The Norbreck Hotel by Compass Hospitality

Communal areas are dated and need repainted. Shower hose and fitments vere very rusty and dirty. Parking is a real problem in the area. Parked 1/4 ofa mile from the hotel and was lucky to find that space.

Not sure what to say. If you want retro this is the place. States parking, for five cars which seems to be all reserved.

Very friendly lad on reception and booking in efficient. Sorted car parking. Building appealing and clean. Room clean and had a bath. Was a bit noisy from windows but i put that down to the storm tgat passed through. On the whole, will definitely be staying again.

Nice friendly service, clean and has everything you need for an over night stay. Bar on site, outdoor seating.

Functional room and efficient service but parking extra.

The Hotel is located in a stunning spot overlooking the north side of Scarborough, amazing views. The Hotel is a bit worn, with marks on walls, worn carpets, etc and in need of some TLC, however, for a night or two I wouldn't, staff were helpful, there's a bar and food seating area as well as benches outside overlooking the sea. There's not loads of parking for the hotel but they offer a parking disc to park on the main strip.

The hotel is a bit dated but clean and has amazing views of the see staff were friendly. Room was a decent size with a big bathroom. TV and tea and coffee in the room. Great location of the hotel short walk in to town would stay here again

Nice location, very good views but not worth the money they are charging. The hotel needs some serious remodelling inside and out. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there. Car park is awful and only really enough space for 5 cars as we were blocked in by 3 extra cars when we were trying to leave, not great if you're in a rush at all. Wouldn't stay here again. Staff were great however can't complain about them.

Feom the moment we arrived the views were brilliant! Managed to park straight away in their small area. Staff were pleasant, breakfast lovely and lots of it. View from breakfast room was of the bay, brilliant. Bar and breakfast rooms clean. Our room was a standard double, views of the south bay from our room. Although the room and hotel, in general, are in need of updating, everything was clean and tidy. Goid job we love walking as was a bit of a walk to town and south bay, however over the weekend we found some shortcuts, which made it much quicker! Would definitely visit again. Signs around the hotel said updating was taking place this year.

First of all car parking is an issue here. There are about 5 small and awkward car parking spaces on site which can be reserved for about £6.00 per day, for everyone else its on street park if you are lucky enough to find a space anywhere near the hotel. On street car parking permits can be purchased from the reception for daily rate of £5. Next location. The hotel is perched near the top of the hill / cliffs which gives great views across the North Bay but is good 10-15 walk to the beach or town center. Checking in was effortless and friendly. Our room was on the third floor and smaller the expected but the view across the bay excellent, pity there was no balcony to sit outside to enjoy the weather and views. Breakfast was distinctly average buffet breakfast, not great but not too bad. The whole hotel inside and out is tired and dated but there was a notice in the reception apologising and explaining that a lot of refurbishment work was scheduled throughout 2025. Staff were all friendly, helpful and professional.

Condition of room poor thick with dust wouldn’t stay again

The room was very clean and looked freshly decorated.

The room you see when you book isnt the room you get. False advertising. The paint in the bedroom was peeling. The carpet had stains and was old and dirty. The bathroom radiator was hanging of the wall. The bathroom floor wasn't clean. Cobwebs in the recess of the bathroom window. An absolute disgrace for the money.

Foyer reeked of urine. Staff nonchalant. Bathroom dirty. Ceiling mouldy & falling in. Overall very tired. Needs some serious TLC. Such a shame

Room view was amazing, bed was really comfortable the only thing that really let it down was the cleanliness of the room, dust across the tops of mirrors, marks in the bathtub that would have come off

The first room 219, given was diabolical. Not fit for paying guests needs a total renovation and it was dirty. After complaining they readily agreed to change rooms which was a vast improvement.

I liked the price as it was a base and wasn’t spending much time in the room-however, the room had not been fully cleaned, dirty cups, water left in the kettle, leaky shower and previous customers products left in the bathroom

This is a lovely hotel simple but with splendidly large sized rooms - mine had an en-suite bathroom and a big double bed. With wonderful views of the castle and church across the road. Well worth a visit. For cleanliness, politeness of staff and facilities it is definitely worth the cheap price I paid for two nights….. Top marks AAA*****

Very tired and in desperate need of upkeep. Most staff, while friendly and polite, were unkempt, in keeping with the general scruffiness of the hotel. Food was average. Shower was gravity fed, almost zero pressure. Walls are so thin you can hear everything from above and around you. Great location with fab views but you can't live off that alone!

Clean room. We had the superior room with balcony. Beautiful view of the sea and coast. Very large room with king bed, sofa and table and chairs overlooking the sea. Does need updating but good price and staff friendly and accommodating. Very good breakfast buffet. Dogs aren't allowed in breakfast room, but we were allowed to eat it in the bar area with him. Great service from staff.

I wanted to like this hotel more than I did. The location was perfect, right on top of the hill looking out over Scarborough, it was beautiful, but the hotel it’s self was a bit of a let down. The staff were lovely, the breakfast was yummy but the rooms were a disappointment. The shower barely worked, I’m glad I didn’t have to wash my hair, I would have been there a week if I had! Little things like the lamp didn’t work, carpet needed a good clean and the bed only had one pillow. It’s a very noisy hotel, the door in the corridor bangs every time someone opens it, and obviously the seagulls like to be heard! Ha! Like I said, I wish I liked this hotel more because it has great potential, but the little details need looking at.

