Richmond Hotel Asakusa

Very helpful and welcoming staff! Perfect location - easily accessible using the train, plenty of food options right outside the hotel, 2 short blocks from the Asakusa shrine, and an easy 1 mile walk to Skytree. The hotel is a bit on the older side and could use some upgrades, but overall pretty clean.

Great hotel in a super location. The hotel is a minute or two from Sensoji temple and the Asakusa shopping districts, with plenty of food outlets and shopping nearby. It is perfectly situated to beat the crowds. All the staff were very professional and welcoming, the reception staff were particularly helpful with organising luggage forwarding to our next hotel. The room size (double) was decent for two people, and the amenities at reception and in the room were great. The only negatives are very small. There are only three washing machines, so we had to pop by a few times to make sure we could get a machine. And the bathroom and some of the room decor looked a little dated, although it should be noted that everything worked correctly. Those were the only two small issues I had, because everything else was very positive. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and the staff and location were superb, so I would happily stay here again.

Great location in the heart of Asakusa. Most of the staff were good, generally the hotel was very good except the room itself which was very small! Barely enough room to open suit cases. Overly complicated system for dealing with house keeping. The attached restaurant had odd hours and rarely seemed to be open when we wanted to grab something quickly. Overall good experience except for the tiny room.

Staff were friendly and helpful, room was spacious and clean. There was free water and a vending machine in my floor. The hotel offered bath salts, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, perfect after a busy day walking. Highly recommend the hotel as it's near Sensō-ji temple, great for morning or evening strolls.

Amazing hotel! Great location! Good quality amenities (bath salt was a nice detail that I used at night during my stay) the shower gel is amazing - I even bought the same brand to bring back to Spain). 100% recommend! I will definitely repeat.

Otroligt bra läge. Trevligt rum och med det lilla extra som tofflor, pyjamas, mobilladdare, gratis vattenflaskor mm. Bra städat och man kunde styra själv hur ofta och i vilken omfattning man ville ha det. Varierande frukost med många alternativ. Tvättmaskiner tillgängliga för egen tvätt och tork av kläder. Vi är supernöjda med vistelsen.

friendly staff and great location under construction/remodeling so understandable there was some areas that were dirty, dusty and not finished

Room cleaning needs improvement. Found many hairs on bath towels, bath tub, and bathroom walls on my check in day. Not good impression. Unable to adjust room temperature until called front desk to complain and was fixed the next night. Overall stay was ok. Very good location and quiet. Front desk very helpful and professional.

This was my worst hotel experience to date. The hotel barely provides the most basic accommodation—everything else falls far short. The cleanliness of the room was appalling; we found bed bugs, and a few days earlier, my daughter had been bitten on the knee. When we reported it, the front desk staff initially just handed us a duvet cover. It wasn’t until we went down to the lobby a second time and insisted on a bug-free bedding replacement that they finally provided one. While the room was admittedly cheap, the lack of hygiene was unacceptable. I would strongly discourage anyone from staying here

The perfect stay. Asakusa generally, and Senso-ji specifically, is my favorite part of Tokyo. On a previous visit I noticed this hotel overlooking Senso-ji and later checked out reviews on several trusted sites. Afterwards, I knew I found a winner. The rooms ending in 02 on the fifth floor or higher have outstanding views from windows on two sides of the room. In their site, look for “view rooms” and reserve it fast. My room was small, but so what? The room was adequately, but no microwave. My next trip will be for five weeks and I’ll just buy one and then just leave it behind. The bed and pillows were good. The room also came with a pants presser. Very good. Use Google Translate to decipher the toilet and air conditioner controls. Everything was clean and cared for. The staff was courteous, kind and professional to a fault. The hotel is very close to a zillion restaurants. McDonald’s is two blocks away and open 24 hrs. Family Marts, 7-11s and Lawsons abound. Asakusa train, not subway, Station is about a ten minute walk. Don Quixote and UniQlo are a two minute walk away. A tiny police station, a koban, is a minute away. The cops told me the majority of their work is lost and found stuff. Crime is almost unknown. On weekends, the area is incredibly crowded, but Tokyo handles crowds with ease. I will make this hotel my new home when in Toyko.

We loved our stay at the Richmond in Asakusa. We could get to three different train stations within 10 minutes and the area was nice and quiet, a good break from the bustle of other places in Tokyo. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially with check-in. We also really loved the breakfast, which had something for everyone. Some items were more traditionally Japanese (soup, noodles, grated yam, and both raw and cooked fish) and various items were available if you wanted a more western breakfast with eggs and hashbrowns. They also had to-order matcha pancakes, which were delicious and not overly sweet. Salad, some cereal, yogurt with many topping options, fruit, and juices were all available too. They kept everything stocked well and we had something a little different every day. The room was small but just enough for us. Unfortunately we don’t think the air conditioning worked but we opened the windows and slept like babies. The bathroom had all the needed amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash), and the bed was comfortable. They also provided pajamas and slippers for lounging. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend this place for visitors who want a more quiet place of town to stay but who still want all the amenities and amazing food Tokyo has to offer.

