Bonair Hotel

I think the place was under renovation. It was room only, however in its day it looked as if it had been a decent seaside family hotel. There had been a bar, a dining area and no doubt there had been a restaurant

Was unable to stay given the state of the room. Website is nothing like the hotel. No air conditioning, furniture very dated, mattress was very thin. No food offered and bar was all boarded up. View from window was old mattress and rubbish. Walked out and had to pay for another hotel

Upon arrival at this property 1st impressions were not great, it had scaffolding all around and it all intents and purposes looked closed. Once we entered the property there was no one there to check us in, only a sign saying to call a number of any issues. I called the number a total of 7 times with no one answering left messages etc. Eventually a man arrived who proceeded to give us our room keys. Once we got to our rooms, the rooms at 1st glance they appeared tired but were clean, well apart from the bathroom!!! In the room I was in the toilet seat was broken, the shower was cold, the cleanliness of the shower was questionable, there was only 1 cup when there were 2 in the room!! On the plus side the hotel was warm and the beds comfortable. All in all there was no one there to make a complaint too. I wouldn’t book here again , yes it was cheap but this is a clear example of you get what you pay for. I understand that the hotel maybe going through a refurbishment but that should have been made clear at the time of booking, the photos on the site were very misleading

There was nothing unique about this property, will never stay there again, absolute disgusting place to stay, nobody at the check in desk, had to ring a number left at the desk, no towels, no aircon working due to wires cut, had to move a dirty stained chair near the plug socket so i could plug in the kettle, dust everywhere, holes in the wall, no tv remote. balcony door left unlocked, no key for that door, bar downstairs not open, one person was told he had to stay there until the local council found him another place to stay, another couple had been waiting a hour to check in, i have checked other reviews. The Bonair Hotel is on my list of not to stay there again.

There was no any consierge to guide you through entrance and there were 2x conctruction waste skips blocking carpark to main entrance. There was some refurbishment was going on which not been mention. There were 4x lamp by entrance none working and this make very dark entrance. Also entrance has a step and as it was dark everyone keep falling/hit . The room was quite different and smaller than photos as photos took as panarama zoom, also was expected the balcony seen on internet but not all the room (family or triple room) has balcony. The drain pipe was half broken in the second floor and as it was stormy none of us could rest day and night as rain was splashing out from the top of the pipe. The shower drain was almost blocked and shower was not clean enough and water has not enought pressure to clean soap off your body. The boiler was faulty so shower keeps switching between very cold and very hot water. There was a lift which was not working and has no sign on. On last the corridor stink cigarette as someone was keep smoking also there was an saucer full with filters. I just took couple of photos and as my phone died I could not take any more.

We arrived to scaffolding up all around the hotel and renovations taking place. There was no one on reception but there was a mobile number to call and someone turned up. As the lift was out of order (all week) and my brother uses a stick we were helped up to the third floor with the luggage and that was the only time was saw any staff in our 5 day stay. Breakfast was practically non-existent as the kitchen was also being renovated. A loaf of bread and a toaster and a bowl of cornflakes with hot drink. I'm sure once the work is finished this will be a great place to stay, given it's brilliant location. Should have been told about the work beforehand.

There was no reception at the hotel so I have to call to agent for everything. The lift was not working and it seems it’s been in this condition for long since I saw spider nets on the lift doors. They put only two pillows in the couple/double room. Found a broken cup on the tray. In the toilet hand wash refills were empty,

The place is being renovated, but it isn’t to bad at all, they currently do not have food or drinks but overall the hotel is good on a budget. I have very noisy neighbours from midnight till 5 am, that would not shut up when asked, constant around to deal with it, so we packed up and went home.

The advert said a 'no frills' hotel so we weren't expecting top notch, but the location and price were excellent! When we arrived there was scaffolding up all around the front which did obscure the balcony, but there was no noise or anything from building work. It's a renovation work in progress but wasn't really tatty or tired, and will be great (and much more expensive) when finished. There was some dust in communal areas but the room was fine and it was all perfectly OK. We hadn't expected breakfast so the cold, help yourself breakfast was an added bonus, as was the free on-site car parking (although it was first come first served). The outside areas were a bit untidy and there was some rubbish - but not surprising with the scaffolding. The staff were helpful and everything worked - overall we were very happy!

