I would stay here again. The room was really interesting and unique and was good value for downtown Vancouver. There was also a roof top garden and sauna. The staff were very friendly and there were baked goods available in the morning. It was also just a short walk from the bus stop. The only down side is that it is right on the border between a touristy area (Gas Town) and a rather sketchy area. However, it is easy enough to avoid the sketchy area by heading west out of the hotel for a block or so before going north towards Gas Town.

The management staff was friendly upon arrival and check in was smooth. However, when I mentioned where we park he directed us to an outside pay parking area a block away from the hotel. I told him I’m pretty sure I read the description mentioned underground secure parking. He told me that they don’t provide that service anymore. So heads up! You will have to park your vehicle in an unsafe parking lot which is not meant for overnight parking. Not cool! There were crack heads lining the street from the parking lot to the hotel entrance. The hotel room was not as in the pictures. We booked a 2 double bed room for 4 people and what we got was a one bed with a separate pullout. The wifi password was never working. Not a clean room and the bathroom towel bar was almost falling off the wall. Things in the room needed maintenance. We would NOT stay here again.

We really enjoyed our 1 night stay at Skwachàys Lodge Indigenous hotel and wished we would have had time for an extra night because the hotel and amenities were amazing! They have the coolest rooftop sauna area, and our room was clean and unique, decorated so perfectly. Don’t let negative reviews of the area scare you off. I’m sure depending on the day it can seem a little rough…but we didn’t find it bad at all. The 5 minute walk to Roger’s Place arena really made it so convenient, and there is so much to see and do in that area. Highly recommend and will stay again!

Although you need to be aware of your surroundings in this neighborhood, the hotel itself is very secure. Great friendly welcoming staff. The room was an adequate size, clean and had everything you needed. If you needed anything else, the front desk person was more than accommodating. Loved the artwork inside the room and also in the gallery downstairs. Beautiful sauna and waterfall on the 6th floor. Plus you get a continental breakfast too! Will definitely stay here again when possible. Close to lots of amenities.

I really enjoyed my stay, there was an error when they were trying to charge my card the morning of check-in and we had just arrived in vancouver so we went in, it was to early to check in but they took our bags and called when our room was ready, very friendly encounter. The room was beautiful, clean and the sauna was a great ammenity on the rooftop patio, but the rooftop patio needed some attention. The hotel is very close to east hastings but is easy to avoid and also well located in downtown Vancouver for dining and tourism, would definitely stay again.

Lovey staff, decor is beautiful reasonable price and super cliose to Rogers arena about 5 min walk. Only downside is no parking on site but there is a 24hr parkade a couple blocks away.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The he room was nice. The bed was very comfortable. The location was great for walking to many of the restaurants and attractions. The floor in our room was not very clean. I was happy that I had brought slippers…It wasn’t dirty, but seemed very dusty.

I have nothing to say bad for my room but I booked two rooms. One for my friend but didn’t expect hers was different from ours. She needed to climb a long stairs going to her room and carrying her 50lbs luggage wasn’t fun. Her towels too had some undesirable stains. Also the area is downtown so I guess I didn’t expect how dirty (literally my husband stepped on dog poop) and people high on drugs even on broad day light. So if you are travelling with your kids I don’t suggest this hotel just because of the location.

Our stay at Skwachàys Lodge in Vancouver was fantastic. From the cleanliness to the staff and service - I would struggle to find a fault with the overall experience of the hotel. We enjoyed being able to purchase artwork and gifts for loved ones from the selection they had to offer in the hotel lobby. I was also able to leave my luggage here for free in a secure location whilst I explored the city on my final day. In terms of the surrounding area it is worth noting that there is an issue with homelessness / drug use. Although we did not have any issues during our stay, we found that there were certain roads near the hotel that should be avoided at night - This in no way effects the service we received at the hotel, with Skwachàys Lodge going out of their way to make visitors feel safe with doors that could only be opened via key fobs. Overall, we would stay here again!

The room was clean and neat, very updated. Front desk personnel were very helpful and polite. Bed was comfortable although bed had a wooden break front that was useful for placing items on, but for watching tv, it obstructed the view. Tv should be moved a little higher. View of adjoining building left a lot to be desired. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, safe, blow dryer we’re in room. Breakfast was continental and convenient. Building was very secure but area was extremely scary. Once we checked in, we didn’t want to venture out until morning to check out. Would recommend hotel but area needs help!!

Unser Zimmer selbst war schön eingerichtet und sauber. Das Hotel insgesamt war auch ordentlich und wir hatten immer freundliches Personal! Das Frühstück ist sehr einfach, aber für einen kurzen Aufenthalt auch total in Ordnung. Für die künftiges Besucher möchte ich nur anmerken, dass die Umgebung nicht unmittelbar das klassische Downtown Bild widerspiegelt und leider zur weniger schönen Seite Vancouvers gehört. Wenn man darauf Wert legt, sollte man seine Wahl überdenken. Anderenfalls hat man mit diesem Hotel eine praktische Lösung. Man kommt trotzdem überall gut hin.

