Is surprisingly good . Lift was not working but I always use stairs parking costs extra £6 but free parking starts 100yds away .breakfast is quite expensive extra ,but Spoons is just round corner Would happy stay again

Good location . Minutes to sea front . All on the flat. Car parking right out front . Amazingly helpful and friendly reception staff. Our room was ideal for just a place to sleep , shower and put our stuff. Very warm , and we was able to open window. To me this is a major plus in a hotel. Great value for money.

The room was quite ok, although there is not a strong enough internet to watch the tv. The shower was very weak. The breakfast is not bad, but most is geared up for the coach tours. There is a nice sitting area with a limited bar. However it is like being in the middle of a race track, constant bikes and cars revving like hell all evenings and Wednesdays it is crazy, never seen or heard so many bikes all night. Did not help as there were roadworks outside which you had to endure during breakfast. Also not helpful as lift out of use, although they offered to carry cases. Maybe on another week a lot off these problems would not be there, then it could be a nice peaceful place, just not this week. Close to a nice harbour area.

Great Staff and Management friendly and welcoming, make you feel like home away from home. Parking is right in front of the hotel and there is lots of parking. Rooms are spacious and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Spacious and relaxing lounge and bar area. A mere two-minute walk to the beach and a lovely promenade, for a walk.

Very friendly hotel breakfast Very good had a few issues with heating and the TV but was dealt with ASAP the bedroom was nice and we had a lovely view of the sea unfortunately the main lift was out of service during our stay but they managed to find a room with a sea view on the first floor

Upon arriving we were greeted by a lovely & very helpful receptionist, we enquired if there was a seaview room, which he organised for us. When we got to said room we found a hole in the bathroom door, electric socket had been smashed off the wall, door closer has been pulled out of the wall & sweet wrappers & sweets on the carpet. We headed back to reception to inform them, a different receptionist was there, who was equally helpful, offered to move us, as she only knew about the hole in the door!! She asked me to send the photos I took via email to her. We said we'd stay in the room as long as we wouldn't be blamed. As were only staying overnight. Beds were comfortable, seaview was lovely, shower was nice & hot, Tea tray was well stock, the room was quiet for being on the seafront. Downstairs looked lovely but we didn't eat or drink so can't comment. The lift was broken

Hotel was quiet as expected for late March. Staff very helpful the lift was working OK. Slight down side was traffic noise that’s not the hotel’s fault. Overall it was a great stay would recommend this hotel old building but a fabulous stay 🙂👍

Superb stay here for a few days. Lovely seafront hotel with plenty of parking (£6 a day).The rooms have been recently decorated so they were very nice.The staff were super friendly & nothing was too much. Comfy beds,clean towels and a good selection for tea & coffee making.

Room filthy. What looked like blood on the walls. The windows had been cleaned a very long time ago Bed uncomfortable. Bathroom very small & shower fid not drain properly. Ending up ip standing in some yellow water.

The room was very hot and muggy, the window barely opened so there wasn't enough airflow to cool the room. The bed was terrible, it was so hard. The water pressure in the shower was practically nonexistent. The room could do with a better cleaning. The tv was nice though, good size and quick response time. Overall it was ok but I wouldn't stay there again.

Typical seaside town hotel. Good location and the view over the bay was nice. Room was a decent size. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Room was generally clean but could do with a decent dust and hoover as it showed signs of a long summer season. Main reason for the low rating was down to the external noise during the night which was not the fault of the hotel but we couldn't close the windows as the room was so warm.

The staff were so friendly & hospitable & went out of their way to help & get whatever we needed. Cleaners literally just emptied the bin but left dirty cups on the side & didn’t replenish the coffee…also not enough milk available (it does say to ask at reception but didn’t realise there wasn’t enough until we went to make it in the morning) Bar area decor was ok….our room on the other hand was very dated BUT to be fair….we had a decent price for 2 nights considering you get 24hr reception & the staff were so helpful

While the location is very good the hotel lacks any atmosphere and needs uodating. You can tell its had a lick of paint recently but the floorboards creak loudly, the fixtires in the bathroom were loose and hadnt been cleaned properly. The communal corridoor has avery strong smell of what i think is stale urine. On a positive note the beds and bedding were very clean and comfortable and the lady at reception, who seemed to be the only staff member, was very welcoming and helpful.

The breakfast was not a buffett, we cant refill beans or scrambled... That was a bit rude. The rooms were also small and the shower was even smaller - so much so that you can barely stand in that. The good thing was the location as its right opposite beach. Overall, an average experience - definitely not so great

Good parking area. Great location.Friendly, helpful & welcoming reception staff. Room a little cramped, very very small bathroom. Had to ask for tea/sugar, etc. Had to use own toilet roll when the one in the room ran out. Very noisy kids in cars along seafront at night ( no fault of the hotel but did have an impact on our stay).