It's close to things, and literally next door to Hoppy street; the heart of Asakusa is just to the East and South, all of it very easily walkable. The one downside is that it's about a 10-minute walk from the main Asakusa train station, and the closest exit (that Google Maps directs you to) has several flights of stairs that are a PITA to navigate with bags. (I was on a 3-week biz trip, so had two suitcases plus a camera bag and computer bag to lug, so it was a significant hassle getting up and out of the station.) The main Asakusa station is the one you need to use to get to/from Haneda airport, so it's a nuisance - but you'd have to deal with this with most any other hotel in the area as well. The walk to the hotel itself isn't bad. The Ginza line is good for getting other places in Tokyo, and the Tawaramachi station is closer. Asakusa is an interesting place to visit as it's on of the oldest areas of Tokyo, with a lot history. OTOH, it's far from Shibuya and Shinjuku, which are areas I like to visit when I'm there. I'll probably stay on the westside next time, but the Richmond is a great place to stay if you're visiting Asakusa.

Great location in the heart of Asakusa. The rooms must have been well insulated , they were very quiet. Comfy bed. Friendly and helpful staff. The room was small but that's to be expected, and it was well designed to make the most of the space available.

Location is good, right in Asakusa with lots of shopping and food around. Very walkable area with so much to see and do. Hotel was clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. We did struggle to get the air conditioning to work, and the water pressure in the tub and shower was terrible. We never spoke to staff about these issues, so perhaps they could have been fixed. The air conditioner may have just been user error on our part. However, the room was comfortable, and the largest room we had during our two-week trip.

Big room considering Tokyo Asakusa

Compact room but comfortable bed and bathroom and a brilliant location right in Asakusa and very close to the big temple - in fact, the hallway window had a great view right over the temple.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel in Asakusa—absolutely perfect for what we needed. The location is ideal, right in the heart of Asakusa with easy access to shops, restaurants, and public transportation. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even assisting us with a seamless luggage transfer to our next hotel in Kyoto, which made our travel experience much smoother.

This hotel was very good. The hotel staff was also very helpful. There was a little bit of a communication issue the first day, my japanese is still not very strong. But Mr. Kim saved us, and spoke excellent english. The location is very good. Personally, I find Asakusa to be a little bit busy to maneuver, with too many tourists for me, but in terms of location, if Asakusa is where you wanna be, the Richmond is perfectly located. The area and temples are also very nice at night when there are no people around. The only downside with the hotel itself, was a problematic AC system that refused to go below 28-30C the first night. But they moved me into a larger room, and the AC worked fine there, so it was likely just a unfortunate temporary problem, and they let me stay there in the new room for the duration of my stay. Which was very nice.

We recently stayed at this wonderful hotel in Asakusa and were absolutely delighted with the entire experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with warm hospitality and genuine kindness that made us feel at home right away. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to Senso-ji Temple, Nakamise Street, and several train stations, making it easy to explore the rest of Tokyo. Despite being so central, the hotel was peaceful and provided a quiet retreat after a long day of sightseeing. Our room was spotless, modern, and well-designed with thoughtful touches that made our stay extra comfortable. We especially appreciated the comfortable beds, the high-quality toiletries, and the little amenities like tea, slippers, and a humidifier. What truly stood out was the service—every staff member we encountered went out of their way to be helpful, from offering sightseeing tips to assisting with luggage and transportation. Their attentiveness and professionalism were top-notch. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay in Tokyo. This hotel offers incredible value and a memorable experience. We will definitely return the next time we visit Japan, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Asakusa

Excellent location right on Hoppy Street. Close to everything. Extremely peaceful and quiet area. Friendly staff. Room was a little bigger than other hotels I’ve stayed at in Japan. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great location

There are all kinds of shopping stores and restaurants around this hotel.

Location is pretty good, at the heart of Asakusa around a lot of shops, restaurants and Don Quijote. It's a little bit far from a train station than I would like, around 10 minutes of a walk but on the way theres a lot of food and convenience stores you can drop by. Room felt old, a lot of scratches on the walls and old furniture. The room also had that old carpet smell and the bathroom floor looked dirty. Staff were helpful and very nice. Biggest complaint is the air conditioning, at night it seems they turn off their A/C (I had room 405). I had set the thermostat to 19 degrees but after a while the room temperature was still at 26 degrees !! After bringing this to the staffs attention, they said sometimes there is an error with the A/C and later I just asked for a portable fan. They did however offer to change our room.

El hotel en general estuvo muy bien, solo informar que si compran el desayuno buffet es lo mismo todos los días, no hay variedad así que te puedes aburrir si te hospedarás muchas noches

This hotel is steps away from Senso-Ji temple so it's really convenient for us to walk there early in the morning when there's no crowd. Hotel room is reasonable sized compared to the other hotels we stayed in Japan. Breakfast is good and my kids really like it.

Super hôtel, idéalement situé à deux pas du magnifique temple Senso-Ji. Personnel très sympathique et toujours prêt à aider. Les chambres sont de taille correcte pour Tokyo et offre tout le confort (frigo, bouilloire, plateau de courtoisie, presse-pantalon et même une multiprise). Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre séjour dans cet hôtel, que nous recommandons vivement. Seul le petit-déjeuner était moyen, le buffet n'étant pas assez vite regarnir...

My son loved our room. We got the room with the skytree tower view with 2 twin beds. We got the buffet breakfast which was excellent. The area is walkable to sights and we felt that we've immersed ourselves into the Japanese culture in some level.