Nice hotel, good price easy to find, staff member was great helpful & very pleasant the only downside was the lift didnt appear to be working, but the very nice man on the night reception carried my bags up for me

Wasn't expecting much from a 2⭐️ hotel, as only needed a room for the night. Shower was leaking slightly, bathroom floor was wet in front of the shower enclosure, toilet seat was broken, heated taul rail was old and dirty. Room windows and tv screen were very dirty. One of the beds wobbled side to side.

Whereas the staff were friendly the hotel itself was very out dated. I had a view over looking the back of the hotel and there was a corner in the compound full of beds, pallets, mattresses which looked unsightly. Plus i noticed that my bed frame had blood on it. About a palm print size. I wont go there again.

The most awful hotel i habe ever seen. I checkes back out within 10.minutes of arriving. Dirty everything from.floor to walls. Toilet use, bed slept in and hiddeous stains on floor walls shower.

This hotel is not fit to be open, the whole hotel is filthy. Bedrooms have dirty carpets and stained curtains and Mouldy shower cubicles. One of our rooms had a vile smell, bedroom bins were not emptied during our 4 day stay causing loads of tiny flies in room. No hand towels provided during stay and just one bath towel per person provided which had to last us the 4 days. Breakfast room had filthy table cloths and crumbs from previous dinners. Bin outside of hotel was never emptied so was over flowing and with dirty nappies. Informed owner that our rooms needed a thorough clean which he said he would action the following day however this never happened, when Iasked him why? He said that rooms only cleaned once we leave. Explained that rooms were filthy when we arrived he then replied that we need to show him some respect!!!Totally ruined our holiday staying in disgusting dirty hovel. Avoid !!! Avoid!!! this hotel as I've been visiting paighton yearly for 20 years and definitely the worst hotel the resort has.

I always strip the bedding when i leave a hotel and the duvet was dirty inside. The bar was closed and i certainly wouldnt want to eat in the restaurant. For the price, you get what you pay for but i wouldnt visit again.

Although the man who checked us in was pilot the hotel itself should be closed down the carpet in room was dirty the toilet seat wasn’t put on properly I had to clean shower before I could use it there was vomit dried up side of sink beds weren’t made and towels weren’t changed over all it was just a very dirty unpleasant experience that I will never do again!!!!!

Just stayed 1 night , 1, no hand towel to dry your hands. 2the bed and mattress was that old and stained. 3 pillow stained. Think they need to revamp the hotel, would not stay again.

The room door code was more convenient thsn a key or card. However staff were initially hard to find on checking in. Creaky floorboards in the corridors meant that noise was heard everytime people walked past the door. Room was clean and functional

We stayed in a seaview room for 2 nights although in august due to the circus you only get partial seaview. Nice budget hotel beds were comfortable small shower and toilet room. General hotel area was clean, shower was a bit mouldy in places, lots of dust down side of bed. The hotel needs to invest in new bedding sadly pillows smelt of stale sweat. Other wise room was great for budget price just what we were looking for/needed. Stone throw from beach with crossing outside. 5min drive from zoo, close to trainstation. Solomon the host a lovely man nothing was to much trouble for him. Sorted us for parking late afternoon on second day as side street full does cost £7 which is quite expensive but on par for the area. Would stay again hust bring own pillow

Staff wasn't available a lot. My room door wouldn't lock at all and couldn't find anyone to help with that. Had to go find staff to get towels as none was in the room. 1 chair at the balcony was broken. Needs a lot doing, got good potential to be a good B&B / Hotel. Served the purpose to stay one night but wouldn't go again.

The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in next door,the radiators in the room didn't work and the quilt was really thin

This property is old but the location is great. If you don’t mind sleeping on a lumpy bed and a shower that only runs at scorching then it’s worth it for the price. It was fairly quiet and fairly clean but everything is old, there were loose power cables in my room and a tv but no remote. It did include breakfast though which was good given the price.

Well happy with the room, had a triple room with a balcony. excellent service, will definately be staying again. Only issue is the pillows, far to soft

Very much a budget hotel. Condition of building and furnishings were very tatty, door on bathroom didn't shut properly, matress bery lumpy, but if you want somewhere cheap to get your head down it is ok.