Check-in Was Fast As We Did That Online. We Had A Room Next To The Elevator But To Be Honest We Never Heard It. The Room Itself Could Have Done With A Fresh Coat Of Paint, The Windows Were Open And The Radiator As We Discovered Did Not Work. We Ended Up Asking For Another Room After About An Hour Or So Of Waiting For Some Heat That Never Arrived. The Second Room Was 2 Floors Directly Above The First one But At Least It Had Heating Which Was Great As It Was Only 8* Outside. Room Was A Good Size And Bed Was Comfortable.

The bathroom was in need of modernisation as the shower head was very old and had a shower curtain, although the bathroom was a good size. The corridors looked like they needed a good hoovering. The whole hotel could do with an update and the bed was really soft and not no my liking. The bar area looks like the furniture has been bought at about seven different warehouses. BUT - if you want somewhere thats OK, pretty clean, friendly, cheap and with a big breakfast selection then theres absolutely nothing wrong with the Norbreck Personally, I'd rather pay more next time I visit and stay in a more modern or developed hotel but there's really nothing to actually dislike about this place

Room was little small side and leaked when rained bad

Nice room with a sea view , no complaints really , bed was very comfy and nice a quiet , no road or seagull noise .

Rude staff,car park was closed we weren’t informed ov this as we booked for off street parking and the room was dirty.

It was just me and my son for an overnight stay. I hadn't paid for a sea view room and ended up with a large corner ensuite room with free tea/coffee,(Kettle). When we left the room the door wouldn't lock so went to reception to report it,in the meantime I went to get my car as I'd got a space in the hotel car park (very limited spaces £6.00 for the night).Back at the hotel they gave us another room a sea view with no extra charge. The following morning we had a buffet breakfast, (which was very nice),with the dining room looking out to sea and the bay.I definitely would stop there again.

Just returned from 2 night stay. Parking is extremely limited. Had to park a few streets away. Hotel very basic ,and appeared to have skeleton staff on . Gentleman on reception was friendly first day . Didn’t say a word when we left , not even good bye just took the key ! We werent happy that on our first full day there to get a call midday telling us that we were due to check out that day , and why were our belongings still in the room ! And they would be packed up at 1pm !! . Although breakfast was mediocre, there were 2 young ladies working very hard cleaning the tables

The reception staff made our stay, they were warm and welcoming.

Unable to book a table for evening meal due to amount of guests (coach party). Quality of breakfast poor. Rude member of staff with attitude problem!. Hotel requires considerable make over however, the room was exceptionally clean. No parking on site.

Definitely not as advertised ! Initial greeting of both hotel and staff was so abysmally disgusting that we walked straight back out and stayed at the lovely Premier Inn. No useable disabled parking, no accessible rooms and absolutely no professionalism or manners. Avoid at all costs DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!

Helpful staff, recommended where to go in the area, sorted out parking for us. We stayed 2 nights, coffee tray was replenished, room was clean and facilities were comfortable.

We stayed at the Norbreck Hotel for 7 nights and we had avery enjoyable stay. We had a wonderful view of the sea from our hotel window. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing that you asked of them was too much. Scott and Andrew the receptionists were both helpful and friendly. Not forgetting Pete. We would definitely stay at the Norbreck again. Thank you all for making our stay a pleasent one.

All Staff were so welcoming and engaging with the guests. Lin on reception was particularly fabulous! Breakfast was a buffet style- cooked and continental- unlimited drinks- all freshly cooked and hot! Views from the dining room looked out over the bay! Nice and central to explore North Yorkshire! Comfortable room with good facilities, some areas are being redecorated which could be seen but didn’t affect our stay at all! Thank you

We had a nice stay at The Norbreck. The location was good and it had a fantastic view looking over the North bay. Parking is a bit of an issue, as the hotel only has spaces for a few cars. We parked on the road luckily quite close and the hotel gives you a parking permit to display which costs £5 for two days. You could easily end up parked up quite a distance from the place. The location is also good for walking from, if you go round the back and through the church yard it's not far to walk to the South Bay beach. We walked around the headland which takes much longer and came up by the church which didn't take long at all. Breakfast was satisfactory, it would improve things if they had two toast makers as you needed to send bread through twice to get it toasted and a queue formed quite quickly, even though it wasn't particularly busy. The staff were friendly but sometimes unobtainable. When we checked out there was no clear instructions on where to put the key but also no one around to ask. Several people in front of us in the queue for reception just put their key on the counter and walked away. We did the same. A box on the counter for a key drop would have felt more secure. Overall it was ok for the one night we stayed.

Amazing hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Brilliant sea view from our room. Away from the noise of the South Bay and located in a quieter area of Scarborough.

Loved the hotel, restaurant and bar in-house was nice. It is definitely walking distance to everything. The castle is about 500 feet away and the Scarborough Seafront area is only a few blocks away. Best of all, it is only about half a mile from North Riding Brew Pub and their great beers.

Being at the very top of the cliff's makes this property suitable for those who don't mind a walk back up from the beach but maybe not as suitable if you have difficulty with mobility

Breakfast was awful. No hot food, poor selection of an effort of a continental breakfast, coffee machine broke, no cold milk provided for cereal.

For an hotel, unbelievable limited parking spaces and no long term parking around it. Check-in ok and the twin room was lovely. Breakfast terrible and staff not that responsive.

Superb location, great views from the bar area. No cooked breakfast available at the time of our stay, possibly due to being quiet season. Perfect for walks into Scarborough with lots of great pubs on the way. One of the best weekends away we’ve had in many years

Avoid this hotel! Very old and in need of major TLC and a deep clean. Mouldy bread at breakfast, moody staff and dirty bathroom - so much so we checked out at 9am in the morning desperate to get to our next destination so we could have a shower - there was no way we were using the shower in this place!