The hotel was lovely but the bathroom was very small and the water trickled rather than running properly. So showering took a lot longer. The heating in the room was on quite a lot and as the room was very small so it got unbearable in the evening and window could only be opened slightly. We could not contact the staff from the room as there was no telephone although the leaflet about the hotel which was given when checking in advised to call reception for any issues that arose. It was nice for the price we paid but not sure if l would book the hotel unless we got a bigger room with a larger bathroom.

Staff at the esplanade were extremely helpful couldn't do too much to help full English breakfasts were wonderfull as with all period properties you can find a niggle but we wouldn't hesitate to stay again in fact we will be booking again

Few problems during the stay of 2nights. Window latch broken. No cold water out of the basin tap. Shower trickling. However although these issues arose the professional staff were fantastic. From the time we arrived till when we left, we were treated exceptionally well. Fantastic customer services!

Wonderful, attentive staff, great service, lovely room, great breakfast… our two boys cried when we told them we were going home! Thank you to all the team at the Esplanade for making our anniversary weekend such a memorable one.

Great Staff and Management friendly and welcoming, make you feel like home away from home. Parking is right in front of the hotel and there is lots of parking. Great location, hotel is on the beach front, great beach front for walks and two-minute walk from pretty harbor. Close to train station and bus routes. Parking is a pleasure great big parking lot in front of hotel. Rooms are clean and presentable, and bed was comfy, and I had a great night’s sleep. View from my room was stunning, watching windsurfing and watersports makes for a great relaxing evening. The staff and management team are so friendly that they make you feel like you are at home, very relaxing. Very happy to go the extra mile. Lovely meeting room for meetings and weddings.”

Room ok, but public areas tired. Old fashioned lounge and bar furniture etc. Cluttered with old, paint-covered ladders at foot of stairs. All soap dispensers in lobby toilets and room bathroom empty. Breakfast was truly aweful - hard fried eggs, hard bacon etc. Worst was the noise from outside the hotel in the evening, from cars/motorbikes racing up and down the seafront, skidding and revving engines. Appears to be the local antisocial meeting place and racetrack. Do not stay here if you need to sleep before 11pm.

The room was quite ok, although there is not a strong enough internet to watch the tv. The shower was very weak. The breakfast is not bad, but most is geared up for the coach tours. There is a nice sitting area with a limited bar. However it is like being in the middle of a race track, constant bikes and cars revving like hell all evenings and Wednesdays it is crazy, never seen or heard so many bikes all night. Did not help as there were roadworks outside which you had to endure during breakfast. Also not helpful as lift out of use, although they offered to carry cases. Maybe on another week a lot off these problems would not be there, then it could be a nice peaceful place, just not this week. Close to a nice harbour area.

very poor quality refurb only recently complete.Water pressure in shower abismal. Silly children in pop pop cars racing up and down outside in the early hours caused lack of sleep. Good points Staff, Location, Parking, good matresses.

Typical seaside town hotel. Good location and the view over the bay was nice. Room was a decent size. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Room was generally clean but could do with a decent dust and hoover as it showed signs of a long summer season. Main reason for the low rating was down to the external noise during the night which was not the fault of the hotel but we couldn't close the windows as the room was so warm.

Had to ask for tea/sugar, etc. Had to use own toilet roll when the one in the room ran out. Very noisy kids in cars along seafront at night ( no fault of the hotel but did have an impact on our stay).

The hotel looks run down before you even go in. We called and booked an extra night before we go there and was told 79 then they said 102. They did then charge us 79. The room was small, the bathroom was so small and not much room to move around, the bed was uncomfortable and not straight No cooked option for veggies

Sadly the evening meal choice and standard of the evening meal has dropped over the years. No evening entertainment unless they have a coach party staying was also a sad discovery. Overall the staff are their usual helpful cheery selfs. Breakfast is good. Standard 3 star hotel.

The breakfast was not a buffett, we cant refill beans or scrambled... That was a bit rude. The rooms were also small and the shower was even smaller - so much so that you can barely stand in that. The good thing was the location as its right opposite beach. Overall, an average experience - definitely not so great

It was a clean room the bathroom was a bit small you could not dry with a towel in there.The fan was noisy and pulsated.The shower cubicle did have some silicone hanging and not meant for larger people.The only draw back was the steps up to the hotel I saw but no disabled access.there was plenty of parking and the breakfast was Great.
