McCafferty's Guesthouse Ilford

Reception staff was very nice. Steps to the room were steep, would have been great if they had lift Bit noisier than usual but couldnt blame as room is on top of a pub, moreover England won against Switzerland in football.

Great pub and hotel, the staff were all lovely and friendly happy to help you with a smile. There is a car park and bus stop right outside also the train station is only a couple of hundred yards away.we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The meals were excellent. The room was clean and had everything needed including AC. Only problem for me was two flights of stairs Im not very mobile with arthritis in my knees and hips. Also the breakfast service doesn’t start until 10am and I would have loved to have been able to have breakfast there it looked very tasty! I will certainly be back and asking for a first floor room!

I slept with the window open & didn’t stir all night (without earplugs) Train line opposite but only a very slight rumble that’s all. Few minutes walk from Seven Kings station into London. Overall a great stay & would stay again if in the area.

Pleasant accomodation above a busy pub. We were room 11, probably furthest away from the pub so not disturbed by any noise. All staff meet were friendly.

Was a bit confused to get the keys from the pub but eventually we get it sorted quickly. Staff was very friendly and room was perfect for our needs. Car park was opposite the room so could even keep an eye on my car overnight. Parking was free on the weekend.

We stayed at this pub for 1 night, we didn’t use the pub in the evening as we were at a party but did stop for breakfast and a pint of Guinness in the morning, the breakfast was lovely, only thing was we couldn’t eat it all! Room was clean, even had air conditioning. Feee car park across the road. If we were coming back here would definitely stay again!

Liked the free weekend parking , ease of check in although bit later than anticipated ( nothing to do with guesthouse) room was fine, and we were informed by staff re the likelihood of some noise due to a live band performing in the pub, we were aware of exterior noise but it was not overly loud and didnt prevent sleep. Plenty of stairs to navigate as room 11 is on top floor but otherwise a pleasant overnight stop. Suited our purpose as close to Seven Kings station on the Elizabeth Line just 5 stops from Stratford.

You need to know that the pub below is lively until late

There is karaoke until 2 AM right below the room. It’s impossible to sleep. The sound insulation between the rooms is also not great. So, it’s something to consider when booking.

The food wasn’t great. The carpet in the hall was filthy. The staff were lovely though. Room was fairly clean.

Black mold in bathroom . Staff were not interested when told.

Need a clean room. Smell of cigarettes

Good and bad, Let’s start with the Positives, Location - 2 min walk from Seven Kings station, Parking opposite is free at weekends, Food - very nice and well priced. Negatives - Air Con/heating was broken in the room, managed to turn it off manually in the end but room was roasting hot, being above a pub meant the Fight outside was rather loud as we were forced to keep the window open due to the heat ( in February!?) Shower - only just worked enough to be called a shower, more of a watering can trickle. And the big one for me, Cleanliness….. hairs in multiple places and we were joined in the restaurant by a mouse, live and rather calm in it’s surroundings so likely staying for a long stay too.

The property was very dirty and dated. The toilet moved when I sat on it, The blinds could not be retracted to get sunlight into the room. The shower tray had mold around it, no landline phone in the rooms to get assistant. No one at the reception desk ever to speak to. Bed sheets had turning brown from white. Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night loud music noise from the bar below.

Location ideal for easy access to Stratford area. Easy parking opposite venue and free overnight. Rooms good size and quiet. Great house keeping

The people were very nice. The food in the restaurant below was good. But the room was in a poor state. Furniture was broken and torn. Bed-sofa half broken and linnen dirty. Hardly any toiletpaper. We had to ask for paper every day. The request for room cleaning was not granted. Curtain was hanging loose on one end. Shower door was hanging sideways. Mould in the ledges of the shower. Carpet was dusty and old.

I’ve stayed here numerous times and it never disappoints :) free parking opposite after 5.30pm lots of places to eat :) Room always clean and well kept and staff friendly and helpful

Great overnight stay with pub below. Friendly & helpful staff, & good food & drinks in pub. Stayed in family room which was big, with comfortable beds & squeaky clean en-suite bathroom. Would recommend & definitely a bargain price.

It was a good place for an emergency stay-over, but with the double bed and the pull-out bed it was extremely cramped, hard to maneuver to the bathroom, and the bathroom was also very cramped. But all it was sufficient for us, and we can’t complain as customer service booked it at the last minute when our VRBO booking fell through while traveling on the train from Edinburgh. So thank you McCafferty and thank you VRBO customer service for finding it

Would definitely recommend. Staff are great. Rooms are very clean but pillows could do with an upgrade. Would stay there again if I were down in Ilford.

Room very basic with no surface to put your stuff on tea making tray is on the one bedside cabinet next to your head while in bed! Had to put it on the floor for safety. This room had space for a desk so it should have one the floor was littered with our belongings. The pillows and duvet are old discolored and flat! We bought two pillows! When asked for the three magners in a bucket at the bar we were told they had discontinued that offer but it was on sale the following night. Also residents bar discount was discontinued. beware live music very loud until 2am fri and Sat. No chance of sleeping!