El hotel tiene personalidad, con las decoraciones de distintos artistas. El desayuno sencillo pero suficiente. El personal encantador te dan sugerencias y ayudan en todo lo que pueden. También te avisan sobre las zona, ya que es un poco insegura, especialmente por la noche, pero los Uber son asequibles y te dejan en la puerta. El metro está a unos 7 min andando. Respecto a la habitación, la nuestra tenía una escalera interior, a tener en cuenta para personas con movilidad reducida.

Very unique setting in what used to be an Indigenous gallery. Wall art in the room was also very unique. Only 9 minute walk to Rogers Arena. We were on the 6th floor and wifi was spotty at best. Continental breakfast was definitely nothing to write home about.

We stayed in the King Salmon room and it was beautiful! The room was large and spacious. We had real coffee cups in the cupboard and delicious coffee to make. We had been traveling almost 2 weeks and I must say their toilet paper was fabulous! My tushy was grateful for this plush amenity. The area is a little rough. We literally walked by two syringes in flames, on the sidewalk, just doors away from the hotel. Once inside, we felt safe.

The place was wonderful. Modern but artistically themed and very clean. A lot of thought was put into the decor. The neighborhood is pretty bad but the hotel was grest as was the staff. Only quibble. There is a pretty loud plumbing noise coming from the bathroom when others flush, I was ok with ear plugs but this is an issue. Thanks

This hotel is a beautiful boutique place in downtown Vancouver, opposite International Village and a couple minutes walk from Chinatown skytrain station. The room was alot larger than we were expecting and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful, we loved the coffee, and complimentary breakfast was unexpected and appreciated. The history of this building provided by the person who checked us in was interesting to learn about. The art of the residents was also beautiful to see and learn about. We would definitely stay here again. Some will say it is in a bad area and homeless people etc... While it is true that sometimes homeless people are around we did not see any near the hotel during our stay, nor does it negate the convenience and comfort of the hotel itself. Visitors to Vancouver should be aware that yes there is a large homeless population but no it isn’t dangerous. If you want a 5star hotel with security who keep the streets outside the door clear for your grand entrance then go and seek that out. Thabk you to the hotel for a delightful overnight stay

Very clean. 6 blocks from the skytrain if you're walking. Our room had 14 stairs to climb up (with your luggage) when we were told "some rooms have a few stairs in them". We are 73 YO and walk with a cane. Not good. Otherwise, nice hotel.

This was an adorable boutique hotel. The area is a bit sketchy though with a noticeable homeless population. We had excellent service and the bed was very comfortable. Our room had stairs, so make sure you tell them if you have mobility issues.

The hotel staff were SO great - accommodated requests, gave recommendations, etc. the property itself was nice and the rooms were spacious. I only had two complaints: the room’s AC units are very loud and when they kicked on in the middle of the night they’d wake me up. Two: while the area is very walkable to Gastown and Chinatown areas, there’s also a lot of people hanging out on the street by the hotel. I didnt have any issues, everyone was minding their own business and no one was aggressive, but it was still a little bit unsettling.

We stayed there to attend a conference. It was located well for us to walk to both the conference center and the BC Stadium. The staff was responsive, sending us up more great coffee pods, hangars, etc promptly when requested. We would stay there again if in Vancouver

Don't let the area around the hotel deter you this is a great property with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and well maintained. Would have no problems staying here again.

The low rating around the property isn't really the property's fault, it's just the city's poor leadership letting crime and social decay flourish in the area The low rating for staff is due to two incidents; while still in bed mid-morning, WITH the "do not disturb" placard on the door handle, staff attempted to gain entry to the room for cleaning. I had to specifically yell at them not to come in, as I was still in bed. After leaving mid-morning to go out into the city, I left the "do not disturb" placard on the door handle. Despite this, cleaning staff still entered the room. I'm not saying anything was mishandled, but there was no need for the staff to enter the room and I'd have much preferred that they didn't -- THAT'S WHY I USED THE PLACARD. Most everything else was fine, but these are real basic things that need to be respected of your guests privacy.

We arrived late at night due to flight delays. The person on site was not a hotel employee, but a security guard from an outside company. The hotel leaves a list of reservations and room numbers with the security guard so they don’t have to employ someone overnight. The security guard wasn’t given anything for my reservation, and he didn’t know what to do. He finally got someone from the hotel on the phone who told him what room to give us and where to find the key. We went to the room and the key didn’t work. The guard didn’t know how to fix, so he had to let us in the room personally and we never received a working key. The AC didn’t work in the room, and it was too hot to sleep in. I asked the guard for a different room, and he didn’t know which rooms were unoccupied, if any. He eventually got a hotel employee to answer the phone and assigned us a different room without a key, but at least the AC worked. I absolutely do not recommend.

