was not cheerful or good looking in any way. One odd thing: There was a girl walking around with a hawk on her arm, but she never did anything with the hawk. I have been at resorts that have little impromptu shows with a hawk and handler.

Nice location, on the beach. Very well maintained pool and grounds. The beach is nice, no weeds but the sea-bed is very rocky. So, it is very hard to go in the water. The propery lobby is very nice with great view of the ocean but it has no airflow. Extremely hot and humid in late July, and management did not place any fans which made the conditions very miserable. The elevators also did not have any fans working. The rooms are spacious but the furniture is dated. Decent choice of restaurants, Tamarindo was excellent with good vegetarian options.

Only downside was the hard sell from Hyatt for their timeshare program on check-in. Everyone gets hit with it. After a long day of travel, it is very unwelcome.

Immediately upon arrival we were told that our room was not ready and then we were told to sit at a different table to wait. That is when the time-share pressure started. We told them we were not interested but they kept pressuring to go to the 'breakfast' tomorrow - we basically felt like we wouldn't get the keys to our room until we agreed. We finally agreed and had to pay money to attend the 'presentation' that we didn't want to go to. The next morning we attended the presentation but they attempted to stretch it longer than the agreed 90 minutes. We ended up leaving the presentation in tears ( even though we'd told them at the start of the presentation we were not interested) it was incredibly intimidating. The 'coupons' we got for attending the presentation were hard to use because the person who could redeem them was hardly around and staff had no idea when or where we should go. The restaurants were OK but they all tasted the same/the portions were so small. The buffets were better but all the meat products were subpar. We also ordered room service a few times but it never came. The rooms felt clean and dry. The AC worked great, and the view from the resort was incredible. Staff were pleasant and nice - getting off the resort was AMAZING. Seeing the jungle and the malecon, shopping at the markets/malls and eating at local restaurants. All of those things are within walking distance. Great location to get off the resort.

Overall was a great vacation. What we did not like was being hounded to sit through a timeshare talk and not taking no for an answer

I was NOT prepared for the persistent push from the staff sitting next to the Concierge desk to sign up for a membership by listening to a 90 minute speech! If I agreed to listen to the speech, I would be awarded the excursion at a discounted rate. I wasn't aware that this was part of Expedia's vacation package. I was inquiring about excursions and the staff was very misleading and confusing about what they were offering and what the requirements were. A lot of trickery (bait and switch) and the language barrier added to the confusion. I did not attend the 90 minute membership buy-in speech and I will never stay at Secrets again. Additionally, I will not purchase another vacation package from Expedia again. Hotel stays are okay but certainly not a vacation package....

The people were real friendly, very helpful. The only drawback that I would say is there are hard selling to try to get you part of the property timeshare or whatever they were trying to sell they did that with me and my wife and my sister and her husband, that was a little annoying, but other than that, it was a great place to stay.

Love that the beach was easily accessible. We had everything we could possibly need in our room and included overall in the booking.

This property is so noisy! They're right on the beach so you can hear everything. Music blasting after 10pm when you have to be up at 6am for excursions. Hard to find food when you want it becsuse they close restaurants at weird times. Workers will tell you a place is open when it's not. Also finding the Asian and Mexican restaurant is hard. The preferred lounge seemed cool, but the food was the same every day and not very good. They even closed the adults onlt buffet one night just for a wedding. Seems like this resort is just for weddings and partying. Not relaxing at all. Also bugs in the room and lizards inside. I expected better for a "5 star resort"

Food could be better. Staff and service were excellent. Downside to the convenient location is beach is public with lots locals peddling items blocking the view.

Food and staff amazing, great location lose to airport and a 20 min walk to the sea wall. Only negative is the entertainment is boring.

Great location about 1.5 miles or a $6 cab ride to the malecon. Close to the airport 15 mins if there’s some traffic. The Versailles neighborhood is right up the street with a lot of options for food if you do not want to do AI everyday. Rooms were clean a bit noisy at night from the entertainment at dreams or secrets depending on the night but everything wrapped up by 11. Pools were clean and the entertainment staff fun and friendly. A bell rings at the pool when a whale is spotted if u r there during their migration. Lots of food options. Top notch security when coming and going the gatekeepers take ur room number each time and if you’re with an uber or cab the cab number and driver name. Would stay here again!

Their service and food options are great. They could do better with their entertainment selections but overall its a great resort.

I enjoy wine with dinner having stayed in 3 other all inclusive they each offer a wine list with dinner.the lists were not top shelf,but we’re more than adequate. Secrets offers at all location 2 Chilean wines which I would not pay more than $4.00 for. Ruined my vacation.

Beautiful property with a great view. Staff was extremely attentive especially our Personal Butler Carlos Miranda and his partner Jose Becerra. Things I wish were a bit better were food and entertainment. A show on the beach or just not the same repetitive entertainment night after night. The best food I had was the French restaurant and the poolside grill. The worst was Italian.

Staff and service was excellent. Food was good usually except for a couple of restaurants that missed the mark. The fish at Oceana was overcooked and dry. Tepenyaki restaurant was good, but the chef cooking the food started out with a very sharp long tined fork flying across the grill at a man seated beside it. The chef picked the fork up off the floor and did not clean it before using it. The flames were very hot and close to we who were seated around the grill. I was not comfortable with that. Our room 1814 had a very leaky shower that caused water to seep out all over the floor and to run a long way toward the bed. There was noise from a construction area behind our room that started every evening around 11 - 12 pm. It was loud beeping and crashing noises. Beach vendors were annoying with their constant approaches toward us to sell their goods as we sat under umbrellas by the pool. Entertainment was sparse in the evenings. For the price paid to stay here, I expected better entertainment in the evenings.

The people who work at the hotel are fabulous! They are all hardworking and energetic to cater to your every need. We were happy with the pool layout, although the jacuzzis weren't hot at all, and the staff had plenty of classes/events to keep you busy. We were disappointed, however, in the meals and drinks. Everything seemed to be bland or watered down. The only way to get a good drink was to specifically request a top-shelf liquor, but then is was mixed too strong. All the food that was supposed to be hot was served lukewarm. All of it! Not sure why they do that. The food also tasted rather bland to us. It was like they were afraid to add too many spices to it. There were also a couple of attempts at sales pitches to get us to buy into some type of long term vacation plan, which we didn't appreciate.

Staff was excellent. Dining options are great. You can’t go wrong staying here.

This stay was poor, we wound not visit this hotel again, Our Room backed to clearly a void between hotels that is used for workers or industrial, not only was it an eyesore it was extremely loud, with a truck running 24/7. The door to our hotel room you could see daylight around the entire door sealing no outside noise. It was not relaxing, Many of the restaurants are closed at a decent hour and almost nothing open past 10/11 to eat at either of the hotels that are adjoined. The food was also Mediocre at best, with the Asian Hotel being the only really good option. I added to all reservations that we were celebrating my Wife's 40th Bday ZERO Mention of it at the hotel, they dod nothing, which I thought was a bit under whelming considering all booking and upon check in was relayed. We did visit two places via Vallarta Adventures who were fantastic but had nothing to do with the hotel. I will leave them outstanding reviews. Overall, this hotel underwhelms, The Spa offered Hydrotherapy which we love but wanted $109 per person a day, which is FREE at Le Blanc Hotels. We were spoiled by them in Cabo. Last Comment, We went into the snack shack on way out, Ice Cream section Closed it is in the same room with other snacks, they wont serve it at 10am but standing next to it, but the bar is open for Tequila shots. It was an overall underwhelming stay.