Never mind the hotel for starters the pub is decent. A proper pub serving good pints. When I got sent to my room was very pleasantly surprised, looked all new, good shower. Was a bit noisy from the karaoke downstairs but didn't disturb me. Paid parking over road. Will return for sure.

I have never written a bad review, however, I don't want anyone else booking the room type that sleeps 3! Upon arrival we collected the key from the bar, we were shown where abouts our room was at the end and left. Weirdly we were shown where the smoking area was, but not how to check out (we did work it out) or any other house keeping. PROs Cheap Free parking at weekends opposite CONs The room type is falsley advertised and DOES NOT sleep 3! Specific room type booked was a twin room that sleeps 3 (other rooms stated sleeping 2), however, ONLY has 2 beds, no rollaway or occasional bed made up, no extra bedding, towels etc. The 2 beds were very uncomfortable, very hard and could feel the springs and bed lining had marks. Broken TV and remote control snapped with battery compartment exposed. Broken kettle. Noisey - you hear everything in the corridors, even hearing the guest in the room next door go to the toilet. We were aware that there is live music until 2am. No / very little phone reception I am quite shocked that the guesthouse did not a) contact us before arrival to advise the room type that sleeps 3, in fact does NOT or b) have a rollaway/temporary bed for the 3 person.

Room was very small. Air conditioner was not working, was hot in the room. Bathroom was very small and not so clean.

Great check in process got shown what to do and also food options etc. would stay here again. Clean room a very pleasant stay.

Staff could not do enough to help And very friendly food and Guinness was quality and fair priced. Room was smal but adequate. It is not a 5 star hotel but I will stay again very good price for what I paid. The only downside was they do not do a breakfast. If they did it would be a game changer

Please don’t buy into the reviews like I did. Very poor experience of the hotel. When I first went to check in I waited 25 minutes and even then the guy came back and had no clue about which room I was in. Eventually he got a key and took me to a room and left to get the fob I needed for front door access. When I had a look around the room I realised he gave me a room that was already been used by other guests and had all their personal and valuable belongings! When he came back with the fob, I mentioned this to him and he then disappeared again for 20 minutes. He finally came back with a key and fob for a new room. The next day as I’m leaving the hotel, the housekeeper approaches me and insists I move rooms. I asked why and that I was on the way out to an appointment so I didn’t have time. She then continued insisting and I said no, she then said she had to speak to the manager and disappeared off for 20 mins and came back and said I have to move tomorrow instead. I asked why and why I wasn’t told before, she went back and spoke to the manager and came back and said I did not have to leave. What a palava. Not only this, the radiator was broke and kept falling off the wall and the noise was awful and there was no soundproofing in the room I was in. I would not recommend this place in any capacity and I am baffled with the other reviews.

Was ok but if you luggage no one is there to help there is no lift no refrigerator in rooms .They took half hour to give us keys for check in.parking is £7 per day very expensive

Easy to get to, good value, friendly staff and kept my laptop safe after i left it underneath a pile of towels and checked out!

Well, we had a terrible experience from this hotel, after check in we went out with our friends and came back at around 12pm when we open the door it was almost like raining inside the room, the bed was all wet and water was still coming down cz someone was taking shower upstairs. We reported it to the staff and they were super nice to us, we waited for 20 minutes to sort that up, but we were still wondering they don’t have a reception at night time, what if we were a bit more late, we would have suffered the whole night.

Mccafferty is a relaxed place, nice staff and the Irish pub is lovely. I like the environment, felt safe close to Elisabeth line, great place to stay.

Great live music in the pub downstairs. Very convenient for the tube. Parking is convenient in the municipal lot, but has to be paid by app, which is more expensive than the posted rate.

The room was neat but wasn’t clean. Found some hairs in the shower and make up stains on the pillows. They had a kettle, towels and toiletries. There was also aircon which was a lifesaver in the middle of summer! The place was easy to find and only a few minutes walk to the tube station. There’s a council car park directly opposite that you can pay for using an app. The area felt busy but safe even at night. We stayed in the top floor during the weekday and it was quiet. Overall it was a good and hassle-free stay.

Fantastic stay for MCM Comic Con at the Excel centre. The family that run the pub as well as the hotel are lovely and so friendly, the room was cosey but perfect for our stay. We usually put a do not disturb sign on when we're staying for a few nights, as we are happy to use towels for a few days and think about the eco impact of having your room cleaned everyday. On our second day back we found a bag on the door and a note with some extra tea and sugar as well as fresh towels if we wanted them, which we've never had before and is so, so kind. The food in the pub is lovely as well and was a great place to eat, but there are loads of options in the area! The music is loud and stops at about 2am over the weekend and midnight during the week, but for us on the top floor it wasn't too bad and we could still get to sleep during it. Would definately come back and stay.

Stay was good friendly staff the bar has plenty of character top pint of Guinness which you would expect friendly atmosphere 💯

Decent guesthouse accommodation situated above a lively Irish bar/lounge. Rooms are compact but have everything you need for a short stay. Had an evening meal and breakfast in the bar and food was great! 👍
