Facility was nice, clean and had a modern feel. Room was nice and well appointed, a bit small but great for the price. Breakfast was acceptable but a bit pricey at ¥2000 per person. There were plenty of eating options at the Nijo Train Station which is directly across the street. My biggest issue with our stay was the laundry; there are 5 machines which are washer/dryer combo units which dispense detergent/softener automatically. The cost is ¥600 for a wash and dry and takes 2 hours. After the cycle was completed my clothes were still soaking wet. Add on dry was ¥100 per 30 minutes, after 3 hours we finally gave up and hung our clothes in the room. Plus the softener made the clothes feel damp and off.

We really liked this property, beds were large and pretty comfortable. Breakfast was good but didnt change much. Endless soda, coffee and tea was great. Many in our group used the baths and loved them. Across the street from nijo station and bus stops so great access to transportation

Unlimited free coffee, tea and flavoured sodas was a nice touch, saved going out to buy coffee every morning. Laundry machines were handy however the dryer portion took long, so we hung some of our clothes to dry in our room. Beds were clean and decent comfort. Bathroom and shower was fantastic.

Easy checkin and checkout, staff efficient and the hotels opposite train station which is less that 10 mins from Kyoto main station. Small but tasty breakfast selection, hotel clean, small gym and indoor onsen. Only minor complaint is that room always smelt smoky, otherwise good value.

After our tour in Kyoto ended we extended our stay for another 5 days and we need something more affordable and the Royal Park Canvas Nijo just fit our budget. We took the train from Kyoto station to Nijo and was pleasantly surprised that we can see the hotel from across the station and good thing for us we have been walking all day cold tired and it was raining so glad that it’s a very short walk from train station. The check in was so fast and seamless, staff was young energetic and helpful. The amenities at this hotel is great, free coffee lattes matcha in lobby all day long, also public bath that we came to enjoy so much in Japan not every hotel has public bath/sauna and this is a plus for us—the room is nicer and bigger than hotel in Tokyo for half the price and more amenities provided. The hotel is new so super nice and clean. It’s near Nijo castle and other shrines, a 10 minutes Uber ride to Nikishi Market and Samurai museum . If you don’t mind a little distance from main train station in Kyoto I’d highly recommend this hotel. A plus for everything especially the staff, arigatou gozaimasu 🙏

The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The room was nice spacious. The room themselves could have been cleaner, the walls in the room have been dinged up by suitcases over time. The public bath is great. The location was alright, it's actually not as central to most of the hotspots in Kyoto but being close to Nijo Station which has a subway line and a JR line helped alot.

The cleanliness and customer service are not as good as the Royal Canvas located in Kobe. Dirts in the wall and it’s not that new and clean. Staffs are mostly nice except one man staff who have no response when we just asked for two bottles of water.

The hotel is very clean and modern. The beds were comfortable and room was quiet despite facing a busy street. Location is great next to Nijo Station and walking distance to Nijo Castle. So relaxing to enjoy the onsen after long days walking around Kyoto. Only downside is the breakfast which only had limited options. Staff was friendly but difficult to communicate with in English.

The only reason i gave the cleanliness portion a 3 and overall a 4 is because i did wake up to a few bug bites from sleeping in the bed during my stay. The bites were located on my foot and ankle, while another was up on my right knee.

Simply the hotel was superb - the rooms are larger than you would generally get in Japan and the quality of the fittings and cleanliness was top rate. We enjoyed the 'rain' shower - probably the best that we experienced in any hotel. The rooms were cleaned and tidied everyday - if I had a small complaint, there wasnt any closet space only a rail with a few coat hangers. The bed was very comfortable and the room had blackout curtains - and well the toilet is to die for - I need one of these at home The hotel in an excellent position, just opposite from NIJO station which has both underground and overground connections, so it was easy getting anywhere in Kyoto - we were only 2 stops from Kyoto station (where you can get the bullet train and the direct train to Osaka Kansai Airport). Around the station there are convenience stores, supermarkets and many places to eat. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as it was too expensive Y2,000 each, so tried a number of different coffee shops where breakfast for four was around Y2,500. I would certainly recommend the hotel - we used it as our base to visit Osaka, Hiroshima, Nara and Tokyo (although for here we stayed at another hotel in Tokyo for 3 nights) but retained our room at the Royal Park.

We mainly had a good experience. The staff was not rude, per se, but compared to how friendly and caring they were at the Hotel Niwa in Tokyo, they just didn't meet the same level of service. This was ayounger crowd, so maybe that is why. But the hotel was clean, and it had all the necessary amenities. The location was not grat, a bit away from the city center, but not bad. Next to a train station, taxi and bus access, and very wakable. We had a good time, overall. I would for sure stay there again, if needed.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful city. Located fantastically opposite Nijo station, with direct trains to Kyoto main station every 10 minutes or so that take as little as 5 minutes - As well as being on the red underground line that links you to an array of top tourist attractions. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

The staffs are friendly and the overall feel of the hotel / room are modern, well design, clean and spotless, good amenities such as a resident’s common area for coffee/tea, laundry service and gym. Confortable hotel with all you need. Quiet area just across the street from a subway station and bus stop. Fifteen minute walk to Nijo Castle and close convenience store and supermarket. Free coffee and tea all day long. I would stay again.

This hotel, conveniently located just across from the train station, offers comfortable and spacious rooms that are clean and tidy. The hotel is conveniently located directly across from a train station including JR rail lines making it very easy to venture out into Kyoto each day. And because it is a bit more centrally located, I never felt too far from any of the events I had pmanned or sightseeing I wanted to do. There are some great coffee shops and bakeries right near the hotel if you opt out of getting the breakfast package. An easy favorite being Lion Bakery less than a minute walk around the corner from the hotel. I did have a slight issue with the room feeling a bit worn down in some areas. There were scuff marks on the walls and the carpet was spotty and worn in places. It isn't a huge complaint because I booked the room knowing I was there to sightsee and the location was perfect for my activites. I didn't feel like the room was dirty or unclean either. The cleaning team was diligent with ensuring the room was very clean when requested. I think maybe just some basic upkeep and maintenance is needed. Overall, I would stay again because the location allowed me to see a lot of kyoto without excessive travel times.

The location was good; it is literally in front of Nijo station and very close to Ritsumeikan University Suzaku campus, where I attended a conference. The room was small but clean, bad, pillows and linens were good. There is no closet to store clothes or other items. If you have large suitcases, you've got to place them on the side of the bed. The shower room was spotless and sound, with a forest shower. The breakfast was good, but constantly a shortage of food in busy hours. In most cases, the two coffee machines were out of service. A big improvement is necesary for these issues.

What a neat spot to spend your time in Kyoto! First of all, just by the Nijo station so you can go everywhere easily. Also a wide variety of restaurants nearby in walking distance. The breakfast is great if you're staying <5 days, but for more than that, it might get a bit repetitive as there are no new options in rotation. Staff are super friendly and helpful, I even asked them about a reservation at a restaurant which appeared to be fully booked for weeks, they went out their way to call and set up a spot for us that very night, which we definitely couldn't due to our broken Japanese :)

Great location across from Nijo station and a 711. Easy walking distance to Nijo castle. Minutes to Kyoto station. Room was great except it lacked storage space for suitcases. Laundry on site with laundry Chanel on the tv to watch when it’s available. Breakfast was good although same food served every day.