Very comfortable. Ate out so unable to coming on food.

Extractor fan clogged up and no switch for it! Could do with some blackout curtains

Unable to stay at the property,no staff when checking in, dirty room and unsanitary bathroom poor security on the room doors. Smoking in the property.not a pleasant experience at all.truly disappointing experience.

With No reception or staff, the place is a hig security risk as the main doors are open to public from the beach front all night. Room next door argued all night and no one to tell them to be reasonable. I will nevr go back again

Great for what we paid which was very cheap. Just needed somewhere for me and lad to get our heads down. Staff very friendly.

Hotel un-manned. Had to ring a London number to get code for main door & room door. We booked 3 rooms. Each room was similar. Bathroom ceiling covered in mould. Wall paper torn off walls. Dirty carpets. Toilet tissue left on bathroom floor from previous guest. Electrical front box missing from air conditioning socket on bedroom wall exposing wiring. What should have been a bar area, was crammed with mattresses & furniture. Whole hotel was grim & needs renovating. Feels like its a hotel used by Council for emergency accommodation. Hotel should carry a health warning. Avoid at all costs!

This is Real value for money The Managers are Great and the Cleaner Helpful with the room service requirements for the extended stay

Solomon at the reception was very friendly and helpful. I left my phone charge-cable behind and he did send it to me! I Send a self addressed envelope

The owners / staff seemed like they couldn't be bothered. I was called the day before by some 'call centre' representing the hotel to check my arrival time. I was told by them that an 11am arrival would be fine but there was no one to be seen at this time. We returned at 1pm only to be told the room still wasn't ready as the cleaners were late and it could be as late as 5pm. We went back, again, at about 4pm to find it was finally ready. The room itself wasnt too bad, although there were a previous guests sweets and wrappers left on a window sill and some old shoes chucked on the roof directly outside our window. Also, the only hotel I have ever been to that doesn't provide towels!!! We'd only booked it to get a good view of the airshow and left immediately afterwards. Would never stay here again or recommend to anyone.

Budget hotel but for the price I paid it was worth it. Conveniently located just outside of town centre so minimal noise at night

Property just across the road from sea easy access, parking which is a big help. Friendly staff very helpful. Overall our experience was good all round. We will book again when visiting Paignton.

Right on the sea front and very close to all the seaside amenities. Ali was very helpful and hospitable - nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and tidy and fairly standard for a seaside hotel. The hotel is in the process of being done up and the staff were keen for us to be satisfied with our stay. Any tiny concerns were very quickly sorted.

Basic hotel at a cheap price. Just nicely out of the centre so it is quiet on a nightime. I have stopped before and I will be stopping again as it is handy when I am working in the area.

I was initially cuecked into a room that had electrical cables for light sockets exposed and no light in the bathroom. I was moved from this room yo another room. The new room had all that was needed tea coffee towels and even toiletries. What it lacked was cleanliness. There were cobwebs on the high celings and the bathroom was some what dusty. Condiments dont get replenished and your room doesn't get cleaned during your stay eithet. Even if you ask for replacement Condiments you wont get them. It wad ok for me as i was visiting a friend in thr area and was barely at the hotel. But if you are planning to spend time in the hotel its maybe not the best. Breakfast is also limited no service and consists of toast or bread. Longlife milk nothing fresh at all. During mystay i saw someone when checking in and that was all There was no helpful person to advise on local attractions or any issues you may have.

Room was very basic. Floor creaked, coffe cup dirty, bed creaked, extractor van not working, shaving light not working, toilet seat whole too small, window retaining strap broken so people can smoke and throw butts onto flat roof. No food available. Reception unmanned.

No meet and greet. Radiators on full on landings when weather is 32degrees outside. Bare cut of wires hanging out of walls. People sleeping in foyer. Dogs barking when stated not allowed. No restaurant when In ad. Would never recommend it!!!

Dated and needs refurbishment...TV in room didnt work, tea and coffee provided but tiny cups and no spoons to stir...No breakfast provided despite advertised online...dissapointing as could be a lovely hotel