I arrived at the hotel at 8pm after a long distant flight, but the reception was closed. I tried calling on the buzzers listed as reception, and to the offices - basically everything contact listed but no one picked up. I also tried to telephone many many times and no one answered. This went on for nearly an hour by which time my phone was nearly out of battery. All the time i was waiting outside exhausted in the rain and being harassed by a drug addict.It was terrifying and absolutely one of the worst experiences i have ever had whilst traveling. You are supposed to arrive at a hotel and feel safe but i was traumatised. When i was finally let in, i was exhausted and needed sleep - i had been awake for 24 hours. I stayed the night and checked out early the next morning as i didn't feel it was safe - it seemed like there was no staff. Had i not had this awful experience on arrival i might have stayed as the hotel was basic but clean. The pillows were very uncomfortable, but honestly i am not a fussy traveller. Its just this place felt unsafe with no staff. I couldn't risk being locked out again.

There was no front desk person to check us in. The security person was nice, but did not know a lot about the hotel. The room key had a wireless key that opened the front of hotel, but no one said anything about how to get into the room. I had to go down twice to get in the room. Fantastic customer service - held our bags and offered early check in or highly recommended room if we wanted to wait until regular check in time . Nice little breakfast and coffee that we weren’t expecting. Walked to the cruise port - about 15 mins . Easy to get around , homeless people around but not bothersome whatsoever . Have already recommended and will definitely return in the future . A+

The hotel is close to Gastown and is within walkable distance to Waterfront station. Rooms are big and well equipped. They also provide simple breakfast like muffin and coffee. Price is relatively lower than other hotels in downtown. But one issue is it’s near a community centre and Tim Hortons where homeless people and drug addicts gather. Feel a bit unsafe during my stay.

This hotel is a beautiful boutique place in downtown Vancouver, opposite International Village and a couple minutes walk from Chinatown skytrain station. The room was alot larger than we were expecting and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful, we loved the coffee, and complimentary breakfast was unexpected and appreciated. The history of this building provided by the person who checked us in was interesting to learn about. The art of the residents was also beautiful to see and learn about. We would definitely stay here again. Some will say it is in a bad area and homeless people etc... While it is true that sometimes homeless people are around we did not see any near the hotel during our stay, nor does it negate the convenience and comfort of the hotel itself. Visitors to Vancouver should be aware that yes there is a large homeless population but no it isn’t dangerous. If you want a 5star hotel with security who keep the streets outside the door clear for your grand entrance then go and seek that out. Thabk you to the hotel for a delightful overnight stay

It’s a unique property in a very sketchy neighborhood, with few tourist amenities close by. We knew the hotel did not include food or beverages, and were attracted by the native art program associated with it. Public transport was easily available, so the location was not a big issue, and we did not feel threatened. A good deal overall.

Check in was quick & even though we were very early, they stored our luggage so we could sightsee & have lunch. Each room was decorated differently & unique! The hotel was an easy walk to “Chinatown”, Steam Clock or Hop on & off bus & Several restaurants

My daughter and I stayed here for the proximity to BC stadium which was great! The staff and the quality of the room were great but the surrounding area did not feel safe late at night. All in all I would likely stay again for a similar situation

Loved the uniqueness of this hotel with the First Nations art throughout and featured artists in gallery on 1st floor. Convenient location to walk everywhere. Spacious double beds room. Included breakfast is very basic. Front desk staff very helpful including restaurant recommendation in Chinatown that we enjoyed. Would stay here again.

Very unique setting in what used to be an Indigenous gallery. Wall art in the room was also very unique. Only 9 minute walk to Rogers Arena. We were on the 6th floor and wifi was spotty at best. Continental breakfast was definitely nothing to write home about.

It’s important to know that there is a lot of homelessness and drug use in the area but we walked back from the concert at 11:00pm with no trouble. This hotel is a great option for accommodation close to the Roger’s Arena for concerts. The hotel is well kept & has beautiful artwork throughout. The bed was comfortable and the room had great amenities. The croissants and coffee in the morning were delicious. We would stay here again.

One block away was where the homeless and addicts gather. Breakfast was meager. No coffee for both mornings we were there. No filter apparently. One morning no breakfast put out until 9 am. No one at desk when we returned from sightseeing . Had to wait awhile because front door was locked. This was before 8 PM The art work was delightful. Concept of the hotel is appealing but was not executed well.

Although you need to be aware of your surroundings in this neighborhood, the hotel itself is very secure. Great friendly welcoming staff. The room was an adequate size, clean and had everything you needed. If you needed anything else, the front desk person was more than accommodating. Loved the artwork inside the room and also in the gallery downstairs. Beautiful sauna and waterfall on the 6th floor. Plus you get a continental breakfast too! Will definitely stay here again when possible. Close to lots of amenities.

Walking distance from Rogers Arena, however this is not in the best area. A lot of drugs in the area and a lot unhoused people nearby. I wouldn’t count on the breakfast in the morning; it’s not the best.

Highly recommend this hotel. The indigenous artwork in the lobby is beautiful but what a wonderful surprise to see the indigenous artwork in our room (we stayed in the King Salmon which had a beautiful mural on the wall which lit up)! The continental breakfast consisted of homemade yogurt dishes, banooks, and quiche. The only thing we did not like were the homeless people camped outside near the entrance, but they did not cause problems.
